What faction are these guys on? I was camping the bedroom in L Guk and noticed that initially I was only apprehensive to the bats, not KOS. At least until I got into a group that was killing bats. No faction message is given, and they don't appear to be on either live or undead faction. Maybe they are in a group of their own.
My friend the rogue went to lguk at 20 something to wait for a mask and reported that these little guys almost made the whole trip go boom. So, as reported to me, Rogues are not safe hide sneaking right around the vampire bat area. Gwindor Nargothrond 44 Ranger Ayonae Ro
These things are SO annoying..this is one of the main problems ppl get killed in this zone cuz these dumb creatures see through invis and the ghouls will jump on ya from there...we should KILL THEM ALL!..hehe..
How do you get the vampire bat with pet to spawn? I've killed him twice, the first time he conned yellow at level 12, the second time he conned blue at level 13. The second time he dropped a thin bone wand.
These bats are Necromancers, sometimes they have a pet. Spells to look out for are fear, darkness (snare DOT), and life tap/spike (not sure) I am a level 13 necro, and was reading this to see about hunting these, I have gatherd most of my info from the other posts. And to Hopeabandon, what happened was you attacked the bat's pet. Lastly NECRO'S ARN'T ALWAYS UNDEAD, AS IN THIS CASE, but pets are )

These bats sound like a great way for a character to level up, practice cooking and practice his fishing through making hooks - can't wait to hunt them!
I got a vampire bat in Erud's Crossing one time w/out a pet. at lvl 9 it conned even, and was a pretty hard fight for my monk. Good thing my Mend skill was good. it about countered the Lifetap spells.
Many bards try to get to the assassin room for the mask all a rogue has to do is hide/sneak while a bard has to get inviso to undead and pray that if he hugs the crap out of the wall they will not see him got through once but when i got into room the dumb ppl evacd after waiting 3 hours when it spawnd
The worst things about these bats is that they see through invis to undead. Its bad when one attacks you, but its infinatley worse when one attacks you in the middle of a bunch of undead froggies.
I usually don't have too many problems with these, if invis to undead you hug the left wall taking the left passage, they usually won't aggro. One way to insure you won't train is to immediately stand midway between the GIBS alcove and look back into the bat room, if one aggroed you it'll be there in 5 seconds or less(horrible pathing), you can kill it there safely but do NOT let it run.

sometimes the bat with pet on erud crossing drops a wand with 3 charges of a lifetap spell that does 11dmg each time. kind of usefull in a grim situation for any class when you can do an instant 33dmg and get 33hps, also sells to vendor for same amoune even with no charges

The vampire bat in eruids crossing does have a thin boned waned, cast a necro drain spell that also heals you i belive it hit/heals for 11 dmg.....I a leve 12 magician w/ pet killed thes thng very easly all it did was cast drains and feer and darckness..all of witch i resisted..and t=for the pet just use banish summond
Occasionally in Erud's Crossing you will see a vampire bat with a pet. This is a rare spawn that drops some nice loot in the form of a necro wand. Be careful, though, as it's a bit more difficult than the normal vampire bats, probably around level 12-15, and casts some nasty necro spells.
I was wondering around the island minding my own danged business, when I see a skeleton, having not seen one on the island before I whacked it with a ward undead spell. Big mistake!! all of a sudden this bat starts casting spells on me I've never seen before. So glad I had a lay on hands, or I would have been toast. Maybe if your a caster he and his pet are easy to take out, but I was a lvl 20 pally with full buffs and health and he darn near killed me. So if your a malay class just leave him alone unless you got some casting friends handy Hopeabandon (Blind Gaurdians)
