LORE/NO DROP?
# Mar 13 2001 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
is the collar lore or no drop, just curious.

The tiny collar is both lore and no-drop, so either you have three choices:
1. complete the quest yourself and then just give/sell the (Lore) helm to the Iksar warrior of your choice.
2. Bring an Iksar warrior along to loot that collar. (this is what I always do, makes the warrior at least be able to survive up in a tower filled with skeletons in order to 'win' the helm.)
3. Multi-quest the helm with an iksar warrior where you both go to turn in the components and you turn in the collar first then then the warrior turns in the gems he paid for and gets the helm.

I am 36 warrior and I have camped the little mole for myself and several other Iksar warrior friends and guildmates lots of times and on lots of occasions, so I know what I am talking about as you will see as you read below. My best advice is to study this and take a printed copy with you to the battle to go over the tactics and decide for yourself what you want to do.

He spawns in the dining room on the top floor of Kurns. Get a map of kurns from eqatlas.com so you know your way around. If you look at the picture of the mole you can see some rocks behind him and a small piece of broken slab at his feet. When you walk into the dining room from the hallway on the top floor, and pass between the two skele's on each side of the doorway inside the dining room; those rocks are the ones STRAIGHT ahead.

His spawn time is EXACTLY 1 hour. When ever I camp him and we dont get him on the first pop or he does not drop the collar, I do a /time to see the exact time according to verant. Then I just make a note so we can be ready 5 min ahead of that time exactly 1 hour later. You need a 5 min cushion because you are always off a little due to the duration of the fight. We sometimes go to town, mess around with the skele's on all the floors, hunt in the basement, whatever. Just remember that you need to be back in position and have the dining room cleared of skeles, and be full str/mana/health whatever, all prior to the pop. I tell the younger warriors I am with that we need at least 5 min for all that. And if you leave the floor, plan on extra time to clear the room and rest to full health time prior to that 5 min too. (I say that you need to have the room clear because who needs a lesser icebone and two greater scale bones scratching your back in the middle of trying to pay your respects to the mole.)

His despawn time varies from 0.75 seconds to about 10 seconds. I mean this literally. Some times you just see a flash of him and he is gone in less than one second. This is why you must be in position. What we do is have one person standing out in the dining room with a bow ready and 1 person standing right next to the spawn rock, but off to the side a bit to allow the bow shooter a clear shot, rdy to swing. We keep our fingers on the attack keys because you dont know if you are getting the .75 second pop or not. Casters are too slow for this. By the time they target him and get a spell casted, he might already be gone. Especially if the caster chooses a long cast time spell. Necros and so on, can have their pet attack fast enough if they have a /social button set up to /pet attack as soon they target the mole.

The odd mole with pop and then run either straight out down the hall or to your right and under and around the broken tables in the room. The longer you take to target him, the more likely he is to despawn. If you can get him to fight, he will stay until the end. When he is low on hp's, he runs off and tries to go down the hall and down the spiral stairs to the right. If you are very low on HP's dont chase him. Just be patient, bind wounds, rest, and have faith that he won't just despawn and take your new tiny collar with him. He will stop and rest on the stairs before coming back to die on the end of your blade in the dining room. hehe. If you are doing ok, and you do chase him, plan on having two or three of the skeletons on each person in your group, since your being in a fight in the hall has a larger aggro radius and any nearby skeles will come to see what is all that noise. Plus the odd mole will run through the undead crusader spawn point, and all those other bonz plus this guys mace will cause you a little pain, and that is no good if you are already hurting.

His drop rate for the tiny collar is about 30 to 50% I think. The most I have gone is three empty corpses before getting a collar. This is regardless of his class. (see below.)

Now this is something not everybody knows. He is NOT always the same class and he is NOT IMMUNE to plain weapons. He does usually have that skin spell though. (This is where you do no damage to him until you do enough dmg points against the spell to cancel it out). Some people see the message " the odd mole is invulnerable to you" and get scared and think it is because they dont have a magic weapon. Listen, if he was truly immune to magic weapons, all those bazillion times I kick him during the fight, would always give the same message since I dont have magic boots. But guess what, as soon as you wear that skin spell down, your kicks start doing damage. This has always been the case regardless of what class he is.

At least two times I have fought him, he was casting poison, fear, disease cloud of some kind, and so on. PLUS, he harm touched me once. His lvl does vary between 22 and 26 I would say, but I cannot confirm this for sure. Most often he is just a plain old warrior type that does hit for 50-60 dmg per hit. If he is the SK his harm touch will take you down fast, but he spends most of his time trying to DOT you and not swinging. If he is a caster type, maybe a necro, he never swings at you. You just keep seeing lots of flames and sparks and stuff coming from your skin hehe.

His hit points are indeed relatively low for the amout of damage he does to you. If you keep slugging it out with him he will go down pretty fast. I think he has a bad armor class too. He takes damage from my swords faster than say, the iksar exiles or the Forest giants in WW. If he is a caster he really dies fast from low hit points and low AC, but you have to be able to live through all those DD spells and stacked DOT's. Also, if he is a caster, you will have to ignore my earlier advice of resting when he runs. You will need to keep hitting him until he is dead, otherwise he will stop down the hall and cast spells on you sitting in the dining room until you are dead. You make the choice.

As for when can you solo this guy. Some people have said they could at lvl 25 to 27, but I tried at lvl 29, and he popped as a 26 warrior or so and he wasted me. At 36 now I dont need to worry about any lvl or class that he takes. But then again I dont solo him anymore, I always have a younger warrior with me because I require them to be in the fight in order to 'earn' their helm. I dont just make the helm for my guildsmembers, I take them to the battle to wet their swords hehe.

Good luck hunting,

Seventh Hammer Iksar Warrior, Bosek, officer of Acursed Souls guild

If you would like the Straight Details for the other pieces of TS armor, sign on to Seventh Hammer and give me a /tell. If you would like an escort to get your own Helm on Seventh Hammer, I would be happy to hunt the mole with you.

I used to camp my Iksar Necrmancer in the dining room, cause it was a descent place to solo, id stand over by the alter/alcove just to the left of the entrance. I stayed here from about 13-18, and i would see this odd mole about once every two hours or so, i imagine i missed a pop or two medding, but i saw him every day i was here. He is just this fast little mole who runs around the room for a little bit and then just dissapears. I never attacked him, cause when I asked about the mole on ooc, they just said dont bother unless you need too, and said he hit kinda hard, only worth the loot no the exp. So anyways to my knowlege Bosek's info is 100%

Spawn Time
# Mar 19 2001 at 7:09 PM Rating: Default
Ok, I will conceed that when the zone is re-popped or the server is backed up or something like that, the time will not be exactly 1 hour. In fact every time I have gone to camp the mole, he has been on a different cycle, so that confirms that something happened to break the cycle. But as soon as we see him once and get the time, he is back there exactly 1 hour later. Never failed us yet. I say us, because I usually have a younger warrior with me getting his first Trooper Scale piece.

he's on a 1 hour spawn time and he will, unspawn after about 20 - 30 seconds, if he isn't attacked.

Pops in the fourth floor dinig room and runs like hell. Think he goes down to the bottom. You gotta be quick to get him. Questers would be recommended to take a ranged weapon to aggro him. I've seen him several times but have not had a chance to attack - which from what I read above is a good thing. I'm only 19.

45 posts
He popped twice in the 4th floor dining room last night. Second time our SK's pet aggroed him. The litte ******* wiped out a four-member party of 15th level characters in next to no time. Hits for upwards of 65 points a pop.

As an Iksar warrior, I wanted his collar, and decided to camp him. Being lvl 28, I thought it would be pretty safe to take him out by myself. I was wrong. In half a minute I was down to 2 bubbles, 600 hp gone, and I hadnĀ“t even hit him for more than 100. Bring in some friends on this one, at least 2 people 25+.

conned blue to my lvl 22 warrior, so I gave him a whack, he whacked right back every time for 50 to 65, ripped trough my 600hp like butter, so be aware. seems he doesn't have to much hp, a high level druid took him out in 1 shot
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 13 2001 at 4:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) But then agian a high lvl druid could take you out in one shot.
