Solo-able by a 60 druid (without epic) in 12 minutes.
glamour, spam snare, WD, Flame lick (for agro control) - charm pet onto it. Manage agro on yourself and keep in casting range and pet will kill it for you.
If you let it agro on pet it will eventually dispell charm and snare on your pet - which is not good.
Any druid not using pets to kill outdoor mobs is working at 20% effectiveness ...
I am lvl 60 Necro, and lemme tell ya Necros rule this mob. Some people say kiting via pathing in WW is needed and I say no. I don't even use hardcore DOTs. I usually figure 8 Kite these guys in a small area and just DOT them with low time cast DOTs. Add into it my Necklace of Superiority, Bone Clasped Girdle (Longer DOTs) and Deflux, my mana never got below 90 percent with Arch Lich runnin. Hehe I kited and successfully killed 3 in a row one night. (Had mouse finger after). BTW these things have an INSANE regen capability. Got one down to 40 percent life when I had to FD cuz of a Velious Hound add. Not even 2 minutes later it was at full life. My average kill solo on these guys is 35 minutes. As a result I have my new Ice Burrower Silk sleeves for my Chanter Alt =) GL to all.
the reason this mob regens so fast like that, is that when you FD, and no one else is on the aggro list, all mobs have much higher regen. this mob's regen actually sucks in my opinion, since i killed him really easily solo as a level 60 necro. I agree with you tho, this is a trivial kill for a necro
Been bow kiting them for a while now, that takes me almost an hour as well, to avoid the Add's I generaly kill all the hounds first.
Having worked in the zone for some time I worked out that the Burrowers never path themselves around the coastline where the pirates are, so I drag them there to kill.
Well, I sat here and read everyone's post on these mobs. I'm a 60 monk that's got all SS gear cept legs, but I've always wanted a skin for my tunic collection. I wanted to have my guild go out there one night, on and exp night, so we could take some out and maybe upgrade our other monks, no one responded to my post on my guild's message board. I have access to a friend's 58 druid, so I decided to give it a shot after reading Athief's post about him kiting them. So off I went, logged my monk at the cave near SG, and got on the druid. Spells I had loaded were, winged death, snare (in case of velium hounds)root, soe (to rebuff during the kite) and succor. Got a kei, grabbed a Potc and self buffed. First burrower I saw, I winged it and ran to the canyon near ToV, pretty large area to run around and kite, problem was, I went LD at the N in an ice burrower, so I came back dead. I didn't give up though, grabbed another kei (after my rez) and potg this time. Found another ice burrower and started my kite, this time I stayed closer to DN and circled near the cave to SG. Tactics I use were simple, I would dot, run as far as I could till I just barely saw the worm, sat and med till it was getting closer to me, I'd hit 1 for winged death till it started casting and ran just as I saw it land. Mana stayed pretty tight till it was down to E in ice, this was about an hour and fifteen minutes into it, but I always had just enough mana to hit it with winged right after it wore off. So after an hour and a half of kited one ice burrower, it dropped a skin and two silks. I did get two adds while kiting it, I just snared the hounds and kept doing the circles, rooted them after the IB died and camped out to log in my monk. Well, hope this helps anyone, it can be done, so you monks, just find a friendly old druid and get him to kitin.
We have done it in groups, the next day we did capn for someone and one agro'd on our groups, but I think it was more fun and exciting kiting it alone.
A group of us headed over for Captain and afterwards we Killed 7 Borrowers for the Silks. They either Drop 2 silks non-stackable or no loot whatsoever. After the 5th one we had to wait awhile for repop and shortly after we did 2 more.
No luck on the Monk tunic. 3 of the Borrowers had silks and 4 nada. Slow is resisted quite a bit, but quite manageable with a balanced group of 60s. Druid had No problem getting Ro's debuff off and said that there fire based DD was hitting quite well. If I had to place a guess on the Mobs HP I would say 20-25k hp or on Par with a Guardian Wurm in SF.
Even with a 60 Ogre Warrior meat shield w/ 43 AA these things seem to do quite a bit of dmg. The melee output isnt too bad, but the Proc which is almost 500 dmg with debuff is. One of them did wipe us out due to procing 5-6 times within a few seconds, but we did our CR and did a few more. Obviously not a pickup group event but we had a blast and will prolly be doing this again soon. /Crossing fingers when I can find a 250 tailor to make my robe:>
Ok. After hearing he doesn't summon, decided to go forth and attempt a run. Asked my good friend Eomer < Ring of Valor > 60 Phantas for a C3... cast Mask of the Hunter and Protection of the Glades upon myself along with SoE < I'm a level 60 Hierophant > and headed out through Western Wastes tracking them. I FINALLY come across one near the waters edge by the nests. I decided to attempt a Snare... then another attempt... then another attempt < Only message I saw was RESISTED... might be able to be snared >. Ok. For those of you saying it runs SoW speed, not true... I was agro'd by a Velium Hound while fighting this sucker. I snared the Velium Hound right near the damn thing, they ran SAME SPEED < Sorry to disrupt dreams >. So to actually state this, it runs SNARE SPEED. I rooted the hound and proceeded to Kite this mo fo. I didn't time it the first time. Seemed to take FOREVER ! Finally died. Winged Death and Breath of Karana hit. Breath was RESISTED quite a bit though. Winged Death NOT resisted at all. So upon medding to full and looting my two silks < They are NON stackable > I hit track and LOW and BEHOLD another... I asked the Guild," Think I should try another ? " Wise *** Meralonne < I LOVE THIS GUY !!! > Dared me without actually saying the word... so... here I go again ...
This time I decided to time it... Winged Death after Winged Death, not paying attention to my limitations, killed it almost 55 minutes later... NOTHING on it. What a waste of time. Someone came up and saw what I was doing. He asked if the Skin dropped would it be possible for his Monk to have it... I said sure... which meant... YES ANOTHER ONE !
This round seemed ALOT longer... wasting MUCH more mana... had it down to the N in An Ice Burrower. He had his Monk and his Wizard there. I noticed the Burrower running at the Wizard due to his AWESOME Nuke < Level 60 Wizard > so I ran back to help... he dead, me dead... 2 out of 3 isn't bad at all. He got the kill with his Monk seeing as the beotch was ALMOST dead.
NOTHING again ! I say if a MOB cons someone LEVEL FRIGGEN 60 as YELLOW and you are able to kill it, drop SOMETHING !!! I don't care what... The Silks, whatever !!!! SPELLS !!!! But hey, like I said, I'm pretty impressed I survived 2 out of 3...
To give you a FILL IN on what damage this ****** did to me... 6 hits... mid 100's < Not all of them, but most > and it AoE NUKED me for 410 first time, 100 second time and last 400. They're pretty much cake if kited right, but adds are ALWAYS going to happen... I had C3, why not burn it. I charmed the hound, lasted NOT long at all. The Wurm turned on it fast and dispelled it even faster.
FUNNY thing is, the WOLF was down low, the Wurm sat there and FINISHED it... Chased it down HARD CORE. Then came back after me. If done properly... you will succeed. EXP went ok I guess... NOTHING great for such a LONG HARD kill.
Hope this might help ya... tomorrow I'm taking a couple Magi, Necro and myself up for some Burrower Gang Bangin...
Athief Legacy Bristlebane Server Level 60 Hierophant
These mobs are quite tough YES! But...not that hard to kill em either...a 59 bard and 59 druid can partner up and keel these...that's pretty amazing I know...but just shows that it wouldn't be hard to kill em with a group...know what I mean? =) Mattzar Scaleflakes, 54 monk of Fennin Ro "T`Kagi Ro"
#Anonymous,
Posted:Feb 20 2002 at 7:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WW is a sucky place to hunt! You lose CoV faction by killing these ;-/ I know some of you don't care but us high level monks that want to quest some ToV armor it does matter! I wouldn't go here and start killing...my cousin could probaly kill mob and if one dropped lemme loot =). BTW, my cousin (59 uber bard) and his GF (59 uber drood) can solo these bad bishes! beleive it or not! Mattzar Scaleflakes, 54 monk of Fennin Ro
I just had to post this. Today is my first venture into WW, and not ten minuts into the zone we get jumped and wiped by one of these critters. After about a half an hour of recovery and waiting for other group to show up, we move out over by the coastline to pull some juicy mobs.
Lo and behold, before we can do anything, another stinking burrower jumps us. We start to give it the old college try, but our main tank and second tank both buy it. A last tank starts to agro it so we can all camp. I camp out (I'm a weenie rogue and wanted to help if we needed a CR). When I come back, what do I see? Our wizard is running around in huge circles actually _kiting_ the mob and refreshing his SoW with his JBoots as it gets dispelled. He is nuking it with his Temperate Flux as he keeps running and running. We can't just let this brave wiz go down without helping so I jump in and help. The ranger and paladin who had considered zoning also jump in. To make a long story short, after chasing the thing around in circles for at least five minutes, the three of us manage to actually kill the thing! I swear, the thing had no visible red in hits health bar for at least 30 seconds! I still can't stop laughing!
Would you believe that Verant would make a mob this tough and it dropped absolutely nothing!!! At least we all have a story to tell our EQ buddies for months to come :)
Regarding Hilarious... The Staff of Temperant Flux does not do any damage. All it does is cast a fire and cold debuff which reduces the targets resist's by 5 points. So as to whether I would believe your story... No. At least not the way you tell it. Telor Strifesage 49th Wizard of Tunare Ayonae Ro
There is a VERY good reason why the wiz was using ..Staff of Temperant Flux.. Any wizard who has done any amount of kiting has one finger blunt from mashing the StaffoTF hot-key. We use it to judge range on our target. For example: when you get "Target is out of range" you know you have enough time to cast your nuke before melee starts =)
Clearing up some mistakes from the above comments. No, ice burrowers do NOT have sow speed. I pulled on the other day with J-boots and I was leaving him. Second, we killed about 7 of these guys the other night and haven't seen the anything drop off of them yet, let alone a skin.
We just finished one off with 4 people: 60 warrior, 60 cleric, 60 druid and me (60 chanter). Was a though fight... Our tank died once when this stupid beast was down to 5%. The druid started to kite while he was rezzed and finished the job.
MR is high (resisted 80% of slows) and all chanter weak and dot attempts. Snare was successful once. Fire based spells do good damage tough... Cleric was busy with CH, so the drood and the warrior did the damage.
Does anyone know if this has bad faction with Claws of Veeshan when you kill it? I am thinkin it would since it's in the zone with all the other dragons but hoping not since I have good faction with CoV. Thanks
This also drops silk for tailoring, the armor made is pretty good, with trivials starting at 230 all the peices i saw buffed acouple stats and had atleast +5 chr, awsome for enchanters. Check out www.eqtraders.com for info on making it
We just killed one and had to leave but it dropped the tunic, I let the other monk have it since we were both wearing fungi anyways.
Hits hard and has a jillion hit points, dispels one buff per hit. No one died but our clerics were going OOM at the end, another 20 seconds and we would have started.
