Seahorse Scales. These are used for a quested level 53 Paladin spell, Force of Akera, a 4 second stun. They are stackable and common drop, sell to vendors for not very much, and are usually overstocked and cheap in baz
They are immune to runspeed changes, which is inconsequential, as they don't run at low health.
As a 55th level Paladin, I didn't notice their MR to be unusually high, as probably 80% of my stuns hit. With Glamour of Tunare on them, virtually all the stuns hit.
Pacify works nicely on them for single pulls.
Try to fight them with your back to a wall, as you will get knocked around quite a bit. Helps to keep your spell interrupts to a minimum. They stun frequently if you have your back turned, which is normally the case on a long pull.
With ~1250AC, they hit for usually about 70-140.
They can drop any of the three quest gems for Velious BP quests: Pristine Emerald, Flawless Diamond, Black Marble. These sell to merchants for about 142pp.
this place is awsome. we went here with a 60 warrior, 55necro, 54 druid, 55 monk, 56 cleric, and 54 enchanter, we trieed killing seahorses, hehe we couldnt get less than 3 ata time and was difficult to have the casters out of the water and the tanks in fighting. So we gave up on that and got outa the water and just faught the walrus looking things and the elephant looking ones. 1 piece of netted kelp dropped in the hour that we were there and 6 quest gems and many many normal gems. This was very fun for us. I personally love this zone. the preffered lvl for this place is 55+ for casters 57+ for druids and 58+ for tanks BUT ppl break those rules quite often =) i say if u can handle it then go for it!
I agree...ths place is awesome! I would disagree on the level though. It is easy to wipe but if you have a well-balanced group of good people you can pwn this zone at 50ish. I've been tanking here fine at 51 ( 4213 hps 1056 ac with virtue ) you just gotta have a slower. Oh and...pacify is teh rox. Never underestimate your cleric's pulling prowess =)
Salkan - 54th Druid of Tunare Ulic - 51st Warrior of Rallos Zek Torvo
Conned yellow to 52, blue to 55, so the level 53 estimate most likely correct ;)
They were social so they usually brought friends on pulls and our 52 enchanter was not successful at getting off a single mezz due to resists... so every time we had to TM one and more often than not just ended up swimming out of the water onto shore to clear aggro, then try again for a single. The chanter was trying to slow too, and I think she was having a lot of trouble landing these too-they have high MR.
Hit for 179 max... which is ouchies for me as the 52 SK main tank, but luckily we had our big man cleric and a couple of druids on me for heals. Think that's all I've got to say... be careful in this zone, it's dangerous! =P
I recently visited SG with my 55 Shaman. I found the Seahorses would frequently resist Turgur's Insects (best Shaman slow) 4 or 5 times in a row. Even Tashed and Malised, they would still resist slows far too frequently.
I'd say probably 50+ can go here, but it is a place where you have to bring your own group. Been there twice, once with a group of solid 55+ and got wiped out in the well room, the other group was 50+ camped the entrance, and had a blast with the sea horses. Just be weary of the Complete Healing. As far as being better then Maidens, I'd say its more fun, but a little more rough then ME.

Every seahorse in SG (using a 200 tracking skill) conned even at lev 53. Straight melee mobs, hard hitters, a lot of hit points, no surprises. They can't be rooted or snared ("cannot change the run speed" message), and will try and run when badly hurt, but move at a crawl. Whether this is because of the water or a recent patch change I'm not sure. Moderately strong against magic, fairly strong against fire. They can be mezzed and slowed, but it can take awhile due to resistances.
seahorses no longer move at a crawl when near death , they move at a fairly noral speed . this changed with the recent updates to pathing. if you learn the area they flee to in a given area most areas can be hunted fairly safely.
Ancient Seahorse Hide Cloak a/c 20 Hp+25 Wt. 9.0 Ancient Fishing Pole Hp+75 Effect: Enduring Breath
Rumor the Seahorse Hide bracer drops off this also. The Cloak and Bracer would be the rares, Pole is common. These have about 12-13k hp, and CAN be Mezzed, although they have high MR.
