Royal Pain
# Jan 18 2004 at 1:22 AM Rating: Decent
OMG What a Royal Pain this was. lol AOE Pacy?? Results.... 4 mobs on my head. Loading please wait. Lol.

I wish Sony would have not "Fixed" the Pacy.

We ended up killing half the guards that came after me. And then pulled the rest of the room with the King. I AOE pacy... then Cast Tash... it lands.. woot. I then cast Crip... no dice... re cast Crip... Lands. Cast Slow... No dice... Cast Slow... no dice. By this time raid force has killed him.

Cleric gets scroll wooT ! We run down to wait in Kings room for the 2 hr respawn. Opps we go into Queen room. Ouch. Wipe. Summon corpses... rez at zone line and call it a night.

I can say this... the AOE pacy is not a sure thing. Be ready to die in place. And be rezed and not train your group. Best of luck Evreyone!
Finally with post nerf'd Pacify
# Jan 12 2004 at 1:56 PM Rating: Default
To the poster below, around 20 min respawn on hall wanderers.

killed King in hallway with no adds from room, single pull. Ally 65 SK/Dru/Enc/Clr, 51 KoS rog alt on 5th account to let us in, sneak/hide way down, over left rock/ledge not royals bridge with DD trap.

parked group up hallway ramp in corner, killed the 5 wanderers. took Enc down, load up 2 pacify, aoe and pacification. target middle mob of 3 on right, aoe pac, target each guard in pit and single pac, then target middle mob on left and aoe pac should be reset to cast again by now.. SK str tapped king for no summon agro and pulled out of room up ramp to corner, tash/slow then no prob, even with tash, snare would get resisted so make sure you keep snare up on him close to 20% he is a fleeing mob, and his aoe dd/dispell takes snare off himself. He will flee towards the library with no snare.

After killing Prince, 2 sets of hall wanderers by king, 2 kings, still Ally faction.

piece o cake

Had a full group
65 Shaman
65 Rogue -KOS
62 Rogue
56 Cleric
56 Ranger
54 Bard

We all walked into the zone, the Rouge has SoS. After discussing pulling tactics, we eventually kill the roamers in the hallway. The cleric standing in the door way would AoE pacify the left and right side. His pacify would only hit 2/3 on each side. We pulled by tagging the mob on the right side that wasnt pacifiied. The Overking has a larger aggro radius than his guards so the Overking aggroed when we pulled the mob on the right but his guards didnt. The Cleric at this point had 50m
A total of the Overking and 3 adds came. The Bard immediatly went to work mezzing the adds. That was his job for the entire fight. This left 5 to take him down.
The Shaman immediatly tried to malos him and slow. He was blinded and was quickly killed. He didnt know if he got slow off but it appeared he did. In an effort to get the overking off the shaman, the Ranger pulls aggro. The Rogues BS the hell out of it, eventually the Ranger goes down leaving the 2 rogues and the cleric to kill it. The Cleric is running LOM, the Rogues are trading off the aggro to spread out the damage. With the 65 Rogue taking the Damage the cleric cast it's last complete heal .. the heal lands with the rogue at just 1% hp. The Overking had at this point healed itself, but the Rogue kept on pegging away at him.

Slowly the HP ticked away on the Overking .. and at 3% the 62 Rogue /Q because he has ally faction and didnt want to mess it up... leaving the 65 Rogue to finish it off... at this point the Cleric has long been OOM. With a few more thurst the 65 Rogue finishes it off. The Cleric runs to loot and is whacked dead by one of the adds that broke the mez early.

The Rogue has used his escape disc, the Bard keeps the adds mezzed, backs up and uses it's gate potion. Luckily the Cleric had enough brains to bind outside Chardok, he runs back in .. very slowly jogs his way to the first lock door with the waiting Rogue to pick it open .. runs to the Overking and loots his singed scroll.

I tell you, I dont think I've ever seen so much cheering.

King taken by shaman/bard duo
# Aug 26 2003 at 1:07 PM Rating: Good
This has been done by an guildmate of mine and his RL brother. Scroll went to a guildie cleric.

Strategy for 65 bard/65 shaman, all credit goes to the bard. He's a smartypants This strategy should involve some sort of Teamspeak or being next to each other or in the other room because the bard often gets blinded and you need to yell, "charm broke, recharm!"

- Both get ally
- Both get shrunken goblin earring, eighth coldain ring, regal band of bathezid rings, or whatever clickies you can find, although only the shaman really needs hp buffs
- Buff up both shaman and bard, make sure junk buffs are first and Virtue is last (may not be necessary but it's very helpful)
- Get to locked royal door
- Pacify outside mobs
- Use Eye of Zomm through door to pacify inside mobs
- Charm outside Judicator, attack mob inside locked door with it
- Once Judicator is hurt enough, break charm
- Get summoned inside
- Mez both mobs
- Have shaman heal bard 3 times then sit down
- Let mez break on judicator, shaman gets summoned inside
- Charm one and mez the other, both camp and log in again
- Go down the pit into Overking Bathezid's room
- Just to be safe, pacify all the wanderers in the hall and all the mobs in the room, and the guards
- Quiescence Bard, bard starts with slow and shaman starts with malos
- Harmony of sound and try to turgur until it sticks (pause a long time if it resists so you don't get beat up a lot-- the bard can handle it)
- Have bard tank and beat up Overking. If he's in the corner, feel free to Spirit Call.
- Have bard repacify every now and then. Have shaman reslow every now and then.
- Use your clickies a lot to preserve your hp buffs (the overking's aoe dispels) so that you can canni safely.
- Can keep bard alive easily with quiescence and occassional tnarg's.
- Can swap in an ornate sceptre and velium strike which will help
- Once the King is at around 60% hp, judicators will start healing
- Have bard charm judicator and attack with it, will help with dps so that you will outdamage the heals
- Bard will often get blinded, and aoe fire will disenchant the charm a lot, so need to call out to bard to recharm or whatever
- Kill Overking
- Bard can then recharm (or break charm) and fade, shaman won't have agro because judicator was just charmed
- Loot singed scroll
- Gate

That pair is generally capable of quite some wild stuff. And some say you can no longer have fun in EQ...

How much faction is enough?
# Jul 07 2003 at 10:42 AM Rating: Decent
HOw much faction is enough to just stroll down to Overking and single pull him? If I am reading this correctly as long as you have non KOS faction a lvl 65 can just single pull him.

Also if am reading correctly either you can just pacify down or you can build faction. I would like to consider the faction option but if it needs to be higher than dubious Im afraid it will just be way to time consuming.
RE: How much faction is enough?
# Jul 10 2003 at 5:19 AM Rating: Excellent
They are revamping Droga tonight to a 50-60 lvl zone, so factioning may be tougher than previously. But, I assume the turn-in quest will still be available (green goblin skin and Mt Death Mineral Salts) Those you can but in bazaar. My rogue went from max KOS to dubious in approx 8 hours of killing and at least 25 stacks turn ins. Mind you she missed a lot of faction hits in Droga because she didnt get a hit on every mob.

We have trio'd the king twice and have not lost a faction level. There are 5 roamers and we only have to kill 3 of the guards in his room. So that's 18 total sarnak kills and no faction change (still amiable.) My rogue did not take part in the killing of any mobs in Chardok, so unsure if dubious is enough to keep you non kos after killing the King.

I dont think you can walk in and solo pull him without pacify. Also, I think building faction would be a lot easier than pacifying your way to the King. There are a ton of mobs you will pass by and your cleric will go oom before you get there. ;)

Raid encounter? nah...
# Jul 02 2003 at 4:16 AM Rating: Good
We took the king down with a trio tonight.. 65 BST, pally and cleric. We all had amiable-ally faction with Chardok, so no need to fight down. I took my rogue to open doors for us. We killed the roamers and I pacified the king plus 3 of his guards. BST pulled the 3 other guards and pally and I go LD. :( We log back in about 20 minutes later just in time for roamer respawn.
Then I pacified the remaining mobs in the king room. BST pulls the king, I get off one Cheal, then pally and I go LD... again. :( I'm fretting the whole time I was trying to get back on. So many horrible scenarios going thru my head. :p Log back in to find the pally died from LD tanking and BST was down to 20% hp... and I look down the hall to see a dead king!! I loot my scroll, Avenger, rez the pally, sit down to relog and LD again! :( When we finally get back on, we were still amiable-ally to Chardok, so we just walked right out. :D
After this encounter, there was breif discussion of trying our trio on Ragefire. But when I mentioned having to do the whole quest over, that idea was tossed out the window. No way any of us want to hunt those damn fragments again!
Pacify
# Jun 30 2003 at 1:39 PM Rating: Excellent
What we do to save time is when pulling the prince and the king, we have a rogue hide and sneak into each room and target each mob, then have a cleric assist the rogue and pacify all mobs. Then it is easy to single pull the named you want.
Overking
# Jun 24 2003 at 4:51 AM Rating: Default
We finally got a raid setup. With 24 people avg. 56 level. Min level 51. Proceded to Chardok and worked our way down. We had a seasoned player that had led Chardok raid before, which was very usefull. Chanters are a must btw. Trip down to the actual castle was a breeze. Once inside we had a few deaths due to people not paying attention and breaking mez. After the locked door with the trap we cleared two pulls from the hall and actual king room with 8 guards in. After that we medded up and got king himself. I got my scroll and our MA got BP and we got two other spells i forgot which ones.

2 min after we wacked Overking we moved down to his room, and suddenly we had either backpops or im not sure what happened. Anyway... we completely wiped and had to do CR with 2k worth of coffins. A shame that happened, because we were all rdy to take down queen. A note to pay special attention is that aggro may have been caused by a pet. I still have to look through log files to see what actually happened, but seemed like a pet got "lost" and got aggro. So my advise is to drop pet or keep it close to ya.

It sounds a lot like you were pulling to the library. When you move in towards the Royal rooms there is a trap behind the stairs I believe that if activated will summon a ton of MOBs on top of you. You must have activated that trap on the way back. It is likely someone screwed up somehow and fell through the trap, but didn't say a thing.

2x Dead King, 2x Dead Queen, 13 peeps
# Jun 09 2003 at 4:31 PM Rating: Decent
Camped King and Queen the other night for about 5 hours. Did them with 13 peeps total - average level 59, lowest level 45.

Basically, we pulled the king room trash up the hall & promptly dispatched them to hell, then stormed the King in his pit area.

After killing him, we pulled the Queen to the top left of the pit (if you are in the pit looking out the door). After MT gained firm aggro, the other 5 melees jumped in and beat her down. Fairly easy fight - neither fight lasted more than a minute. Make your fight in this room easy - bring a Bard.

The two warriors and the two clerics we brought along got their epic drops. Thanks to Soulsheart and the rest of the AB gang (and to Agones for showing up this time :-) for putting this together.

Only had one death - and that was during the second Queen pop from 2 trash adds :-) All in all, a fun night of camping.
Not so bad...

This guy isn't so bad...if you can single pull him that is. Was in a raid last night that was just marching through the zone. A few deaths here and there but we had some awsome peeps. Camped abit away from the throne room and he was pulled...and brought friends with him. Started with a nasty fire based aoe that shredded through my damage absorber, and then continued to rip through the group. Not sure what else was casted(i was taking non-melee damage non-stop) or if it was from the other 4 or 5 guys that came with him, but i woke up at the entrance dispelled, dazed and with a sliver of life left. Bittersweet ending to an awsome ride, but i'd do it again in a heartbeat.

If your going after this guy, bring some resist gear and a really good army. good luck!

Note from Prince Selrach
# May 12 2003 at 12:26 AM Rating: Default
This was looted last night (Sunday around 5amest)
and i cant find any information on it. I assume it must be quest related, but i have no idea what quest. The text is:

Father, I, as well as many of our counsil members,
do not feel comfortable with the power that has been given to Korucust. This concern must be seen as valid. Korucust has his expanded reach through his use of terror and false accusations. I fail to see the conspiracy that he keeps referring to, and caution you to reconsider giving him any more power over our soldiers. Selrach.

The item is not no drop, and dropped once in the two kills that we made that night. Does anyone know what its for?

2 people 2 boxes each = dead king
# Apr 14 2003 at 4:21 PM Rating: Good
My friend (62monk and boxed 62cleric) and I (62enchanter and boxed 60 rogue) took out the king on our own last night. We set up in the hallway up the ramp from his room and cleared the 6 wandering mobs. I went down and pacified the entire king room and monk solo-pulled the king. he had a lovely aoe dd/dispell that went of repeatedly so we ended up fighting most of the battle without buffs. I was able to land slow very early and again later on when it wore off. Lack of mana was really the only issue since i started at 50% and C3 kept getting dispelled. Rogue and monk died due to the king running into the room before the library and and aggroing the two guards there at the very end. Cleric and enchanter lived and cleric looted epic piece and Incarnadine BP, rezzed the monk and rogue, and we waltzed out of there. I had heard rumors that killing the king will lower you to kos no matter what your starting faction is. This is definitely not the case. Started at ally, 6 mobs + king later, still ally. Did Prince awhile ago with same 4-man group when we were 60enchanter 55rogue 60monk 60 cleric

Getting to King
# Feb 24 2003 at 3:48 PM Rating: Excellent
Several ways to get to him, here's the easiest and quickest:
Give SoE or SoW/lev to everyone before you raid. Make sure you got the rogue who knows how to open doors.
Upon zone in, chanter or pally goes first, and pacifies everything in sight. The rest follow behind. Remember, pacified is not mezzed. Tell folks to keep max distance from mobs. Pacify cuts aggro range real short, but it's still there.
Pacify stuff by the gates, sneak past gates into zoneout tunnel. At the point where ZO tunnel starts, there is an opening up on north wall. If you move into ZO tunnel a bit, you can lev from there into that opening.

Follow this tunnel, pacifying mobs along the way, till you get to a fork. Take right, and you will see a ramp up, going south. A door leads to small room before the ramp, 3 mobs there. If you can open door sans aggro, you can pacify mobs inside, but usually we have to fight them.

Ok, now up the ramp. Bridge Keeper can be here, he is like 57, but fairly easy. Iksar betrayer can be here too, and your monks will be happy if he is.

Turn right across hanging bridge. Kill the patroller on bridge. Proceed further. Remember, those bones lying on the ground are mobs too. Keep your eyes peeled for names: Ska'tu and Zo'lun can spawn here, and they can drop good stuff. Get to gates, kill the constructs guarding it, and move in, pacifying any sarnaks in sight. Quickly kill everything in this area, and get ready to cross bridge. There is a trap that spawns skeletons in the pit, so if you ITU entire raid, you should do well.

Ok, NOW you must work quickly and precisely. You gotta stay on your toes, or you'll get bogged down in repops.

Get rid of 2 mobs right behind door after bridge, but don't go into the lobby. Send bindsighted rogue in and pcify verything, then rush through lobby and make a right. A couple mobs must be killed there. Then take the room to the west - 3 mobs there. To the south in the hall you see a door going west, and guarded by 2 sorcerers. Kill them too. Door is locked and it leads to Prince. Kill Prince to make a chanter happy. See my previous post on how to get him single.

Now clean the room to south (3 mobs) and proceed through locked door in south hallway. Stairs are a safe spot, you can med up, rebuff, declare AFK break etc.

Clean this hallway, send a bindsighted rogue to next room (library top floor) and pacify everything there. Move in and kill. Now chanter can go to top of staircase, and moving from mob to mob using bindsight, pacify mobs sownstairs too. Don't touch Loremaster Piza'tak, he is immune. Now rush downstairs and kill everything.

Next, bindsighted rogue opens the door here, hugs LEFT wall. and moves into next room. Again, chanter pacifies, group moves in and kills. Remember, when exiting library, HUG LEFT WALL. There is a fake floor on right side that will drop you directly on top of the king.

You are almost there. Proceed east through a fake wall, around a corner, kill a couple wandering mobs here, and get ready. Around next corner is a ramp leading down, and at its bottom is opening to the right, looking into throne room. Again, see my previous post on how to get the King to come alone. When alone, King is a wuss.
Dead King
# Feb 24 2003 at 3:09 PM Rating: Excellent
Led a raid yesterday, we took Prince down twice, King once. Would take King second time, but accidentally aggroed Queen prematurely and got wiped.

Anyways, here's the simple strategy that worked wonders for us, both Prince and King. A 57 chanter(me), a 54 rogue and 2 little spells: bind sight and pacify. This technique will also get you into the castle willy-nilly, without having to fight every single sarnak on the way too.

Rogue is bindsighted, and sent to say hi to King. I see the King, and bind sight him. Now I am proudly riding in King's skull, observing his faithful minions, ready to rush to King's help. I quickly chain Pacify on all I can target from this perspective, then bind sight one of side mobs. From that perspective, I usually can see those mobs that are not in King's view. Several more pacifies. King got 8 guards, so I make sure I get them all. Soon as last pacify lands, I yell PULL!!!, and our MT one-ups the King. So the King goes all indignant, and chases the puller, knowing that his faithful guards are right behind him. Little he knows that his guards are blissfully picking their collective noses back in the throne room. In the corridor, he runs into our merry band, and meets his lonely death there. Poor King.
