My baby level 33 wizard alt starting quading these at level 33 by the zone in site. He was about 40% into level 33 when he started with 2000 mana. Iceclad is a hot zone atm. With LOTD popped I got two levels in 30 minutes quading these and dire wolves. Not bad at all. I had buffed with a mana regen potion to help regain mana a little faster than OOC regen gives by itself. I also popped Harvest twice. At 35 they are still mostly dark blue so you get the within 5 level exp bonus. Some are have turned light blue and I just leave them out of the quad (although even light blue one still give ok exp). Note the con colors are after the con color changes that occured a couple of expansions ago.

One of these dropped a Codex of the warrior a book that you can't open/read. Wonder what it is for... anyone know?

# Nov 11 2002 at 1:10 AM Rating: Decent
yeah, i saw somebody shouting about that codex in zone, nobody knew what it was for. its not magic or lore and identifies same as item name, might just be cash loot. still doesnt explain why its dropping off snow dervs /shrugs unknowingly

They can see through a rogues hide/sneak. Im a Lvl 35 rogue, with hide/sneak both at 180, and have been attacked by these guys a couple of times. One time, I got away with instill doubt. The other time I died. Oh well....

I remember taking on one of them when I was at level 32 and the critter conned blue. I'm a warrior and had absolutely no chance. It killed me within a minute or two whereas I could only take about 20 % of its HP down.

What they drop
# Feb 13 2002 at 2:04 AM Rating: Default

I've fought a few of them in Eastern Waste. So far they have dropped a chill dagger, a ring of frost, a chilled mantle, an ice ball or something like that, and words.

At 40th (ranger) level they take me to about 50% of health or soand about 50% of mana. Seem that they regenerate hp if they melee you; though, I am not for certain. I like to kill them with spells and arrows while they are snared and rooted.

Looted a Ring of Frost (3int 10mana) off one of these last night (12/23/01) in EW. First time I killed one of these.

One of these dervies dropped this earring ...has ac1 hp+10, mana +10 and sv cold +10 as I recall. Can't find any info on it at all. I was looking to see what price check people may have on this. It equips to all races and classes as well.
RE: Torque or Hoar Frost
# Feb 15 2002 at 12:40 AM Rating: Default
According to Everlore the price is all over the place. From 50 pp, probably someone that doesn't know its worth, to 1900 pp for someone that really needed the extra +10 vs cold for raid on Vox. A few listing between 400 to 600 pp.

I hope this helps.

These little buggers will attack anything, no matter what lvl, and are such a pain in the ***** They have no significant loot and hit quite hard for thier lvl. Thank Kanra they can't see through invis/sup camo. They'll mess up a griffin kite in a heart beat.

basically this is my first itme getting a port to iceclad insteade of taking the ship. I was imediatly attacked by this creature. I am a shaan so I have some melee in me but it took me off guard and quad hits for 60 max I think. all I did was bound my self and kept casting the spell till I was bound then died I was not worried about dying. I am level 38 shaman on vaeselle server. Icould have taken him but by the time I found I was being hit he took me down pretty hard before I could cast healing anyways.

Well i travelled there for a while with my lil group (Druid and Ranger lvl 35 and myself Pala lvl 34).
The lvl stage range is correct, but as said before, they hit hard for their lvl.
1 is easy to kill for our group, but 2 is the maximum i would fight.
3 of them and you better run or port hehe! ;)

If you get ported and you are invis will these dervs hit you???
RE: Porting in
# Jul 08 2001 at 10:58 PM Rating: Default
hey genious, if you're invis, do things ever hit you?
RE: Porting in
# Jul 10 2001 at 3:55 AM Rating: Default
genious...heh heh heh

ok, genious (/snicker), the answer is yes. Several things see through invisible most notably, but NOT LIMITED to undead. Examples of things that are not undead that see through invis...giants in FM and caster mobs that are able like to cast see invisible on themselves and their fellows.

However, to answer the original question -- Snow dervs can't see through invis.

Funny thing is he said yes they would hit you as you ported in Invised....then turned around at the end of his post and said no....hmmmm whos the genius here....sure not this fellow...and whats this rambling about FM.....gesss dude this is Velious not Kunark....shesh the audacity of some people

You need to read the filtered message in the middle to understand what he finds funny, and to grasp his full explanation. What he said was *some* things can see you Invis, but snow dervs cannot. And in that regard he is totally correct.

Ok the betiary writer is correct and wrong at the same time i am a lvl 30 paladin at moment.
I came to velious at lvl 29 these things were all red or yellow i finally found one even one im assuming that instead of starting at 27 they start at 29 and now that i am 30 i find most are yellow with a few reds and blues wondering around so 34 is about right for the maximum lvl.

Hmmmm... dunno about that maximum level, by I am a Warrior 34th and it conned blue to me. Then proceeded to HAND me my ***** Seems like a lot of stuff on Velious is underconned and hits MUCH harder than things of an equivalent level on the other islands (kunark included). IMHO of course!

Not Worth The Effort
# Jun 14 2001 at 12:10 PM Rating: Default
At least I dont think so. A friend of mine gave me his Ring of Frost when he got something better so I have no real reason to want to mess with these things anyway. But I've yet to see them drop a thing, myself.
