The spoon is for the enchanter epic quest.

Anyone who buys it is stupid.

Most enchanters can get some friends to help take him down.

Hmm maybe this is why the Tick yells "SPOON" as he goes into battle.

the trick to killing him is to snare him then fear and lay on the dots to slow down his regen then nuke him to death with meleers beating on him just keep him feared and the dots stacked and he goes down pretty easy as I have been in on killing him 3 times and Ice Comet has hit full everytime so his resistances are real low.

We tried this guy tonight, I know I dotted him for about 1.5k and his hp bar didn't even move, add in about 1.2k for dd's and still nothing, pet, other's dotting for 4k..this is one mean bastiche. In the end we didn't even do any real dmg to him except fear him a lot. In that I guess we take a small victory. YAY home team!
aaaahhhhh!

My Experiences

Took this guy last night with the help of my Guild. Some notes:
1. MR - his MR sucks big-time. We had level 42 SKs dropping Fear on him, 42 Druids snaring, I didn't get a single resisted spell for the whole fight (I'm 51 Enc).
2. DoTs - while this is not the way to kill him, they certainly can't harm, we tried both Fear/DoT/melee and Fear/Nuke/melee and nuking won hands down. DoTs didn't even seem to touch him.
3. Melee damage - I can confirm he hits for 220 max.
4. Level - 51 (conned even to me)
5. Hitpoints - unknown but I'd guess around around 10-15k, he keeled over pretty fast with 1 Wiz, 2 Dru, 1 Enc and 1 Clr(!) (all 50+) chain-nuking.
6. Summoning - yeah, he summons all right :)
7. Loot - a spoon, for the Enchanter Epic Quest. Also drops Fine Steel and Lambent Stones. The spoon is tradeable (i.e. not NODROP), so I guess it actually has some value to groups without an Enchanter.

The strategy we used involved snaring, fearing, then nuking with several melees and pets beating on him from behind. He went down in about 30 seconds.

Here's my experience with this brute. I am a 46 wizzie now. I am passing through Oasis looking for a SG to mug when I see this guy stomping on newbies by the dozen(exageration but sounds good) down close to the dock. Being the nice guy that I am, I tried to snare him to give them a better chance to get away. RESISTED!!!...well now it's Jbooties don't fail me now as he comes after me and i run like the girlie man I am for the zone. I took a lot of falling damage, but was otherwise unhurt. I am feeling good about myself then some lil 'troll' (don't mean to offend those of the trill race) starts sending me tels cussing me for training him on them at the docks. I think to myself "Sheesh you just can't do anything right in this game." I basically tried to explain what happened and if he had a problem with it to go bug a GM and leave me alone.

Ok, here is the story, im kiting stuff in BW(lvl 44 druid) when i hear someone in my guild say that there is a giant in oasis hitting for 220 hp. So of course i think im a druid i can kite him till he is dead...as long as i can cast on him, which would normally be true. If u can cast on a mob, and that mob is melee only, u can kill it eventually. So i go and i also pick up my lvl 52 necro friend. First try on snaring him was resisted, but he does not catch up to a 44 sow, he runs slow enough that i could pull ahead and snare. Then the fun began, before my necro friend came i started nuking him, i hit for 302 dam with my fire based nuke that is full damage. I could see his life come down slightly. Based upon how much it came down i would say he has anywhere from 10k-20 khp, but of course that is not accurate, just a guess. Immediately after i nuked him, his life went right back up. My necro friend came and we both started going at him, when we were both oom, we had done close to 12khp i think. His life had not moved. He was very easy to keep feared though. So we ran, and he did not summon us...very fun to try though. I dont see how anything less than an uber-guild could take this guy on.

You can do it with 3 groups of reasonably high level people (above 50th). He is also the anti-kite. He has an evil regen that well eat up your dots. You can cast dots and run circles around him all day and you well not even faze him. Although you may make him dizzy. He is used for the enchanter epic quest as you can see. So if you don't have an enchanter doing the quest with you there is no point killing him.

sorry, this is probably kinda confusing, i was in a hurry..
hehe I tried to Solo him =P
# Oct 12 2000 at 3:53 AM Rating: Default
Hi all, I rooted him + drifting death + winged death + breath of ro.... then I repeated the cycle. However I forgot that someone told me he regen's for 250hp a tick (that might be true or not, seemed like it though). Well anyways when I went close enough to see how "dead" he was turns out he still had full hp, hit me for 180, while people were yelling "Who aggro'd Cazel", so I zoned into s ro and let Cazel go about his own buisness.
RE: hehe I tried to Solo him =P
# Apr 02 2001 at 2:06 AM Rating: Decent
It's true, no one can solo Cazel. Not sure if it's 250/tick, but he regens a lot and fast. He's easy with 2 full groups including a high level necro for dots and fears and a few rouges.

I'm level 53 necro...thought he was a regular sand giant which I kill with my eyes closed...and proceded to get killed faster than you can say Eat My ***** Don't take him on alone!
He Died quick
# Oct 02 2000 at 5:20 PM Rating: Default
I don't know if it is relevant but he spawned on CT yesterday and proceded to start wiping out players. groups formed with only about 6 lvl 50+ players, numerous lvl 40 and 30s. Someone feared him and he did not regenerate. enough damage was done between the gypsies and the fishinf village to kill him.

How to kill
# Sep 26 2000 at 9:06 PM Rating: Excellent
Okay we just killed this guy on Quellious and to say this guy is tough is an understatement. He killed alot of people before we finally got organized and called for more people from Norraths Pride, At Death's Door and various high lvls. It took over 15 minutes to kill him and even the GMs showed up to watch.

A couple of notes that we did not know at the time but we do now.
- He regenerates almost to full everytime you fear him (wish we knew that before hand).
- People said fire based spells also healed him but I am not sure. I was the healer so I did not have time to notice.
- He hits hard and fast, 220 is what he hits for sure.
- He summons you only when you really tick him off damage wise. I aggroed him and ran around with him chasing me but he did not summon me. As soon as the druid in the group casted a DOT on him, he was then summoned a lot. So you have to inflict damage before he uses that power.
- He is fast, faster than most sows and from the other post Jboots for sure won't out run him. When ensared he moves at a regular creature's speed so don't think you can kite him easily.
- He still heals pretty fast and has a godly amount of hit points.

About the spoon being for a mage quest, one could only think so because it fits with most of their quest items, ie: broom, torch, stein, shovel (which represent air, fire etc.) So what would a spoon represent? It not "no drop" but is a lore item.

I hope this helps people and remember this should be organized attack on him.

Good Luck All,

Dordaek, you seemed credible there so its odd that you would post that he outruns sow and Jboots. He in fact does not but everything else that you said is accurate.
RE: How to kill
# Oct 01 2000 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Facts i can confirm:
- He conned even to our level 51 ranger
- He regenerates at a horribly fast rate
- He hits for over 200 damage
- He can summon you
- His MR seems to be low, because he resisted only 1 out of my 6 DD's (being level 47 ENC), also other caster reported similar successes
- He drops a spoon, presumably for one of the epic quests

We killed him last night with about 25-30 people, about 10 being 50+. His fast regeneration rate forbade a slow wear-down tactic, so we used fear-kiting, whacked on his back and hosed the heck out of him. Took less then two minutes to bring him down.

Have fun hunting him down :)

Since i had not been to this page prior to seeing him, i tried to solo as a lvl 50 necro. I failed, but lived. My experience:

Pulled with cascading dark, fear, pet w/ augment death and spirit armor. All took 1st try and fear ran full duration.

Cast dots: Bond of death - took
venom of snake - took
scourge - took
asystole - resisted

Fear wore off, pet could not taunt, he resisted the next 2 fears.

Darkness wears off, he pounds me for double 220, archshielding up saves me, get off a harmshied and run for zone. pet is still alive and trying to taunt. I out ran him with DMF and Jboots. He never summoned me.

Ps he came by once and smacked me for 220 damage died
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 04 2001 at 3:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hey wow, another dumb liar.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 05 2000 at 1:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Isn't it amazing how numerous 50+'s can take 15 minutes yet 4 people can take him down in two times and...I won';t get into it...that's an obvious lie trying to get an ego boost
RE: i watched himtaken down
# Oct 19 2000 at 12:45 AM Rating: Default
i think is only a question of tactic ... some guilds need 100+ people to kill trakanon and othe rmake it with 30 ... same here i think the combo is known as walking-death... because of the abilities of the classes combined there... if the play long enough togehter these 4 could take down some much bigger.. ;)
RE: i watched himtaken down
# Oct 20 2000 at 8:54 PM Rating: Default
True in mst cases, but, this thing has a pretty nasty HP regen, when the wiz and druid is OOM, sure the bard give them some mana back, but, he will regen faster then the bard and the necs pet can hit him
Killed Friday
# Sep 25 2000 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
Cazel is level 51 (conned yellow to me at 50, but once help arrived, they verified he was 51.)

He double hits for 220 damage.

He won't outrun jboots.

He CAN, however, summon you and will announce to the entire zone "You will not evade me <player>!" The beatings begin on your sorry hide immediately after that.

If he is feared, he WILL regenerate at an ungodly rate, and cannot be harmed. If you are going to kill him, you will have to slug it out the old fashioned way.

His magic resistance isn't all that high. As a level 50 necro, he would resist about 1 in 5 spells.

It took 3 attempts to kill him (including me being the first attempt when I tried to attack and fear kite him) and took about 30+ players, most were 50+.

He dropped a spoon...lore item. Probably part of one of the new class epic quests.

Bring lots of friends, that's all I have to say. I hear an only spawns once every real time day.

He can be taken out with only one group of low 50's. We Tashed him, ensnared him, feared him, doted him and then beat him to death as he ran.

We had an enchanter, ranger, druid, cleric, mage and shadow knight.
