Friends.

If you've killed the Sisters in OOT you will have positive faction with all spiders in Kunark and will not be KOS.

I camped her two consecutive nights in the web closest to Frontier Mountains cleaning up entire web for 18 hours total, a druid tracked every five minutes to see if she wasn't up in other webs, nothing... thanks Verant for making another no drop item for the "casual" player...

When the previous posted said "casual" it meant that a serious player can spend a lot of time and effort and walk away empty handed, which we all know happens and sucks, and that someone can just log on for 5 minutes and get lucky and get this item. And the serious player can't even by it off them.
Enc can do it solo :-)

Here's what happened with my adventure with the ho. Took me 3 days of coming to finally get her to pop of about 7 hours total between the 3 days (lucky me the day I got it was when I had 1.5 hours - lol)

I'm a 57th Enc with non plane gear but have all my spells up to 58 & quite a few mana items on, prob around 400 with 212int. I was sitting right inbetween all 3 webs. If I'm FM when I start I can kill all spawns one after another up to 12 before I have to med. Reason is I used my animation, lvl 55 one (quads 54 after I give it a daggar or gnoll lariat). I give it resist magic, umbra (ac) & AQ (very good speed) I meself have all buffs that I can do & Jboots. I had just come back from the wall as I had slaughtered the previous round of spiders when I got 2 steeps & had to rest in safe area, during this time a Dru gave me SLN - so I had about 200 more hps than normal. When I got back full pops. So I go back inbetween 3 webs again & in a little med time DW pops - so I do the following;

-cast damage shield on animation
-illusion iksar for regen on me
-cast berserker str = dmg absorb (not rune - the regeant free one) on both meself & animation.
-80m & I cast high dmg dd (645dmg) on its skeleton pet - kill it in one shot & the DW comes right at me & I must say it seemed to come faster than sow - but not sure - I think I had the very high lvl one as it hit me range from 50-120 & HT for what appears to be 500-600dmg - near half my hps.
-400 mana drain
-cast tashanian on it
-70% atk slow debuff
-950 DoT/wis & int debuff
-700 DoT/str & agi debuff
-berserker str on me & animation as req'd to keep me & animation alive
-target 8 sec stun/mana drain
-during all of this I had 90% agro & I kept backing up the mountain side to avoid adds (I can dazzle I know - but didn't want the chance :-P)
-due to the agro I kept getting & animation not getting hit hardly at all I stunned it once & mem root & rooted it so I could mem some
-mana drained it 2 more times again & put the 2 DoT's on it again.
-did the DoT's twice each & dmg absorbs & about half way I did about 6 DD's, this wasn't the best as I was then lom & getting hurt & couldn't berserker str, but I did get a root off & was able to med a bit. Near end I had to take some more hits to allow animation to survive - I knew if it died - I would die. At a sliver of health it started to run, so with last remaining mana I had, I put dmg absorb on animation & rooted it & then put me high DoT on it once again, & then sat down & watched it waiting for it to die.

DW is a very tough ho & got both me & me animation down to 1 bub hps each. Without casting my dmg absorb I have no idea how I would've done it. I wasn't going to kite it without a snare & besides kiting is for wimps :-P
But I got the thyxl in the end & now have it just for looks - lol. Some have said it has 10k hps - the one I fought seemed to have alot more then that considering an average hit from me animation is 35 every second (which is what it does) I calculated in 5 mins it took me to kill it - animation did 10k then add my 4k in DoTs & 3k for me DD's - not sure if it healed itself or not - but I'm guessing mine had 15k at least.

Anyways, wanted to show it can be done with an Enc & no healer solo.

Good hunting

Took this bug down last night for her thixl. Here's the skinny:

- She was level 46 (conned even to the monk in our group), so she can be lower than the listed level range.
- Took around 3-4 hours to spawn. Any spider that pops underneath a web in the NE of dreadlands is a potential placeholder, and the pop time is around 20 minutes. I think the timer starts when you kill all the bugs under a single web; even after breaking the pulls they still popped in groups, so it might be something like the ancient croc camp in Guk, where you have to kill all the PH's to start the timer again. A level 54 wizzie (claritied) couldn't keep up with the spawns alone; add a 45 cleric to the mix and you can just barely keep up. Going with all nukers is actually easiest by far, but if you don't have somebody 53+ for the initial pull you *will* get multiple pulls quite often without somebody to harmony.
- Actually a reasonably fun, safe camp for group xp (we eventually formed a group 38-46) -- not crowded like the north wall so no competition for spawns. The spiders provide a decent bit of action and there are wanderers nearby to pull. Safest place to camp is to the north of the webs, possibly on the beginning of the slope between the two webs at the NW of the area. VERY few wanderers come close enough to aggro.
- Her pet, like all SK pets, stank. One cast of Banish (either undead or summoned will work on SK/necro pets) connected for about 589 and killed him in a single shot.
- Her HT was more effective than we expected. It wiped out a level 54 wizard's damage screen and a bit more, for a total of around 800, we think.
- Melee was manageable, but we basically tried to kite her so the rogue and monk could get free shots at the back while the wizzie kept aggro. Worked pretty well. She had been buffed by the other nearby bugs, so you'll want to dispell the dmg shield if you've got fast melees attacking.
- Seemed to have 7k-8k hp.
- Dropped the thixl on the first and only kill.

soloabe for a lvl 54 necro

This is how i did it:
Memed bond, splurt, blood, engulfing, dooming, fd, harmshield and a buffslot filled with lich when i pulled finaly.
The respawn is 20 minutes, with 1 to 2 Phs in the web up on the hill thats closes to FM zone.
Was buffed with skin, shield, dmf, sow (boots in fact), resist disease. Lvl 49 Pet was buffed with augment death, resist disease and not taunting. I was camped at the wall north of her a bit more to west, where also my pet was parked. She cast her pet when she poped.
This is how the fight went:
I liched and pulled her with dooming while staying out of responcerate of pet. She resisted and i ran to the huge kitearea to the west, while i was being HTed for 120. I repeated engulfing till it stuck and let her pet attack me. Then i ran to pet while i put blood and splurt on her to have my pet finish hers of. Kiting her around i was hit a fiew times so i had to /pet back of when hers was dead. When splurt ran its course i called my pet for reinforcement finaly and it was pounding her 10k hits down with delight and never cought her attention. After the second round of dots ran thought (lich had given me enough mana for a free bond of death) she was at 20 health and very pissed. I might have done this with roguepet, now that i think of it. This is when i made a mistake, my pet agroed a rager. We all know how it is: when u wanna pull something the field is totaly mt, but when u finaly found something all of a sudden u run into lot of mobs that just happen to come by..
I kited the rager while waiting for the mistmoore factionhit to finaly show up. The ******* was fast and unsnared still, so i had to harmshield on last bub of health while i looted her and dashed to FM zone. I didnt dare to zone cos that would have desintegrated my item.
Theoreticaly i think a lvl 51 necro with good MR (i had to resist some darknesses, and dont wanna know what had happened if i hadent) and managear could do it, since i never used a spell that cant be cast in 51 already and was on 1 and a half bubs of mana in the end. Shes a ***** at resistance though, so s/he would have to be a true solo artist.

Details on Dread Widow

I managed to get one of these to spawn the other night, and get the coveted Drachnid Thyxl.

There were two of us, myself (51 necro) and a 50 druid. We camped the webs closest to the FM zone, pulling to the east side. We kept the whole area bug free, and it took around 5 hours for the Dread Widow to spawn. When it finally spawned, it was in the web to the southeast.

Highlights:

It immediately got a pet, and due to roamers we were unable to pull it until another bug had spawned and buffed the DW.
The harmtouch did around 600 points of damage. My pet with 2 swords of runes killed the DW's pet almost immediately.
The DW resisted only one fear and one ignite blood.
During the battle I got 2 splurts, 1 ignite blood, and one bond of death on, and cast fear 4 times (once resisted) and the druid nuked a few times.
DW feared my pet one time.
Melee damage from this mob was pretty hefty, chewing through my diamondskin (rune IV) in one round.
Mob wields the Drachnid Thyxl which is visible.

Good luck! I'm glad I got mine, just wish it hadn't taken 5 hours to spawn. =)

Soloable Classes
# Aug 26 2000 at 12:59 AM Rating: Default
I'd like to know what classes can solo the Dread Widow, and at what level. I've met a Necro who was 51 when he soloed her, but we all know how kick *** Necros can be =).

ATM, I'm a 42 Wiz. I'd like to know if I'll stand a chance at 51. I'll prolly try it anyway, but I'd like an idea of what I'll be up against.

I definitely would not call this mob easy. Myself (50 druid) and my friend (45 Wiz) took her on, dying once each but did actually defeat her. Started fully buffed (Skin like Nature, full resist line, thorncoat and she also had her steelskin and personal buffs on). Started full mana and went OOM with her still at about half life. The Harmtouch wasn't that bad (prob mostly resisted), but it did drop me by 2 bubs (approx 540 hps).

I kited the mob around while the Wiz harvest/med. Got Drones of Doom off (from my ES Vambraces) several times while kiting (couldn't get her snared at all initially. Rooted a few times, but she almost always immediately broke it). Got her down finally to about 20% life.

Finally, through all the DoTs, blasts and other crap she dumped on me (after 20 mins of kiting) she killed me. Wiz went for FV zone then went back to DL. I ported back and found her again and the battle resumed (by this time she was back up to 35-40% life and we were full mana.

Re-dumped all our mana into her (didn't buff this time) and got her to about 10% life. Wiz finally aggroed her and died and gated back while I kited and used the ES vambraces for all they were worth.

Eventually got her snared and got enough mana for a Starfire and finished her off. Very magic resistant mob and LOTS of hit points.

Only hits in the 80s at most from what I saw. Nice drop the Wiz got and well worth it I think.

HT does 1 + 10hp dmg per level so if this is 49 it would do 491dmg. so it wasnt mostly resisted ;)

Actually, no. The formula changes at level 41. to 20x(Level-40)+401 So at 49 that's 581. :)

first off you would need LOTS of mana, my 54 wiz can only get it to half cuz it has high mr and i need to use lures to hit it, i can only get it to about half before im OOM, even with harvest popped that only gives me one more nuke.
a wizard and any other class chanter/cleric/druid could take it easy

remember sk based mob = Harms touch if shes level 49 it will do around 500dam
RE: Soloable Classes

having both a necro and a wiz(even thought the wiz is not that high), i think that it would be quite impossible for a wiz to solo it. however, you might have a chance if you have JBoots and lots of mana to kite it =P

Wiz can solo if...
# Feb 19 2001 at 7:07 AM Rating: Decent
I could solo this. But I am level 60 now. I got mine at 54-55 I believe (I forget) and got her about down to 30% health and had my ranger friend finish her off.

A wiz can solo 49 Kunark mobs if they have around 500 in mana items on them and use draught line (like ice at 57). Just make sure you have harvest up in case.

Don't worry about harm touch if you think you have the mana, a proper kite and she won't get one off on you.

I hunted this spider took 2 nights (usally takes less time) when she pop'd she con'd blue to me at 48 (But she can be at variuos lvl) Here HT wasn't very nasty but she had a whole lot of HP's! Someone said she had a rae drop (+10 int ring) but i think thats a crock :)

She also has a set place to spawn and a PH on the right hand side (coming from FV) She spawns up on the hill (Aways from the 2 lower webs with 4 spiders each)

Hope this helps
