Update .. the checklist I was using said I needed Nez, Phurziken AND Gylton. Scrap that .. you only need one of these bloody things. I should have read that better.

So updated recommendation after 21 hours of camping Gylton .. SKIP THIS .. and camp Nez / Phurziken and leave after you get your one burning embers. It's OR not AND!

That sucks! I do that type of thing all the time. I also recommend reading ahead on epics. See what zones you are going to be in so you can just collect everything you need while you are there. I have a toon on each spawn point for Nez and Phur... Been a couple hours, killed a bunch of each, no Embers yet.

Gylton for the Wurmslayer quest spawns in the northwest area of Burning Woods, north of the Giant fort.

He has a singular spawn cycle that once you find can repeatedly spawn him. His spawn cycle respawns every 2minutes and 52 seconds (172s) and includes another named wurm "Entalon".

The easiest way to get Gylton or multiples is to bring a tracker and just clear the entire area north of the giant fort until either he or Entalon spawn and then WAIT for everything else to finish respawning. Once you down Entalon simply wait 2mins 52 seconds and down the next thing that should have spawned in your track list. Continue following this cycle and you should shortly have your Dragon Scale. ALTERNATIVELY you can down each mob one by one and if they respawn faster than 1min 10 seconds they are not part of the cycle and can be safely ignored, moving to the next mob until you find the correct cycle time.

Was in BW tracking this guy down. He does indeed still spawn. Various spawn points north of the giant fort. N.W. corner of zone (as far West as zone wall, and East about as 1/3 to midway across the zone) Have not seen a him or any PH spawn south of giant fort. Timer is about 2 min 45 sec,(give or take a few sec due to auto update on tracking) not 5-7 min quoted in other posts.

PH's were mostly:
Sarnak extremist/champion/enthusiast
Greater plague/warbone skellies

ocasionally:
forest giant ancient
moldering gorilla

I have camped Nez and Phur for 3 days now. I have 26 defeats on Nez and Phur combined. To say they are stingy with the embers, is putting it lightly.

I got 'Red Wurm Gut' coming out my ears 8-P

This camp is taking way longer than what I predicted, so plan to spend some time here.

Burning Embers DOES drop off Glowing Gylton

After spending two weeks on the north side of the giant fort hill, defeating Entalon 100 times and Gylton 60 times, Gylton finally dropped the embers.

When the embers dropped, Gylton was defintely glowing (an orangish pulsing glow eminating from his main body).

I have heard that glowing will only occur if /dynamiclights are turned "on" - mine were.

I started camping Gylton as a 54 mage and the air pet. Tagging with Elemental Maelstrom, I lured the Gylton/Entalon back to the giant fort hill (to avoid adds). DS on pet and a couple more DOTs, a couple pet heals (with TEF) made defeating him a cake walk.

The spawn time was roughly 5-7 minutes between Gylton/Entalon (Entalon being the PH for Gylton - spawns more often).

The spawn points were at the base of the giant hill (on the north side), the hills facing the northside of giant fort behind the white pillar, and on top of the hills across the road (which are out of view from the giant hill - so one has to run up there occasionally if no pop is occurring).

Good luck!

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 08 2002 at 8:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am a 45 druid with es vambracers and soloed this guy easily. I was walking along trying to find the guy u talk too to start the druid epic when i saw this guy on track. he was blue so i decided to go for it and i soloed him with 50 mana just rooting and drones of dooming him with my es vambs. He is very resistant to fire, but can be easily killed if u just snare, root, dot, and repeat untill he is dead. Hope this helps.
