Get a Tank
# Jun 11 2004 at 11:53 AM Rating: Decent
I have a good way that works for casters, especially priest classes (Dru, Shm, Clr)

First off, you get KEI, VoQ or Tranq, then PoT9. Then what you are going to do is send a /t to a tank and say "Hey <Insert Tank Name Here> I am going to EW, come kill things for me and I will keep you alive!"

Then youi and tha tank go kill things. This works better if you are a Dru or Shm, cause then your pet can help with DPS.

~grins~ Or you can do what I did, a 51 shm training the Chief and 4 Elite Guards from the Fort to KD zone because I hit the wrong button and hit my pet attack hot key '0' instead of my pet back off hot key '9'. Thus my pet died and I ran to KD

Dark Blue to me at 52, but soloable with a good pet and some heals for it.

Still suggest a tank though.
Very good for kitting

I usually clean the whole camp with the same technics...

1)kill the 2 first centurions guarding the wall entrance

2)kill the 2 guards guarding the entrance

3)charm the wandering elite who is spawning in the left room of the camp (wait for him to come at the entrance) and kill the mystics
in the middle room with it (who are only dropping the orc fang necklace)

then i bring him outside of the camp to finish him

4)If oracle is up and generally it's the case i charm him and i let it die as he is surrounded
by all the elites in the right room.

then i bring all these ry'gorr outside to finish
them...

and it's rare when avengers pop to avenge the dead chief...

be aware that if you pull them and if ry'gorrs are stuck by a wall, they will fall on you like
the rain from nowhere if you stand near the camp walls or try to camp.

They hit for an average of 110 if you try to melee them and seems they only drop the ry'gorr chain leggings, armguards and coif -> no more bracers, gloves or collar...

i killed around 200 of them and never saw these 3 last items.

Do they "teleport" or something?
# May 23 2003 at 2:18 PM Rating: Decent
Do these guys teleport to you or something? More then a few times my early 30s monk has been stunned running into CC by a random orc in the fort; no big deal I normally just FD and wait to move. But like 1 in 5 CC runs if FD doesn't work and I'm forced to stand there a few secs for it to reset I find 2-5 of these guys "spawning" right on top of me (fall from air like a new spawn, right on my location, all at the exact same time).

And these guys are nasty to a 30...I've never gotten a FD off once they spawn, I die too fast (like under 5 seconds and I have about 1100 HP with my self-twink gear).

My monk is now lvl 35 and my highest lvl char, so please forgive me if I sound like a n00b wrt high level mob ablities...because, well, I am. :-)

I finally smoked this bastage after getting crushed by him at lower levels and him killing me countless times with my SK.
I slowed him, stacked EB and Plague on him, pet gnawed on him then I pulled out my Scourge hammer and whacked him to death.
Revenge is a dish best served cold and its very cold in Velious !

Soloable for sure
# Mar 25 2003 at 3:58 AM Rating: Decent
Solo some of them the other night, start allways with snare so they will not outrun you, they have tons of HP.

Started with Dooming Darkness, Chiling, Invoke fear x 3 while pet kick his $%&#.

BTW there was a cleric next to me that was soloing them as well he was lvl 45.

RE: Hey
# Apr 24 2003 at 1:29 AM Rating: Default
Normaly never hunt much with out KEI, hey never meding but to buff rocks, but thought Ry'Gorr camp wouldn't be that hard or mana consuming. This sucker found np to hit my pet for 107 when I found myslef having to step back to heal much faster then I liked without KEI. He missed and i block and dodged a good bit, just when he does get a good lick hurts some as a beastlord. Guess I had 75%m at start had 0%m at end, last drop healed my baby girl, a bulb and maybe 1/4 of hp and pooch under half. With kei sucker been whole lot easier. So unless you got C3 or one kicking Mage wouldn't try him and was db at 46 so not sure on lv. But I am no mage neither, and most I think that say they solo him do so with next to no direct melee they way your pet would and i did. But you nukes would surely drop him faster then my melee. So atleast be C3ed before you try, IMO. But, again I am no Mage.

just kidding man! i think i've got the point. great guides of low grammatical quality help little. however, pidgin english can be figured out. just try. imagine you're in the middle of your first italian lesson.

by the way, which of the velious orcs are able to see thru invis? any info is appreciated. i'm planning to do some sight-seeing jugging with my friend. i'm lv45 and he's lv 12 (!!). thank you.

I found jumping till Sta bar drained and then strafe to be most effective way to escape. Unless you going up hill or down a steep hill then jumping just stupid, unless you got safe fail then down hill not always stupid. But more less flat land jumping is faster then to strafe, IMO.

1st could a 52 cleric solo these fine and 2nd
would they still give xp at that level
RE: soloable
# May 03 2002 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
Solo them as a cleric, not sure, but if you have a like 400+ nuke and lots of hp and tanking ability, yea I would say you might be able to, but it would be a close one.

Exp yes, i think they give exp up to 55+ or something.
have a friend
# Mar 03 2002 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
ok, these orcs have about 5000 hp, i dont think a mellee type char can solo these till around 55 or so(IMO),unless you are a shadowknight and can fear. as a caster you can prolly start killin these at 45-49 solo. Hope this help you guys out a bit.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 24 2002 at 9:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well i being a lvl 40 monk soloed these with ease only losing 1 bulb max of hp. 1,700 hp 1311 ac.

me a 52 shaman, and a 55 bard were there last night. personally my first experience. the bard jsut pulled 1 at a time sometimes 2 with the chief/oracle. we owned he just charm kited till 1 was dead then we fear kited all others and with his new celerity songs it took a while but my skill went up 8 times in 1 hour in piercing very worth the wait and the exp was awesome. I recomend fighting here to everyone.

Ok, i spent 12 hours at the fort, and this is an easy way of doing this:

Camp outside the fort on the edge of the little plain.

I cannot say anything about pulling singles, i was sitting outside as a cleric all the time. But with a L40 enchanter, you can handle even 2-3 elites with a L35-40 group.

If the puller zones to CC on bad pulls, the group outside is perfectly safe.

You need at least 1 SOWer/snarer, else it beckomes very difficult. Keep SOW on all group members at al times.

When the puller gets one or 2 elites (all other orcs work the same, but much easier), a ranger or druid snares the elite. This may take a few tries, but should work fairly quickly.

On successful snare (should be called by the snarer), have the highest level caster that has a fear spell fear the MOB.

If you have a L39+ Cleric, have him do the fearing. I could get the fear spell to stick 70% on elites, 90% or more on lower MOBs. When the fear is resisted, throw in a Force till Invoke fear is recycled. This is rarely resisted.

The MOB will walk toward the castle, until it is hit in any way for one time. then it will turn around and walk away from the castle. At this point the MOB is dead meat.

Have the tanks melee it (casters can blast for quicker fights), it will go down fast. No parries, casts (for the mystics), no hits on the party, the MOB just dies.

For an elite you might have to refear once or twice, the others usually die fast.

A chanter for mezzing off multi pulls is a nice thing, else you can root-park, but that's more painful.

Note: A MOB feared with invoke fear walks significatly slower than a mob just snared. And it walks in a straight line. We experimented Wizard kiting, but it took quite a while longer to kill the MOB.

recheck your notes, elites do not die fast they have a sick amount of hp's. we had a full group, and i nuked him for over 1000hps. had 2 tanks hacking and 2 pets.they do not die fast

The poster said "For an elite you might have to refear once or twice, the others usually die fast."

The poster did not state that "elites" die fast -- please notice they stated the elites may have to be refeared once or twice...and that the "others" usually die fast. But then again, maybe that's why you posted as anynymous =)

Simple question, I'm a human pally and can usually only bind in city zones, although there are some exceptions (the Bandit Camp in Karana, etc). Would anyone know if the closest BIND point for me has to be Thur (which is a hike) ? Or is there somewhere closer that I can bind ?

Grateful for the info,

Would it be possible to hunt these with a level 43 warrior? Are groups easy to get here or would I have to bring my own and is it better or comprable cash and xp to Dreadlands?

It varies. Finding a group is usually difficult
at the ry'gorr fort (at least at the time of day i'm playing on my server). Bringing your own would definitely help.
Exp may be a little bit worse than DL, but after many levels in OT, DL pales on you pretty fast and this here is totally different.

Cash is better than DL (and easier to sell loot).

L43 is actually pretty high, we managed well fith 5-6 L35-40.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 10 2001 at 9:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, the rygorr is good armor. And it sells well. But it's about the same as the quest armor that is obtainable for most classes in their 30's. Rygorr armor is for the people that are too stupid or lazy to do their quests. I proudly wear my full ivy etched armor and wouldn't be caught dead wearing rygorr--the armor of the idiot twinks.

Find any type of 30+ armor quest for a rogue specific class... eh

I picked up a Rygorr chain mail BP for my rogue at around lvl 32 from a dark elf cleric in OT for 400pp, ac18, str10, and a few other little stats. I'm 46 and I still use it and plan on using it even longer. This stuff beats the bejeezus out of Ravenscale or any other rogue armor that is "readily" available around 30-40.

I checked out the Ivy Etched armor and for the amount of time, effort, and money put into it, the stats are not that impressive, IMO.
RE: lazy
# Oct 27 2001 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
yeah not to mention the ivy quests are ridiculous. i was way more into travelin round and gathering cash to buy some rygorrs rather than trying to raise a group to camp the same mob for two days or soloin and ridin the boat in OOT. its about the same price for ivy and rygorrs on VZ, so i figured why get ivy (cept my BP, hehe)

You must be blind if you think that Ry'gorr is for twinks... I have full lambent that I quested for and got myself and I have to look at all the level 10 bards running around in it. Don't even tell me about Ry'gorr being for twinks. You think that level 10 warrior got that crafted on his own. And I'm sure that level 5 cleric in all Gold Clerical Plate worked very hard to quest all those pieces. Humph.

Yes..they probably did work hard to quest it..just not with the character you're seeing. Did you think that some really really nice higher level just gave it to them? No, they quested/camped the items with thier main character. So don't throw the BS line that twinks didn't "earn" thier gear.

That said... I don't personally like twinking..but i don't try to say people didn't earn thier gear because they twink.

Hmm, lazy or stupid? Hate to tell ya bro for some classes ry'gorr beats the bejesus outta their class quest armor. Think shaman, round 10 ac for most of the pieces, this is much much more. Not to mention all the melee stats, hell the legs are better for rangers then ivy etched legs. Hey wait all the quest armor looks cooler then ry'gorr, wait it doesn't have a unique graphic? Ry'gorr tends to be better for many classes, so don't go bashing people who want armor thats better then hours worth of questing and killing some dangerious mobs from all over ok?

I can solo these things as a lev 45 shaman with my shiny new Jaundiced Bone bracer. You just need to be sure you cancel thier sow, because if you don't they can run you down dead in about 10 seconds. (they hit for around 108-118 damage max) They also have pretty high cold resist, so debuffing is a good idea. Good luck all you shammies

these bastards! one of em spawned right on top of our group in the blacksmith room while we were medding up and licking our wounds (we were all wolf formed, heh heh) and created total chaos. you see, in the BS room, theres little room to run around while a druid tries to heal you, so after he killed our SK, he chased ME around and then the chief came to finish the job....I can still feel his dagger in my side, too...total group annihalation, no survivors, but hey, at least we had a cool lookin pet cemetery outside after all our wolven bodies were dragged out, heh heh. And to make things worse, as we were waiting for our rezzes, ended up having a bad pull with an elite (I TOLD that guy not to pull, but noooo, heh heh). the cents were nothing, but that elite came back with a vengeance, and another total group annihalation, hell, even almost killed the cleric (who now had to do double rez duty I might add), just dont let these guys fight with any other orc, they are nasty!

Why were you camping inside the fort? The thing to do is to sit outside by the tree and just have someone pull to there. Simple, easy, and a lot safer than sitting inside that RyGorr hut.

Just so you know, I am level 50 and have been soloing nothing but these Elites and the Chief since level 45, I have died maybe 3 times in this time but only from adds.I do have ES vambraces and have made about 20k's worth of cash which i have bought better gear with ALL from the rygorr armor pieces,Chiefs battlemail and Spinechill spear in this time. There is a way to pull them singly from throne room that is a druid specialty and those that do it know what im talking about.

(wow i didnt swear once...amazing)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 17 2001 at 2:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Lol, what a joke, just because one person cant control their mob doesnt mean druids in general are asses nor that they suck and cant solo these mobs. After some of the mobs i have soloed these mobs do not pose any problem at 51. Try soloing mobs with 15k hp's and these mobs are nothing. Try soloing the Bulthar Herdleader and come back to these. LOL, it makes you feel uber when they drop like fire beetles. Not bragging or trying to get a flame, just saying dont judge a class because of one person who made a mistake. And dont think a class cant wax a mob just becuase you dont have a prayer solo.

I could not outrun them with my Druids level 40 sow without exploiting the pathing and jumping. Probably because they were sowed by the 47-50 Oracle that was pulled with them. The puller got a bad pull and the whole group said RUN. Doh! I didn't have an evac up or SOC. I had to jump while running and went into the KD ravine, where I quickly memed gate and got out. They hit over 100 and took me to less then a bubble real fast. Keep SOC and/or an evac memed!

Yep, these suckers are SoWed hehe. We have our monk pull from within the fort as we camp at the gate going into CC. He had to FD several times on bad pulls, I'd hide/sneak over there and bind wound to half health, and repeat til the mobs are within group melee/nuke range.

I have no idea how much HP these guys have but it's definately more than 3000, probably around 4000. The amount of time that it took to take one down is similar to fighting the bats/bugs in SolB (this was my first time fighting at the fort).

You can outrun them using Greater Wolf Form but BARELY!! You can't build a big lead on them to try to snare. If the first snare fails I suggest zoning into CC to clear agro and trying again. They WILL outrun SOW. They also have a large agro. I was going to try to use harmony and single pull the elites. I had camo up and positioned myself to a spot I though was a safe distance away. I cast harmony, as soon as I did camo droped and all the elites in the Elite room agro'd me. I tried to run but agroed everything else along the way to the CC zone. I did not make it as I kept getting stuned.
