She rescued me
# Mar 27 2001 at 8:46 PM Rating: Default
The first time I saw her she was being attacked by some orcs - being a wood elf ranger, I ran over and attacked them, although she didn't need the help as I only got one shot in before she whiped the rest of them out.

Later that night I was being jumped by an entire camp and she ran in and saved me from them.

She's always conned amiable to me although she's never said a word to me one way or another.

The first time I saw this thing was when I was on my way to Mistmoore. I was in the low 20s and so didn't attack it (besides, it was indifferent to me), but wondered why the heck it was so pained. Recenetly, ten levels later, my friend and I returned to Mistmoore and saw this thing immediately upon zoning into Lesser Faydark. My point? Hey, if I can accidentally find it so easily, it shouldn't be tough for a druid to locate it.
I hate this thing

goto gfay and kill every orc you see. It will bring up your faction with the ones she has and brign down your faction with the indigo brothers.
Don't Kill

Please don't kill it, druids need it for their quest.

As a high level guildy told me, everything in this game that is breathing and moving of its own accord needs to die from time to time. Im not saying to run up and kill it when a druid is talking with it, but hey...all's fair in love and EQ...hmm or war...well you get the idea

Druid Quest

This is an NPC for the druid uber quest. I dot remember what the key words were but i believe if you ask "what corruption" she will respond.

She asks you to find the 3 corruptions within faydwer and bring them to her. you need to collect the drops from the corrupted brownie in lfay, the corrupted/tainted cyclops in oot, the corrupted/tainted seahorse in kedge keep. one you brin back these and gve them to her you recive the cleansed spirit of faydwer.
Killed her last night

full group lvl 48 to 51 took her down very easy, was blue to us. She droped a horn that bards can use, not sure how good it is.

You are dumme as a rock, the one you killed was not the pained Unicorn was the other unicorn Equestriele.
The pained Unicorn would be red to your group because is lvl 60.
I coned with my 53 warrior and it was red.

WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON KILLING QUEST NPCs? Don't you know that some druid may need to talk to her? The spawn on the pained unicorn is VERY rare. At least so a shout out to see if anyone needs to talk to her before killing her.

Sigh, I don't know about you, but I don't study every epic quest to know what the quest NPCs are. For one thing, if I'm walking around somewhere with my uber friends and we see a blue mob, you better believe we're gonna kill it if we don't know what it is! Yes, this one's lvl 60 so we'd probably leave it alone, but not all quest NPCs are lvl 60. Also, if you manage to take down Brother Qwinn in SK or Zephyl in RM they could drop the robe of the lost circle, saving a lot of time for a monk.

Quest NPC's are monsters too, why not kill it .. Dark Elves are Usually cruel .. so i say nuke it till it screams

# Apr 07 2001 at 10:09 AM Rating: Decent
It seems pretty common... almost every time i run through Lesser Faydark, I see this thing right next to the edge of the zone between Steamfont and Greater Faydark. Nuke it till it screams, huh? /sick mind ;P

I pass through Lfay regularly and never fail to pick the pained unicorn up on tracking. Now, if it's one of those one week spawns, I can understand why you wouldn't want it killed...
RE: Killed her last night
# Feb 22 2001 at 7:51 AM Rating: Default
Actually I have seen this thing on tracking EVERY single time i've gone through this zone. It's not rare now at all, I say kill away if you like... it seems be a permanent critter in LF.

Duhh if it's lvl 60 number one don't try to nuck it you'll die and dark elf all over that fun zone by the way a druid like me would rather fight you then have you fight it and you know that a unicorn like that can save a newbi

owww yeah and if it is lvl 60 no one could kill it with out telling every one on the game.... so that's why you alwas see it

"i fight for the forest and it's shadows"
Just now found it.

As a 36th level ranger, it conned red and amiable to me. I hailed it, and this is what it said, or emoted, rather.

"A pained unicorn snorts and stamps at the ground. An unusual angry glimmer enters the eyes of what normally should be one of Tunare's most peaceful creatures. Its coat seems slickened and filthy in places."

That's all I could get it to say, or do. I tried healing it, giving it food and water, even Lulling it. My guess is that it's for the Ranger Particle weapon quest, and you most likely need to give it an item from another part of the same quest. I'll keep investigating. . .

Shes a pain

She hits for like 170+, and triple attacks. Very quickly beat the crap outta me (52 mage) and my pet, only got it to like 3/4 health. She was KOS to me also, being a dark elf mage, and has a rather large aggro radius.
Pained Unicorn
# Oct 29 2000 at 11:30 AM Rating: Excellent
She is usually stuck paceing back and forth at the spot mentioned until someone hails her then she stops paceing. But is still stuck.

Hailed her in my regular erudite form. /con apprehensive and said something like "I didn't know slime could talk. Now leave before I lose my patience with you."

Hailed her as illusion: wolf. /con indifferent. Didn't say anything but a short description followed. "pained unicorn scratches and stamps on the ground. (something about angry look in her eyes, not something you would expect from tunares most peaceful creature)"

Hailed her as illusion: wolf and cast collaboration. /con amiable. Said nothing and no description.

Red /con to a 51st. Almost crapped my draws when I heard that first phrase in my regular, non-illusioned form. Hehe.

To the poster the "easily defeated her". How many hp approx? Special attacks? Casting ability? Summoning? Any drops?

Gotta love anonymous posters that make fantastic claims but aren't willing to be recognized for their acheivements. How modest of you. ;P
Amiable
# Oct 26 2000 at 4:56 PM Rating: Default
I saw this when I was in wolf form. It was red, yes (I was 24) but also amiable to me. I tried to hail it (duh? Did I expect a horse to answer?) and even heal it. No effect. I think you have to give it something. Or perhaps it is just a rare spawn when somebody/something kills Equistrielle?

umm you're wrong sir.

my 55th barbarian shaman (tribunal) aggro's it almost everytime i zone in this brownie infested zone. his aggro radius is HUGE if your kos too.

not everyone is kos, but it seems certain races/dietys/classes may be. all the above factions listen for this monster i have at apprehesive, as i have checked in kelethin myself.
Sigh

Quest NPC?
# Sep 21 2000 at 11:31 PM Rating: Good
When we encountered the unicorn, it responded to hails, but did not engage in conversation unless it was to insult certain people who hailed it. It conned yellow to our lvl 59 druid and was amiable to a druid and a ranger.

Upon killing it, the following factions all went down:

Faydark Champions, Soldiers of Tunare, and King Thex (I believe this is correct). The Unicorn had no loot. It was 100% magic resistant and had incredible regenerative power. We finally took it down thru pure melee/healer combos. It hit for only 177 so it didn't have typical 60th level power.

Since it offered no "hot spot" dialogue, it may be part of a druid or ranger quest that requires giving him an item to get a hot-spot responce.

i'm a druid and hailed it with no response. A friend who's a ranger hailed it and it talked to him about why it was pained. don't remember what it said. but give it a shot...
