Infact VERANT themselves said Veeshan (The Great Crystalline Dragon) would never fit in the game. Once again bigger than the world.

In PoA (Plane of AIR) no, there's no plane of sky, its relativly the same thing,:

Eye of Veeshan and Hand of Veeshan are the god-like mobs, proving again she's too big (even if the parts may seem small enough to make a whole it's just being put into perspective).

On the server RN(Rodcet Nife) EK (Eastern Keep) has been to Veeshan's Peak but of course the posts *laugh* posts are from 2000 and this is 2001 summer, so I see the disbelief.

So why are we talking about Veeshan, because Phara Dar is the biggest boss of Veeshan's Peak(stated Veeshan's Peak=P). Course, consider that PoA was created before Kunark and they had no intention of VP then. So now that its clear and the time has passed for the elite guilds to have journeyed to VP... Post about Phara Dar!
Misinformation...
# Aug 13 2001 at 3:57 PM Rating: Good
Hmmmm, not a lot of this information is useful, or even correct. Here are some facts:

1) Phara Dar is a *cleric*, not an enchanter. Why? She does a CHeal if she can, I know of no enchanter mobs that can pull off a CHeal... ;)

2) PD does not "mezmerize", it's an AE stun, which lasts like 10 sec or so. Stuns are used by clerics, although this one is an AE stun (and yes, I'm fully aware that chanters have AE stun as well, but PD is still not an enchanter, he's a cleric!).

3) Get your MR up way up there. Even at 200+, it's hard to resist the stuns. But, it can be done, so drag your bards with you on your next clearing of VP. You can maybe use some "geographics" to your favor, but I don't think you can avoid the AE stun entirely, without very high MR.

4) Phara Dar *will* gate if given the opportunity. Two enchanters can mana sieve enough to avoid the gate, but he will CHeal at least once. With a few more enchanters, you might be able to sieve her dry before she even gets the cheal off. But, to avoid an annoying CR, possibly with SC, make sure she's dry before she tries to cast the gate.

Hope that helps.

Verant has been known to create some strange hybrid class templates before, combining abilites from multiple classes in a single monster. Phara does not have a pet, so I am pretty sure she isn't an enchanter. Silverwing is, she has a chanter pet. Nexona is either a necro or a shadowknight, since she has a skeleton pet. But as I said, there are some wierd combination mobs in the game. For instance, in Maidens Eye, you have the Xin Thall Centiens, generally level 58 4-armed guys. They harm touch for 911 damage. Shadowknight, right? But, they cast complete healing. So WTF is that?
RE: Misinformation...
# Feb 15 2003 at 12:02 PM Rating: Decent
Simple enough ... half of the 4arms are SKs, and half Clerics. You'll notice the ones that Harm Touch dont heal, and the ones that heal don't harm touch.
RE: Misinformation...
# Jan 31 2002 at 6:24 PM Rating: Decent
Your right, PD is a Cleric. The stun is a special dragon stun. Most dragons have a special AE that is not part of the spell line of that class. I don’t remember the resist message off hand but I remember seeing: you have resisted the dragon stun spell, or something to that effect.

AE stun is part of the cleric spell line. The one we get is:

Name: Stun Command
Level: 55
Mana: 150
Class: Evocation
Era: Scars Of Velious
Type: Area Effect Stun
Max Duration: 9 seconds
Casting Time: 1 second
Recast Time: 45 seconds
Actual Effects:
Area Effect: Low Resist Stun (9 Seconds)

The only difference is the dragon stun has damage attatched to it. With the release of Luclin, we also get:

Name: Sacred Word
Level: 39
Mana: 120
Class: Alteration
Era: Shadows Of Luclin
Type: Area Effect Stun
Max Duration: 6 seconds
Casting Time: 3 seconds
Recast Time: Instant (not instant, but this is what castersrealm says and I haven't bothered to figure out the recast time on it yet)
Actual Effects:
AE: Stun for 6 Seconds
AE: Direct Damage (79 - 90)

Yah, I know this dragon was around before Luclin, so don't bother pointing that out. :) Just saying chanties aren't the only ones that can ae stun.

Phara easy
# Aug 12 2001 at 9:18 PM Rating: Default
OMG Phara is EASY, Done her with 32 people and had only 1 death, Hoshkar is much harder IMO. Hoshkar is a PD that can gate.

Hoshkar is evil. And if you do that tatic where you skip killing Hoshkar you did not really get to enjoy the true VP experience, Because Hoshkar is a mob that shows you what real pain is. He can gate 5 - 6 times until you finaly do an attempt where he won't gate, He can gate while running even! And he seems harder IMO even without the gate. He can kill your nukers VERY fast, Seems harder to resist than the others. And he roams right up to SS, SS is very small, if a kos person steps right out of that small area. YOU ARE ALL DEAD. Have a cleric outside with a rezz window open at all times for easier CR.

Hey guys. I was just wondering. Im on Fennin, and really want that Shroud of Veeshan (DAMN IT ROCKS) Is there a chance that i could kill her with like 40 other level 60s? I really want that shroud heh. Could someone here who has actually fought her maybe post some info on what she does, and how she hits? Thanks!

BTW, the little story of the level 1 necro going to Veeshan's Peak was hilarious!

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 29 2001 at 4:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't know you or your guild or even what server you're on, but if you're coming to this site to ask advice on rather or not your guild can do VP, then you probably can't. Since, you're coming to one of the worst EQ sites on the Internet to gain acutally information from the posters (mind you, not the worst EQ site for the content put up by the webmasters, I like Allakhazam's site, but the most retarded people post here, me being the ONLY exception), then you probably should not think about going into VP, go try to do ToV or some Sleeper's first. Those zones are along the same lines of VP, but at least there, you can do CR.

Ninja loot?

Just FYI if you try to gate /q or run off in VP you aren't going to be very succesfull. Seeing as gate isn't going to take you anywhere and if you /q you are going to log back into a dragon filled zone and die. Once your guild sees that you've stolen the loot good luck running past the dragons by yourself :) just my 2 cp.

RE: wtf
# Jul 07 2001 at 8:18 AM Rating: Good
Ok...imagine that you have just killed an uber, 55+ mob/dragon that drops some serious, and I mean serious loot. Everyone is sitting around getting ready for rezzes, making sure no back spawn has popped up, and congratulating themselves. While the raid leader and his sub-commanders are deciding how to divvy up the loot, who gets to roll, and other assorted issues, some fine, upstanding fellow decides to mosey on over to the corpse. While no one is paying attention, this lovely individual right clicks on the corpse and takes the item(s) of their choice. Regardless of anyone else's complaints, this perfect gentleman/woman then proceeds to gate, /q, or run off. This is ninja looting. A ninja looter can be a member of the raid, or some even more obnoxious so and so bystander who just decided to help themselves to the loot.

Ninja looters are as bad, if not worse than KSers. By the time you get to raiding, they are even worse, because it is kinda hard to KS a dragon or a mob like Innoruk. Ninja looting is a good way to make sure that your grouping abilities are severely restricted, as no one wants to group with someone who might just help themselves to the best loot and then leave. If you are in a guild, it is a good way to be removed.

RE: wtf
# Aug 29 2001 at 5:10 PM Rating: Default
Yeah you did miss one thing: you can't gate out of Veeshan's Peak.

If anyone pulled a stunt like that on a VP raid, you can bet they wouldn't be getting ANY assistance whatsoever to get OUT of VP (no heals, no buffs, no nothing). Sure maybe you can have a cleric rez you to your corpse outside the zone, but then you won't be taking any of that phat lewt with you.

With most other zones, ninja looting is a problem, but Veeshan's Peak is an exception.

True, but unfortunately that does not even deter people (. Sigh, I've seen/heard a lot of shady crap like that happen in this game, and it's too bad... seems like there are fewer and fewer good people out there, everyone's in it for themselves... oh well, nothing anyone can do to change it I guess.

I just wonder, since the game does have these preventative measures in it now, why do people still seem to get away with it? And how in the heck do they reach higher levels. I know complete jerks, who continue to be obvious jerks and they seem to have no problem getting groups and getting what they want, why is this? Seems like people don't care...

Strategy

If anyone thinks a group of anything less than 20, 25 can taker this thing.. leave now. If anyone thinks tanks will be ANY good againt a level 65 Enchanter, leave now. This is one bad betch, you're going to need Enchanters, Wizards, Mages, and Druids and LOTS of them.. Enchanters can Rune tanks, saving a little damage, though this battle gets more and more impossible by the second. Tanks need to attack for aggro about one millisecond before casters start nuking as hard as they can. A well led, well skilled guild of 30 - 40 should kill her with minimal damage if they can manage to stay alive that long.. by the way, Shadow Knights and Rangers would be the best tanks, they can DoT themselves in case the battle lasts long enough for a full Mez.

You clueless newbie. Let me summarize all the stupid things you said in that small paragraph.

"If anyone think tanks will be ANY good against a level 65 enchanter, leave now."
You are obviously a moron. Lets see...Lets try to kill a 65 dragon with...no tank! OMGZ LEET!! QUICK ENCHANTERS CHAIN STUN HIM AND THE OTHER ENCHANTERS MEZ HIM! QUICK HEAL THE WIZARD!

"You're going to need Enchanters, Wiards, Mages, and Druids and LOTS of them."
Explain. How are this supposedly "winning" combination going to stay alive? Just pray to god that you can deal 32k damage in 10 seconds?

"Tanks need to attack for aggro about one millisecond before casters start nuking as hard as they can."
Yes...You are ever so bright. If they did that, every caster would get summoned one by one and get anally raped. Leaving you with... NO ******* CASTERS!

"Shadow Knights and Rangers would be the best tanks."
I can see how shadow knights fit in...but rangers? Wtf!? Oh i know! Rangers can tank good because they half wolf form can't they!!! OMGZ I NEVER THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY!!

So, please Mr. TheosEkkMechanes or whatever the hell your name is. Don't talk about stuff you don't know. Please god don't talk about stuff you don't know. I just have to take time out of my busy schedule, to correct your stupid ***.

hp?
# May 25 2001 at 1:58 PM Rating: Decent
somehow i doubt that the sleeper has 1 billion hp, since the everquest engine (and most others for that matter) can't process integers over 32,000. just something to think about..
RE: hp?
# Jul 03 2001 at 10:44 AM Rating: Default
your right it cant handl integers over 32767(i think) because an integer ranges from -32768-32767(a 16bit number)
however a long integer can be(again i think) -1073741824-1073741823(a 32 bit number)
they switched to using long integer variables as opposed to normal integer, and so mobs now can have upto 1073741823hp and yes they can have uber regen added on top of that, the sleeper is designed to be unkillable so they probably gave it 3000000000hp and 1000/tick regen or something crazy, it hasnt been killed...and is 1 of 4 mobs i can think of that havent to my knowledge been killed(tunare in pog, lunatic in poa, and riversource in warrens are the others) though i think tunare can be killed its just hard, and riversource can it just takes so long and is so boring hehe
RE: hp?

I believe Sirran the Lunatic in PoA was killed using a bard charm on the Keywmaster, which was prompty thereafter nerfed. The bard also became KoS to every mob in PoA.

River source has been killed, took forever apparently, and being in the warrens, it dropped nothing.

Just an update, Tunare has been killed exactly once now. Her loot was CRAP too. Like 2 necro robes and some other joke item that no one uber enough to kill her would likely want.
RE: hp?
# Jun 04 2001 at 4:33 PM Rating: Default
You're probably right. Here's something to consider. If any mob had regen of 1000 points per tick (guides get a 100 point regen - don't ask me why), even chaincasting IC would appear to do only a sliver of damage considering the casting time and because the mob's hp bar only updates once per tick. Even a 1000+ point spell would appear to do marginal damage, if any damage at all even though a mob may have only 32000hp.
During a standard dragon raid, casters generally wait until the dragon has lost a fair percentage of health before casting their highly damaging spells to avoid being summoned, but that wouldn't work if the dragon has just regenerated all the hp it may have lost in the previous moment's melee - the casters would never cast. In a case where a mob has a gross regen, the raiding party would have to consist primarily of wizards who should cannon immediately with IC or a similar high damage spell. You could buff yourself to try to last longer, but once the call goes out to attack, the raiding party should explode with everything they have - no exceptions.
The point is, only hard and fast would win that kind of battle. Hesitation would be fatal.
The battle would have to be well orchestrated, and everyones initial action would need to take place at precisely the same moment.
And before somone asks, I've never seen sleeper or been in his tomb. I'm merely speculating. And no, I don not know how previous sleeper raids have been executed. But no one knows how many hp this thing has either.
My point is this, someone may do 10k dmg to a mob and still not appear to do any damage at any point during the battle - but that doesn't mean the mob has a billion hp.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 16 2001 at 4:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've been thinking, the Sleeper may only appear to have 1 million HP because he might be able to regenerate his hp exponientally. Just a thought

This is the tale of a level one Necromancer who went to Veeshan's Peak.....

First this level 1 necro got all of her high-level buddies to help her kill Trakanon (It was yellow to her of course) and do the quest for the key after she had the key she had her high-level buddies help her get her faction up to aimiable with the Ring of Scale so of course she wouldn't be KoS. Then she procceeded to enter Veeshan's Peak (Those guardian wurms are a peice of cake). This is what happened to the level 1 necro...

She enters The Peak, takes a look around, nice blue dragons and everything, but then she sees Phara Dar. Oooh this one's red. Let's have fun...
(conversation)

"Hail Phara Dar lady person!" - necro
(You hear what would sound like a dragon laughing if this was possible)

"What do YOU want?" - Phara Dar

"I'm gonna whoop yer @$$!" - Nec

(You hear dragon laughter again)

"Lol yeah right *****. Bring it." - PD

"Go Xebornik!" - nec

"As you wish master." - Xebornik

Xebornik hits Phara Dar for 1 point of damage.
Phara Dar regenerates 20 points of damage.
Xebornik hits Phara Dar for 2 points of damage.
Phara Dar regenerates 20 points of damage.
Xebornik hits Phara Dar for 1 point of damage.
Phara Dar regenerates 20 points of damage.
Xebornik hits Phara Dar for 3 points of damage.
Phara Dar regenerates 20 points of damage.

Necromancer shouts, "Oom"
Necro sits for one second, pops back up.
Necromancer shouts, "FM"
Necromancer shouts, "Anyone have wulf?"

Phara Dar regenerates 20 points of damage

Phara Dar rolls on the ground laughing, unable to contol herself.

Phara Dar shouts, "ROFLMAO!"

Phar Dar has died laughing! You have killed Phara Dar!

Necromancer shouts, "Ding 2"

Necromancer auctions, "WTS Crappy Phara Dar crap, It like really sux next to me rusty dagger"

~The End~ Very colorful, don't you think?

ROFLMAOFH!
(Rolling On the Floor Laughing My *** Off For Hours!)

Great story, blondy. Check out this one, a story of buying a car, with an EQ touch:

(Author's Name: Vladis)
Ahhh, good to be back. The battle with the finance managers guild has ended, and Vladis and I have emerged victorious. My abilities were not quite what was needed to defeat them, but Vladis armed himself with his dark credit reaver, and cast our enemies into the chasm of "No Sale", and we grouped to attack our next opponent. We started out in the zone called Crystal lake. It is a vast zone, but it is filled with newbies and most mobs con green or low blue there. But most are under the protection of A_Cop_50, who are uber mobs and con red.

So anyway we are heading through the middle of the zone, and we saw what looked like a fort, and decided to try and pull a fast raid, since the zone was full of greenies. We go to the outer court yard of a place that we learned later was called the Estate of Dodge_Chrysler. As we set up our camp, a wandering mob came close. Upon conning we discovered that this mob conned blue, and we could gain xp from it. We promptly attacked.

A_Salesman_01 says You have not found a car for that price, I shall not sell you mine!
A_Salesman_01 hits YOU with a dodge neon for 48 points of damage.
Soral begins to cast
You say "ahh I feel much better now"
A_Neon screams in agony
You have slain a neon
Vladis hits A_Salesman_01 for .9% APR
Vladis has slain A_Salesman_01
Your faction with your checkbook has gotten better
You faction with neon has gotten worse

So we attempted to loot, and discovered that our xp wasn't very good at this fort, and the loot sucked. So we moved on. We travelled the zone for abit and was about to give up, and suddenly we saw a smaller stronghold than our last encounter. From a distance we targeted our victim. He conned yellow! Good xp, and probably killer loot. WE approached carefully.

Loading...Please wait.
You have entered the Ormsby Motors zone

Looking around we didn't see our target. The he appeared from inside. Damn pathing problems. He got the drop on us, but we came prepared to do battle.

A_Ormsby_Warrior hits you with a 97 Lumina for 60 points of damage
Soral begins to cast Dark Test Drive
Soral says "ahhh. I feel much better now"
You have Test Driven A_97_Lumina
You gain experience
Your faction with the Ormsby Warriors has improved.
A_Ormsby_Warrior says "welcome Soral, would you like to see a warranty"

So I checked his inventory and found he did in fact have a quest item I needed. Vladis and I decided to forgo our raid and attempt to do business with this warrior. But we never let our guard down. Finally my quest was almost over. But then, out of nowhere, a rare spawn emerged, and brought the real battle.

A_Credit_Pawn begins to cast
Your credit slows
Soral says "Pet Attack"
Downpayment hits A_Credit_Pawn for 10% points of damage
Soral begins to cast engulfing payment books Soral is hit with high intrest rate
Your spell is interrupted
Vladis credit touches A_Credit_Pawn
A_Credit_Pawn writhes in agony
Soral begins to cast Gather Lower Intrest Rate
A_Credit_Pawn resists the Lower Intrest Rate

Then out of nowhere Vladis armed his dual weild ability

Vladis Slashes A_Credit_Pawn with a good financial history
Vladis has scored a crushing blow 120 points of damage
Vladis bludgeons A_Credit_Pawn with his mace of dual income
Vladis has scored a critical hit 96 points of damage
Soral begins to cast Final Offer Cloud
A_Credit_Pawn screams in agony
A_Credit_Pawn dies
You recieve group experience
Your faction with bankers guild has improved
Welcome to the next level

Ding I shouted.
Grats a shout came across the zone

A_Ormsby_Warrior says "I can give you A_97_lumina if you can complete (the paperwork) for me."

Soral says "Let me sign the paperwork"
You gain experience
A_Ormsby_Warrior says "Thank you. Here are the keys to your prize. Please come again when you reach your next circle, I have more quests for you"

Vladis left the zone with some real phat loot and a good deal of xp and better faction. The battle was hard fought, but we came out victors. It is a fun zone, and I may return there someday.
