Hello, I was on a Vendi raid the other night that failed miserably. I died by his hand 4 times. I can verify that the hardest I was hit was 700pts. I can also verify that the hardest my chanter buddy was hit was 700pts. Now I dont know if he ignores armor but I do know that there was a lot of difference between mine (about 1000) and his (about 500) and he hit just as hard for the same damage. If anyone has any thoughts on this please post it up.

If im correct, anyone can get hit for max damage, and anyone can get hit for minimum damage. the thing with armor is that, theoretically, you (1000ac) should get hit for max damage FAR less then chanter (500ac) does.
meaning that for each 700 you take, the chanter should take 3 700s. Of course thats not exactly right, but you get the picture
RE: Ignore Armor?
# Sep 03 2002 at 3:58 AM Rating: Decent
Level difference makes a huge difference against max damage hits.

With him being lvl 70, thats why you wont have seen much difference between 1000ac and 500ac.

Over time, Im sure the 1000ac person would get hit for less than the 500ac guy, but there wouldn't be much time to compare :)

We killed him last night with 35 players, ranging from lvl 52 or so, thru 60. We were able to kill him in one defensive cycle of a Tank. It was also our first time killing Vindi.

a 3 minute kill of vindi is very good. We tried it with 32 players (no specifics, but had 5 60 wizard, 60 epic roag, 5 55+ monks, mmm..some warriors)

we tried him 3 times, each time he was almost exactly at 50% when the defensive went down.

btw landing cripple = god.
RE: How many peeps?

that could range a lot. Depending on your DPS and number of clerics it could be as little as 24, and if you don't have the damage output and are less geared you could easily wipe with 50+.

Did this guy with 27 people our last raid, was pretty easy too. Quads 700 150-200k hp or more maybe...pretty easy, little tough to split, just make sure your clerics have rotation down and your tank has good hp...dps is always a must, mod rods help a lot too.

a guild on my server has killed him with about 15 people give or take a few, i think it was the same week they formed, lol, pretty much everyone in that guild has been playing since beta and was formerly in either one of the 3 previously most uber guilds on the server, they are all lvl 60 and are very good players, i wouldn't try it with that many people unless ya are really good though, heh, my guild failed 2 attempts with 30 some people and then it got sorta late and everyone had to leave, lol

Funny Story...

I was on an Arena raid... We were pulling the armor drop giants and an occasional named. Things were running very smoothly. A 36+/- person raid. They were coming in on fast pulls. Then someone says in the raid channel, "Lets pull Vindi..." (Jokingly, of course)

Someone says that he was killed yesterday, so he's not up. Well, he was. The puller (a damn fine monk) had apparently never pulled the arena before, and/or didn't know who Vindi was. The puller tells us, "He's here, but he's got a friend. Splitting them now." Everyone is laughing at the puller, when we see, "INCOMMING, Derakor the Vindicator." Followed by, "Derakor the Vindicator shouts, 'You will not defile yadda yadda yadda'"

Someone says, "Wow, who's doing Vindi?" "We are, I guess..."

This was followed by the raid and group channels being spammed with "OMFG", "WTF", "Should we run?", "Evac now?" and other such comments.

Then in a beautiful single pull, Derakor the Vindicator is peeled and proceeds to lay the smack-down on the entire raid. The only survivors were a few that managed to camp before Vindi got to them. I made it to 20 seconds, my wife was at 5.

The entire raid was wiped in just over a minute.

I was tent-pegged in 4 shots. 700,700,700,375. So yes, he can at least triple for 700.

I don't think I've ever had that much fun getting killed before. Wouldn't want to do it again, but hey, I can now say that I was on a Vindi raid. :)

Took him down tonight..Most of the people below are correct as far as HP, melee dmg, etc. Splitting his pets is doable. We did it with a 60 ranger, 60 war, and 58 monk. I'm not really sure on this but I am pretty sure that the monk grabbed a guardian, ran a bit, FDed, then the ranger got Derakor with snare, when vindy was a bit away, monk stood up to get agro on guardians again, then FD split em, warrior came and got em 1 at a time. Lvl 60 but easy. Went down as easy as a Veteran, if not easier. Vindy was pretty easy. We had 52 people though =) We used MT method, she busted out Defensive disc, then we had a ton of clerics druids etc healing her. My job was to chain Celest Elix on her in case, a good precaution. After about 2 and a half min of fighting, derakor went down, and the main tank was still up. We were all suprised, because we had planned to switch MTs after defensive ran out, but we killed too fast =) Boots dropped, pally got em, also dropped his head for the dr00d gloves. Have a nice day and Good Luck.

RE: okie..
# Nov 25 2001 at 10:00 PM Rating: Decent
The flaw was where you didn't get him solo :o)

Way we kill him...

a) Pull and kill guards.
b) Get Vindi.
c) Give tank 15-30 seconds pre-tanking for aggro. (I believe clerics use a 3 second cycle for CH's... not sure, might be 4)
d) Send in the melee, warriors use aggressive and low-taunt weaps.
e) At 50% start nuking.
f) At 15% other melee use offensive discs.
g) At 10% MT turns off attack and keeps taunting (all other melee should be behind 'pushing' him so as not to get riposte'd or enraged on).
h) Dead before defensive wears off for first tank.

End of story. Of course our first kill was a lot messier... we ended up having a goddamn paladin tank him for more than 50% :P
ouch

how to..
# Nov 14 2001 at 5:18 PM Rating: Default
Okie Here is the tactic to kill Vindicator and his pets at the same time, might get kinda long, You will want everyone as close to lvl 60 as possible:
3 Warriors, 3 Monks, 3 Rogues, 3 Rangers, 3 Wizards, 3 Druids, 3 Shaman, 5 Clerics, 1 Necro, 1 Magi, 1 Paladin, 1 Enchanter, 2 Shadow knights,
2 bards

Groups - Okie now you will want to set up groups kinda like this. Put your 5 clerics grouped with a bard, this bards job is to play non stop mana song so your clerics don't go OOM. Put your 3 Warriors together with a bard, and maybee put 2 wiz's to fill up the rest of the group for mana song - going OOM for anyone in this fight should be highly unlikely. Put 2 Sk's, 2 druids, Enchanter, and Shaman in a group. Everyone else isn't really to important

Prep - Now before the fight you will want your Magi to summon up mod rods and hand a rod to every single caster on the raid, get use to using these, as they are very helpfully during longer fights like Statue or Tormax. You will want to give your clerics numbers 1 through 5, John #1, Joe #2 etc. etc. Then you will want to assign a person to call out these numbers during the fight, usually a person who isn't to busy during the fight is good for this job, like a enchanter or something.

Pre-Fight - Now for the fight, you will wanna position yourself behind the Icewall where only 1 giant spawns but is on a very slow spawn time. Make sure to kill all giants around you, you DO not want adds. Now you will want to design a warrior, your best equiped to be your main tank give him the best buffs etc. Now you will also want to give this main tank a killer Damage sheild, this is the role of the bard in the warrior group to play DS song. Stack every thing you can, with a bit of work you can get a DS up to 160+. During a fight like this a DS will outdamage every person on the raid.

Fight - You want your main tank up front ready for the pull, everyone else back up on the slant, and your 2 Sk's off to the side . Get a monk to run up a nail Vindicator with a shuriken and run back to the group. Now the Shadowknights come in play, you will want each SK to target a seperate pet of his and after the monk hits Vindi you want the SK's to use one of there high agro spells to pull his pets to them. Now you will also wanna designate your 2 druids in the group to heal these SK. Now your Shammy and Enchanter need to get these 2 pets slowed, they are easily slowed. Once slowed they are week the SK's will have NP soloing them for a bit.
As soon as Vindi gets to your warrior he needs to hit defensive, now you will wanna get your 1 druid, 2 Shammy's, 1 Pally, 3 rangers, 1 necro ALL pumping out smaaaall heals on your warrior to keep him alive, everyone needs to use small heals to not get agro, don't trust the health bar Vindi can do 2500DMG in 2 sec. After a good 15 to 20 seconds of this you will want to Start calling the Cleric numbers, after this the small heals can stop. When a clerics number comes up they are to cast a CH on the main tank, the CH numbers shouldn't be any slower then 3 to 4 seconds, if the warrior thinks it's comming to fast or to slow he is to call it out, he knows best.
You will wanna send in the rest of the crew, they are to melee at MAXIMUM melee range, if they get to close they may pick up agro and ***** everything up. Make sure to surround him you don't want to start pushing him every wich way. Wizards start nuking etc. etc. Drop him to the ground. When he hits about half health you will want all your melee to hit there offensive disciplins. When he hits lower then 10% or so he will enrange, this is auto-riposte all frontal and side(?) attacks, everyone in front is to turn off auto attack until it's over, lasts about 10 seconds or so. You really wanna watch your main tank during enrage causae even 2 or 3 ripostes from Vindi can do cripling dmg. Once he drops then of course you will wanna help your SK's drop the pets, loot, wash, rince, repeat.

Important: Keep the CH's on time. Main tank comunications. Melee range. Watch for enrage. Get those pets slowed. Stay alive, it's more important to do small dmg over time then do a bunch of dmg in 20 seconds and end up getting summoned, dieing, and maybee ******** up the raid. HIGH DS, we've had a Damage sheild do almost 20% or Tormax's total HP once.

Just killed this guy tonight. We had 50people there from 50-60 and we got dropped the first time for miss timing the heal cycle. He triple hit me for about 525hp each hit(57warrior 1200AC). Since the last patch they added roughly 50khp which brings the total to about 130khp. They lowered his resistances quite about and 60ranger in our group said every nuke landed....
Key to killing this guy is keeping the Ch rotation nice and flowing. =) hope that answers your questions

# Nov 11 2001 at 5:24 AM Rating: Default
Also I have seen several posts here saying it is hard to split the Gaurdians and Vindi himself. That infact is very easy, Get 2 druids, a necro and a shaman. Necro uses harmshield and pulls vindi with a spell(since harmshield makes him invincible) he can stand there whie the shammy slows and the 2 druida pluck the 2 guardians off and start kiting them around the arena, Then necro simple runs over and dies(they deserve it anyway) the main tank simple picks up and pow ViNdiCaTaH is dead.....

20 warriors with tantors tusks using riposite disc in sequence one after the other, with nukes from 5 GB wizards could kill this guy 8)

a L60 warrior could do 5-10k damage in duration of disc 8) Thats 100-200k damage from warriors plus wizard nukes, so there!
RE: 20war + 5wiz
# Jun 16 2002 at 1:20 AM Rating: Default
Without healing or at least buffs, the disc would outlast the warriors and they wouldn't do near the potential dmg of the disc. Even FoH's Furor with nearly 6khp can't long stand up to the double 700 with very low delay that vindi throws down. Fully buffed that would put him close to 8khp, still doesnt allow for much of a lifespan for the warriors.
RE: 20war + 5wiz
# Apr 15 2002 at 12:12 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so how can 20 warrior do 100-200K damage... 1 warrior discs, then dies. Then another warrior gets agro, discs, dies. You cant have 20 warriors discing at the same time, vindi can only attack 1 at a time, therefore only 1 person can ripo at a time...

# Jun 06 2002 at 3:34 PM Rating: Default
Ok, I'm not saying I like his idea...but read more closely. He said in sequence, one after another. Here's an interesting thought along the same lines...if you're going to forget about healing, why not have the warriors all at low health, so they can riposte some crippling blows? A crip with Tantor's is scary...

1) Auto-riposting is Enraging, not Rampaging. Rampaging is when it attacks the top four people on its hate list.

2) Derakor the Vindicator can be split from his fellow guardians by any talented monk or a team of monks.

3) Derakor has 100k HP. Enrages. Rampages. Quads for 700, and rather quickly. Cannot be slowed. A guild using the MT method can easily dispatch him with fewer than two dozen people, as long as they're the right people. Spawn time of eight to twelve hours. KoS to everyone except for the 'true children of Rallos Zek'. Unfortunately for you ogres out there, those are giants. Killing him lowers your kromzek, kromrif and Tormax faction. It raises your ClawsOfVeeshan faction.

4) His drops, in order of most to least common, are the Chestplate of Vindication, Boots of the Vindicator and the Living Thunder Earring.
