A level 40 would not go on a Dain raid. Unless he's an alt, has a friend/patron in another guild, or just happened to be in the right place at the right time when a guild was letting this rot, he would not have access to it.

Take it easy Mattzar, everybody have the right to speak, the lvl 1 as lvl 60. For your information, the lvl means nothing and i ve seen a lot of lvl20 playing their char better than peeps in their 40 or 50 so...

Actually, you looks like the good representant of your class, saw so many (too many in fact )of them having your attitude.

LOL I love it when the truly ignorant post upon something they know nothing about.

1.) Dain might not hit for as much as Velkator.. but so not think that how hard you hit for and the delay of your attacks are unrelated. Can a war with a 24/54 outdamage a war with a pair of 15/23 weaps? NO. But for an ignorant fool such as yourself.. you'd probably believe he could just because he hit harder.

2.) You know how hard it is to get a Dain solo pull? Nope... obviously not. Try fighting Dain with a Senschall Aldikar add... he's almost as strong as your lovely Velkator. I can not name one time that we DIDN'T solo pull Velkator.

You lvl 20 newbies crack me up spouting off random garbage about uber mobs you know nothing about. Unless you have fought him and Velkator please keep your awe-inspiring lack of knowledge to your damn self.

I have never personally tried this guy but i have killed mobs ten times as hard as Dain. Even if he hits for max he is only hitting for 1.6k (With Hammer) and 1.2k (without hammer). Now that might seem like alot but compared to say Velektor who triples for 850 or Vindicator who quads for 700 or Statue of Rallos Zek who doubles for 1.1k its nothing. Ive seen a lvl 60 warrior tank the Statue for 1 min without it being slowed. We also only had 8 clerics. (BTW the warrior wasnt that nicely equiped) If you can get say 24 people who have done higher lvl encounters, this is a piece of cake. 18 is pushing it but im sure with a little luck it can be done.

Levier - First of all, theres no such thing as a mob 10 times harder than Dain. There are probably 6 mobs in EQ tougher...AoW, Tormax, Yelinak, 4th warder,tunare,and Vyemm.
To get down to it...Ive fought Statue, and Velk..Velk being the biggest cakewalk Ive ever seen (whoo hoo Gflux!) He hits for 850 but its like he's using a weighted axe..and statue is slow as hell too, being he can be slowed by a shaman. Dain CANNOT be slowed and hits like an animal....he quads for 425 but is flurrying, which means he can quad for 425 like 3 times, so basically he is hitting max 425 9 times. Along with his uber 300k+ hp....easy eh?

Dain's difficulty doesn't come from his raw melee output but by other factors such as his massive AC and throwing people into the well. Melees have a hard time doing a lot of quick damage and he has a lot of HP, making it a longer fight. Plus, when the main tank gets banished you're going to have a lot of dead casters and hybrids if you're not on your toes. If you try it with 24 people you better have the cleric click sticks ready for lots of battle rezzes and people with fast connections.

let me get this straight. you're saying that Dain 350 (without the hammer) should take 18 people and 24 - 36 if he does have the hammer? hmmm...i guess that elite few like FoH, AL, or some other bigshot guild might do that...though 3 groups would still be stretching it..imho.

i've seen 40+ people get wiped out by this guy even if they single pulled him down to the pit lvl. i don't know if you consider the Kael quest and VP armor "uber", but entire raid groups with this lvl of equipment have failed to take him down several times.

this guy is tough to fight and is not a trivial encounter. normally takes about 5 - 6 groups for most guilds. he has a high regen like most mobs his lvl. he will constantly ramage throughout the fight and do what is known as a "ping pong" attack which ends up kiling the clerics and other healers pretty fast. (you see why they call it this if you're on top of the icy moat looking down to watch the fight progress.)

*its actually fun to watch* :)

There is another quest, king something, i think he's dark elf.
he wants you to ahnd him proof that you killed the little dude ( see belt of dwarf slaying quests)
give himt he proof and he gives you one belt, 100hp, 100mana, effect aura of battle and like 10 of each other stats. So i have heard, it is one of the best belts on the game!
cant wait to kill the frozen tree stump - getting there ( VERRRRRRY SLOOOOOWLY)

Is the link for the belt. Quite a nice one in fact. Makes me want to change faction from dorfs to giants. Giants quest armor has much higher AC and higher stats. Hmm something to consider anyways.

Each velious race has its drawbacks and bonuses. The giants have the dain head quests, the coldain have the shawl and ring quests, and the dragons have the fact that they are dragons and the best armo and the giant head quest. The giants are hated by every velious class and are hard to get faction with, the coldain have the worst armor, and the dragons are very hard to get faction with.

Just curious, but...

When the final ring quest is running, do the giants fight this guy?

I don't know a whole lot about the quest. All I have ever seen is that After they've sacked Thurgadin, all the citizens respawn as dead dwarves for ages.

All the same, I'd love to watch a horde of giants trying to take this guy down.

ok i was jsut thinking and i know this is a newb question but how do you know hes 70? if hes red to a L60 theres no way to tell if hes over 63 as with dragons. and if he was 70 wouldnt the spells not stick because he would be 10lvls higher than a L60 nuker or tasher? heh its 2am when im posting this so it might make more sense to me when im less tired but still id love an answer =)

There are programs that VI prohibits that can tell what level a mob is. They used to also be able to tell how many hps they had but VI changed the way their servers sent info and removed that. This is how most 63+ mobs were calculated before Planes of Power was released.

If you get to high amiable with Dain, he will give you a quest. He asks you to kill Tormax and bring him the head. I have no idea what the reward is. All I know is that you can get it at high amiable. I was low amiable and he didn't talk to me. Then after a raid of the Tormax area, and 2 sets of giant helms later, I was still amiable but he finally talked to me directly. Good luck killing Tormax.

kinda sad that you have a level 43 rogue and still dont know !@#$@$(*! about being a higher level rogue. dont you talk to other rogues and ask them about this stuff? THINK before you post PLEASE!
tell yah what bud, you come talk to the four level 60 rogues that i know and talk to all my high level guildies. ask about assassinate. you can look for anyone on the Bristlebane Server that has the guild tag <Sanguine Blade>. we are the BEST guild around - the rogue only kind!
