Level range

The highest these guys get (at least in IC) is 34. They have at least twice as much HP as normal mobs of the same level though, took four rounds of dots (340 and 240) to kill.

I've killed about 13 giant scouts and a few elites and I've never seen a head or toe drop off of any of them, are these just very rare drops or do they only come from specific giants?

Anyone know if A lvl 34 shaman could maybe find a group hunting the mob with the frost giant femur? me want so bad

The femur drops from Warden Bruke in EW. He's listed as level 43, but conned even to me at 45 everytime I've seen him. When aggroed 4 guards spawn to assist him. Have the warden targeted, someone aggro's him. Snare the warden and have the one who aggroed him lead the other giants to the zone. The rest of the group beats down the warden. The hammer looks like an axe when equipped and at 45 I was max hitting for 87 with a STR of 166(186 when the proc goes off). Quite a nice damage dealer for the solo shaman.

Faction?

Killed a couple of these thinking they would be easiest to raise CoV faction and there was no faction gain from them? Notes say you gain CoV faction off these guys, any thoughts? In EW you get the faction for sure.

Ok I got a rude awakening last night as I was killing Die Wolves in Iceclad. I'm a 42 DE SK grouped with a 40 Monk and a 37 Wood Elf Druid. While the Druid was medding a Giant Scout walked by and began hitting her. This has never happened before, they have always been ready to attack but have never agro'd. We haven't yet chosen sides, haven't killed Giants (except now that 1). Did I miss something or have I just been lucky to date to not be attacked?

Oh and if anyone wounders, they fear-kite EASY.

I dont think it was becaus it was a giant: ive noticed that any wandering mob that cons 'threateningly' or worse will attack anyone medding if they happen to be close: I'm a 42 shaman and was getting jumped (hehe) by scaled wolf pups in FoB while helping a guild mate. The same thing has happened to my druid...attacked by orc pawns while medding. Not sure when they changed this, but can make being a caster a pain sometimes, especially in a zone with lots of wandering monsters (like EW). Go Figure.

They start out on threatening for all I believe. Also, drakkal dire wolves in Great Divide hurt your giant faction and improve your Coldain and dragon faction.

I killed one to many Dire woves. Is there a way to get faction back without losing any to coldains? Like maybe helping out wolves?

Not too bad.. I wouldn't try soloing..

... unless yer in the mid 40s. Myself (35 cleric) and a 36 ranger were able to do these guys last night, but even then I was down to my last superior heal before he turned away. If you see one that is armed, expect it to be ALOT harder. The loot was CRAP, at least on the 10 or so we killed.. couple of gold. One of them had a Velium dagger on him. He was the one that got us real close to dying... at that point we decided to return to the safety of Malix and his feline friends.

I can't solo them as a level 40 troll sk, even with using the engulfing darkness/fear combo
Way too hard for their level

I tried a White Frost Giant Elite at Dragon Bridge in Iceclade. He was an even con to my 33 druid. I started off with snare and started nuking, after first 3 nukes only did about 150 dmg total, i knew i was in trouble. Well after that each nuke landed for 182 each. I was lom so i dmg shielded myself, dotted it with crud and immolate, changed gear and went to melee. I didnt last long, was down to 2 bubs of life in about 10 seconds, stepped back healed, then went in again. Dropped to 2 bubs of life and got ready to zone cus i was OOM and it was at HALF LIFE. Luckily a high level mage or wiz, couldnt tell T'ed me and asked if i wanted a hand, i said sure, well She took out half its life in 2 casts. I still got exp thankfully. :P Some facts that are not all that relevant but may help you decide how to hunt these guys. I was a 33 Halfling Druid, 790hp's, 690AC, 183WIS. He ripped my *** out.... So think about it. After i healed and medded to fm. I tried a blue Frost Giant Scout and same thing, Burned all my mana and only got it passed half life. I have not tried Root Dot Med, so maybe i can solo em that way, but they remind me of HG's. So i will have to try that and if that doesnt work, leave em alone till i get new spells at 34.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 15 2001 at 4:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) DO you get alot of exp? I maybe lvl 10 but i want to know cause people say they don't have good exp is that true?

These guys can be done solo but it takes a lot of time and pratice. I took one out which conned yellow to be at 33. I snared, crud, immolate then ran a good distance away, sat and med. You can hear when he's really close to you. Just get up before he hits you. Run and med again. When dot's wear off, re-apply. Don't forget to refresh snare every 10 min. I eventually took him out this way. Take a while and really not worth it since the loot is small and exp isn't all that great for the time and effort you put in into kill it
RE: Way too hard for their level

The experience is better with the scouts then with the elites, for some reason. We were hunting the two Elites that spawn on the Icleclad side of the bridge and the 4 of us barely got our blue lines to move...

Druids lol

at lvl 37 me a tank can kill any of the frost giants in iceclad ... look all ya gotta do is grab a tank druid some animals won't let you hide behind snare and dots in the 5-6 mins it takes you to solo a frost giant with magic or the 3 mins it takes me to kill one maybe if he's a tougher one we could grp and kill one in uder 2mins...think about find a decent tank (barbarain)preferable and kill hundreds of these as quick as they spawn ..faster kills =more exp and more loot
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 08 2001 at 11:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) or just be a necro, i watched a druid take 20 minutes to kill four things today. in that same amount of time, i killed 35 things. the sad part was the druid was 2 levels above me. i killed one thing in 12 seconds flat, blue to me.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 10 2001 at 2:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Tanks who think they can solo lol

Today, two guildmates and I decided to port to Velious to see the place. It was me, a 38 monk, and a 40 druid. The druid went LD while zoning into GD (lotsa fun, he was the only one who knew where to go and I at least, was bound in the Arena. :)); and the monk decides to pull something because he's bored... well, he pulled one of these; white to me at 36. Max hit I saw was 94.

These are much higher than 25 to 30. At least the ones in GD are. I get good exp from them at level 45. The ones iceclad are lower however.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 05 2001 at 8:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) every single one cons green to my 52 warrior, so they are not even close to alot higher then 30, MAYBE lvl 38
Easy Kill

These are easy for a 37 Druid. I have about 2 bubbles of mana left when done.

Conned green, the only one I saw. Scowled at me. Are they on the same faction as the rest of the Velious giants?
