killed about 30 spiders in all, got all 4 silks, and a blood, and carapace, took about 2 1/2 hours, also saw spirit touched thorax drop like 4 times, i only pulled them from around the entrance.

Went in by myself, had CV and KEI along with selfbuff. Took about an hour and got the 4 silks I needed to make the net. Most spiders can be pulled without adds didn't go very far in to do it.

i've not played heavily in Velious and, to be honest, can't keep the faction lists straight in my head.

would anyone mind confirming:

to farm here, i'd need Claws of Veeshan (CoV right?) faction at a minimum of what, indifferent?

also, i helped, i think a cleric or druid when i was in my mid-50s either with their epic or a spell drop in skyfire (?) off the OT--spent the better part of a day killing annoying drakes one after the other that dispelled a lot. guess i've got quite a bit of faction work?

Traveling through Cobalt Scar and Western Wastes will be easier if you do have non-KoS faction with CoV, but it's not mandatory since anything threatening you can be avoided with invis + SoW/Selo.

As for Skyfire, that's RoS faction, not CoV. There is only one RoS dragon in WW (has Ring in the name), also easily avoided since she only paths down in the northern scar.

DN has it's own seperate factions and only one living dragon, but he opposes CoV faction.

Wow...I went here to get silks for my epic 1.5 and on second kill what do I find; a Phase Spider Cararpace! I'm still there and I have yet to see a silk, my guess is they're pretty rare =(

I have been soloing these spiders (as well as the newer mercenaries) and it has been well over a year since I have seen anybody suffer from a phase spider's proc. (And it's been even longer since I've seen a PSC drop - I'm still hopeful.)

I have neither been forced to move, nor read any messages stating I have resisted an effect.

What say you? Have these spiders stopped proc'ing?

I can also reconfirm this by saying that in my recent escapades into DN I've been meleeing spiders with thorns to finish off that last 7% and have yet to get shadowstepped.

Thanks!

Went there last night as I thought this would be a nice easy way for me to get to 220 in tailoring.
I am a lvl 67 Necro and all spiders were LB to me and easy to aggro kite. Average 1.5 mins to kill.
First mob down and Carapice drops! I could not believe my eyes... As for the silks I got one in a total of approx 30 kills. A second carapice dropped and since I was soloing I had no choice but to give the orig to my pet as nobody from my guild could get there in time and I couldn't just let it rot.
The blood and thorax's are a frequent drop, but silks are (imo) a rare drop. Looking at the rest of the posts in this forum I think I fluked the 2 carapices, but I will go back just in case the drop rate has increased.
Good luck all and happy hunting.

I got five or six silks in about an hour of killing the spiders, but no carapace, which is what I was looking for :). So my experience now is about the opposite of yours.

Was kind of fun actually, with the random wandering adds and spider traps I ended up kiting three spiders simultaneously at times... still easy as a 65 Necro.

Phase spider solo
# Oct 18 2004 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
Ok here's the low down, The info above may be correct but it lacks a bit, so heres the fill in.

The mob is easy to kill not a lot of hap but the Dragon nec is off the Wastes so Frozen based spell may not be very effective. The have Scaterling step, Basical it ports u back to the in/out portal. You will see a message that says (your name here) has gated! they cast that a lot, I have seen it like 3 time back to back. They hit for like 150 give ot take some. With the gate thing that makes them impossable to Kite.

Which brings me to the next part the Nec is a trap filled area I have heard that there are pitfalls that cause 20K damage, I never fell in one and lord I hope I never do. I was also told that by touching the dragon remains spings a trap as well. The most common I have seen is that a swarm of mini beatles spawn and chase u down. There looks like there are 20+ at a time though I try not to pause and count.

Untill u learn the area well pull the ones near the portal and pull them to the portal they keep up with run speed 3 and the Nec is indoor so u need shew or zone out sow or some such. Not sure if they are snareable as I can't snare.

Hope this fills in some of the left out info

# Jul 30 2004 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, I went back there(56 enc 204charimas unbuffed but with my charisma buff 254, 255int) recently and was charm kiting with ease, i pulled with tash casted fast root and charmed a phase spider, would pull with tash run then root(they hardly ever hit me, had soe) send pet after it always had mob rooted incase charm broke, when it did id root phase spider old pet( and charm another one or sometimes recharm it depending on how much hp it had, once in a while id slow the mob but not needed, real easy, when pets about to die root mezz the mob ur killing get dispell, dispell charm, run, root and nuke till it dies, cuz if ur pet gets killed theres a chance it couldve had the phase spider carapace and when other npc kills it no corpse, havent got the phase spider carapace yet but plan too
46 Druid Solo
# Jul 25 2004 at 11:44 AM Rating: Decent
You should be able to solo these quite easily - I've done it successfully as a 46 Druid (with KEI, Chloroplast and SOW) and have had no problems. These critters hit me for about 120 (max) damage if I cut a corner short.

Overall, easy to kite and manage.

Was reading about phase spider sw they were lvl 47-50 thought it would be easy, lol boy was i wrong, thought they would be like drovlargs since same lvl range, i zoned in to Dragon Necropolis and summon pet, buff me and pet and then i pull one, run root, slow, then let it hit me to get pet on it, wasnt too me hit me for 130 i chain runed pet(berserker spirit) for a while the spider was eating through his hp, i walk in(un runed) and let me take some dmg instead of pet, end up taking more then i shouldve, i nuked spider 3times then i had agro, pet almost dead i take a few more hits my hp drops and root breaks pet dies im at 2pct and spider at 1pct i zone out, cast troll illusion a drake comes outta no where and kills me, to make this long story shorter, it is possible to solo with 56enc using 55enc pet(mine didnt have any mage summon gear and only chitty 56enc buffs) will try again later

I am a mediocrely (sp?) equipped 52 Bard, and was wondering how easily I could chant kite these babies. Also, I noticed that someone mentioned faction. Is perfect CoV faction necessary? To be honest, I don't think I've ever done any faction work in Velious, so if so, I'd better get on my horse... or drogmor. Thanks for any help!

In someones humble oppinon do u think a BL lv 52 Could get them safely alone?
Yes it can be fear kited
# Nov 17 2003 at 9:36 PM Rating: Decent
I used to solo there with my sk all the time, and that was when they phased you. Hopefully you have run 3 for it helps. Cast dark on them and run them back toward zone in, then cast your fear and beat them down. Every once in awhile redark them just to be safe (mana regen from one too many darks is faster than a cr).

Ive been there a few times before in a raid type of envornment, it likely wont work but it would be interesting to see if a Shadow Knight could Fear kite the things. However i do remember their being several of them in one spot so that might not be as clever an idea as one would hope. Ah well, its worth experimenting with regardless as one can always feign or run to the exit if need be (assuming no poor sap is there to get trained of course)

Okie i figured out how to get to DN, zoned in and anther druid told me the basics , we partnered up on a few, it was really easy. They hit fast cause ushally i can still get spells off with mobs pounding on me. i dont need Soe or Sow Either , i just need PoTg/Potc up, and kei, even with snare resists its easy to get off once with it on yer back and, if it hits yeh a lil, killed about 65 so far, with 9 to 10 bloods, this is easy, enough there are tons of them though =) and i see "Farming" isnt really ganna work, o well , for me its a challenge that wont go un-taken and un-won, (had the same feeling with Ely's) So avechally will get something done.(i take good friends to keep me company or i fall asleep =P

I kill them with the ol' "Root and Rot" method. At 65, they are about 50/50 light blue/dark blue. They DO NOT phase you anymore (at the risk of losing my favorite soloing spot to scads of melee type soloers now). They are pretty resistant to magic, so your root will hardly ever last the full duration. Use you root with dmg for this reason, they will die quicker with the added dmg. Stack your DoTs (Winged Death, Difting Death, Immolation of Ro and epic--if you have the latter two), and re-dot as needed. At 60, I would seriously not try for more than one at a time. And SoE is a must, zone into to WW to reapply when it drops, these run SoW speed. One resisted snare and you will have problems. Oh, yeah, always pull with snare unless you have a HUGE head start. And, they have a prety big aggro range.
RE: Hrmm...
# Sep 04 2003 at 4:57 PM Rating: Decent
Oh, and you can't kite them with lightning because it is an indoor zone. That, and even my Storm's Fury lightning spell only hits them 1 in 4 casts (that spell is single target 410 dd with stun, indoor/outdoor). Another thing veterans of DN will notice, there's alot more spiders, almost 3x as many. The majority of them are static spawns but there are still a few pathers. I haven't popped any traps in one 6 hr session of killing there, but that's not to say that they nerfed them, too.

One last thing for those wanting to go to DN and "farm" PSC's: I have killed well over 200 consecutively and have not had a PSC drop, after getting 4 in my first 30 kills. 95% drop nothing, 4% drop blood, 1% drops PSC, or thereabouts. I am considering buying one of the stupid things because I am so frustrated with trying to "farm" one. They go for 8.5-10K on DRo and are worth every penny, IMHO. "Let's just pop into DN and pick up a PSC for your Beastlord," may be the stupidest thing I've ever said.
