I've been roaming a lot of old world content and I'm currently sitting in Kael. Most of the stuff up to Gleed is proving fairly easy, but these wolves are TOUGH.

I generally try to pull the whole pit and melee it out with my ranger (55) and tank merc while my cleric (52) and cleric merc provide healing. I keep aggro by popping off a Fireshard Ring just as soon as I have them all tightly grouped and rely on my clerics to keep us alive. The ring does 7500 damage and takes the wolves to about 50% of their health. This is hands down the toughest fight I've had in KD so far.

I bought a second ring and put it on the cleric. Last night, the ranger fired his off, then the cleric stepped in and fired his. Only, I didn't notice until too late that the ranger had been interrupted. I immediately hit the hotkey for the ranger's ring. Two dead clerics and five dead wolves later I put on Camo and ran the cleric's body back to the zone line.

Where are they???
Excellent Pets

Those really are some of the best Pets available, and in my believe the best in Kael for Chanters too.
They double for up to 240, and most important they can Dual Wield - give them Mage Equip or any 2 rusty Weapons, speed em and you have a hell of a Damage Dealer...

Giants in Kael tend to have a high resistance, but those Wolves dont - very often my Charm lasts for the full possible time.
Important for Druids: some are charmable with Call of Karana, best thing if you get those coz casttime and cost is much lower than for the higher Charms.

They do summon, but they wont if you keep them above 97% Health - which is rather easy in a group since they have a VERY high regeneration rate.
For joy/faction killing you can also use one to kill the lower Giants like Leutnants, its funny if your pet never drops below 97% and kills every giant in seconds...

About getting them: near the palace to King T. thereĀ“s a Pit with 5 or 6 Wolves, pacify them and pull the first out.
If you think that is too too risky you can also kill 3 Giants first, and pull one of the 2 that are under the bridge leading to the Palace.
And if you are a Druid and want to solo: Snare one, Invis yourself and run to the Zone Exit.
The snared Wolf usually will not walk back to the pit immediately, and can be charmed easy now.

Drakkel Dire Wolves are incorrectly classified as Monsters. They are Animals and can be charmed by druids.

I took a wrong turn in Kael and slipped down into some of these, they hit hard. I was killed in seconds. 237 hp dmg per hit plus they got a bash in as well.

Yes these are tough, I was on a raid and we had a bad pull and got 3 of these. I'm lvl 53 and 2 conned red and one yellow (so not sure if levels right or we just had bad luck and got tough ones), we got wupped pretty quick. Quad 245 can hunt.

Be careful pulling these, Fd breaking a must.
