Camp soloable at 55

Alot of druids I talked to said this is one of the hardest corrupted. So far I think thats true but its also doable at 55 solo. I actually had quite some fun at this camp so far although I have yet to see a tainted in about 2-3 hours of camping it.

There was a bit of a learning curve and I died twice but now its stable and i'm controlling the camp with ease.

What to bring:
1. If you dont have an enduring breath item like rebreather, bring enduring breath potions. I brought two stacks as I have an alchemist.
2. Might be a good idea to bind outside until you get the hang of the camp.
3. Elder Spiritist Vambs are very useful in this camp.
4. You need Call of Karana and Glamour of Tunare.

The mobs are fast and hit pretty hard, they have quite a bit of hp but are totally root rottable. There are 3 different classes wiz, ranger, cleric. The clerics heal quite a bit, so keep Scoriae memmed for them and start spamming at 50%. You CAN run them out of mana but it takes a long time.

This is a fun charm camp. How to own the camp:

1. Break the main room when you get there, or swim to one of the caves off the main cave if you are not comfortable rooting and taking two or you have two clerics up in main room.
2. Watch out for pats! There is a pat that goes between caves that but remember they can be rooted, so that is how i split the camp.
3. Get the highest ranger or wizard you can, I have a 47 ranger seahorse who has been crushing for me. He quads for 95-110 and loads of hp, heals himself, has thorns and buffs.
4. How I engage:
a) Root the target (important in case charm breaks mid fight).
b) If you have ES vambs click them now.
c) stay out of range in case charm drops then your target wont be able to melee you and you only have to deal with one angry mob.

Buff your self with regrowth, shield, enduring breath. Buff your pet with regrowth, thorns, shield. Refresh glamour of tunare and charm as needed.

You will tear through this camp. I havent fought a corrupted or tainted yet but even with the complet heal I just know i will destroy it, if you get a good 47 level seahorse pet you will dominate.

Only dicey part is breaking into the camp, keep egress memed.

BONUS: A worn enduring breath shield drops of the named in this camp a seahorse matriarch. This was a game changer as I drowned once when i didnt see my potion dropped in time. Now the camp is pretty chill.

I'm pretty certain there's a special PH seahorse that spawns in the main seahorse room. Clearing the area quickly with a lvl 65 shows me that there's one seahorse that pops separately from the other expected ones ( It was a spinereef seahorse and is on a different spawn timer from the 2 that spawn in that room. It seems to spawn on the boulder in the middle of the room.

FYI,
Both the Tainted and the Corrupted Seahorses will full heal around 45%.
Each one only did it once, but sure surprised me when it happened.

In addition to the seahorse caves, there are also two seahorse spawns in the "Temple of Prexus" room just before, where Undertow spawns. Got my corrupted to spawn there after 3-4 cycles. Both will aggro if you tag one, but you can use calm animal on them to split them.

Easy to molo with a tank merc at 48. I didn't have an enduring breath item so I just used the spell, nothing in the seahorse area tried to dispell it.

10/20/2016 -- Can confirm that the tainted seahorse spawned in the first large cave room. Spent about 30 minutes continuously clearing the caves and area where Undertow spawns.

Corrupted spawned right after tainted was killed.
62 Druid and Bard with Warrior and Rog Mercs. Nothing stood a chance.

Happy Hunting!

It took me about 3 hours to complete and I prob spent another hour in the zone.
The corrupted seahorse spawned in the seahorse caves for me, in the first biggest cave, just as you pass the mermaid guarding the door to the entrance of the seahorse caves.
It took about 3hrs of clearing all seahorse in the caves when they spawned plus the room before the seahorse cave where undertow spawns. I also cleared
Estrelle's room a few times, mainly from boredom.

good luck, make sure you have a wearable breathing item, as its a lot easier. If your high enough (elaborate defiant head piece is good)

To save everyone searching for it, I copied from Rawbear post of mar 13 2003:

"OK, There's an easier way to get past Estrelle. There's another path that leads you to the mermaids on the other side of her. I've made the trip countless times with Invis alone. Take a CoH mage with you and you can invis to your camp, then CoH the rest of your group to kill the searhose:

Enter Kedge, invis and swim down the main vertical to the next level.

Enter the East alcove.

Swim down the vertical in the floor in that alcove to the first horizontal tunnel. (north)

You will swim into an alcove sized room, turn right (East) and there will be a vertical fork (both upper and lower paths).

Take the upper path to a room similar to the last.

Another right (east) and you will see a fallen gate. swim into the gate and down the vertical.

This will empty into the mermaid room on the other side of Estrelle.

Turn left (east) and swim across the mermaid room into the alcove. This alcove is safe for rebuffing and such.

Turing left (north) again will take you into a large room. Immediately turn left (east) and you'll find yourself in the seahorse caves. Pick a cave and camp your seahorse"

Many thanks Rawbear

Big thanks to RawBearNYC for that post from way back in the day (March 13, 2003). Perfect directions. I made it to the caves quickly and easily with invis.

Playing on the Mayong 51/50 server. At level 60 with my warrior merc, I made the rotation through the caves only twice before the tainted spawned. I also killed the seahorses in the large room outside of the caves for good measure. I think I was there less than 30 minutes. I just got lucky!

Since only one person mentions it and since it's not in the write-up nor under the loot, the name of the druid epic piece is called:

Where the hell are the sea horse caves? I am at the start of the zone and it seems to me no one really tells you how to get there. Just makes me mad. I was in the star room with a 70 pally, aggroed 3 and we wiped like hell. 66 druid here and we wiped really bad. THey were DB to me and i wanna know where these so called sea horse caves are. Plz reply to me. Thanks

Look way down at the posts, the one dated March 13, 2003. He gives directions.

If you know the way to the Undertow, then go there. But just before the Undertow room is a room you pass thru. If you look on your right, you'll see a hole in the wall. Thats the entrance to the seahorse caves. The exact name of the mobs are "a squallsurge seahorse", "a smoothebrine seahorse" and "a spinereef seahorse".

DC'ed a seahorse as a pet. It was LB to me at 65 and it was a wizard (bonus! it self-buffed between fights). It did most of the work clearing the camp. Tainted popped on the last mob before I was calling it quits for the night (my DC just repopped, so maybe 1.5 hrs camping).

Took me a good amount of time to get my pet to back off and the tainted to stop casting and come to me (I got a tainted a couple nights ago and it was fighting my pet half in the ceiling and when the corrupted spawned, it must not have liked spawning in the ceiling and popped at the other end of the zone...ugh...so this time I make sure I'm fighting in the larger room when the tainted dies).

Then I dotted and let the pet work on it. I think both the tainted and corrupted are clerics and can CHeal. The corrupted is for sure. It did it to me twice (was gettin sleepy and didn't stun in time).

It summons too. Pet was able to keep aggro for the most part. DS on me and pet helped.

It dispells. One of the seahorses earlier got my KEI and the corrupted got my Pot9. Grr.

It died. I was at 25% health 6% mana and my pet was at 5% health. *pant pant*

Grabbed my loot and ran for the hills :)

Would probably have died real quick if I would have casted my first stun earlier. They Cheal when below 50% health, so look for a cast, but no result after 3-4 secs (their CHeal takes 10sec to cast too), then stun and hope it interrupts. If so, nuke and stun again. Should be close to death at that point. They have high cold resists, so you will need your less mana-friendly fire-based nukes.

Actually there are about 5 named mermaids. Auraline, Nyrein, Shellara, and Coralyn are the others I think. Check here:

Estrella saw through my innate cammo on my way to the seahorses. Luckily she caught me in a cooridor. No adds. She paid dearly for her gifted sight...

# Mar 10 2005 at 3:53 PM Rating: Decent
I went to Kedge today dreading yet another long underwater camp. I had a 70 enchanter and a 60 cleric with me. Our paladin went LD on the way so I ended up being the tank. We invised up and went to Estrella's room and hugged the wall so we didnt get agro. I looked on track and the tainted was up already *dance*. I tracked right to him but all I could see was his tail hanging down as most of him was stuck in the ceiling above. The tainted also summoned. None of the others did that I recall. It also conned DB to me at 63. I tried to pull it back from the roof but it would summon me back to the corner each time so i had to just beat it down where it was. I did the corrupted the same way. Since I put this off until the end all I had to do was turn in the items and find the treant for the final turn in. Thank the Gods its over. I couldnt take another underwater camp at this point LOL.

Ok i look on here for something that would say what cave had the PH. I found that it came from the cave that has 2 seahorse in it on the left as you enter main cave go striaght in you will come to a point where you can go left or right go left he spawn in that cave. I started camping him at 5 pm he spawn at 8pm so 3 hours i hope this helps out a bit. Also that cave has 2 seahorse one moves around the one that moves is not the PH it will be the second one in the room to the back of it.

My Solo Adventure
# Mar 20 2004 at 12:56 AM Rating: Excellent
I am a 65 lvl druid who found this zone very hard. I never been here before, so I had a lot to learn. I was interrupted everytime I was hit and it took awhile to stop moving for a recast. Here is how I solo'd it. I invised and ran around the zone a little bit to find my way. Close to the zone a few levels down is a room with 1 to 2 sharks in it. They look like hammerheads. I rooted both of them and put my lvl 64 Ldon Dot on it for 300hp a tic. One died, the other only went down to 65%. That one had a lot of HP. So I DC'd it. I then started making my way to the Corrupted room. I was careful of pulling one mermaid at a time on my way so I didnt get cross healing between them. On my last mermaid before the room, I ran against the far wall away from the Estrella room and pulled the mermaid to the next room and shark killed it. I medded a small while, and rushed the main room with the pillars. I got instant agro with the piranas, but no problem, shark takes them all with little trouble because I gave it POT9, DS, Regen, Savage spirit. I am not casting unless I have to, such as interrupting the Cheals of the mermaids and Seahorses so I can spend mana on pet. As long as you dont sit down, you should not get any pirana agro. If you do, run to the left side corner as you enter the room and by putting your back into it, you should not be interrrupted as you cast a root or just take damage as your shark finishes the rest of the pirana. IF the Mermaid on the right side heal the pirana, who cares, shark doest take a lot of damage and will outeat the heals. Next take the 2 seahorses in the front room. I pull the closest with my high dot and run to the same corner, keeping the pet with me to get out of the other SH's heal range. I keep up my high stun spell and my high nuke spell. if they start to heal at 40%, I stunned, then nuked it dead. if they started to heal at under 30%, I just stunned and the shark usually finished it. Watch for the dispell color, if they dispell your shark, they could dispell your DC and then you are in trouble. I stun whenever I see that funky reddish color glowing. Then do the same for the mermaid on the right side, then hit the caves by pulling one at a time or rushing the caves that just have one in them. If you keep them seperate, you wont waste mana on blasting Chealed mobs. Then I just sat in main room and waited for the pirana to respawn. The corrupted spawned in one of the caves. Both the corrupted and Tainted summon, but with shark on them, I just ran away and didnt sit down. I hit them with a dot and never sat down. Stunned and nuked when they got low. I got a few named in the room while I was fighting. A named seahorse and a named mermaid. The Mermaid was easy, the Seahorse was a Jerk. He dispelled very fast, resisted nukes and the stun. Was DB to me. Right after it died, a Guardian popped in the zone near Phiny. Good luck, I did most of it without c3 because I lost it on the DB seahorse. But didnt need it as long as I kept everything seperated so they would not cheal each other. When the hurt comes down on you, Exodus is a life saver.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 01 2004 at 12:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I just killed the Corrupted Seahorse tonight and I just had to mention that this is much easier than most people would have you believe. I simply parked my Druid near the seahorse caves and brought in my level 63 Beastlord. The Beastlord pet tore through everything, never needing a heal. The Tainted spawned just inside the opening to the caves after the first wave of kills. I pulled him out into the big room which had just been cleared. He went down very easy. I don't even recall if any of his casts hit me he dropped so fast. The Corrupted popped immediately of course and he was just as easy. Never once did they get off a complete heal. The mermaid that spawns just outside the caves was even healing the Corrupted as we beat it down. I killed the mermaid afterward to leave the room clear to log on my Druid and loot the crystals. For having a reputation as being one of the most difficult parts of the Druid epic I would have to say BAH! This is without a doubt one of the easiest fights in the Druid epic. And now my Druid is just 2 fights away from completing his =)

Well, of course it's easy if you have an level 63 alt do the kill for you. The quest was made back before uber PoP gear and the level 65 cap. It wasn't designed with those things in mind, and, personally, I think those things have trivialized most of the epics. :(

I have always heard this was one of the hardest parts of the epic to get done, so I pretty much saved it for last. A high level group in my guild got together to kill Ulump Pujik in Swamp of No Hope. We killed him pretty quick. He was right in the spot that all the posts say. The group broke up and I decided to go over to Kedge Keep and bind right at the entrance and get ready for another day to get my guildees to help me. I heard that this can be a long camp and it is a hard spawn.

I zoned in binded and thought I'd have a look around. I brought up track and saw to my surprise "A Tainted Seahorse". I knew I needed a good group for this according to the posts, so I was about to send a tell out to the guild when one of my guildees zoned in and swam right past me. She is a 65 mage. She was there for Phinny who wasn't up. I sent her a tell and she said we'd be able to handle the Tainted and Corrupted by ourselves.

I had to admit I was real nervous. Based on all the stuff I heard and read. I thought, "Oh great we'll die here and while we are looking for rezzes some druid will come along and take it". Basically the fight lasted one minute. Her pet tore these things up. I didn't even get off a spell. Looted and now I'm one happy druid.

My advice is to go there scope out the scene and get a high level mage to help you. It takes the excitement out of it but I got what I came for.

I would say no, may very from server to server and might get lucky. However on Lanys T'vyl the zone is empty 90% of the time. Few people want to deal with having enduring breath up for old world loots. When there are people in the zone about 80% of the time they are after this guy, the other 20% are after Phinni or other epic mobs like undertow.

I'm ready to try it! I think I can solo one big epic piece with Kazad and Pot9/C3 as long as I time the spawns right. Theres 2 roamers, one will be my pet!

How much would it take to DOT this thing? Im Lvl 57, max wisdom, Affliction Effiency III, Mana Preservation IV and I have the Warden necklace that is the clicky root.

I think my charm will last 2-3 minutes, that's how long it lasts in the POP and WW.

Should I go for it?

65 Druid, 55 Druid (me), and 54 Bard

(Awesome and Kind!) 65 Druid pretty much did the work... charmed another seahorse (not the soothebrine, the other one) and used it as tank... He would C Heal the pet (with druid C Heal) while we would deal with adds... No adds to speak of, because the tainted was a roamer based out of the first cave on the left, and he charmed the other roamer... We just DoTed, ran from it around the cave if it hit us, and watched mainly, and killed it in it's cave.

Prior to the kill, I was trying to solo the seahorses. I would charm a soothebrine, and kill a few, then get some adds and have to evac. Did that about 5 times. Last time, I met a bard at zone who was looking for Phinny and bored, so we group up. The bard and I were duoing and clearing out the seahorse caves with ease mostly, even after KEI wore. I had charmed a Soothebrine, which are clerics who will C Heal themselves and you if you are lucky. We camped in the cave with 2 seahorses and cleared them all out until the tainted spawned. The tainted took a liking to me and nuked me repeatedly for 516 dmg or thereabouts. It also hit for 140ish. We were doing ok, but we got backpops and it caused us to wipe. We had to hire a rez and while I was taking the cleric back to PoK after rez, a druid came to kill the tainted. He was a real jerk too. I explained to him that we had been camping the mob for 3 hours and that we did all the work to spawn it and that we wiped and I was going to get more to kill it. He said too bad. Meanwhile a 65 wizzy comes and solos Phinny (poor bard). I sent some tells to officers in the jerk druid's guild, and they got him to halt his procession to the tainted, despite him lying to them about what transpired. A 65 Druid shows up out of nowhere and offers to help. I ask him if we need more people to kill the tainted, just as he aggros 4 swordfish (due to conlict between AA camo and bard invis song, I think), and we watch as he nukes them all to pieces. So ok, we can handle it. We worm through the tunnels and get to the tainted (invis all the way). Jerk who was trying to take my epic spawn watches as we kill the tainted and corrupted (well, mainly as the 65 druid kills them). Did my turn-ins and got the Cleansed Spirit of Faydwer. (FYI, solo'd the corrupted seafury night before, see my post on that under its database entry, and me and a couple of guildies killed the corrupted brownie a while back)

Thanks to all that helped!

No, it's not random. Like the other Druid epic Corrupted mobs, its placeholder is the Tainted version - in this case, the Tainted Seahorse. When you kill the Tainted, the Corrupted spawns immediately from the Tainted's corpse.
