Also drops the Hollow Skull.

He spawned for me in the middle room near position 3 on the eqatlas map. His place holders are in the right corner as you look into the room. There are two other badgers in there. The PHs are skellies and badgers.

unlike other creatures in the tower, the cook or his placeholder are on a 1 hr spawn timer. I've done this quest several times (I have taken almost 15 chars from lvl 10-20 in the tower) and I've found its just best to randomly pop by the dinning room if you happen to have a skull handy. They sell for 100pp on the bazzar on stromm (good pp for a lvl 15 char). I've never done the quested version though, and do not know if the end result is different. If somone could tell me I would apreciate it.
Hes dead now
# Feb 28 2004 at 1:59 PM Rating: Decent
I killed a skele and it dropped glowing skull and handed it to him, he then says I now leave this dreadful place or whatever, he just falls apart like the other skeles do. But it did not say a Seleton cooks corpse. So I casted a 500+ nuke on him and it now said corpse on it, looted the sword, and sold both the skull of torture(the item he handed to me after returning skull) and fine steel long sword. Hes it's like hes giving good items away for free hehe.

I just found him in the Dining room on fourth floor. I looted a fine steel longsword.

Quest has been revamped.

Cook now spawns in the topmost tower area, and is most likely the final turnin mob.

Click through to the quest to read my post.

By the way - the 'A Glowing Skull' that drops occasionally in the basement can be turned in to the cook directly for the 'Skull of Torture' if you dont want to do all the combines et cetera noted in the quest walkthrough.

Honey Mush Bread
# May 19 2003 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
from what it looks like the final part of the quest is the Honey Mush Bread... but asking around and looking my self, I can't find any vendors that sell it... the may 14 fix said it is now sold in Cabilis... that has yet to be seen on my server...
RE: Honey Mush Bread
# Feb 15 2004 at 8:47 PM Rating: Decent
Yes it is sold in cab but I think it's sold from a iskar merchant in LOIO or FOB but I think you have to do a quest for him in order to get it. Good luck.
It has been seen on my server...

Anyone ever try a honey berry? Not sure on the size of it but berries have flesh. Honey Flesh. Hmmm. Maybe.

Just reading all of these posts reminded me that I picked up a tiny glowing skull with my rogue... this is what is said...

The Lore Tiny Glowing skull is the leader of a group of shaman who were cursed or something, and the other non-lore skulls are the followers. You need one lore and 5 non-lore skulls for the 4th Iksar Shaman skull quest. They drop off of Goblin Bloodtracers in Warslik Woods.. Best place is the first goblin ruins you come too when you take the right trail instead of the one that goes to the giant fort. This is on the assumption that you are an Iksar coming from Cablis...

As an aside, there's supposedly another tiny glowing skull which is Lore and has a -5 CHA stat

Gems dropped by Forager
# Apr 14 2003 at 10:16 PM Rating: Decent
Has any one tried some of the stones that the Forager dropped. I havn't reveived the two jars yet but I do have the tongue and the Forager drops a gem. Don't remember what it's called. If I get the two eyes any time soon I will let you all know.
RE: Gems dropped by Forager
# Apr 14 2003 at 10:24 PM Rating: Decent
I looted Carnelian and Ivory from the forager. Has any one tried these? I know Carnelian is used in Monk quest, but since the Forager drops the other 3 items... maybe the 4th is off him also. I think the glowing of the skull might have more to do with gemstones than and actual glow. But that's just a guess.
Why the basement?
# Dec 22 2002 at 4:31 PM Rating: Decent
eveyone here keeps camping things in the basement. whos to say the last item is in the basement? has anyone tried looking in the dining room? after all he is a cook.
the final piece?

Ok I think i have a very good hunch on this quest. And the reason it hasnt been solved. First lets examine the clues. You get the skull with four slots from the cook. The scroll from the jester tells you exactly what it is missing if you read it. No eyes, no tongue, to taste the sweet honey flesh. The eyes and tongue both drop off of the forager. But that leaves one empty slot. And the forager doesnt drop the fourth neither do any of the other spawns here. Lets think now. Why does the forager and only the forager have these items? Maybe the clue we have been lookin for is he foraged them? Not sayin a character can forage them but maybe the fourth item which very well could be Sweet Honey Flesh is foraged in kurns by a master forager. Or maybe you need to let the forager forage around for a bit to get it. Since mostly iksars are in kurns and their foraging skill isnt very high. This could be why it hasnt been found. Unfortunately my highest lvl character is a 28 iksar Sk I may well never know. But ithink I am on the right track here. Any else think so?

Bixie Pies?
# Aug 09 2002 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
I'm curious, has anyone tried the eyes, tongue, and the bixie pies you can forage in warsliks, SoNH, etc? Or maybe the ones that drop off the frogloks...
hmm...

Wild guess, but has anyone tried putting the note into it?
RE: hmm...
# Jun 04 2002 at 7:04 AM Rating: Default
hmmmm ... well bixies are bees... and bees make honey... the bees flesh / honey flesh... may have a point there.
RE: hmm...
# Jun 04 2002 at 7:03 AM Rating: Default

I have not been doing this quest for as long as the majority here seem to have been. However this is my theory... Glowing mask in Guk from the skelly monk... eyes from jar... and how about a froglok tongue? why not? get a glowing mask from guk why not a tongue.. hell why not a frog meat too for the sweet honey flesh? or maybe sweet honey flesh is bixie parts/meat? I dont know really but maybe i can get someone elses brain going on this. 8-)
RE: hmm...
# Dec 09 2002 at 10:57 AM Rating: Decent
I have tried honeycomb from bixies in Misty, didn't work with tongue and eyes from Kurns.

If you all actually read the note, you will probably find this quest makes some sence.

Within the tower lies the corpse of Mirgon Dower.
A faithful follower of Kurn's deadly tower. He served Kurn and kept him very well fed. Now it is time to replace his head. His new head did glow once upon a time. Now there are no eyes, no tongue, to taste the sweet honey flesh. And so the years flow. When all are back together the magic will once again glow.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7721

Hollow Skull off cook, a no brainer. Part of this quest. Canopic jars off Forager, very very possible to be part of this quest, especially since finding out you hand in the jars to the skele by the dry docks in OT (invis to undead and swim can get you there, you don't need invis or any high level) gives you eyes back. Tongue drops off Forager too, so yet another highly probable possibility. No mention of this "Glowing Mask". I have spent more time than most in Kurns Tower, and have pulled 9 IBC's and 3 Solists from it, just to give you an idea on how long I have been in there. This is really simple.

Hollow Skull, 4 slot container. May not use all 4 slots though.

Eyes mentioned have been found off Forager, as has tongue. Self Explanitory.

After killing the cook for the about 500th time, I figured there was no mask. Noone has verifiably seen it. The mask everyone mentions drops in Lower Guk.

May work and give you something on the combine of these 3 items.

If the combine doesn't work, what then? The note mentions Sweet Honey Flesh. A drop or something made in baking? Froglok Legs are sold in Cabilis, and froglok meat is easy to get. I wonder if this was a hint of what was to come in Velious with the tradeskills related shawl quests....

My opinion, noone has found this elusive mask from the cook. Stop looking for it and look for a recipie or a drop called sweet honey flesh. If you read the books available in cabilis, and look at what they have to say, you may find a hint of a food item made through baking that is the last piece of the puzzle, or you may find a mention of the flesh needed. Just a thought.

The other side of things, and all Iksar SK's should be well aware of this after how long we had to wait for Greenmist to be fixed, the quest is not fully implimented yet.

Forgot to mention this earlier, try using the racial abilities (swim, forage), looking for ground spawns, and things of that nature. They may be the answer you are looking for. Who has actually tried foraging in the basement of Kurns where every other piece drops?

# Mar 11 2002 at 2:38 PM Rating: Decent
Ive been doing this quets for 2 years.
I have carried the skull, eyes (removed from canopic jar), and dried tongue with me in hopes of finishing this quest. Skull does not combine with those three items. Nothing else that would seem to work, fits in the container. Anything that fits into the container does not combine. I have been meaning to try a Emerald Jungle Fruit for some time and havent tried one yet.
Stuff to put in the skull
# Feb 22 2002 at 4:34 PM Rating: Decent
Let's assume the dried tongue and two eyes (after being removed from the Canopic Jars) go in the skull. (All three are off the Forrager - damn, camping for all three will be rough... I did it - very long).

Who's to say there is a 4th item? Has anyone combined just the 3? I haven't got the eyes out of the jar (level 26 Iksar SK) yet but I'll work on that and try it.

I've never heard of a glowing mask off the Cook in Kurn's and I've seen many cooks there... I don't believe either of the two glowing skulls that drop in the tower can fit in the skull container (only tiny items go inside). Besides, does it make sense to put a glowing skull inside a skull container?

- Wyrmbite, Rodcet Nife server

UPDATE:

The tongue and eyes alone don't combine. Neither does it combine if you add the Jester's note.

the jester drops a note saying a bout the cook haveing the head but it needs 2 eyes and a toung, and the head is a 4 contaner so has anyone tryed putting the note in it too?

Just Following on with a logical thought progression, i would expect that having the 2 eyes and the tongue there would be a brain somewhere. I have the skull and am intrigued enough to attempt the remainder of the items. As such I have been trying to postulate a likely candidate for the fourth item. Has anyone had a brain of some kind drop in Kurns or FOB?

I have wondered through Kurns many times, but can't seem to find a post that states where the cook or jester spawns. I am looking for a thick-boned skellie, but need help of exactly where to find this creature. Where is the spawn place. Could someone please describe how to get there?

See www.eqatlas.com - the spawn loc for the jester isn't quite right but it will get you in the right area.

Ive killed the forager once and he droped a sealed canoptic jar. Now thinking about it i guess canoptic has something to do with eyes (optic?) i dunno ive never seen the word before. Anyways I have yet to find the tongue or one of the eyes and have given up on the jester after about 8 days also i am a monk can i Feign flop to the guy in OT? or have a high level tag and pull him? Is he an SK or a caster of some sort? Well anyways when you combine the container is it no drop? or is that the helm plain and simple. Oh yeah and is it glowing mask or glowing skull i have the skull no mask yet. Please dont post here if you dont have anything new to add. Just curious oh and i dont know if its possible to MQ this but im on aronyae ro. karm Hundredfists send me a tell.
RE: Not a monk quest
# Apr 25 2002 at 4:06 PM Rating: Excellent
heh, canopic (not opTic) jars were ceremonial jars used in egyptian mummification. They were used to hold the brain, eyes, tongue, heart, and liver (not absolutely sure on the liver, but I do believe there were only 5 jars used in a mummification) It was believed that when the dead rose to walk again in the spirit realm, they would be able to use the organs preserved in that way. Sorry about the school lesson, but ignorance is the bane of all mankind, and maybe within the lore of canopic jars might be your answer if you look hard enough.

Hunted area for about 4hrs. Killed jester once - 2hs fs, and cook once - hollow skull.

I spent 14 hours camping the jester when i was in my low 20's. Most of the time the tower was empty, all except for a 39 shammie who was camping the jester, and me. Basically, we went walked around and cleared the entire floor, then would med and talk and do nothing until most of the mobs respawned, then we would do it again. I killed about 12 Thickbone skeletons (only one foot dropped) and 8 or 9 fingered skeletons. That was it!!! No Jester and no Cook!!! I ended up making about 30pp (mostly in cp) and went out and spent that cash and just bought the shield the next day. I just want to try to start the hollow skull quest! Is that so wrong?!?!
