Finally popped after sitting, camping, sitting camping for 30 hours. On Thursday he didnt pop once all day. He finally popped at around 7:30am on Friday. Everything written in previous posts is good advice. Once piece to add. This MOB was easy to solo by pacifying goblins on the left and right. Hitting LB with one big nuke, and then swimming back towards entrance in the direction of Rathe Mountains Zone. They key is after a few seconds of swimming stop and cast Divine Barrier. LB will follow you to the shore and you will fight him at the zone line with full health. Nuke Stun, and he was down in about 20 secs. Tront 55 Cleric Stromm Server

Ok... herre is my story... I just took him down about 2 minutes ago (12:00 am on August 13 maybe?) so anyway... after the recent Emergency patch... I figured I would check to see if the good ole lord was up... I have a lvl 2 sk parked on top of the tower ( wearing just a fishbone earring) and that's when I saw him... So I logged him out and logged in my cleric... I was oom but I had c3 so I figured the run from PoK to LR would be enough for a 55 cleric regen some mana... anyway... I ran out to LR and we were alone...I nuked him and tried to drag him to shore but I noticed I had no Endureing Breathe items so I died on the way out of the tunnel... After I got Everlasting breathe cast on me by a shammy... I ran back out and found him in the tower... I nuked him once and dragged him to shore... I was able to do about 26% damage per nuke but his arrows kept stunning me so I zopned when I noticed I was at 30%. When I zoned back in... I couldn't find him... he wasn't in the tower and I couldn't find any druids/bards/rangers with the time to track for me so I gave up... My roomate took his lvl 9 Ranger and ran to LR just out of boredom... he found the lord sitting on the lake floor... north of the tunnel entrance... I logged on and he showed me the loc... (2904.91, -618.94, -233.62) and I brought him to land... I had my delightful orb and my silver chitin hand wraps, and took him down easily... I almost gave up completely... but I thought I would let you know that it is possible... camp the tower... if you don't get the middle ph/Lord to spawn... check to make sure he is not in the water somewhere... Lord Bergurgle never despawned... he just moved and no one killed him for 24 hours... something to think about

We found the goblin trio positioned directly over the tower, except they were on the surface of the lake. That is, they were in their correct position on the map (and in their familiar triangle position), just about 100 feet straight up. They obviously had a problem pathing back after being trained away.
Got it =+)

I just got the crown yesterday. Spent 6.5 hours one night, then he was the second spawn on the second day. I solo'd the camp as a 49 cleric by pacifying the two outside ones, and pulling the PH to the far south section of the cavern. I found out the hard way that if you root the PH before he gets close to you he will still be healed from the tower. It's best to let him get to you at the wall, and whack you before you root him. Was lucky enough to have a couple guildies camp alts at the tower, so when Bergurgle popped, I just sent a couple tells, and had a 55 beastlord, and a 52 Wizzy there to help with him. Was a piece of cake, but we fought him on top of the tower, so it took awhile because of healing.

Good luck, and bring tons of patience.

Basically, as far as Lord Berg goes, it took me 2 days to finally get him, for a total of about 16 hours spent camping him. The first time I went after him, I went in nukes firing, yaulping and proc hammer swinging, killing everything in site. Needless to say a REALLY bad idea, thing about underwater is that if you get hit, basically your cast isnt going to happen, maybe a 5% chance. Not only does your channeling have to check against the hit, but also against the movement from the hit...b/c anything hitting you underwater basically means you move.....and did I mention the healing mobs. Furthermore, if you are soloing this as I did (cleric lvl 65), you absolutely can not fight anything at the tower, 80% of the mobs there heal, so taking down one mob at tower will likely cost you most of your mana in some cases. Also do not bother with EB pots, some of the mobs dispell, and that seems to be the first thing to go. I know what it is to be poor, My 4th month on EQ, and I couldnt afford a rebreather, but it is absolutely necessary..or any other EB item that doesnt work on a charge limit basis. Alright, so for solo clerics, the only real method, imho, that you can use is to swim into the cave along the ceiling, and camp on top of the tower, above the upstairs gobbys, the one that you are interested in is the middle deepwater goblin. I think a few others, detail this method and talk about this camp strat. You are going to pac the outside DW goblins, and pull the PH or Lord as the case may be (back to the way you entered is a great pull spot), but not too far back, if one of the two goblins near the entrance is a shaman you may find ur enemy being healed, so just watch how far away from the tower you go (just make sure he is out of the range of all healers I advise pulling with a stun, but you can do it with a nuke as well, and kill using the root nuke method. Also note, even with this method, the goblin may sometimes opt for a range attack after leaving his original position, as with all other attacks underwater, the arrows or spells will push you and increase their chances of interupting you, just stay with it. Kill, loot, return to camp spot and wait another 28-30 mins. I camped Berg from 11a.m. to about 8a.m. EST, for my longest run, somewhere in the middle a druid showed up while I was fishing in between PH spawns(5 hous of gems got to me)...we had words about who was there, even though he admitted to seeing me there fishing before he even set up, word to the wise, set up T.V. or whatever you need to close at hand, and dont leave the camp spot. I personally checked and msg everyone in Lake Rathe, before setting up camp, but some do not believe in that policy, and I you have no choice but to respect that. At any rate, I logged on this morning, about 3 days after first camp, went to spot, and there Lord was, just sitting there, no1 else in sight, so I killed the ******* and got a crown, gloves, and jade ring.

Now for my theory, basically I only had first hand experience with 2 downings of Lord Berg, one was when I killed him, around 11 a.m. and another when he was killed right before I got there, at about 9a.m. both EST (time zone). SO perhaps he has a thing for the morning hours somewhat.....this is only a possiblility... a theory first and foremost.
Lost your PH?

Straight to the ponit: Check along the cieling of the west tunnel that leads to the underwater tower. My placeholder was missing and that's where I found it, floating in place tight to the cieling just as you barely enter the west tunnel.

I spent 5 hours camping Bergergle a few days prior and only had the Drood piece drop twice... and honestly since I took over the camp from someone else I never really got an accurate count of how many goblins were spawning - I probably wasn't even killing Bergurgle's PH.

Moral of the story:When you first arrive, save yourself the mental anguish and let the camp fully spawn. If there's not 3 goblins in the top of the tower then your PH is probably missing.

Fact: The Druid epic goblin mobs corrupt/tainted are NOT on the same PH. They are seperate and can both spawn at once so don't assume that if the druid mob drops it's piece that you are killing the right creatures.

Good luck all and hopefully this saves you some time and stress here :)

btw, I know that goblin was my PH since I monitored the camp for about 40 mins and nothing popped in the PH spot until I killed that goblin in the tunnel. It was the first goblin I killed that day, and Bergurgle spawned almost EXACTLY 30 mins later (Bergurgle was only the second goblin I killed)
PH not being up
# May 12 2004 at 5:44 AM Rating: Decent
If the PH is not up.. that means it ran from someone else before and went into the top/bottom/side of the underwater cave..which means you can NO LONGER get to it. period. Its happen to me several times, being a cleric my root kind of wears fast and they still run. hrd enough to get a root spell off underwater with those bastards. But the GM's are somewhat fast and friendly about respawning whichever mobs i lose.

Tried this today also.

Killed everything in and around the tower except the goblin thats at the base of the tower on the South East side.

This has not worked yet after the 4th PH spawn.

Nutaris Sage also said something about the SE spawn being the first one to pop all the time, this was not the case for me as of 5/29/04.

Had to go topside twice to find wayward spawning 'an aqua goblin's.

After about 5 hrs of camping, we thought of something...

Has anyone noticed that no matter in what order you kill the goblins at the base of the water tower...the one on the south east corner always spawns first?

So, we decided to leave the one on the south east corner up. We continued to kill the others until the middle upper goblin spawned. It was Lord Bergurgle.

I say it was just luck and our time to get the guy, but if anyone wants to experiement and see if there is a connection, please do.

04/23/04 on Luclin Server... Deep is here... but not any dw goblins... I've been sitting here for over 2 hours now... Wondering if epic quest is broken... I even went and talked to Shmendrik Lavawalker to see if that would trigger the spawns...

I can't kill PH if no place holder around...

Anyone have any suggestions??

Update, it is now 3:07 pm... And I've been here this whole time... Only one place holder has spawned... And that was when the 2 side goblins spawned around 0900 this morning... There has not been any spawns of the PH since... From what I was told by a high lvl cleric, there was an issue last night (04/22) around 10:30 pm when all goblins in the top of the tower stopped spawning... Evidently, there is some bug...

Will continue the camp today... If anyone has any suggestions... Would appreciate input... GM's swear to me that the quest isn't bugged.

27 total hours in camping this spot... What you do is kill all NPC's above the tower (on dry land) to make the PH spawn ... After PH began spawning, Lord Bergurgle spawned on 4th or 5th cycle...

Good luck to everyone camping this beast in the future.

I know this has been posted to death, but since I just did this I thought a nice, one post, up to date summary would help anyone attempting to do this.

I completed this portion with my 54 cleric solo.

Since this portion of the epic will take place underwater, the first thing I would recommend doing before going after Bergurgle would be to stop by the bazaar and get either an EB (Enduring Breath) item, or an EB potion if you can’t cast EB or equivalent spells. I opted to buy a rebreather and not have to worry about any spells running out on me. I took my newly purchased rebreather and headed to Lake Rathetear.

There are a few different ways to get there. I opted to take the Oggok stone from the PoK (you will zone to the Feerrott). I headed west through the Feerrott and zoned into the Rathe Mountains. From there I proceeded north-west across the zone and zoned into Lake Rathetear. I got smacked by a Cyclops in the Rathe Mountains but he conned green to me and I wiped him with a couple nukes.

After zoning into Lake Rathetear, you will be on the eastern side of the lake, center of the map. If you walk straight west from the zone-in point, you will find a boat dock at the edge of the lake. Walk right off the dock heading west (into the water) and keep swimming west. You will approach an island that has a tower in the center. The location of the entrance to the underwater cavern you must now find is about 2802, -897. The easy way to find it is to swim up to the edge of the tall mountain on the north-east side of the island. Dive to the bottom and the cave entrance is actually in the base of the mountain. Head west into the tunnel.

You will pass two Aqua Goblin guards in the tunnel. They conned green and didn’t aggro on me. I killed them anyway, nasty goblins. Further west from the guards, the tunnel opens up into a larger, round cavern. There is a tower in the center of the cavern (I saw it on my map). This is where you will find Lord Bergurgle. There are four mobs at the base of the tower, one at each corner. They will either be Aqua Goblins (green to me) or Deepwater Goblins (light blue to me).

It’s important to note at this point that fighting these goblins can be a bit tricky. Every one of them can cast heal on themselves and they do quite frequently. I was getting frustrated fighting the Deepwater Goblins as I would get them down to 15-30% and they would jump back up over 50%. I finally used the strategy of loading 3 different stuns and a couple good nukes. I would stun, nuke, stun, nuke, etc. This seemed to work well once I got the timing down. Even the green mobs were doing this and I was cursing up a storm fighting them.

The tower is very small and only has two levels. I found two green Aqua Goblins on the first level and killed them quickly. The second level is where Lord Bergurgle resides. You can swim up through a hole in ceiling of the first level.

(NOTE: You can avoid any and all mobs by swimming along the ceiling of the tunnel when you first enter, and approaching the tower from above. The top of the tower is open, and you can perch along the wall at the top and look down into the second level. You will be sitting far enough away that you won’t draw aggro from anything.

The second level contains three goblin spawns. There is a 57th-58th level NPC named Deep that resides here as well. She conned indifferent to me and did not aggro when I smacked the other mobs. The three goblins will be either Deepwater, Tainted, or Shamans. They mostly conned light blue to me with an occasional dark blue. They spawn on one side of the tower and the one in the middle is the PH for Lord Bergurgle. He was not up when I arrived so I had to play the waiting game. I killed the three goblins that were present, and swam up to the top of the tower and sat on the wall looking down into the second level. The goblins on the right and left were on a six minute timer, and the center goblin (the PH for Lord Bergurgle) was on a 30 minute timer, right down to the second. I basically waited for the center PH to pop, pacified the right and left goblins and pulled the center mob away from the rest and killed it. Repeat cycle.

It took me about four hours of killing the PH, waiting, killing the PH, waiting, and then Bergurgle finally popped. He was dark blue to me. I pacified the other two and pulled Bergurgle back from the tower a bit (didn’t want any adds). I rooted him and using the stun and nuke method took him out quite easily and looted the crown. I’ve heard nightmare stories of people camping him for 50+ hours. Maybe I got lucky, I don’t know, but since it’s random you just never know.

That was all there was to it. I hope this helps.

I dont usually complain but come on :(

I have acquired all 10 Lucid Shards for both my cleric and warrior combo in about 56 hours total... got very lucky in ME.

Well heres how this camp has gone down so far

9hours first night 2/15/04(NOthing)
4hours 2/16/04 (nothing)
2hours 2/17/04 (nothing)
6hours 2/18/04 (nothing)
had fun 2/19/04 (nothing)
4hours 2/20/04 (nothing)
8hours 2/21/04 (nothing)
9hours 2/22/04 (nothing)
5hours 2/23/04 (nothing)
3hours 2/24/04 (nothing)

I am noticing a general trend here :( So far 50 hours, and nothing, maybe this will top the 56 hours I spent on Shard hunting and then again maybe not, doubtful though :(

I do hope that you realise the Lucide shards are not part of the Cleric Epic you need Pearlicent Fragments that drop off of veriouse mobs in Skyfire, and you only need 4. Would hate to think you camped those for your cleric's epic.

His loc can be deceiving. He is in the Gobby tower underneath the island in Lake Ratheater. His PH is the middle gobbie right in front of Deep. It is the same place the rod for the Staff of the Wheel spawns.

I used my SK to tank him. Decided to use HT since I didn't have stun. Got him to 50 then HT put him in flee mode so didn't have any problem finishing him. Took me about 5 hours over two days to get him. Recommend you do short camps versus one long one.

Currently at 10 hours camping - spawns every 29 minute - mind numbing.

Easier with an Enduring breath item, just sit on top of the tower and nuke/stun/ root/ nuke

This is less fun than camping the pearl shards. Good luck clerics

Well, I went the back way to avoid any chance of KS by Natasha, and just got the damaged crown first. As for Lord of the Morons, I've been camping him off and on (for at least 3-4 hours at a time) for the past 6 weeks with my hubby's necro (for company mostly - but also for DMF). No spawn yet. <sigh> One of these days, he will spawn for me, and I will make him pay dearly, as my hubby, being a necro, has some NASTY dots to throw on him. <grins> Good luck to you all and gratz to those who have gotten it already! :)

2 sessions here, one of a couple of hours, one of four hours to get the crown. Cleric can handle it alone, but if you can bring a friend for company and because it reduces the chance of them healing themselves.

I tell you this is nothing compared to the agonies of Gimblox and his PH with the 19 min spawn. I think I almost lost my mind in that dungeon!

Checking after a patch generally only helps on mobs that have multiple spawn points. It's simple math - if the the mob can spawn at multiple points, and a patch spawns all points at once, then you have a higher chance of the mob spawning at that time. Usually, you're only getting a max of a few spawn points at one time from your own killing.

A guildmate (cleric) and I (druid) decided to go play underwater, and see if we can get the corrupt gobbie and begurgle. Well.. after about an hour we landed our 3rd tainted gob and that one spawned the corrupted and gave up the lakewater. As for begurgle, we stayed there another 9 hours without any luck, at that point we logged off, planning to return the next day. We returned to find the same spawns in the tower, tainted to the left of deep and two deepwaters. So we figured.. hey! we got lucky, noone disturbed the camp. And we thought we were going to be in luck and spawn begurgle in no time. . . . . 14! yes 14 hours later, we're still there.. about 10 druids came and left with thier lakewater. At that point we had to call it a day once again. Lord Begurgle... you *******! You've got to spawn one of these days.. and when that happens, oh your gonna pay... your gonna PAY!
