In Lesser Faydark there is a new gnome NPC that stands near the Observatory (near
cognoggin) by the name of Grynnaf Einoom.

Grynnaf Einoom looks at you and wonders if he is looking for the Scalekeeper?
"I am looking for the Scalekeeper"
Grynnaf Einoom says 'Ahh...Ye be lookin for Nortlav then. Nortlav is a strong fella.
Ye dunna want to mess with the likes of him. He's known as a dragonslayer. I heard
that he keeps the scales of the dragons he's slain. Yer not impressed, eh? All the
dragons he's killed have died by the blade of a [rusty weapon].'
"What rusty weapon?"
Grynnaf Einoom says 'Aye. I dunno why he does what he does. But every dragon he's
killed died by the likes of a rusty weapon. I dunno where he is now, but I heard he can
be found in the depths of Norrath, surrounded by darkness.'
Feel free to try to get him to talk more, or give him the weapon. (note: this is for information only, I have not tried it.)

has anyone ever tried sharpening the blade at a forge with sharpening stones? at least then it would be a tarnished throneblade =/

Nortlav spelled backwards is Valtron, the lead GM on the Erollisi Marr server. Just a little tidbit of information on where Verant is pulling their names from now, =)
As for the night we encountered him, We were just moving past the jail, we were going to move down to the pool area, and we bumped into a rock golem on the way down. No problem. Then I see that one of the tanks in the other group was slain by Nortlav, of course the enchanter died in milli seconds, and the main tank was not far behind, with the golem and Nortlav both beating on him. The other party evaced out, and we were down to 3 in our party, the secondary tank already been killed in the time it took me to con Nortlav, even con to 54 and still dubious at the time. I gated out, and see the shaman in my group gate out with about half a bubble of HP left, and the necro FDed in front of me. The Necro lived, but was stuck down there for about an hour.
No one had even seen Nortlav until that golem agroed on us, and Nortlav seemed to spawn on our heads. He is now hanging around the zone line, no clue how he managed that one.

Yeah, it does kind of scream "backwards name!" doesn't it? I was wondering who "Valtron" was. :)

Here are the definate things we know so far. We're putting together a few groups of people tonight to try and take him out as well.
I have been experimenting with him to see just what he's made of, this is what I've found.
Is level 52-55(i say this because he was level 52 the night we conned him)
He hits for up to 223
Has a 1500pt Lifetap
Seems to be a "proc" because there is a chance it can occur with each hit he lands.
Is VERY MR to most spells.
Ice Comet and Lure type wizard spells will stick.
Also, necro DoTs will stick.
He seems to have a normal 52 mob HP but is just majorly buffed offense wise.
Probably going to try VS tactics on him tonight.
I'll post if we kill him to give an update on what else we find out.

Couple things to add to the above post.
He's tied to Rock Golems if you aggro or kill one (even at the entrance tunnel) there's a chance you'll see him.
Shammy cold spells work as well so it's a good bet all classes cold based spells will work.
VS tatics do work on him.
He doesn't like anyone regardless of con.

Nortlav was not level 55 the day me and a few of my guildmates from Vita Infinita ran into him on Lanys. He conned blue to our warrior Hurm Grey who was level 53 and yellow to one of our necros there Skar Phace wgo was level 51. So Nortlav on our server for that day atleast was 52. Please update the level range.

yes we fought im too. we aggrod him some how and he wiped out an 18 pple raid of 50-55's. he wiped out our ench's and clerics first, then the rest. I think he has multiple HT's. Must be one of the new scale holders for the epics since they were moved from dragons? *shrugs*

This guy hits for about 190 on average. He killed 15 people in one and a half minutes on our raid and every group had a cleric 54+ he HT'd for about 1500 an killed a 48 bard with it

Just ran into this guy and he conned even so is at least down to level 53

hate to say it but it wasnt HT it was lifetap this guy is hardcore dmg is right and he has high mr cause we tryed chain stunning with 4 chanters all got resisted after wind of tashanian also he hits way fast and on chanters he likes to summon you and life tap and then pick another one

Aye...Nortlav is a very nasty individual. Our enchanter was dropped with on lifetap without warning. Several other members of the raid party were lost. My question is where did he spawn on these other gruops. He spawned on us at the enterance of the castle. I am unsure whether this was a bug or what? But, it seems to me that it would be more appropriate for him to pop in an area more isolated.

When we encountered him on the raid, he was standding around near the entrance of the castle.
As we gathered for the second time after the wipeout he caused (*g*), we had a fight at entrance to castle, and someone used an AoE weapon. Well, he was near enough to aggro on the poor fellow. At least he left the rest alone ;) It was a scary thing when the shout came "Nortlav is here, no one attack, and noone heal X".
