In the Eastern Wastes: Related to the 6th Coldain Ring quest.
In the House of Thule's Upper Floors: Note: For all map points of nameds in the House of Thule's Upper Floors (for "thulehouse2.txt" map files), see this quest entry. Icefang hits for a max ~13,000. He is known to spawn in the room just east of the hallway to Miragul's Nightmare (PHs are the "a hungry beast" mobs in this room).

Icefang is part of the 6th ring quest. He is walking towards the ry'gorr hut near the bridge. This is triggered by talking to the ghost Korrigain and showing him the 5th ring.
Please, rangers, check before you kill him if someone is questing.
(I really don't like to suggest it since I really like the dwarfs but if u want to kill Korrigain to go away train some giants on him he can't handle... I really haven't said that. Again, please, check first if someone want's to do the quest.)

Hail,
Went to EW last night 5-15 to camp Icefang and rake in some exp, however when I got there Korrigain was up. Since I had done my homework I knew not to attack Icefang while Korr is up. So off I went to hunt the other fearable mobs in EW. I kept checking the camp every 15 mins or so to see if Korr had despawned. To my disappointment Korr didn't despawn before I had to log for the evening(about 2 hours).
So here is my question is there a "trick" to making Korr despawn?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

He is a ghost and will spawn only in the evening and will despawn at dawn

Ive camped the wallys and Icefang many times. Well yesterday I went back, and Icefang is doing something new. He now spawns in hut, immediately walks out in front and you get the text message 'Icefang whimpers aas he approaches'. He stops in front of the hut for 15 seconds or so, and then runs off to the east, despawning within seconds. Then it all starts over again. I tried hailing and saying many different things, healed him, attempted to give him mammoth and walrus meat. Nothing worked. Anyone got a clue whats gotten into Icefang??

I've noticed the same. More than likely a result of the May 8th patch. Hope it gets fixed, as he is a great solo mob for high 40's rangers such as myself. This is on the Zeb server btw.

I am a 52 Ranger, and he still gives experience all the time....about 1 in 5 spawns will be solid blue, the rest light blue. Perfect area to mess around in. No wandering monsters come by there at all. Walruses a plenty just to the west of Icefang (same story as Icefang, mostly light blue and green but once in a while you can pull a solid blue out of the crowd). Also you will find Ulthorks amongst the walruses, they drop the Tusks for the Cobalt Scar quest. Just to the east of Icefang, you will find Mammoths and Rhinos and rarely a wandering giant, all light blue to solid blue. It's gets a tad boring but if you cant find a group a great place for solo experience.
I'm a 46 Ranger and this wolf gives pretty good xp. Easier to fear kite than a mammoth or rhino. It hits in the 80s-low 90s and is average toughness for his level. He spawns every 6 minutes(just enough time to kill a mammoth or walrus between spawns...hehe).
Here's a problem you run into when kiting him. Every so often, Korrigain spawns in front of his hut for about 10 minutes. Korrigain /cons apprehensive to me, but the problem is that if you attack Icefang and get within Korrigain's agro radius, Korrigain aggros on you. Korrigain hits for about 105 and has a TON of hit points...dont try to fight him, he's one of those quest NPCs that just isn't worth the trouble. I watched a 55 warrior get his butt kicked by Korrigain. The best thing to do if Korrigain is spawned is to pull Icefang to an area out of Korrigain's aggro radius and then beat up on Icefang.
In the event that you do aggro Korrigain, run. Run far and camp him...he will be despawned by the time you get back.
Icefang is great ranger xp for a very safe camp if you're careful, so I hope that the info helps out.

Level is 37-39. No faction hits when killed but seems to be on the coldain faction. Occasionally drops Dire Wolf pelts and nothing else not even coin. Really easy for my 40 necro.

His level is not constant. At 52 sometimes he is green, but exp giving. Other times he is Blue.

Don't know if you lose faction for killing him, but he is certainly liked to Coldain faction in his attitude towards you. I suspect he will aggro on you if you fight coldain nearby, and vice versa.

I don't believe there is any faction loss what so ever and he drops a magic pelt for a quest I assume

ive killed him many a time and never got a faction hit...

I have also killed this creature and no faction hits and he gives decent exp .
