the ph you kill in the north for shaman lenrel has a 36~ second respawn timer. so set a timer for 36 seconds after you kill the ph or lenrel (not phido, that's separate) and whatever pops up is the ph

I spent several hours as a heroic level 85 Ranger on Miragul alone in South Karana trying to figure out how this spawn works. After finding the correct PH I saw it 19 out of 70 spawns.

What I learned:
1. High Shaman Phido spawns immediately upon the death of Shaman Lenrel, so finding Shaman Lenrel is the real goal here.
2. Shaman Lenrel can spawn while High Shaman Phido is up, but killing it will never spawn a 2nd High Shaman Phido. There can only ever be 1 High Shaman Phido up at any time.
3. The PH spawns anywhere north of the Centaur village, and anywhere between the west wall of the zone and east wall of the zone.
4. At any given time there is only 1 mob that is the actual PH for Shaman Lenrel, but it is impossible to tell which mob is the PH under normal circumstances because it can spawn and roam anywhere in the area described above, and can spawn as just about any type of mob.

The actual PH might be up as "a shadow wolf" and you could spend now until the end of time killing every elephant, aviak, and centaur in the area and will never see Shaman Lenrel spawn because you didn't kill the *ONE* mob that is the actual PH.

I've seen the PH spawn as any type of elephant except "an adult elephant" ("an elephant", "an elephant calf", "a bull elephant"), any type of aviak ("aviak avocet", "aviak darter", "aviak egret", "aviak harrier"), any type of centuar ("centaur archer", "centaur charger", "centaur foal", "centaur sheltie"), "a lioness" (never saw the PH spawn as "a lion"), "a shadow wolf" (but never saw it spawn as "a mist wolf"), "a cyclops", "a treant", "an escaped Splitpaw gnoll".

The only type of mob I have not seen as a PH is "a lion", "a mist wolf", "an adult elephant", and "an undead cyclops" but that doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be one of those, I just never saw it spawn as one of those.

So the best you can do to get Shaman Lenrel to spawn is just kill roaming mob you see from the west wall to the east wall, south of the river, and north of the centaur village. You might be able to skip lions, adult elephants, and mist wolves.

2. High Shaman Phido cycle:
Location: South Karana; kill random mobs in the north end of the zone that roam from east to west and vice versa. They do pass the skeleton pile area south of the bridge. Some of them seem to be placeholders for escaped Splitpaw gnolls but also Ghanex Drah could be one or is the PH.

High Shaman Phido appears to be tied to - but not directly a part of - the cycle mentioned by iventheassassin.

Killing either: any, some, or a certain number of the mobs on the cycle seems to spawn Phido somewhere on the western side of the map. The 'ph' will also respawn and you can continue spawning them at the same rate as before (30ish seconds, I believe) if you need more than one.

The mobs on this cycle seem to spawn mostly in between the undead and centaur village, act exactly as stated in iventheassassin's post (walk mostly east or west), and can be a fairly wide variety of types and levels. You know you have the right cycle when you get Shaman Lenrel.

Confirming that Phido can spawn instantly after killing Shaman Lenrel. Lenrel spawned in the NE, walking towards the skeleton camp, and after killing him, Phido spawned to the west, walking south along the cliffside wall.

my experience with my level 70 druid on behalf of my level 52 monk. as a druid, my tracking skill range is much less broad than a ranger's.

after running around the zone fruitlessly doing various things, some as described in other posts, and having heard that phido and grisok are on spawn cycles similar to that of quillmane.

i range around the entire zone looking for any of the shamans, lenrel, ren rex, grisok or phido without killing anything. didn't see any of them.

i killed an escaped splitpaw gnoll in the north west portion of the zone, speculating that it might be in the phido spawn cycle. because my tracking range is limited, i knew i could easily miss a new spawn popping 78 seconds after the kill. so i began a run around the zone starting at the bridge and moving west. lenrel showed in my tracking window towards the north central part of the zone almost immediately. killed lenrel, given that most folks report phido running north/south along the western edge of the zone, i began to run that route. found phido almost as soon as i got within tracking range of the west edge.

one down, one to go.

My monk spent three levels hunting SK for High Shaman Phido for the headband quest. It got to where I was leveling my ranger there too hoping he would appear on track. After reading the posts here, I decided to try some of the suggestions. Here is what happened for me.

I killed elephants and lions in the north part and any escaped splitpaws. Lenrel finally spawned in the NE corner running west. I killed him (was grey to my 33rd level ranger) and then made a beeline for the area around Brother Drash and the gnoll guards. A storm here caused me to lose connection. By the time I was reconnected, High Shaman Phido was running North along the West wall. He was moving fast, but I had SOW up. He was green to a 33rd level ranger. Got the skull for my monk. Now I need to find another quest to keep two characters entertained.

Phido is no longer on the same cycle as Grisok.
Was running north, and spotted Shaman Lenrel. Killed him, and High Shaman Phido spawned almost immediately. Tracked him down (south of paw), killed him, got the skull.

7am irl, and No one's in zone, figured good time to use tracking to nail PHs.
Started by killing elephants, NW area of zone; also tracked any escaped gnolls + killed them as well.
Shaman Renrel popped, just East of the Undead camp near NK zone. Killed him & ran south to look for High Shaman.
Found Shaman Ren'Rex popped on track, East of Splitpaw. Killed him + waited.
High Shaman Grisok popped on track, a bit East of Aviak tree. Killed him. Waited.
Finally High Shaman Phido popped, just a bit NW of Aviak tree.

- Firmly believe that similar to the Hunter/Forager cycle in Trak's Teeth, the shaman are linked spawns, and nailing one in the cycle can set off spawn for the next one.

Did the same thing tonight. Killed elephants and escaped gnolls in the North. Lenrel spawned in the North East. Killed him and ran to paw. Just a bit South of paw there was Phido.

Thanks a ton for this.

I read a post about killing the elephants in the NW area and that supposedly got Shaman Lenrel to spawn. I decided to try it; low and behold Shaman Lenrel spawn in the NW a bit after killing some of the elephants. A bit after Lenrel went down Phido spawned down by splitpaw. WOOT thats 2 down and Grisok to go =(.

What worked for Us
# Feb 12 2006 at 12:55 PM Rating: Decent
My friend and I (Both Monks along with my 65 Druid for tracking) camped SK for 5 days and didn't see Phido once. Killed the undead cyclops everytime he was up (12+kills) and still no Phido pop. Ren Rex spawned Grisok every time. After getting frustrated and about to leave, we had been killing adult and bull elephants in the north end of the zone when.poof! Lenrel popped. Killed him and Phido spawned immediately after. So we came back here and read all the posts in here and elsewhere regarding PH's and spawns, including the one for Quillmane.
Long story short is this: I went back with Druid and started killing and checking re-spawns on the 78 sec timer in the northend of the zone, center area, wher Lenrel popped last time. Got Mroon to pop, and while checking other cycles, started killing adult, calf, and bull elephants again and after 6-7 kills, Lenrel popped in the same area he did when last we killed him, northern part of zone. Killed him and Phido popped immediatley again in the same area we killed him last time, NW corner of the zone. Elephants seemd to be on a 78 sec timer with Lenrel. Lenrel popped both times for us in the middle of #1 & #2 on the EQ Atlas Map. Phido popped both time for us in the area of 3000,2000, NW corner of the same map. I didn't go back and test it again tho out of relief this camp was done. I hope this helps and if I test it, i'll post the results.

He dropped skull for us both times. Undead cyclops drop must be pretty rare, because we never saw him drop it.

I'd like to confirm this method (but diff Phido spawn area).

After months of camping on and off, trying all of the tips posted on these pages, I tried Rhoderas's method and today it finally worked! I had my ranger killing all of the elephants and escaped Splitpaw gnolls I could find. Lenrel spawned east of the skellie camp heading towards me and I killed him. Immediately, as I saw that there seemed to be a large group in the zone, I ooc'd that I was looking for Phido, and one of their trackers caught him in the SW corner of the zone (by the aviak nest), heading north over the hills on the west side. My ranger (maxed tracking) still can only track about two-thirds to three quarters of the zone from the spot where Lenrel spawned, so I wouldn't have seen him for quite a while if the group in the south hadn't spoken up -- I may have even missed him by running around focusing on more elephants.

Rhoderas had Phido spawn in the NW corner, but I got him from the SW corner -- So if you don't get the spawn on the northside, start moving down to the SW corner following the hills on the west side, and you just may pick him up on track and run right into him .

Here's hoping it works for you too. =) Thanks Rhoderas!

Im a lvl 20 Ranger I was in SK helping a fellow guild member doing his monk epic. While looking for Phidos PH we ran in in to Shaman Ren'Rex so we killed him. That spawned High Shaman Grisok, after we killed him Ren'Rex spawned again after we killed him the second time High Shaman Phido spawned. I dont know if he is the PH for both High Shamans but it worked for us
PH

The PH is Shaman Lenrel and the PH of Shaman Lenrel is a Undead Cyclopse. Once I killed the Undead Cyclopse the Shaman Lenrel popped right after I looted it then High Shaman Phido popped right after i looted Shaman Lenrel. FYI a Undead Cyclopse is also PH for Shaman Ren'Rex which is PH for High Shaman Grisok.
Still dont know LOC though.

Killed his PH today (after ages trying to find him). went straight to NW corner of zone and proceeded up and down the NW wall area, as per posts. nothing.

Saw a 54 druid in zone, asked him to check track, turns out Phido was in SE corner of zone, heading west fast. (this was after only about 5 mins from killing Lenrel)

Possible that he spawns in SE corner of zone, then heads West past aviak town to West wall, where he patrols up and down?

So I had someone help me tracking for a long time, when a great monk helped me out with this. First of all, kill all the escaped splitpaws the tracker can find. After killing 2 or 3, Shaman Lenrel popped. Right after killing Lenrel, Phido popped, and dropped the skull. Not sure how much fun this would be without a tracker.

for me Ren'Rex has spawned Grisok every time, i think Lenrel is the PH for Phido, unless I'm missing something. Also, Phido seems to ALWAYS spawn on the west wall, while Grisok spawns on the south between aviaks and hermit.

I just wanna clear this up there are mixed facts here.

1. Does he go north to south or south to north along the west wall?

2. His ph is High Shaman Ren'Rex, where does Ren'Rex spawn/wander? And whats his spawn time?

3. Approximately how long after you kill Ren'Rex does Phido spawn or is it random?

4. What are the stats on Runed Totem Staff? LOL

Thanks

I went to kill both these high shamans. I started killed escaped splitpaws about 6 or so and Shaman Lendrel popped. I killed him and then another escaped splitpaw and Phido popped. Not 100% sure lendrel was the PH but I am fairly certain. Still waiting on the the other
They were both spawned in the nw section of the zone. west of brother drash

this is a wee off-topic, but don't use brother drash as point-of-reference..he is a random spawn in different zones. Have seen him in different spots in NK, SK, and Lake rathetear

Also, just spent an hour killing random clowns in the SK graveyard...killed an undead cyclpos, then lendrel popped, killed him and Ghanex popped...went for a walk past the hut and saw Grisok. Currently running along west wall S->N and found him running north along loc ---, 2388 in the NW corner of zone.
