Spawned on the beach at +1781, -2951. Basically wipe out the cyclopses on the beach on the SW corner of Cyclops Island.

Spawned at 1615, -2649. Seems like the cyclops on the south side of the island spawn faster than the north side. Very strange.

Quag was not up on tracking when I arrived at the island so I took merc off of aggressive and agro'd pretty much the whole island. Sicked the merc on them and cleared the huge mob of uglies. By the time I had looted them all Quag spawned and I ran over and killed him and collected the horn. Took longer to get to him than it did to spawn and kill him.

Camping him with my 61 Bard for the epic. Was kiting the whole south side of the island when I noticed him in amongst the crowd.

I highsunned him back to his spawn which was 1583, -3176.

Just to the west of the druid rings and on the beach, as said previously. Only loot was the horn.

Popped for me at pos 1805.52, neg 2895.15 on cyclops' island, a short distance west of the druid rings (on the beach).

Just killed all the cyclops over and over until he popped up on track at that loc.

I'm sure I did something wrong, considering that I returned to this game after 8 yrs., so I'm like a noob.

Lvl. 49 drood. This guy aggro'd me, quickly dropped my mana to 0. Luckily I had a healer merc. Swam back to the island where the boat comes. No spells available to me, I'm currently standing here melee'ing him down slowly. Healer merc is keeping me healed. Put a Totino's pizza in the oven. Melee slowly taking him down. Still no mana. Called my wife. Checking on my pizza. Wife says she will get off work soon. He's down to 43%. My melee sux. Down to 37%. Still no mana. Pizza's done. 25%. I think I'm gonna take a nap....

Yes. You weren't using a tank merc.

Finally, killed him. He ran at 20% health, so I could actually regain some mana. Sheesh....

Just charm kite the entire cyclops population. He'll pop. Just be careful of their wide hitting radius. If you don't know how to charm kite, well then you're not having as much fun as you could be.

Easy kill with my wee bard. I took him on melee, max hit that I saw was 153, and resisted every mana drain (which he seemed to throw out extremely quickly).

I haven't seen a loc posted for the Island he spawns on here, so here it is. It's the west most of the five islands in the northeast corner of the zone -
Center of the islands loc is pos1300, neg5900 give or take a step or two.
His PH is any of the Seafury Cyclopses from what I noticed, which all roam the island, thus theres no point posting a specific loc for him. Just zerg the island and he'll turn up soon enough =P
Easy kill

solo'd him easy with a 46 druid (3 bubbles of mana left after fight) wasnt hit once.. resisted most of the mana drains.. and i am not twinked. (got him to spawn 3 times in a row.. trying to hunt for my corrupted seafury.) drops alluring horn every time and its for the bard epic. I hunted the seafury cyclops' for about 2 hours. No corrupted or tained the whole time, and countless quag spawns..
Easy kill

Can anyone provide the /LOC or PH info for Quag? Have been looking for 4 days and no Quag. How do I find or spawn him?

Thanks - Poeima

Quag has no set loc and will spawn at random by killing seafuries anywhere on the island. The island is very small and keeping track of what is up at any given time is pretty easy. My suggestion would be to kill every seafury cyclops you see, Quag will eventually spawn. He is ALOT more of a frequent spawn than the druid epic needed, tainted/corrupted mob that also spawns on this island by killing seafuries.
spawn??

Been tryin to get this guy to spawn for 2 days now....killed every seafury on the island....hailed the NPC in Butcherblock....nothing. Can anyone confirm if he is a rare/triggered spawn? How the heck do you get this guy to spawn?

Just fooling around for some xp:
55 ranger (me)
51 berzerker
42 paladin
42 beastlord
I pulled him without realizing it was a named and landed 2 dots befotre getting the mana sucked out of me. Good thing I had KEI for after. He chain casts a mana drain spell that is hard to interrupt. Not sure if it's an AoE but our paladin was also oom in a hurry, maybe from healing me. Seems to have double the HP of regular seafury cyclops and is too busy casting to hit very often ( heck, if a ranger can tank... :) ). Main thing is to pull him close to the water to avoid adds and have good DPS because you'll be whacking away at this big ugly for a few minutes.

Did the same, not realizing he was not a seafury. rooted and started doting, with about 25-30% mana to start. had the dots all land, and all the drain manas fail. Had my own resist magic up, as a 54 druid. He needed 2 full rounds of my dots, winged death, Breath of Ro, stinging swarm (from bracer) and drifting death. Thus I hit for over 300 per tick. He did land a couple fo the drains, but only after he was well on his way to joining his seafury comrades I had been doing the same to. BTW, the bracer saves lives. while I may only take off aobut 1% per tick with the swarm, it is mana-free. Leaves mana for other things, like root, snare or ......egress.

This guy kept trying to join in the fights when my 51 Mage was killing Seafury Cyclopses with a 49 Druid. First time he was the third add in a bad pull and we didn't know what he could do, so the Druid got most of their mana drained and I went pretty much out of mana healing my pet and nuking the mob. Luckily they got enough mana back to Evac us as my pet was dying.

Second time we knew how to do it right. The Druid pulled, my pet rooted and thumped it, when the pet was almost dead and Quag was still rooted I summoned another pet to replace it, and then nuked when Quag was low on health. Easy enough kill with the right spells memmed and another caster to distract his mana theft spell :).
No mana pool??
# Oct 09 2003 at 1:22 AM Rating: Decent
As a 55 Druid with a magic resist of about 150, this guy is cake. He is lucky to drain me once with his spell. I simply root and DoT him to death. However, he has attempted to cast his mana drain spell on me over 60 friggin times during those encounters. Apparently he has no mana pool or something. All I know is I enjoy seeing him eat sand.
Not a problem

I was killing seafury cyclops's for a druid's epic when Quag popped. Logged on bard and killed him in 5 minutes twisting flame/disease/frost with walrus skin drum at level 47. Never got touched, resisted maybe 1/3 of the mana drains.

Bards can solo this guy easily
# Jun 06 2003 at 9:19 PM Rating: Decent
To any bard this guy cant do a thing. I soloed him at 42 simply twisting selo's Chant of Disease and Chant of Flame, occasonaily I charmed a cyclops and sent it at him to take him down a bit quicker but other than his mana drain and hard hitting he doesnt have much going for him. Also his mana drain doesnt affect bard mana which I used quite a bit of charming. He casts no other spells and although he has a nice little chunk of health he isn't anymore trouble than perhaps making you miss the next boat outa there.

He Popped while I was solo'ing the seafurys on the island with my animation, Didnt know who he was at the time, Tash'd him and he began to chain cast his mana drain, Pet aggro'd and ran to him, I Got off shiftless deeds, a DoT, and a Rune III on my pet before completely oom, my animation ripped through him pretty quick... Animations Rule :-)

I'm sitting on the island and I'm feeling adventerous... so I see this named Cyclops with cool looking weapon. So I'm thinkin "Hmm... wonder what that's for?" So I go to pull him... resisted darkness. All of a sudden he hits me with mana bleed 9 times in a row (I had DMF and Jboots on). Needless to say I didn't even have enough mana to cast lich... big mistake as he raped my pet. Not pulling this guy anytime soon... got him to 66% and had to FD and watch pet get obliterated... managed to get a BoD off so I had no problem regaining health and medding up to recast pet... /sigh
My Encounters
# Feb 20 2003 at 12:43 AM Rating: Decent
I've had 3 encounters with this guy... 2 out of annoyance that he was wandering the seafury island, and 1 because he was by himself on the AC island.

Encounter 1: Resisted initial mana drain, sent pet and tried dotting him to death, since fear kiting on the seafury island is nigh impossible due to pathing. Pet and dots got him down to about half health, then pet died and everything wore off. FD and /q to clear aggro... leave him alone the rest of the night.

Encounter 2: Notice he is out all by his lonesome on the AC island, so I go over there to give him a try since KEI ran out and I was getting ready to leave anyway. Pulled with darkness, resisted the mana drain once, but got hit the 2nd time. Sent pet to distract him, feared, Splurted, and then sat. Reapplied fear twice, and Quag is no longer among the living. /ooc'd to see if there were any bards in the zone, then did a /w and noticed I was the only one in the zone. Felt foolish. Gated to sell and get new KEI.

Encounter 3: Again, got annoyed that he was wandering the seafury island. I had SoW, so I decided to try and pull him over to the AC island and fear kite him there. He mana drained me like 5 times in a row and I went from fom to 20m very quickly. Sent in pet to distract him while I ran away. heh. of course he killed pet so again I FD and /q to clear aggro.

All in all, if I could just fear kite him I could drop him easily. But fear kiting is simply not possible on seafury island, and root-rotting him isnt an option because of mana drain.
RE: My Encounters
# Feb 23 2003 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
Had another encounter with him because I was feeling generous. There was a 39 bard in the zone so I told him that if he would pull Quag to AC island I would kill Quag and he would be one piece closer to his epic. He had no problems pulling him with Selos, so as soon as he got in range I sent pet, backed up, darkness, fear, and splurt. Reapply fear and he's dead, and the bard was one piece closer to his epic, and I ended up 6pp richer with a little bit of exp. Productive kill for everyone involved.
How I survived
# Jan 08 2003 at 3:13 AM Rating: Decent
I was ambushed by Quag and quickly learned about his mana drain. I was able to get off a quick root, then I dotted him with winged death. meanwhile he finished off what was left of my mana. I decided that since I still had fresh SOE, that I would continue the fight and see what happens. I have my EPIC so I had that DOT still available to me and I had Free snare on an earring and another free DOT on my bracers. I was able to get him down to about 50% with those then he finally broke my root. Because he had to stop to cast on me his mana drain, it was real easy to continue to right click all my free items to keep him at bay. after about 8 minutes, He was dead. I did get a star ruby off of him, but too bad there wasnt a Bard around to get his horn.
Ouch

I saw this guy for the first time last night, I'm a 54 Druid. He did 3 mana drains on me and wiped out 255 WIS + mana items, the entire mana pool.

I ran to the opposite side of the island and barely got enough to gate. Winged Death didn't even make a dent in his health, either I don't know the right tactic or he's a real bada**.
Quag strategy

A chanter and myself can easily take down Quag, if we stay out of his mana drain aura. The drain is quite quick and the first time we took him on, we barely got Gate off with the few bits of mana we had left.

If you have a pet and a healer, get the pet to take him on and keep the pet healed while you stay away from Quag's proximity.

For you shaman, cast HoS on your pet, then Alacrity. Pull Quag with a slow spell and get your pet to gain aggro. Pull yourself back and simply spend your mana keeping your pet alive. Have been able to solo Quag since level 49, but it is a tough fight and you have little or no mana left (unless you are blessed with KEI).

He only drops coin and the Alluring Horn.

Although he is a named mob, he spawns rather quickly after being killed. I have seen him pop within two minutes of being taken down.

I was in oot and a 60 bard shouted out he was gonna kite this *******. someone else shouted he's a tough little undercon, and the bard asked if he would help (the guy was a 53 pally). the pally shouted back sure, and he also added that he had to duo with a mage. he added that if he hits you once he steals all your mana (I'm not so sure about this.. but I never saw him). they ended up alive, because the bard shouted out how to get back to sister island. I guess he's not that hard.
RE: Duo
# Oct 29 2002 at 9:05 AM Rating: Decent
He doesnt have to hit you to suck your mana out, in fact, he could drain me at extreme range of dots with extended 3 item. What a pain!
