Dozekar drops Tears required for the quests originating in the Temple of Veeshan. I think his name is probably in reference to his fellow dragons requiring that you kill him...

Clear HoT
# May 15 2004 at 4:54 PM Rating: Decent
3box him regularly with ranger/cleric/shaman for twinking friends... getting him initially slowed is the only trick... once slowed he a big baby =p

tash stick and shaman is the way to go tho... shaman poison dots provide a little extra dps and i dont see keeping him slowed too easily just with tash or malo... slow wears off is pretty much guaranteed wiped with one healer =/

from there you can use cleric paci to single pull the rest of the halls just takes awhile... about 5hours for full HoT clear

also is much easier to land disease slow first then go for turgurs... disease lands after malicious 99% it seems where turgurs ive seen resisted 5-6 times in a row even with tash and malosinia

one day he was up and my regular killing crew wasnt around so decided to try 3-boxing him. pretty tough fight, he can resist chanter slow pretty often without malo. first attempt i got him down to around 60%, when i got unlucky and couldnt get him reslowed. second attempt went alot smoother. kill time: way too damn long lol.
something in the range of 1.5-2 hours. i wouldnt suggest trying him with less than a group of people unless you have alot of time to kill.

doz was killed with: 65 warrior, cleric and chanter.

Disease VS regen.
# Jun 16 2003 at 10:32 PM Rating: Decent
Imagine dot damage per tick is X.
His regen per tick is Y.

if X = Y then a dot will stop regen.
if X < Y then a dot will slow his regen.
if X > Y then a dot will overcome his regen and damage him over time.

It doens't matter if the dot is disease or not.

actually he's correct, people used to tell me all the time, any dot at all stopped regen no matter how high the regen.
Doze
# Jun 15 2003 at 4:25 AM Rating: Excellent
We've killed doze a few times on Nameless. First time was with 12 people, second with 10.

I'd have to say the 2 most important things about this fight are;
1. Slow early, slow often.
2. Bring a click item. a tinkered spyglass is good for this, it can be clicked form inventory.

We killed the 2 pit mobs and pulled doze up to the ledge, right side. Enchanter pulled with tash, and ran like crazy to pull spot. The tank, (65 pally) commenced stunning right away to draw agro. Casters were safely around the corner. 2 enchanters and 1 shaman debuffed like crazy. Then the rest of the melee's engaged (Level 64 ranger x 1) and pushed him into the corner. I'm not sure if it was a size issue, but with a gnome tank with doze pushed fully into the corner, the tank can still hit doze and keep him facing into the corner. IT was a long fight, 31 minutes. A single well equiped level 65 cleric was able to keep the MT healed, and finished the fight on 56% mana.

Incidently, we parsed out logs, and over the course of that half hour delt some 407,752 points of damage to him. We are presuming his regen is considerable :)

The whole raid was: 65 ENC, 65 ENC, 65 SHM, 65 CLE, 65 DRU, 64 RNG, 65 PAL, 56 BRD, 61 WIZ, 62 MAG.

Many Jober's died to bring us this kill.

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 28 2003 at 5:04 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) disease does stop regen but it slows it down ALOT.. just look at yourself being a warrior at level 15ish and having rabies... it sucks
Did this with 8
# Apr 21 2003 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
Did Doze with 8 last night on VS.

65 Warrior, 61 Warrior, 65 Monk, 65 Cleric, 61 Cleric, 65 Shaman, 61 Necro, 61 Chanter.

Took about 50 minutes to kill but we got him easy. Cleric were around 70m the whole time with twitching and me off healing with Q.

After slow he's easy.

According to lore, Dozekar is the father of Kerafyrm the Sleeper, which explains why he is so tough. For those who dont believe me, i found this info in the Monsters of Norrath book for the Everquest Pen-and-Paper RPG.

vox and naggy could have been the sleepers parents, that is posibly why they were banished from the ring of scale. it is still unknown to this day why they were banished. says here in the everquest atlas book that naggy cant leave his lair because the goddes of love (erollisi) had sewn his hart to his stomach twisting his pangs of hunger into pangs of love for a maiden sacrifice sent from qeynos. the more he starved the bigger his heart swelled and the bigger his body became untill he was so huge he could not leave the confines of his lair.

sorry to post of subject, was just a good debate and i had to get involved -=)

We dropped him 8 times so far and got 20 tears from him, with as little as a single tear on one kill and as much as 4 two others times. Drop statistics for the 8 kills are:

Black - 0
Emerald - 3
Flame Kissed - 2
Platinum - 2
Poison - 1
Ruby - 7
Runed - 2
Silver - 1
White - 2

For information purposes, here are the statistics for our 64 named drake kills:

Black - 9
Emerald - 6
Flame Kissed - 6
Glowing Drake Orb - 5
Platinum - 4
Poison - 6
Ruby - 6
Runed - 7
Serrated - 2 (damn rare drop... hehe)
Silver - 4
White - 9

Hope that helps.

Best way to engage him -

Clear the two pit mobs, the mob in the right hallway, and the two wandering mobs.

Send a Paladin in with a Divine Aura spell to tank and then slow immediately and hand off MA duties to whomever you please.

Casters should stay out in the pit, to the side of the door. Melee fight him in his room.

Keep him in the doorway of his room, the MA kiting him back forth from north to south to keep him out of the wall and in that area. Don't let him out into the pit, and as long as you keep your MA alive and everyone else in guild can handle 400dmg AE and has right clicks to handle the debuff/dispell he isn't too tough. It can be a long fight, our slow actually wore off once towards the end of the fight the last time we killed him.

Doze can spawn anywhere in the 1st 24 hours. After yesterday pacth, he spawned roughly 12 hrs. after the servers came back up. Now this could have been delayed b/c the GM on RZ reset all the MOBS lastnight due to some error with what they were dropping. Generally things start to pop about 5-7 hours after server reset.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 13 2002 at 5:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actually disease dots do stop regen, give cazel in oasis a shot, he is doable with one group if you dis dot him. ever get rabies as a newbie? you'll note that you were not able to regen at all, same applies to big mobs too. so.....ignore the guy saying regen can't be halted, because it can <you will also note if you get disease based dots on yourself it will negate regen buffs>

DISEASE DOES NOT STOP REGEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

whoever says this is a freakin noob, i have a 62 necro, and dots have never stopped regen, this is an old wives tale that people learn when they are poisoned as noobs.

if you dont believe me, ask your local, necro/shaman/whoever, to dot you with a level 1 dot, and see for yourself.

I can confirm that disease does not stop Regen. It can offset it on some Mobs (depending on the disease DoT and the Mob's regen rate), but it is not cancelling it. It's just as accurate to say that Poison or Magic or Fire or any other DoTs stop regen - They will simply be offsetting it.

Oh I forgot. Keep him diseased, I'm not fully sure that it works but you can land it. He regens like a bizatch, so at least try.
RE: Dozeker Tactics
# Jan 31 2002 at 11:40 PM Rating: Good
Just to make sure you aren't say disease because it STOPS regen:

What DoTs do is they do X amount of damage per tick, so every tick when the mob regens it also takes damage. this started the rumor that disease "stopped" regen(or it could've been because of rabies...*shrug*). disease DoTs last the longest, poison the fastest...and others have varying times. The more DoTs you have on the mob the less he will "regen" per tick because of damage they do.

for anyone who wants to test about if disease "stops" regen, make a lvl 1 iksar necro. watch the regen/tick. then cast the lvl 1 disease spell upon yourself. this does 1 dmg/tick i believe. you will regen one less, but not total stop or regen.

oh and sorry, it just annoys me when i still see people talk about how you need to disease a mob to stop regen....so i try and kill that rumor the few times i see it pop up.
RE: Dozeker Tactics

To add to what Abillister said, people use disease dots because they last a long time. 2 minutes 12 seconds if I remember correctly. Since your fight will last a while, recasting a poison dot every 42 seconds is not very logical. Keep him disease dotted and you may offset some of his regen with the damage your dots do, not because it cancels out.

Having said that, the most important thing in any raid is DPS. Whether you are using dots, nukes, or all melee, you need to kill him faster than he regens plain and simple.

There are some dots that overwrite regen. For instance. The level 12 druid spell treeform cannot be cast on yourself if you have someting such as lesser poison. I think diseases (since they last longer) mostly stack with regen buffs. Also I noticed that poison doesnt overwrite regen spells. Its just that you cannot cast regen spells on yourself while you are poisoned
RE: Dozeker Tactics
# Apr 11 2003 at 9:39 AM Rating: Decent
Disease (or any other dot for that matter), doesn't mostly switch of regen. On a few occasions, i've experienced that regen was removed but those were rare if not very rare occasions. Now mostly i have regen in my 1st slot so it might have been the cause of a disspell component, but in most cases regen was still active after getting diseased. Now when being dotted aand regen happens to wears off, it's not recastable till the dot wears off. I've been in situations where the dots were outdamaging my regen and situtions where regen was just slowed down by dot(s).

Disease may overwrite spell regens or it might not. That has nothing to do with what we are talking about here. Doze does not cast regen on himself, he just naturally regens at a quick rate. Nothing will stop it. Look at the Fungi Tunic...nothing will overwrite its regen.

We have fought this guy on Fennin Ro, and here are a few tips that I can offer that may help you others in killing this mean SoB....

1) Keep him slowed and fully dotted at ALL times or you lose.

2) You better bring 10 rogues or have Dragonbane wizards because if you don't take him out fast his AE will take your entire force out slowly (happened too us, working on DB wizards now)

3)It is a good idea to make someone sacrifice themselves so that you can slow him before you attack. Send in a Ranger with parry disc or something with risposte disc to tank for around 5-8 seconds while you QUICKLY land a debuff and slow.

4) Post clerics outside his room, they can heal through walls and they got enough healing to do without healing themselves.

5) Make sure everyone has right-click items, his AE strips 1 or 2 buffs (i forget).

6) Have fun! He's actually much smaller looking in person. I suggest have DB wizards or a **** load of rogues, oh and a lotta patch healers with a bard in every group, same old 'big boss' raid tactics, blah blah...

GL in killing this guy! We got very close but we needed more damage output. Cyas!
RE: Dozeker Tactics
# Jul 13 2003 at 5:47 PM Rating: Default
Just a couple of points here.

I would agreed that not slowing him would probably lead to losing the fight. However, keeping him fully DoTed has nothing to do with whether you are successful or not.

Second, his AE is in actually not as bad as you make is sound. Granted it's unresistable, but it's also only 400 points. Guardian Wurms have 650 points in AEs, albeit resistable. Also Doze doesn't AE as much as they do. All in all there is little difference except it's a longer fight.

Sacrificing a ranger to get him slowed is not necessary. I can tank him in defensive with a CH rot (or CH+torpor, which works quite well) for a few seconds and gain enough aggro to allow the Shammies to get him slowed without dying. Just make sure nobody is eating AEs while you do it and it's not hard to do.

I've never had his AE strip more than 1 buff. Everyone doesn't have to have clickys, just have someone like a SK in the group and after each AE they can cast one of thier group buffs. It doesn't cost much mana and will save everyones buffs.

Why do you have to have a bard in every group? Resists don't help against him.

Pointless to compare a strategy used 2 years ago when he was just beginning to be downed regulary, to one used now, when he can be done by one person playing a few toons. He was a *****, then. Now he's just someone's *****.
But, fair info, nonetheless.
