In Kael Drakkel, the King's Madness: Part of the event "The Madness of King Tormax" (see this quest entry for the group version and this quest entry for the raid version).
Decided to try and get the Craslith, but I noticed this poor old dragon did something pathetic. He tried to flee/run...
...But he's perma-rooted, so he just stood there, fear engulfed his eyes. His gaze upon his allies as they sat there happily flapping and ignoring him. Dropped three whips and other crap.
Oddly enough, I was kindly to Claws of Veeshan and after killing him, still kindly to them. Not only did they not care to assist him, they don't care all that much when you do vanquish him.
starting faction for a wood elf tunare worshipping ranger is glares threateningly.
zoning in from cobalt scar, with 200 skill, I cannot track Yelinak at the entry spot. running up towards the maze, using the map, at the closest possible location I still cannnot. Going into the maze into the far north west area I still cannot. after pasing the maze into the next part, even in the far north west corner there I cannot track Lord Yelinak. With 200 skill I had to be so far into Skyshrine and so close to Yelinaks lair that I may as well have camped outside the lair itself.
Quick question. I'm factioned as 'ally' with all other mobs in the zone (except the spy, of course), but for some reason I am scowling with Yelinak. Any idea why?
There are 2 factions at work in Skyshrine. One is Lord Yelinak and he is the only mob on that faction. Almost all other mobs in zone are on Claws of Veeshan. which you can raise several ways. killign in kael, killgin in crystallos and more. You need to raise Lord Yelinak faction
I haven't fought Yelinak as much as Dain and Tormax simply because he is a pain to get to, but this is what I remember off the top of my head. Better than having a blank description!
Lord Yelinak Max Hit: ~700 Rampages: Yes, pretty often too Enrages: Yes Flurries: No Slowable: No. "Target is immune to changes in its attack speed" just like all the other Velious faction leaders. HP: ~350,000 Definitely able to be crippled
He's unslowable but really doesn't hit that fast. Either that, or he doesn't hit for 700 very often. Even unslowable his melee dps is not very spectacular. I never tanked him myself so I'm not sure which one, lol.
Easily the hardest of Dain, Tormax, and Vindi. He's the only one that isn't completely straightforward. Annoying without lev, but he doesn't dispell so as long as you've got it, you're good.
I was at ally status on /con of Yelinak, so turned in my Tormax head and got my reward. I had a box who was almost ally to COV, and wanted to see the default Yelinak status was, and it appears to be scowling. She was in combat before she got to the gate, and was on Yelinak's target by HoTT also. Fortunately, this level 1 box wasn't summoned or attacked at that range and camped out while I brought in a friendly witness (the two witnesses contributed nothing to the fight except Leadership AA's). I was buffed so engaged. Opp's, no lev, no haste, clarity or beast pots used, but too late for that. What a ride it was. Maybe ten minutes over all, and during that time I hit all my buttons, used two HOT pots, and was low on health and mana at the end. I had a hard time hitting a one half second DD spell and not gettting it interrupted, not to mention self healing, leving myself or getting additional buffs from pots, which I quickly gave up on. I got thrown all over the room a bunch of times, usually to get summoned back instantly, sometimes left alone for a second or two. I didn't seem to take damage from the throws that I saw. I didn't notice any Dots on me. I didn't have anything dispelled. I should have parsed it and paid more attention, but had to camp right afterwards. Loot was four spells, Yelnak's Head, the ranger whip, the mask, the shield, SK sword, and Yelinak's Talisman. Gratz rot on some stuff, Bazaar on the mask, bank on the spells. I would recommend if you try it you get max buffs. I was close to 25K hp/4400 AC. I conned a drake afterwards, and was still warmly to COV. Poor Yelinak. Poor giants, as I need to make up for it. If it has loot, it must die!
Edit: Tormax was a standard beat down. Nothing fancy or difficult besides being ready for a bad guy. Not leving was a big mistake here, and made this seem much harder to me than Tormax was when I did him.
Edit: And as mentioned below, no assists happened from the nearby mobs, even though I got thrown by COV faction mobs a lot. I really wish I had parsed it and had more time to pay attention too fight details.
Edit: Duh! I did parse it. (I didn't know it was still running) Yelinak had about 509K hp, and the fight lasted 8.5 minutes. His DPS on me was 122, mine on him 1.2k. I had about 75 casts during the fight, and a good number of them were un-intteruptable weapon procs. I had 20 interrupts total, so about 1 in 3 of the remainder were interrupted. A few were longer casts like heals and Arc or Arrows at the begining until I gave up with long casts. But a lot of the interrupts were for the 1/2 second cast time DD spells as I thought during the fight. 40% of his attemptded hits landed, some were misses, and the rest were dodged, riposted, or parried.
75 Cleric soloed and trashed him .. Long fight about 45min... Lost Tena in first couple min.. Stripped like 6 buffs at about 40% so make sure you have lot of junk buffs and keep eye on Levi... if levi drops he will play ping pong with you...
75 SK, 785 AAs, 14.4k hp 3.2k ac unbuffed. He was a total candy *** untill about 40%, when he seemed to start trying or something. Up untill that point, I hadn't used any mana or pots. Ended the fight out of mana but full health, having used 4 pots, Soul Shield, Leech Touch (I only just got it, so it's only 900 damagE), and Leech Curse. He's permarooted, and the floor in his lair is slippery, so used levitate. Took about 30 minutes to kill him. He's got a knockback, did 2 damage, and was really irritating, made casting very difficult at times. Dropped the Outrider's Taming Whip, Mask of the Dragon Slayer x2, Soul Defiler, Monster Summoning 3, Gift of Brilliance, Divine Strength, Aegolism, and of course his head and talisman.
Stupid me, I didn't parse it... His max hit looked to be 440, he hit for 90 alot, immune to slow, doesn't miss often, and hits very fast. I would guess on the order of 5-700k hp. Also of note, he seemed to try to run at about 5%, because he just stopped attacking me, and stood there while I finished him off.
Only thing he hit me with spellwise was that knockback and the occaisonal Mind Cloud landed (maybe 4 times over the course of the fight), on a MR of 476.
I can't think of any other relevant information, 'cept that the other mobs in the room didn't assist him. Any questions, feel free to send me a tell.
Course, so is the loot. Downed tonight with war shm dru clr mnk, and it was frankly a joke. Everyone camped out to avoid faction hit except the warrior. He hits for a pathetic amount on todays characters. Resisted every single time he AE'd, and his "upgrade" with this knockback? It's a proc, on anyone he hits...and lev pretty much negates it to a couple feet. I spent whole fight (shaman) dotting poison (belly cast of course) and nuking and canni'n whole time. Has very few HP's and is a joke compared to Tormax and other boss types. Grats clr on ST key :)
Well after doing it w/Vindi/Idol of RZ/and AoW... We decided to try our hand at it w/Lord Yelniak...Sure enough we did it, 70 pally, two 70 clerics, 70 rogue, 70 wizard, 70 shaman, 70 chanter, and 67 rogue....All were boxed by my girlfriend and I w/the exception of 70 rogue, and 70 Wizard.
We failed the first time we attempted...while we were trying to box the wizard as well...after that the wizard logged on and played himself and it was cake...dropped the robe, soul defiler, head, talisman, one of the ears...and lastly the shield... all in all was fun =)
too bad this so called ranjer is using MQ to cheat the game.ranked 29 on his server he is not enough of a player to even come close to doing a feat like this. he has videos all over the place of him using the hack to beat down mobs like this. he is a total disgrace to the game
a) I don't cheat. b) I don't update my magelo. c) Care to link any videos of ME hacking?
Was completely legit kill on a normal server (AB). Wasn't the first mob that I've soloed that people first didn't believe it could be done. Do your research next time before accusing.
Oh, and he's been cleric soloed too as of 1min ago.
If he really only hits for 600ish then it wouldnt be that difficult to solo. I solo giants in BoT, and guards in Solrotower on my cleric fairly easy. And they hit max in the 800 range. Would probably be a long fight, but eventually 79pts in DS and Ward of Retribution would prevail!
Its not a hack, he used the eq emulator. with the EQ emu you are the only person on, you can solo any mob ect. so the socalled "Banned Ranger" is not really Banned, he was just trying to be cool.
Dang! I have king Tormax's head in my pocket and cannot do anything with it yet. Was part of a raid that took out AoW, Vindi, the king and just about everything else in the zone. Was still needing faction with CoV so spent the weekend killing giants for toes and helmets.
My CoV faction has been maxed for a few days now, made an attempt to get to Yelinak but gave up after several hours of wandering around. In game maps are sure a pain to read in multi-level zones!
Well, today I try again after finding some decent maps and succeed in getting to Yelinak's chamber, with apprehension I target him through the gate and con him............. Scowls at you ready to attack!
Crap! I guess I went on a few to many raids for ST keys with no faction work going the other way. My old guild never tried AoW or the king, only Vindi a few times who I do not think even gives a faction hit for Yelinak.
Here are the rulers of every town that have rulers (this does not include fighting areas such as BlackBurrow, and does not include Yekisha+) King Kazon Stormhammer – 50 war - Kaladim Sir Lucan D’Lere – 48 war – Freeport Qeynos – Antonius Bale (missing) Kane Bayle/ Commander Kane – War 61 – Qeynos Catacombs/ North Mayor Gubbin – 50 war – Rivervale Mammoth – 20 to 25 war – Surefall Glade Overlord Virate Manaar – 50 SK – Paineel King Ak’Anon – 60 War – Ak’Anon Dain Frostreaver IV – 70 War – Icewell Keep King Tormax – 70 War – Kael Drakkel Lord Yelinak – 70 Hybrid – Skyshrine Lcea Katta – 60 Hybrid – Katta Castellum Lord Inquisitor Seru – 66 War – Sanctus Seru King Raja Kerrath – 65 War – Shar Vahl
He's a bit tougher now. No one has posted this about him, so I thought I would.
First off, he hits for 600 max. He hits fairly fast, and he cannot be slowed. He is permarooted, so pulling the adds in his lair is fairly easy. The floor he spawns on is slippery, so you need levitate. He rampages a bit, but not much, so it's not a problem. However, the real challenge lies in his effects.
First off, he does Knockback. So, your tank will constantly be flung all over. This makes it somewhat hard for CHs to land, since your tank will go out of range.
He also has another AE not listed here: Mind Cloud
Decrease HP when cast by 600 Increase Movement by 80% Resist: Magic (-200)
He also uses Ice Breath, which is already listed here.
Also, the spawn time on the Drakes and such near his lair is pretty long. I would say it's longer than 30 minutes. I didn't time it exactly, so I'm not 100% what the respawn time is. But it is definately longer than 30 minutes.
He's not very hard, but he has a bit of HP and the Knockback does make things a bit difficult. Good luck!
Lord Yelinak was one of the Top-end encounters when velious was released... and raids back then were only designed for about 30 people.
A single balanced EP gear'd group should be able to take him no problem, as long as group resists are in good ranges.
