I camped him in a group and ended up losing 5 yellows on all my CR due to the amount of mobs that roam this area. Be careful.

Nice to see the placeholder info up in here, it will help me a bit when I have to tell friends how to get it for themselves if they are too cheap to buy a set like I did.

for all who don't know, Dusty armor is nice stuff to get at the lower levels and As far as I know I will be wearing it well into the 30's most likely on my DEF SK, till I can either find something better, or save enough for something better.

It's got better ac, less wieght and decent stats compared to almost all other comperable breast plates you can get At around the time you will be searching for it (20-30+) My 51 SK friend who is otherwise doing very well armor and equipment wise (is well on his way toward having an innoruks curse for example), actually tellsme my dusty BP is better than his breastplate, and I was lucky to get it.

Now certainly I got mine the easy way... or relatively speaking, I simply saved up some cash and found someone willing to part with it for 250 PP and a few HQ bear pelts. I have seen these breast plates go for anywhere from 800PP to 1k+ on Erolisi Marr. I will never regret buying this armor as it looks cool on an SK in it's simple dark/grey dusty color, and it is VERY functional. Hope this helps someone a tiny bit... and I'm sure something I said will tick someone off, so go ahead and flame me I will never read this thread again most likely.

Heheh Ever notice how when Shadowknights or Necros are involved somehow a flame war erupts? Paladins are better than SK's Rangers are better than Necros whine whine whine, ***** moan... playthe game and stop worrying about if bob over on a server you will never play on has a character who might be able to beat yours six ways till sunday cuz I got news for you... Nobone is untouchable, regardless of class race or whatever. I have seen supposedly good race class combo's with good armor and weapons get beaten by the underdog of the same level enough to know better than to shoot my mouth off... do I like being an SK yes... yes I LOVE it... do I respect other classes... Absolutely... Nothing humbles you like having your little Enchanter girlfriend who is 2 or three levels below you and tiny lookin, charm you in a duel, and sick you on the arena guards in your home city... Remember that... I did... *rubs the boot mark on his forehead with a groan*

This probably will not help you much. But wife (35 druid) & I (37 warrior) have been hunting giants near OT zone off & on for a month (trying to get Forest loops - only 1 so far). Today she tracked & saw Dustback. He was at about 2900 3000 both pos. Killed him ez & got the breastplate. Within minutes he spawned again in same area & got him again. Wife has not tracked a lot there since giants are so easy to find, so all I can tell you for certain is that he has spawned at the loc, but have no idea about place holders (besides we did not kill one) or if he always spawns there. Breastplate is great, only difference from crafted is 5 less extra HP (25 v 20) but weighs 5 1/2 lbs v 10

# Jul 29 2001 at 10:26 PM Rating: Decent
This was given to me by a druid friend who said he picked it up somwhere in kunark (we were in gd at the time killing giants). Ironic thing is, I had just read about it here the day before. This thing is great for small class warriors cause it is the same as crafted bp, except it gives 5 less hp. Better in fact, cause you don't have to go to the middle of MM to kill a werewolf to get it!

Heh My ranger can take a necro any day so before u say anythin try to get above level 10 ok?
RE: Hmmmm
# Sep 11 2001 at 7:44 AM Rating: Decent
BAH! im no necro, but i DID witness a 49 necro pet puttin a hurt on same level monk (meaning pet was considerably lower). and no doubt would do same to u. throw in a few lifetaps before u can get root or snare off (and necro can shadow-step easily during melee to get decent cast times) and he will obliterate all 4 of yer ranger HPs hehe. get above level 20 before u post takin necro "anyday". also consider the fact that necros can be exceptionally cruel and drownu in DoTs to finish you long after they are gone. the DoTs are so fast that i doubt they would die first tho.
RE: Hmmmm
# Feb 06 2002 at 10:51 PM Rating: Decent
DoT'ing classes are fairly easy to beat if you are prepared. I've beat a 56 necro once, so I do have a slight basis for this. Also beaten a number of necros lower than 56.

The key is to setting up your buffs correctly. Leave some spots open at the top. Also, pumice/golem wands are your friends. If you get a DoT that doesn't want to come off, cancel your other buffs and then pumice if needs be.

Rangers can beat a necro pretty easily. Just need to know what yer doing.

Yeah, take it easy there bud, the necro class is a great class, but that doesn't automatically make every other class crap.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 05 2001 at 4:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you notice on the class and race list for the breastplate it says MNK...monk....it's light for a breast plate but would a monk really want something that weighs 5.5 pounds? Why don't they switch monk for ranger? Then I wouldn't whine like a little brat about it. LOL It's a good breastplate...too bad I can't use it. :(

**This is a post I found from a different forum*

****THE TRIGGER CYCLE****

First and foremost, a tracker is absolutely *required*. More trackers placed in the corners will speed it up though.

You can try to get lucky and catch some of the names as they roam by
(I know the general location of the named in the SE corner, but I still miss them 75% of the time).

OK, there are 3 corners that have spawns in them: The Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest.

The Southeast is the beginning of the cycle, and as soon as the named/PH for that corner drops, the named/PH for the southwest will spawn, when that one dies, the named/PH for the NW spawns, and then back to the Southeast.

If you have multiple people camping the cycle, you should spread your trackers to the corners and keep them there, then put your heavy hitters in the southwest corner, one healer in the SE, and maybe one nuker in the NW (cenobite heals and nukes, so it's a pain to melee him down by yourself). If done right, and you can track and kill quickly, a cycle can actually be done in less than 2 minutes. I did it one time with me (cleric), my bard friend, a druid and a wizard. The druid pulled for the SE and SW, the Wizard nuked the giants, and the bard and I took care of the NW corner, we were doing a full cycle every couple of minutes or so.

The Southeast corner has all goblins. The unnamed PH here is "a" goblin raider. Must have the a.

The Southwest corner has all giants. The PH here is a Mountain Giant Hillock, which sometimes can be a little tricky to pinpoint.

The Northwest corner has all Burynai. The PH here is a burynai miner, which is super common in the zone, but not in that corner.

There are about 5 individual named mobs that may spawn in each corner, as well as one placeholder. Some of the items you get from the lesser named mobs (goblin trailblazer's knife, goblin-head spear) sell for good cash at merchants (50pp+). Otherwise, the "good" spawns (grand cenobite, blugtuggin) are just a matter of luck.

Actually, this is exactly how Dustback spawns. I get five of these breastplates a night. In my expierence, Dusty is the most common Burynai rare, followed by Stonegrinder.

If you want one of these things and can't take him out, just go into FM and start auctioning. You'll get one within a coupla hours, max.

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 12 2001 at 9:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) To the guy who said he farms 5 of these a night... How? They are lore. I gather that your lying, but I guess you could go back and forth between east commons and fm to get this thing. Yeah, im sure you sell it instantly so you just have no problem coming back and killing him again. Why would you lie like that on a board? It really messes things up. So shut up.

Actually, I'm not lying, nor am I a guy.

I sell these things through the auction channel for 15-20pp to whomever in the zone can afford them. I don't do this cycle for money. I do it for members of my guild who can profit off the items, and we've all got better than this particular piece.

Generally, I'm looking for a medicine totem for a druid bud who ports me around at my whim, not for bread to line my pockets.

Please, have more respect for people. We aren't all in it for the money, and just because you can't figure something out doesn't mean I'm lying.

Have you ever sat down for 6 seconds and thought to yourself, "hmmmm....I want to have multiples of this LORE item.....how would I do that...hmmmm?" Obviously you have never sat down for 6 seconds and thought how you could obtain multiple lore items. I know a rogue that two Sarnak Battle Shields she wants to sell, now how is that possible? Alts. Thats right. Alt characters. You get 4 of your alts to the spawn point, camp them, and get on your main char. Kill, loot with main. Kill2, loot with alt, kill3 loot with alt etc. Also, he could be like a guildie(s) if mine who has three accounts he plays simultaneously. Next time think with your head instead of you *****

if you ask me, this sounds so much easier to camp than something you have to just sit there for. especially if you get xp for the various ph's, this can be your group, and maybe a friend in the last corner.
