Just started camping this guy for my wife's cleric. So far the hardest part is getting the camp. Seems that there are tons of clerics that are trying to get this camp these days. We just got it, so I will post again when we get him to pop and drop.
Got Lucky!

I camped outside the entrance and checked the next day and he was already popped!

I brought my druid friend and I casted wake of tranquility on the mobs on the bottom of the tower so we could take them out one at a time. After that, I casted the same spell on the tower and then my druid friend pulled Bergurgle. It worked great, no CHs and a dead bergurgle about 10 seconds later.

I suppose we could have just pulled from the tower and disregarded the first step, but just wanted to be safe. If you need to solo, then cast wake of tranquility on the bottom first, then the top to pull bergurgle. I have not tried this, but it seems logical.

Bergurgle was initially a difficult camp for me, as I was going solo and wasnt very used to underwater zones. What I did was sit at the top of the tower, and keep the two non-placeholder mobs Pacified (the non-placeholders are on eht left and right of Deep). Then, whenever the PH spawned, I used a stun spell, and swam to the North wall of the cave (You can use either the north or south wall, doesnt really matter). I would then break out my big nuke, and do the root/nuke routine until it was dead. Then, I would go back to the tower and wait for another.

I got super-lucky camping Bergurgle, as it only took 2 PH's to spawn. The PH's are on an exact 30 minute timer, so go watch some TV or something during the downtime.

This is the only "logical" thing to do if you want either bergl or the tainted. go sit ont he roof of the tower. At lvl 52 I solo pull any of the three spawns . pull it away some steps so its out of healing range, then finish it.

Easy camp, really easy. just long. really long.

Same day, different experience.

I went down there to help a druid get his epic piece and got my crown within ten minutes. Apparently, this was the 3rd Bergugle my group had encountered that evening; all three with crowns.

We got the druid's lakewater too in about 3 hours time. Guess we were just really really lucky. Or the spawn time on Firiona Vie is wonky.

Same day, same different experience.

Two guildy's went down to hunt for the lake water. Bergurgle was up when they got there I think. If he wasn't he spawned right after they killed the PH! A call went out to clerics who were on and I luckly was the only one. So at lvl 40 I now have the crown. Seems I may have to start working on that epic after all.

Camped him with a 55 wiz and 56 cleric. Got 26 placeholders before he popped. Rather than stay underwater and constantly kill all 3 goblins, I just kept Deep targeted and checked with Bind Sight to see who was up. For the placeholders, just swam down and nuked them with Ice Comet, then followed up with another nuke to kill them. Then I gated back to where I'd bound on the aviak island. When Bergurgle popped, I loaded up on buffs. Manaskin, Hero, etc... pulled Bergurgle with ice comet again and gated. About 30 seconds later he came running up on the island. Cleric summoned their hammer pet, kept nuking with Draught of Jiva and Tishans Clash (both have a stun component). He never even did enough damage to get through the Manaskin.

Had to wait till daytime in the game for Shmendrik to pop though. I don't think he spawns at night, for most of the time camping bergurgle, there was no one else in the zone, so I doubt Shmendrik was killed.

I've heard that Lord Begurgle is level 40, and not 30 as stated in the description. I plan on having a melee character (tank with EB ring or ranger) with me when I attempt this and the subsequent battle against the Spirit of Flame. Having the melee character there will allow me to concentrate on stuns and heals.

Have sat up killing his PH for over 10 hours over two nights and nothing. Friend got him a week ago after a 30 minute wait. Who knows?

# Apr 23 2003 at 2:18 AM Rating: Decent
I walked in with a 60 Wizard and a 61 Cleric, killed 1 PH and he spawned...

I took him down with 2 spells, 1 crit for 1960 and another normal hit for 1440...

Cake walk.

Then Comes the turn in. I killed the turn in guy in 2 hits, then I killed the elemental in 3 hits.

All in All Id say its the camp time that is the hard part, not the fight.

16 hours total, and he finally spawned...he was way green to me (64 Nec), and I used 61 pet to tank him, pet never got hurt, took 1 Life Tap DoT (Saryn's Kiss), and 2 Life Taps (Touch of Mujaki), and he was done for. I guess though, be ready for a LONG camp...

I just killed this fool tonight and got my crown no problem. Lord Bergurgle was up when i got there so i guess im lucky :). Im a 51 cleric and i had a 52 Paladin and a 50 Druid for backup. I bound myself up on the island with the tower and swam down invised. I got a target on Lord and swam to edge of room and nuked him with Retribution and then gated up top. I took a couple of nukes while he was swimin up top but nothin i couldnt heal myself. When he finnaly arrived up top we made short work of him and i got my crown shortly afterwards. WOOT! on my epic path now . no turning back hehe

I camped this mob lsat night with success and wanted to post some information that may be useful. I camped and killed this mob as a Lvl 51 cleric with the grateful assistance of a Lvl 49 Enchanter.
First, camp is found underwater. while you can go with another that can cast EB, it is highly reccomended that you acquire an EB item. It will make your life much easier. The loc to the Underwater tunnel is Pos 2802, Neg 897.
There are two Aqua Goblin guards in the tunnel which con green to me at lvl 51 and conned green to the lvl 49 Enchanter. Inside the cave that the tunnel leads to, thereis a tower at whose base are 4 mobs, one at each corner. These mobs are either Aqua Goblins (green) or Deepwater Goblins (Light blue to me with the occasional Dark blue to 41 chanter). The tower has two levels. On the bottom level I have only seen Aqua Goblins spawn. On the top level, can be found A Dark Elf female named Deep and three Goblin Spawns. Deep was red to me but conned indifferent. She will not attack yoou unless you attack her. The Three Goblin spawn points spwan either Deepwater Goblins (Light blue to me), Tainted (Deepwater?)Goblin (Also light Blue to me), or Lorg Begurgle.
One thing to note is that none of the mobs in this area, including tunnel, wander. So a good idea is to find a place to camp away from mobs and park it there. You will not have to worry about natural adds while you go afk for a drink. All mobs spawn in particular points at eh base and inside the tower and stay there, moving only if pulled or aggroed.
The Placeholder (PH) for Lord Begurgle is the mob that spawns right next to Deep. ( I have never not seen Deep here, however if she is not, the mobs spawn more or less on one side of the top tower platform and in this case will be th mob in the middle).
I timed the PH spawn at 30 min to the second after the last PH dies. It took Seven and a hlaf hours for Lord Begurgle to spawn for us. The spawn timer on the mobs to the side of Lord Begurgle was Six minutes.
As the mobs were light blue, we could not level pull, so the chanter and I cast Pacify on the side mobs and pulled only the PH when it spawned. I pulled him using Retribution (580ish dd).I had Sound of Force, Force, and Retribution loaded as my offensive spells, while the chanter had her Highest nuke loaded (585DD) as well as root, slow mezz, etc.. One helpful technique for those who must take aggro into consideration due to level and who try this method of Pacifying side mobs is that at the very top of the tower, just a character length and a half from the ceiling is the top rim. here, where the ceiling is open, you can stand on the walls and look into the room that spawns Lord Begurgle from above. Standing on the wall rim closest to the door and furthest from the three spawn points in this room will not cause aggro. You can sit here and med and look into the room to wait for next PH spawn. You can also cast your pacify and pull the PH/Lord Begurgle from this point. Very useful if you risk all aggroing on you due to Level.
Most of the Deepwater Goblins cast nukes of various sorts. With GMR and no resist gear up, I was able to resist most of these. Those not resisted varied. Most doing between 50 and 80 dd while others did 150-180 (uncommon) and one time I got hit with a 356 nuke. These can be difficult as the heal and nuke and shoot you with arrows while rooted. We killed them with double nukes, stuns and then dounble nukes again. This same method killed Lord begurgle, although he has more HP's and hence I needed that second stun I had memmed.
All in all, Lord Begurgle was not that hard, comparing very closely with Deepwater Goblins in difficulty. He dropped the Lord Begurgle's Crown as I believe he does every time.
I hope this helps someone.

Astalia nailed it on the head. The only thing i would add was that as i did this camp, i had no trouble from adds, even though most were LB. Faction seems to play a part in aggro range here a great deal, and if you, like most who started their characters post Luclin, hav never killed many Aqua Goblins, adds here will be minimal. I never Paci'd or Harmonied, and I had no problems with adds.
The 3 in the "bell tower" with 4 triangular windows, one on each wall, is the correct group. The only one that spawns direcly in front of the window is the PH for Lord. 30 minutes is absolutely corect, and if you're gonna do this camp, make sure you let all your druid buddies know as we got about 15 Clean lakewaters while we were there. It took me from 2am Sunday morning, to the time of this post (roughly 10:40 pm sunday night) to get the drop, don't doubt yourself, lol. If you follow these directions, you're right.
One more thing, make sure to keep the PH for the Lord snared / rooted while you're fighting. He will run on low HP, and if he makes it to the wall, he passes through it and you'll need a very talented tracker to find him. (took us 90 minutes to track down the PH once when he got away, he doesn't return to his spawn point, you HAVE to go fins him) There is, however, a way to take advantage of this: If you fight the 6 minute spawns, and let them run away when they get to their low HP run point, they'll stay out of yur hair for over an hour.
Hope this helps, some of you will get it in 20 minutes, some of you will put in over 20 hours. This is the correct place, heh. Good Luck!

One more thing, EB items are your friend for this quest. Yes, it can be done with EB spells and / or Waterstones, but in the event things don't go as quickly as planned, having to run back to "civilization" for more Waterstones or fish scales is time consuming, and possibly dangerous. I had a druid friend without an EB item, and he bound himself at the camp and ported to pok for more EB components and gated back. Well, we were in the middle of killing the PH and he didn't notice his EB flashing, instant death loop, and since he was the only EB caster atm, we had to time it so that i could hand him my ear ring, he could equip, cast EB on me while he healed up (after he looted compononents from one of his 5 corpses since he was bound there, you see where this is going). On MT atm you can get an EB ring or ear-ring for roughly 1500 - 2k. it's well worth the investment for this camp, and for future zones as well (Veksar, PoWater, etc).

# Jun 09 2002 at 12:12 AM Rating: Decent
At lvl 51 I camped and killed this guy solo and it only took around half my mana. Well I turned in the crown and got the spirit of flame pop, well the walkthrough that I read says the NPC doesn't help well not true I got ksed by and NPC. So now at 54 with 26+ hours of camping him just this lvl im hoping he will pop soon so I can do the epic thing, since i got Gimblox to spawn in 4 hours. One important thing that ya guys might like to hear is the ph for Bergurgle is the middle goblin, but if it is strictly a melee (war) type gob then he has no chance of popping. His ph is a clerical gob that casts wrath trust me you will know once you engage em. Just had to let you guys know about my findings.
RE: Easy kill
# Jul 19 2002 at 12:22 PM Rating: Decent
Just camped him for a little over 10 hours straight. While the PH is the middle goblin (right in front of Deep) he does not necessarily have to be a cleric prior to spawning the Lord. I fought two warrior placeholders and then the Lord popped. <shrug> So you have the same chance of him popping whether it's a cleric or warrior PH beforehand.

Kill Shamedrik first.
# Jun 12 2002 at 6:14 AM Rating: Excellent
To avoid the KSing by Natasha Whitewater, is to get the damaged crown before you camp Bergurgle. Bergurgle's crown in only needed to get Natasha to spawn. So kill Shmedrik Lavawalker first, triggering the spirit of flame. Kill spirit of flame. Loot the damage crown, along with other stuff from both Shmedrick and the spirit. Then camp Bergurgle. Get his crown to spawn Natasha, and if she KSes the spirit of flame, so what!!! You have the damaged crown already. Give it to her to get Shell 1. If your able to loot the fire spirt after getting the shell, then bonus. You could loot it again or let a fellow cleric get the damage crown.
