Can spawn in any of the Sarnak camps in the zone. Been killing for war braids for some time now, and I've only seen him 3 times, and he only dropped the boots once.

Got us a new guildy in today. Another young Iksar Sk is running around in a full set of banded (that he made himself). He wants no money, and doesn't really want any help. I told him about Zorash and he said that he would accept this help but only this one time. So he and I went to the mudpit in OT and camped Zorash for 7 hours straight. As an Sk I'm not much of a healer so I went about it a different way. I would single pull with bow then cast Terror of Thule and taunt like mad to hold aggro while guildy would hack away. Well, Zorash spawned 4 times in 7 hours and finally got the boots on the 4th pop. I only have one flame about this entire quest. If Zorash stole quest givers boots, then why does he not have them on him. IMO Zorash should always drop the boots. Just make him a more rare spawn, or throw in a side quest to trigger him. I enjoy questing and think that more time and effort should be put into it by everyone. But camping a single spot and just hacking away for hours on end just gets mind numbing. Takes the fun out of questing. It's just my 2 cents. One more thing... Bazaar was just about one of the worst things created... should be reduced to tradeskill components only. Earn your gear by working for it. Not killing 5 million spiderlings and then running to bazaar and selling the silks so you can buy high end gear (just an example). You people know who you are. And to Draxillix... Great job on working for you gear... You make me proud to be in the same guild as you.

You know, I have to agree. I might have had a few items given to me from my guild mates or gotten enough money to buy one or 2 items at Bazaar, but I always try the newbie armor quests whenever I get a new alt. Some are easy, some are near impossible though with ultra-rare drops off of ultra-rare mobs sometimes.

Now, I don't want to get off on a rant, but here's a novel thought. Make mobs that newbies have to kill to get the drops at LEAST killable by newbies and not some drop off of a lvl 20 mob for a set of newbie armor most people should be able to finish by lvl 12-15. Or to hunt for months to find things like Decayed Skele parts for human Sk's of Bertoxxulus, which almost NEVER drop! I have yet to see one drop off of a decayed skele, like this web site says. It is always off of restless skele's or skele soldiers in W Comm. Sometimes in a blue moon a skele will drop one... but never a decayed skele, which, from the name of the drop, would be a very logical choice to wonder what drops these items.

Phew... I feel much better now. Stepping off my soap box!

Zorash Spawn Time and A Rant
# Jun 10 2003 at 3:45 AM Rating: Decent
I worked all day about 6 hours killing Sarnaks in the fort with 3 buildings he spawned 4 times in that 6 hours and only dropped the boots once.

How often did he spawn? I would say it was pretty evenly spaced in that 6 hours.

He always spawned in the same place in the small building that usually only has 2 Sarnak in it.
I have read that he is not a caster not true he is definitely a caster.

What he tries to cast I am not sure as i have never been hit with anything nor has my pet. Could he be healing himself? Not sure as I only saw his health spike once and that was in the presence of another sarnak either an enthusiast or a partisan and could have got a heal from that source.

As I am level 51 and this guy is green as can be he did not get much of a chance to make any successful casts.

Sorry to hear about all those making long camps and not ending up with the boots. I have no use for them and shouted there availabilty no one was interested in making the run to get them.

Kind of makes me laugh. I remember the days when OT was a place I ran through as fast as I could without stopping to see if i were being chased. Now I can sit with most of the Tigress, cockatrice and rhinos with no aggro. cant blame somebody for being a bit afraid of running all that way to get some boots that may have rotted by the time they got there.

Tommorow just for fun I think I will kite him to the ramp and FD.

Speaking of which being a necro *and evil* I was in the outpost today and saw all the goons including the general in one building 7 or 8 of them. It really took all my will power not to kite the whole lot of them over to the ramp at SF.

Woot woot what a royal mess that would have been.

I think if I ever see that again I won't be able to resist.

And for the moaners about the spawn and rarity all i have to say is get a life and play the game for the enjoyment of it. I just spent 6 hours killin greenies to me to get a hammer i will never use in combat. But i want that hammer and will spend what ever time it takes to get it. And when i do get it I will appreciatte it even more for the effort i went to get it.

A tip for all you ppl that have lost the zest for huntin your gear. Stay the hell out of the bazaar. You think that everything in the game should be sold by vendors so that you and your hard earned Yantis platinum can just buy it.

I say that SOE should make all but the crafted and most basic of equipment NO DROP. get the game back to that of adventuring instead of one of bartering.

Split the servers make some for adventurers and some for the merchants. Know what would happen? There would be no one on the merchant servers because there would be no adventurers bold enough to go out and get any of the gear to sell.

Sound to me like most of the complainers were actually sittin on their duffs in the Bazaar while typing out their rants.

Oh did I fail to mention by killin all these Sarnak's I ruined my Chardok faction in a matter of hours that took me weeks to build up? I am not cryin about it I will get my hammer. And i will then improve my chardok faction again.

Well, I finaly managed to meet up with my old friend Zorash and whoop his little bottom. Can't really say how tough he is since I'm lvl 63 now. It took about 6 hours of camping the ruin by the mud hole. Anyway, he dropped his boots and I quickly ran back to town to complete my set of Dreadscale then found the first untwinked newb in FoB and gave him a nice present. This guy requires a lot of patience. Good Luck to all on this quest.
killed him today

Started to work on my Greaves so I went to hunt Grachnist first...couple days later I got his head then I heard the boots were harder so I grabbed a buddy (52 Paladin) and I went to Overthere...I went to the Northern most one near the Mudhole thing and we cleared the whole spawn and waited...then Zorash spawn, we killed him..no boots..Cleared the spawn again..he didn't spawned...Cleared it again for about 4 times, still no Zorash then he had to leave..so I tried to Solo the place got an aggro and ran to the pok book(had sow) just wondering how many times do you have to kill these things to make Zorash spawn?
Ok thats it

Just an FYI, he doesn't only spawn in the tower. I found and killed him near the mudhole in the ruins with the other sarnaks about a week ago and he dropped boots first time. Hope this helps.

Well, I think I'm around my 500th hour of camping Zorash for boots. I've killed him at least 30 times and still no boots. I'm currently lvl 39 and I started camping him at 30. So I guess you could say it wasn't a total loss. Does anybody know if this quest is broken, or do I just have really bad luck. My only trick to getting him to spawn was to sit at the tower with a group and slaughter the Sarnaks as they spawn. He will spawn eventually. I had him spawn 4 times in a row once then didn't see him again for 2 days(about 12 to 14 hours total camping in those 2 days). I have plenty of money to buy something better, but now I'm just determined to get them. Please post here if you know whether or not the quest is broken.

What you need from him are his boots. I think they are called Boots of Zorash. I can't realy be sure uf the name since I have never seen them drop. Anyway, his drop is a pair of boots but it has nothing to do with the Dreadscale boots quest. He is for the Dreadscale Greaves quest. I hope this clears any confusion you have in your dreadscale quests.

ya know what I really hate this guy. as an iksar sk i have done some bretty tough quests but then what class/race hasnt. The test of pain was bad enough but this OMG i had a 56 cleric and a 50 something druid helping me on this and well he never poped. any way i'm just gona have to keep looking. But I need to know this. Why did VI make this guy so rare? it isnt logical and whats with the quests the test of betrayal is a lvl 30+ quest but yet you need at least 3 people to do it now come on what ever happed to soloing? I hear one of the mobs in this qust is lvl 45 how isa lvl 30 supposed to take out that? VI you just dont make any sence sometimes oh well back to the camp sry for my pointless rant.
RE: GRRR
# Sep 03 2002 at 8:32 PM Rating: Decent
I view the dreadscale armor as a trophy, not as an appropriate-level set of armor that you can solo for. By the time you're 30ish you can get a few of the pieces yourself, and a few other quest items are easy enough to get from higher levels camping the needed mobs.

Otherwise, at level 35 you can solo the hulking golras for the skin. I was level 40-something before I could solo the sarnak knight to get the sword, the highest level mob for this quest. The head of grachnist was tedious to wait for and find, the boots were a long camp, and I have YET to even see the damned drixie queen.
The quest for Zorash
# Jul 12 2002 at 2:14 PM Rating: Excellent
First of all let me say that I hate camping, I've rarely done it, and never for as long as I've deliberately camped Zorash (about 8 hours). Just after I gave up after a straight 4-hour camp, someone in the zone shouted that the boots had dropped. With god-like foresight I had parked one of my Iksar alts at the location (with SoW), looted them with less than a minute left on the corpse then chain-quested the pieces and got my dreadscale greaves.

I camped two of the three spawn locations the entire time - north ruins and the tower, and saw Zorash 5 or 6 times. I checked the south ruins every once in awhile but never killed anything there. The final spawn had been at the south ruins when a PC group had moved in. The spawns that I observed were always at the same exact location within each sarnak group. It is not necessary to kill any sarnaks in the group except this one location for him to spawn, and I noticed no increased frequency of Zorash whether I killed just this one spawn or the entire group.

The spawn location for Zorash in the north ruins is the westernmost sarnak position, in a little "room" by itself. For the tower it is the easternmost sarnak IIRC. I never saw Zorash spawn at the south ruins.

Based on the spawning of Zorash that I observed during the 8 hour total it's possible that he will choose a different sarnak group to spawn at, and will not respawn at a group until he has spawned at each of the three groups. Again this is based on camping 2 of the 3 locations at once (two computers). If communication was tight, camping all 3 locations at once, this theory could be proven or disproven.

You say, 'What greaves?'

Sarth Scarscale says 'Do you know the beasts that call themselves sarnaks? One such beast who calls itself Zorash attacked an envoy of merchants who were to deliver a pair of special boots to me. It taunts us by wearing them as a trophy. Bring them back and the skull of Grachnist, his goblin ally. Return them to me along with a star ruby and your banded greaves, and I shall craft you an excellent pair of greaves.

It's a great pair of IKS SHD only greaves.

Been camping Zorash for 40 hours the last few weeks, most of them with a fast group at the FM ruins. Zorash can decide to not show himself for five straight hours, and then he might pop two or even three times within a couple of hours, but what does that help. I have killed him 10 times, and he hasn't dropped the boots yet, and I also owe an sk friend enough hours to help HIM get the boots. /petition'ed.. /feedback'ed..

Ok.. i've had him spawn in 3 different places... one is the sarnak tower in the se corner of zone.
- what my group did was kill off the sarnaks for a while... they go from berserker/knights to enthus/knight to partisan/enthus eventually you will get a zorash spawn.

two other places i have seen zorash spawn

the sarnak ruins in the ne corner of zone by the dry lake (with iksar merchant) this is a great spot... recomend 2 druids, enc, cleric, and tanks...
7 - 8 spawns here... very fast respawn rate 3-5 mins... zorash popped here (boots dropped once... i died.. missed loot by about 5 secs..)

the last place i saw zorash was the ruins straight north and a lil bit east of the FM zone ledge...
running by invised from skyfire someone shouted "What r zorash's boots for?" I told them about Iksar Sk quest and he said come loot... sweet... so zorash spawns... but the boots are really rare... took me about a month of off and on camping and looking for him...

good luck all

Only 2 quests are really of any difficulty. This one and the Dreadscale Mask. All the others, you just shout in the zone that your looking for such and such item, and your set, players usually let you loot the corpse if they know what your looking for is on it. Same works with this quest. You shout in OT asking for these boots from his corpse for a quest, and players will usually let you loot.

Hell, I remember when this game first came out, there were no spoiler sites. So stop complaining and realize you have it easier than those who played just over 2 years ago. You should have seen what it was like even finding Zorash. Next your going to complain about the Greenmist Armor in Fear...
RE: Some people just are never happy...
# Feb 09 2002 at 4:16 PM Rating: Good
Blah blah blah...

And let me guess, you had to walk 2 miles uphill in the snow to kill him with your rusty weapons?

I can't stand people who make comments like this. Two years ago, this would have been an uber item, now...it's not. But, strangely enough, our options as Iksar Shadow Knights have not increased appropriately. We are very limited on what we can wear.

I am sure, since you have played this game since beta, or what-not, you have all your gear, and can't complain...

However, there are some of us out there with substandard gear because we don't have the same options. I don't mind seeing my DE, Troll, Ogre, and Other brethern with greater stats because they have such a wide variety of pieces they can wear (I just LOVE DE's that are lower than me with signifignantly higher str AND int AND sta). Kudos. BUT, if we are going to have ONE set of quest armor available to us with VERY few choices beyond that before we hit the planes, DO NOT act tiffed because we are upset.

BTW, you forgot the Vambraces. Sorry, but I dno't recall ever having to fight over a golra camp...usually because nobody is ever killing them. Not to mention the fact that the skin is fairly uncommon (took three trips).

See my post on the thread under the actual item. More details there. :(

Where does he Pop?

I haven't really LOOKED for him yet, but could anyone tell me where he spawns? I check at the ruins near the Ledge whenever I pass by (while invis) But haven't seen him, it would be nice to know where he spawns so that next time I'm there (which will be tonight... and every night, until I don't get exp in OT anymore) and have a good group I could ask if we could camp him for a while... or a week. =P

Read my above post... mainly you need to clear the ruins for a while... you'll go through
the spawn cycle and eventually he will spawn... there are several locations that
I have seen him at... Sarnak Tower (opposite corner of skyfire), runins directly infront of
FM zone ledge, and the ruins out by the dry lake. Get an enchanter for multiple pulls and
adds... get's very nasty very quick... other than that i've been in groups when he spawned
three times in one night less than an hour apart so it's more random than anything on
exactly when he spawns but he always did after we cleared the ruins for about an hour
or more... Also no idea on if his spawn location has to do with others camping sarnak spots
as well (might as if anyone is on sarnak ruins, towers ect...)

# Jan 29 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Default
I was out hunting for Red Eye Jack with a 56 necro and saw the drixie on track. It spawned about half way between FV and Tracker Azeal. I don't know a loc because we started getting mobbed on after he looted the wings. Best directions I can give. Very rare spawn though. Best thing to do is have a tracker with you and a high level friend (Iksar perfered) to cream the drixie once seen, that way you don't stick around for a few minutes trying to kill this guy. And it casts too and watched it take out a lt blue (to a 48) in no time. Be careful and good luck.
