Bad news for evil races
# Aug 24 2001 at 1:21 AM Rating: Default
I'm a DE necro, so I'm KOS. The only way to get around Freeport is through these tunnels.

Never having gone thru the tunnels, I merrily send my level 2 necro in. I see a pond with some dead guys in it... but I don't fall it. I continue the path, make a turn or so, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, 4 drowned citizens attack me!!!
It took me about 20 minutes to get my corpse back, cuz they kept spawning out of nowhere and killing me (I ended up summoning my corpse from a corner where I could BARELY see the corpse, but they coudln't see me).

Any tips on how to get past these guys? I kinda wanna be able to navigate Freeport....

I have a de necro (Innoruuk), unless you've done anything BIG to your faction, everyone in east and west fp cons dubiously. By the way, try the note quests in the rogue guild, I am indiff to the guards now and amiable with the merchants.

You're not dubious to EVERYONE in East and West FP. That's a bit too general. You should be Dubious to the important stuff though. The guards, most importantly, are dubious to you as are the merchants. North Freeport is KoS to you, so is the Wizard's guild, and so are some other random people.

I'll give you a quick rundown on the Notes quest:

There are five real NPCs for the thief guild down in the tunnels of East Freeport. The one you'll be getting familiar with is the dark elf girl. Can't remember her name. I believe that they begin apprehensive to you. Talk to her about help, and mention that you "can" run to Janam and Rebby's. If you don't use "can" in your sentence, she won't.

The other person who can give you a note is the dwarf, Harkin, but don't bother. He won't give you the note until you are at least indifferent with him.

Take the note from the dark elf thief, and run to West Freeport from the zone entrance near the docks. It leads you right to Janam and Rebby. Be VERY careful. There's a "peasant woman" behind them and if you get too close, she will aggro you. The monks are across the river and not really that close, but still be careful. Give the note to Rebby, then take the whiskers back to the dark elf. Repeat.

After a while, your faction with the thieves should become indifferent. It doesn't take that long. Maybe like 10 notes. Then you can start doing both quests at once, and you'll notice your faction with the merchants improving almost as quickly, while the guards goes up a little slower.

Just make sure to always con NPCs in Freeport when you are passing them. Just cause the guards or others love you, doesn't mean everyone else will.

# Aug 13 2001 at 10:33 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, it's official. I JUST got a message from the GM saying that the drowned citizens have been temporarily removed from the game. He said to keep an eye open on the patch messages for their return.
Makes me wonder what they're doing with them? Hopefully nothing too drastic. I just want to get the skin.

i got the flesh off the sailors pretty easily, just swim through the boat, you'll **** them off pretty easily. i saw a greenblood zombie, although he didn't drop the flesh, but at least i know he spawns. but THESE freakin' guys. where are they!? someone said they removed them with a patch, are they ever coming back? do they spawn somewhere else?

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 08 2001 at 7:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It would be funny if you became a drowned citizen after you drown and die and you had to kill your corpse to get your stuff and instead of sayin "SoandSo's corpse" it would be "a drowned warrior" or sumthin.

I have the same problem as you guys with the no-spawn citizen, I spent 2 hours sitting on the spawn spot last night but nothing comes up, I remember last time when I was there (2 months ago), I can see some drowned citizens wandering around. Just want to know what happens.
ps. I can find the greenblood zombie also, can anyone help me on that please?
RE: I think it is broken
# Jul 19 2001 at 5:40 PM Rating: Default
The Greenblood Zombie is a easy one. You need to go to Ferrott and head towards the river. Follow the river until you see a pilar laying across the water, not a bridge. He spawns in that area. Catch. If he doesn't spawn you have to kill some of his PH's which are swamp alligators, and Pirahnas. He will spawn. Did it two nights ago, however, didnt have to kill any Ph's he just came up on track and I killed him. Hope that helps you out
Spawn broken or is it triggered
# Jul 18 2001 at 10:14 AM Rating: Default
I just spent 9 hrs straight camping for these guys on the Mith Marr server. Also kept checking tracking in all that time. From the well in the sewers I could track the necro on the other side so I know I wouldn't have missed a spawn if it was on either sewer. Makes me think this is a triggered spawn or its broken. I petitioned and a GM did come check out all the freeport zones saying that this spawn/quest was 'fixed'. Heard that before when I did Grimrot for my cleric and spent two months waiting for a grimrot that would never show.
Citizen will not spawn.

I have run into similar problems with this spawn lately as I have been camping it for several days. Before I knew about the Quest that requires the Waterlogged Flesh, I had past the drowned citizens many times, but now that I need them they are never there. Hmm ... someone in W FP suggested that they are a triggered spawn. If so soes anyone have any ideas or info on how to get them to spawn? Any help is greatly appreciated =)

I need to kill these guys for a chunk of waterlogged flesh. Last item in a quest for a decent foot item for my Druid. I have been trying for 3 days off and on...about 7 hours total. They have not spwned once!! i think this got broke or changed in teh last patch. maybe they are triggered somehow.

Anyone have any info about this?

Never thought I'd be slaughtered by these guys at lvl 25, but I did. I was buffing and binding at the FP gate when somebody came up to me with the question if I could help him. Well, I'll try, what and where? He died in the sewers and needed me to drag his corpse. Oke, so I followed him into the wall, buffed him, stole his breath, invissed him after asking him if there were undead down there. No there weren't, he replied. Remember guys, this was the first time I've ever been in these sewers, so I believed him. The MINUTE I jumped in the pool I was jumped by 4 drowned citizens and AARGH!!! I had all my buffs memmed (hehe actually kind of funny come to think of it) so I tried to get them off me with my humble Runed Totem staff: I died.
Thank Tunare I'm in a very good guild where 4 of my guildmates (35+) came running to help me out, otherwise I'd still be lying down there...

Had this happen to me once when I was around level 7 or 8. I'm a Half-Elf Ranger from Surefall, and I didn't know the dead bodies I saw at the bottom weren't dead. I, like so many other newbies, fell victim to the horde. Luckily, when I went back I was able to summon my corpse from the very shallow part of the pool without all the drowned citizens noticing me. If you fall down in the pool and are too low level too kill these guys, try to swim towards the most shallow part of the pool. You may be able to summon your corpse out of the water and safely loot it.

# Apr 21 2001 at 11:24 AM Rating: Default
I also hate them now. I was playing a new character of mine, an ogre sk. I decided to train up in the FP SK guild. I headed thru the tunnels, No problem, trained...

OMW out I fell in the pool, they jumped me

so, I pretty much just layed down and died, being only lvl 5

no problem, except that I was bound in feerott. a guildmate agreed to help out, but as he got there, and tryed to clear them out, he realized that they were hiting him too fast to get a spell off. so he ended up gating about 5 seconds after I arrived to loot up, I only looted about half my gear before I got jumped and died again.

Then while zoning from feerott to innothule to go back the second time, I went LD. Grrr...

After re-logging in, I continued on my journey, the shammy who was helping me before decided to log, so I asked a lvl 40 monk to help out. he headed that way, and went in to look for my corpses, didn't see anything... and as I passed through North Ro, I got jumped by a Puma and a madman. Died again.

So. No experience loss, no problem, however, a RL friend of mine had lent me his gear off his warrior to get me started out. The 30 minute corpse timer really sucks. I lost over 10kpp worth of stuff. A Yak, a sludged girdle, almost a full suit of Ry'gorr Armor, not to mention about 2k in $$... Talk about a bad day. I quit EQ. I'm going to beta test Anarchy Online. check it out.

I hate these guys. Sometimes after hunting orcs in the commons i come back to freeport to rest, lick my wounds, or sell stuff. Every now and then i see these guys running rampant, killing everything in sight. They are yellow to me so i just zone back to the commons. When i come back i see the bodies of every newbie in west freeport. Its an eerie sight.

These four undead are like skeletons and attack everything, like my 32 necromancer.
I found zombie skin, the above mentioned waterlogged flesh, rawhide armor and bronze weapons on them.
Their disease spell lasts very long.
They are really a bad surprise for example for a low level troll shadowknight, who goes to the guild to train and then falls into water.

They are aggresive to the point of stupidity like attacking a friends 54 wizzie. It was pretty funny to watch them get slaughtered.

# Jan 19 2001 at 3:22 PM Rating: Good
I discovered these poor souls a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've found their pattern. They spawn in fours at the bottom of the aforementioned pool. They drop rusty weapons, and about 50% of the time they carry a piece of Rawhide armor.

They also drop Waterlogged Flesh. This is a quest item. I'll not yet divulge the full details, but I will say it starts in a less-frequented area of Rivervale. Good luck.

at West FP gates, make a left (facing the gate with your back to EC) go into the fake wall in the corner and start walking, you'll come to a watery area, don't go in the water unless you want to fight them, they tend to gang up as soon as you fall in

they are not hard, just that there's a few of them (I had 3), they proc a disease based dot, they range slightly lower than 12-13, because I had a blue one at 11 (only con'd one)

oh, and they look like your standard poor human npc, messy hair, tattered clothes, etc. but they seemed to be in the dead postion when I saw them before they agro'd (didn't take a long look, could be wrong)
RE: Gen info, loc, look
# Feb 24 2001 at 6:25 AM Rating: Good
Yep. It's a four-pack spawn, and they spawn "dead" position then pop up as you get near. I then gleefully shredded the lot of em,being 30th. Evil races can get to em via the tunnel system-just take the zone-exit tunnel from EFP and then take the first sharp turn when the tunnel splits after you hit WFP underground.

They drop loot a lot like shrivelled mummies-I found rawhide boots on one, plus one had the waterlogged flesh. If you've seen desert madmen, you know the NPC model. Nothing different from that.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 17 2001 at 7:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) some ****** trained about 10 of these to the gate in freeport, and since the guards don't touch them, they were running around killing all the newbies in one hit. it was downright hilarious. until one of them hit me. and then they all had to die.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 18 2001 at 4:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Um, I didn't find it so funny! I had just turned in a deathfast belt at the milita house which lvl'd me to 12! Right after I hear my DING I get hit. There were 3 of them on me, and I was so shocked and stunned I kept going through the wrong door to get out. I finally got killed outside, and lost my lvl. Hmmmm, now that I'm reading this, I guess it is pretty funny ;P

no there are not rare they dwell in the underground part of West Freeport if you pass the little ledge you can see then lying in the water.
when you go down the hall go strait don't turn when you do they are there and in massive numbers
and they can RIP the head off anyone lvl 5 and below

If this occured on torvonillus, it was me. Really sorry. I took them to gaurds and kept running, didn't realize they wouldn't be killed by the guards. I had just found them as well, must be relatively new. They spawn in the resevoir down the tunnel to the right of the gate (facing the gate.) They conned blue to my lvl 12 wizard so they must be 11 or lower. Four of them spawn and they all aggro at once. I paid the price for my crime, the disease they give "just called Disease" is pretty bad, seems worse than normal. I lost two bubbles to it while i was sitting down, my last two bubbles. Again, really sorry, i hate losing levels.

I had some indication that the tunnels under Freeport might no longer be safe, after having been surprised by a necromancer, spectre, and necro's pet in the aqueducts under Qeynos. You see, I was in Qeynos to slay a certain dwarf. We fought at the docks, he called Bruno the bouncer on me. I dived into the water and zoned to the aqueducts. Ok, no worries here. I just zoned back and what do you know, that dwarf hadn't forgotten about our recent argument. Here came Bruno again, and again I zoned. I decided to cross to N. qeynos to avoid this problem.
I am pretty familiar with this route. I saw a necro's pet before I hit its aggro zone- i turned around and saw a spectre headed my way. Back into the water and around a corner, you guessed it, the necro himself.

So, did I mention that I was still bound in E Freeport? (I am a lazy shaman at times, I figured I would gate and hop a boat after harvesting Trumpy's head.) Hey, I was still scratching my head, wondering were those necros and spectres came from. I headed to the catacombs before i realized, wrong city, (I have a 60 INT). Ok, I am here, I can get to W. Freeport and make my run from there. No Problem. Came upon the pool near the W. Freeport exit near the gate, when i heard a splash, "some null wit has fallen into the pool" I think to myself. They are thrashing about alot, "newbie."Must have a low swim score. Then a drowned citizen lands a hefty strike to my back. With my SoW and Sob buffs, I barely made it back to the E Freeport zone. I decided it was shorter to go through N. Ro to get back to Qeynos.

I managed to cross Kith and Highpass with most of my skin intact. I thought I was home free running down the gorge with my nice SoW et al. "Hey, who was that guy casting a spell in that tower i just passed? I don't remember seeing him before." A bandit caster started zapping me and gave chase. I made it tho the Plains by running down into the gorge and up the other side and down again. Ok, the bandit is still after me, but i think i am going to make it... just need to swerve around those lions... smack into a couple of dark stalkers.
