Hes not that tough...
# Jun 08 2002 at 5:57 PM Rating: Default
We had a 59 Warrior as MA and a 60 Pally as SA, with a 58 Bard singing AOE resist song, took approximately 2 minutes to drop. We couldn't slow him, but most the raid was low-mid 50's, the 59 Warrior was the only one to drop, and it was at the very end.

There was a total of about 20 People there, and only had about 4 clerics and 1 druid and 1 shammy.

Its not as hard as it may sound (especially if you have excellent teamwork)....the wait is the worst =)

We killed him last night with 9:

60 rogue
60 wizard
60 cleric
57 warrior
54 monk
54 bard
54 mage
51 enchanter
51 druid

Dropped circlet of fire, though :(

Sorry but it is true. After seeing all the post here I was quite worried about doing this part with success. We had 21 people there and we owned him. No pulling to skiyfire zone either. Just ganked him where he spawns at. Hell the clerics that were there besides the MA cleric all sent in their hammer pets at its back =P. But do note everyone there was 55+ and MA was a 60 epic Warrior.

Sounds like you need a good MA to keep aggro.. On General V'Ghera a bunch of my guildies got owned by not keeping the MA with aggro and this guy seems much harder
If you fail...

If a raid should fail, like mine last night, where during the pull 10 people went ld, including me, does the triggering cleric have to re-do all of the steps to respawn Mr. Fer? or is there some from of "oops" way of respawning?

any sugestions would be great, if not I'll be a 200 swimmer for certain

thanks

As long as Ixi is still up, you should be able to hit him again. He usually doesnt despawn right away.

I see a LOT of people complaining about being lvl 40 to 50, and getting raped like that, come on, it's a lvl 61 epic mob, it's for the safety of the members of our guild that I don't think we would ever let someone below lvl 50 even try and take a whack at this dude, because if the MA does lose aggro, and it will kill the lvl 40-50 person almost instantly as is proven with his 500 plus doubles, he'll just ping pong his way around without any clear MA and without any hope of accurate healing being done, in effect, a total annihilation. Long story short, don't try and attack a mob 10 to 20 lvl's higher then you without getting your rear end handed to ya. Oh, and if you think he hits hard, wait till you move on to Yelniak, or even on to the currently broken Vulak. ;)

About a month ago, while lfg in Velks a 58 cleric asked me if I wanted to help kill Ixiblat Fer. I was immediately stoked since he was next epic mob I needed to kill and I had never participated with Ixi and wanted to learn the tactics when my time came (my guild is still not sufficient enough to take him down). I stopped at Thurg bank to pick up my epic pieces 'jic' they would want to take him down a couple more times and ported to SF.
I zone into BW to see maybe a dozen peeps hanging around waiting for eveyone to show up when all of a sudden /ooc incoming ixiblat fer goes across my screen. I'm looking around thinking, "no fookin way!" I just arrived, nobody told me the plan, nobody also told me that I was the second cleric and last member they were waiting on!!! Oh boy,I thought: I'll get to see Ixi, toss a couple heals, watch my screen LOAD, and rez afterwards. By this time I'm thinking this is no longer such a wonderful opportunity for me. How was I to learn tactics against this guy if we wouldn't be alive long enough to implement any lol?!? I count 13 other people to help with this lvl 62, 32khp bad *** (13 other people to rez I'm thinking lol) when MA tells me and Mordof, 58 cleric, to chain DL on her until she goes to 50% health then to chain comp heal.
Here he comes... so I start chain bombing divine light until I am 40m and hold off since her health has been a steady 80-full health the whole time. Only the secondary assist went down and Ixi was gone in 60 seconds!!! 14 people! ( a couple of 60's with epics plus chanty/shammy tash/malo combo worked wonders) Gratz Mordof!
Someone then asks me what part of my epic I needed next and hopefully replied, 'Ixiblat'. To my surprise, they (Agony on Vazaelle) said they would kill him again for me!!! I never thought I would get a shot at this guy so soon so I was pumped.
We waited... and waited... and waited... <sigh> Naxot does not spawn at the stated time on the walkthrough (spawned at midnight game time) so peeps were getting impatient and I was losing faith they would stick around any longer to help a 54 cleric only one of them knew 8( They hung in there and Naxot spawned 27 game hours later at 3 am this time. I hand my seashell to Naxot and gate back to our camp while MA was pulling Ixi a long way back to us.
Here he comes, again, so I start the chain heals on MA only this time Ixi decided enough was enough and tripled me for 575 (not sure if it was a triple hit but it happened so fast it might as well been one) and ae nuked me a couple times for another thousand while being stunned. It was less than 2 seconds when all this happened so I dropped fast along with our 60 shammy ((( Thank Tunare for binding myself at the camp only to get smoked again upon reloading (apparently Ixi has a flawless memory lol ) Oh well, this time when I reloaded he was dead, along with half of us this go around due to myself(2nd of two clerics present), chanty and oracle dropping. I looted my scepter of Ixiblat Fer and was very thankful, and am to this day, to the folks of Agony who helped make my day!!!

P.S For those who have been following my epic walkthrough (all 2 of you that I'm aware of <smile> ) I have a doozy upcoming on my first encounter with the Overking lol

Thier reasons for helping you might not be as angle like as you think. Besides dropping your epic piece, that mob also drops a few things that would motivate people to stick around, even for hours, to kill. I'm sure one of those guys would have loved a Cloak of Flames for thier twink, not to mention all the rare spells. But you got your epic part done and in this case all the other stuff, you really didn't need.

Like wise, you rogues out there might wanna think why an Uber guild is letting you join thier general raid in Kithicor. Is it to help you get your epic? Or is it so they will have more chances of getting a Quil for thier rogue to get his epic? Sure, you'll get the pouch, but you'll have zero chances on the quil, while thier guild rogue will get his far chance, plus yours and any other rogue that thinks they are being "helped" and even if they get more quil's than they currently need to epic one of thier own, I bet they just bank the other quils to MQ it another time. If you can, do your own raid and be sure to be on the kill group. If not, I guess you can always save up your plats and buy a KK robe or spend eternity getting one. Ya, I'm cynical, but I'm also sleepy :P
RE: My continuing epic adventures...

Sounds like you are a me, myself and I whinner. The best thing about being allowed to go with a uber guild to do their epic, is to learn the mobs tactics prior to you getting a shot. Being invited to come with others for a kill is a honor, and if you think they are using you as cannon fodder, then consider this. They are taking the chance that you can mess the order of the attack also and get their peeps killed. So if yu feel they are using you, then don't go, and keep your whinning to yourself, this area in Allakhazams is for peps to share success and failures to help others with their quest.

OK, so like so what if a guild does stick around to help another class get his epic because it gives them another shot at other drops? It is benefiting both of you.

The person gets the help of an already organized raid, the help of others to get his epic piece that he may not get because he belongs to a small family like guild and in return, the people helping him gets rewarded with possible drops.

It's called helping each other. They get rewarded for helping someone else out and the person gets their epic piece. A win win situation to me.

Did him with 15 people last time.

60 shaman, 4 warriors (highest myself, 60), 4 clerics level 52 to 60. A 60 wizard. Ranger puller, couple enchanters and a rogue I think it was.

Cleric spawned him and gated to the skyfire/bw zoneline. Ranger pulled him (/snore... long pull). When he came in, I tagged him with melee soon as he got inrange and ran to his other side to face his back to everyone else (AOE only hits those in front, and 200 damage per AOE can add up over time to other people who shouldn't need heals in the first place). I then used defensive and solo'd for about 8 seconds while being healed. Clerics used DL to heal at start since he does hit fast and hard -- and you don't want to pingpong him, then switched to CH once ready. Called melee in, then after about 15-20 seconds of fight, had Tash from enchanter, Malo from shaman. 5-10 secs later, shaman can try to slow. Our shaman reported a few resists, but I'm sure if you added Malosini after the Malo/Tash combo that you probably wouldn't see resist. After he's slowed, he's total gimp and a single cleric can handle all the heals easily. 0 deaths there.

None of us had 'uber' gear, either. My AC is only around 1140 unbuffed as a 60 warrior, and I have pre-epic quality weapons.

Ixiblat really isn't that hard. If you want to do him easily with numbers like this make sure you have a 60 shaman with Malo. He can be done with the same numbers, but it's a lot harder without the slow. Clerics will probably be OOM or very close by the end of the fight without a slow, where as with slow 1 cleric can handle the heals on the warrior once he's slowed.
Took him down of 1st try.

Tonight we killed him twice. And we did it the first time as well. Strange thing was, when the cleric handed in the item,2 Ixiblat spawned in the same spot. So we divided and conqured. We had one ranger take one to us the other ran off and sacrificed himself. We got the Circlet of Fire, mantle of fire and the epic pieces. We also did it with 5groups. MS was a 60paladin followed up another 60paladin.

It does exist, we took out Ixiblat the other night twice, the first one dropped it.

So the item does actually drop, just gotta be lucky I guess.

PS - we failed the first time too, he drains the main tank awfully damn quick. He didn't get slowed the first time and he shredded a 59 warrior. Next 2 tries I think we only lost the chanter tashing - instant aggro.

Took this guy on for our guild leader's epic. Went in there with 6 full groups of mid-40's to mid-50's. First attempt resulted in a total raid wipeout, except for a couple that zoned to Skyfire at the last second. Problem was that our CHeal chain never got established on MA. Once he went down, domino effect. Second time was a differnet story. Got CHeals timed right, only death was the ranger who pulled him. One thing I noticed and would recommend is that his AE fire attack does not hit you if you are behind him. So, unless you are MA stay behind him and you won't take one bit of damage, as long as you don't get aggro.

Also, only thing he dropped was the Wizard/Mage only Circlet of Fire, and of course the cleric epic item.

does everyone fail on their first try with this guy or what? my guild gathered with 5 groups of high 40's - mid 50s+ we pulled him and main tank died before the 10 seconds of taunt time then it went on a rampage and killed anything in its path it killed me a 48 warrior in 1 aoe rain spell 200 a hit 3 times + 7 normal attacks about 450 a hit +/- then we regrouped and people left so we had to get more this time we only had 4 groups but we also found a lvl 60 warrior that helped alot he was dead in about 45 sec... so if your going to fight this guy for the first time make sure main tank stays alive or atleast have some sort of back up plan

I was so excited today to be invited to my first ever guild raid. I just reached level 40, and the guild leader gave the call for all 40+ to come join the fight against little ol' Ixi.

Well, it was early in the afternoon on a Saturday so only about 18 people were around, but we tried it anyway.

Got Ixi down to about 25% hp before the third line of "tanks" had to take him on.

Yeah, me in the third line. All mana gone and LoH gone from healing duties on the 2'nd tier tanks.

I hit Ixi (hard to tell through the spam), maybe 2 or 3 times before he turned his attention to *me*.

The wind sears your fesh, You have been hit for 200 damage.
You bash Ixiblat the ridiculously hard hitter for 1 damage.
The wind sears your fesh, You have been hit for 200 damage.
You slash Ixiblat the ridiculously hard hitter for 30 damage.
Ixiblat the ridiculously hard hitter hits YOU for 575 damage.
Ixiblat the ridiculously hard hitter hits YOU for 575 damage.
You are stunned.
Ixiblat the ridiculously hard hitter hits YOU for 575 damage!
You have been slain by Ixiblat the Verant sucks!
LOADING, please wait...

Never in the 8 months that I've been playing EQ have I been hit so hard that my body was still flying through the air as I died while the loading screen came up. I got to watch my corpse moving rapidly backwards to entertain me as I was being sent to my bind point.

Thank goodness we had a level 60 cleric to rez me afterwards. My corpse was near a tree. I hope my 0.00000042% damage aginst him helped in some small way. I think my heals helped keep a tank alive an extra 7 seconds.

They wanted to "try again". Sick bastards.

Moral of the story is, unless you are 50+, don't go to spur-of-the-moment guild events involving this guy.

Pally instead of War?
# Jan 27 2002 at 9:42 PM Rating: Default
We took him down the other night and I noticed both times (failed once) that the warrior was the main tank for the 15-20 seconds. I was wondering if a high lvl pally could do the tanking for the first 15 seconds? I mean it is possible with Divine Aura, making the pally take NO damage whatsoever, but cannot be casted on either. He may not have enough HP but is it possible for a pally with Divine Aura instead of a Warrior with Defensive? Thanks

I dont know if Divine Aura works different for Pallys but for Clerics we cant cast or melee with it on. The only thing it would do for a Pally is keep the aggro on him if no one else attacked during the spell duration.

Most likely yes. As a Cleric I notice I lose aggro almost everytime I use DA. (Unless I'm the only one that even has any aggro heh)

I see no reason why this would be any different for Paladins, so DA won't work if you plan on being a Paladin MT. Besides, without attacks and procs, (can't attack while DA'd), it'd be hard to hold aggro anyway.

We took him out three times today. Five groups, including a 60 ranger, a 60 chanter, a 57 rogue, a 56 warrior, a 56 pally, and everyone else 55 and below.

The first time, we had a few deaths and it was a close fight, because we didn't get the tactics right. The second time, three deaths, and the third time no deaths.

We had everyone but the warrior hide behind the rocks at the Skyfire zone line, the warrior fought him with defensive disc in front of the rocks, with a good cheal chain it wasn't that bad. Never dropped the cloak, though. :(

We killed Ixiblat 6 times today, and he never dropped a cloak. Deepwater's respawn time was 23 EQ hours, and we went through 7 spawns. Unfortuntely, an tatterback ape killed Deepwater before we had a chance to turn in one of the shells, so we spent an extra 72 minutes twiddling our thumbs... I pulled Ixiblat to Skyfire zoneline each time and never got any adds. Good luck!

We can no longer do turn in right after another. Naxot Deepwater despawns after turn in and respawns about 1 and a half hour (RL) later. She is supposed to spawn at 6pm but for my turn in she spawned at 1pm /shrug. I would suggest as soon as first cleric is done, send next to Naxot's spot to wait. Naxot spawns at loc n3391, n2125 exactly. There are wandering mobs around the area and it is a good idea to have the cleric bring along a melee to keep them company *wink*. Of course the melee would have to be nonvital to the encounter as they would have to run all the way back to the fight. Clerics turning in, MUST bind within casting distance of the encounter and be ready to start healing as soon as they gate back.

Ixiblat spawns Immediately after turn in-not 4 mins.
I never saw his fire AE, maybe he never had a chance tho *grin*

Cheal rotation we had set to 25 or 20 pause and I think this was rather quick, we couldve gone to 45 or 50 after slow. The hardest part was at the begining of the fight before he was slowed. It may help if druids could throw some heals on the MA right at the beginging til Cheals get in motion.

Fighting at the spawn loc was a great idea. That loc is n2110, p1340. We met at Skyfire zone and ran to this loc, plowing along the way. Most mobs in the zone have a low seek radius. I think we could have saved some time by just outrunning any aggro and heading straight to camp.
Just somethings I noticed when we killed him on April 27, 03.
Just killed him.

We had a full turn out from the guild of 45 and over people. Had about 6 clerics chain healing with CH on main tank (main tank was a warrior with epic weapon). Enchanters tashed and shaman and necros slowed him with Malo and Darkness. Pets where sent in and was ready to chain cast pets. But this thing went down and we had only lost 7 people in total out of about 20 people there.
He dropped the shawl for us and a iksar monk from our guild won the role.

As of a patch a while ago, Naxot Deepwater despawns when you hand in the note. Her respawn is 2 hours. Worked this out when we tried to do two clerics in one raid, then Naxot despawned on us. A quick raid on Chardok and back to BW and we were good to go.

Incidentally, the three times I've seen him down he dropped the sceptre (of course) and that ghetto circlet. Never anything else... kinda odd.

Is this true? Can anyone else confirm that the NPC despawns or was it killed by Ix Fer? Not that I'm doubting you... But Ix Fer is next up on my epic list and the guild wants to know.
