Two hairs dropped in 14 kills.
170 MR resisted every spell
All were green at 65 except one LB enchantress
Dropped to 130 MR and still resisted everything.

Siren Nerf?
# Dec 22 2002 at 7:12 PM Rating: Default
For the past two weekends we have pulled the sirens at the SS zone in. Usually it takes about half mana for both myself (52 Paladin) and my girlfriend (48 Druid).

Today...we were hard pressed to do one siren enchantress ... we both used up all our mana two separate times doing two enchantresses. So then we go get KEI and come back and pull a thrid one... this time, I get hammered with nukes for 453 and 503 and then charmed and kill my druid friend...doh.

What is this? Another change on Verant's part?

Killed them by the SS zone camp. Three on north shore, two to the north of the shore underwater--watch out for bulthar add, two to the south around the cliff, and one on shore standing on a boulder with a boulder above her concealing her from above.

These were pie. Pet tanked most of the time because they kept trying to charm/mez/dot me with their feeble skills. 60 necro with 98-112 MR I resisted 95% of their spells and got hit with a nuke or two. I pulled all of them onto the north shore with the 3 spawn. Spawn timer was about 17.5 minutes. Hairs were fairly rare, got 6 out of the 10 I wanted in about 5 hours.

DB/LB mobs hit for <105 max, greens hit for ~95. When breaking they will be buffed of course, casted lots of mez and suffocate. Usually they will chain cast whatever they lead off with, i.e. Mez till they die, charm till they die, nuke/dot till they die.

Annoyances - wandering bulthar, wandering othmir, waiting for the sirens to engage melee and stop chain casting, getting tashed, loosing pet to charm and praying for hairs.
Not so hard

As a druid 55, i buffed all saves, also put on all resist gear(not much) and got about 140+ all saves, with that i resist nearly all them cast, then dispell, snare, nuke/root, i do not DOT them only to not let them much time to cast.
Well with 255 Wis and a good KEI, took me about 30% mana per sirens. They are low on Hp so they die quickly.

Now, as a Cleric it's really more easy again to kill them, same thing as with druid, buff urs saves, but cleric have a pretty good advantage is them Stun spell, mem that : Heal,Heal OT, Dispell, root, regular DD, and 2 stun, gate(hehe in case) then, dispell, stun, root, and start ur DD/root deal, u can also melee a lil and interrupt them cast with Bash. Not hard, just need few try to find ur better way to pull them safely.

hope it's help.

7th Shawl too?

Do the CS Sirens also drop the Runed Seashell item needed for the 7th shawl?

Pull with fear?
# Jun 04 2002 at 11:35 AM Rating: Decent
What direction does fear pathing go? Could you stand where they run to and start off with a fear first and then snare/dark?

Fearing the SS ones when they are at the top of the ridge will walk them harmlessly along the ridge... very nice fear path.

Easy way to handle Sirens
# May 28 2002 at 6:36 AM Rating: Good
Sirens are actually fairly easy to handle if you're an enchanter. DON'T use a pet. lead off with Mez, then Tash, then Mana sieve 3 times and Theft of thought. then cast Torment of argli. This will break mez, pull it to siren's grotto zone and root. If you had to mez other siren's then zone in and out of grotto to clear agro or they can attack you from underneath world geometry. Asphyxiate your target and MAKE SURE you keep Torment of Argli on them or they can gate out. Just mana tap, keep the Dot's on and nuke when you have mana. Reroot as necessary and keep bedlam on yourself to avoid damage. You might also want to slow them if they seem to break root a lot, however Enchantress have lots of hp and you may need that mana to kill em and keep them under control.

A few thoughts on the Siren's
# Jan 03 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Excellent
I am a Necromancer and currently 3 blue from level 55. In addition, I am working on the Prayer Shawl (#6) and currently in need of the hairs from these lovely women. The last few days I have spent either soloing them or partnering up and have killed roughly 50+ of them and have the following to show for it:

9 Conch Shell Horns (the Bard only Brass Instrument)
2 Runed Shell Necklaces (5 charges of Enduring Breath on it)
4 Siren Hairs (Failed my first 2 attempts at Shawl #6, back to needing more hairs :(
Numerous words, runes, mid level gems, platinum, etc.
Few drop only spells (i.e. Wizard Invis to Undead, Lesser Familiar, etc.

Also just over 2 blues worth of exp at level 54 (Im going to agree with my friend on this one, level 54 seems to be a DOUBLE hell level, 51-53 did not seem to take this long) The Enchantress type is of course the toughest with a mildly higher resist rate of Fear/Snare and her ability to charm so easily. The best team I have had thus far in hunting them is with a druid of equal or higher level. Its non-stop pulling these by the Skyshrine ramp. There are 3 down the rock near waters edge that you can see when standing by the Wyvern one spawn, as well as 2 out in the water just North of the 3 spawn. There are a couple more in the water on the South side of the cliff. The 3-spawn can be single pulled if level 54 (or perhaps lower, not sure on that though) even if all are blue Enchantress'es. Standing at very top of cliff with any of the 3 in line of sight, hit them with Dooming Darkness/Snare, run back to ramp by the burning pots and hit fear repeatedly until it begins to cast. Very few resists of Snare/Fear on ANY of the 3 types (Enticer, Seductress and these), send pet, Deflux while druid DD's. It is over quick folks, very little HP on them.

However, if fear is resisted, watch out. They charm you right away as soon as they are within casting range. My Magic Resist with druid buff was at 170 and I was charmed just as often as my druid partner was with his MR at 60. Worse is if fears wears off right away and pet is already there. They turn around and charm pet virtually every time it happens. Now you have a rogue necro skele pet on you quad hitting you for 57 and Backstabbing for 161 !!! Whatever you do, make sure you have DMF on all party members and SoW. Just dont SoW pet! We learned that the hard way. One instance we had a high level Enchantress almost dead, she turns around and gates to a point who knows where but was not where we pulled her from. A few seconds later she charms the 55 Druid I was with, makes him start blasting her with Chlorophyl to full health, then, while Im running back over to fear her, she charms my pet the second it wore off Druid and makes him go after me! I Feign death, but he camped me while druid kited her around. He was totally OOM and I was FD with Lich on and about dead so made a plea to anyone near the SS ramp to kill Lebn, my traitor pet ;) A fellow necro came over and killed the pet, but that sure was an exciting experience.

Finally, it seemed these were camped ONLY by folks like me in search of the no drop hairs for prayer shawl #6. So it is quite easy to partner up or get into a group. (Wow, a necro is actually needed in these groups!) These can be solo'ed if no one is doing them by Necro's/Druid/Shammy (or other classes, just not sure of which ones) even the enchantress type, but make sure to have SoW and DMF/Levitate on at all times and keep them snared and feared/rooted constantly and blast them hard. When I pulled them with Dooming Darkness and had them feared, I chain casted Deflux (310hp fast casting lifetap, never resisted by these) until dead. Like the post says here as well, just drop them as fast as you can.

Good luck all!

Killing Sirens

We had a 53 chanter, 53 druid and 52 wizzie(me). The druid would target the sirens by the solo wyvern on the end near the tower, then the chanter would assist to get targeting and ae mez the bunch in the water, the druid would then single pull one out after he snared it and once on the surface the chanter would fear it, and I would nuke using Draught of Fire until dead. They lasted about 12 seconds each and we never lost a fight.
Note of warning: There is a wandering Bulwar that will come up from time to time and if he starts a fight with you while the siren is still alive best thing is for one person to pull the bulwar away and kite it while the others finish off the siren. Having the chanter die before the siren would be seriously bad for your party.
The worst thing about these mobs is their ability to charm you, if you fight them an MR of 110 or higher is recommended.

Hope this helps!

These guys also drop the Siren's Hair used in the embroidered prayer shawl quest. Looted one off a blue con enchantress last night. Other one I looted off an enticer. The one I looted the hair off of was blue con at lvl 60 and very hard to resist. 103 magic resist didn't do squat as 90% of the spells landed on me. Best way to take these out is drop their hps hard and fast.
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 17 2001 at 2:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What a bunch of useless info, how about for the rest of the world? while trying to zone to grotto to hunt velious armor gems because velks is always an utter uber mess, when i got close to tunnel, Whammo, bunch of them got me, be careful 1st time explorers, they will suprise you like they did my level 52dorf cleric self, and you will die. hope that helps more than pet chat.

My pet got killed by one of these and after that I couldnt make a new pet...got the mesage..you can only have one pet. Is ther a bug here?
RE: Pet?

One had charmed my sk friend's pet, and even after the siren died that silly skelly kept trying to beat on our tank. lol It is not a bug, just that the pet became a 'true NPC' when another NPC charmes it.

Whenever an enchanter enchants your pet it becomes an NPC forever. Strange thing I first saw about 8 months ago in Paw, a gnoll chanter charmed my pet and it become an NPC even if i camped and zoned etc - it was there for days until the server crashed.

Also this happened in Lguk when again my pet was charmed. Even if u kill the mob - u never get ure pet back..
