In the Tower of Frozen Shadow: Part of the fifth encounter within the Tower of Frozen Shadow anniversary raid (see this quest entry for raid information).

In Karnor's Castle:

The Main items in his loot table are the Leggings for the various Kunark Class specific armor, as well as a line of two handed blunt staves for casters.

Background: Venril Sathir was the leader of the Iksar Empire who united the five tribes and brought them together to conquer most of the continent of Kunark.

Their rising power eventually attracted the attention of the Lords of the Ring of Scale (read: the Dragons of Veeshan's Peak). It was the mighty Trakanon who took it upon himself to wreak war upon the Iksar Empire, casting down this Necromancer leader.

Venril Sathir managed to cheat death somehow and now focuses on regaining the Iksar throne from his stronghold in Karnor's Castle.

ive been checking his spawns for about a week (the real and the remains cos i have friends who would kill real for me hehe=P)
he spawns its announced in auction get 65 pally to hill him and the 54 druid whos alreayd there.... pwned in under 2 mins cos the pally was critting in the 5k.. he dropped teh two stones and sum bones =)i get my elaborate shimmy soon woot =)))))))))))))))

Does anyone know the respawn on the real VS. I tried killing him about 45 minutes ago but another group got to him and downed him first. The piece for the wizzy epic didn't drop, but I don't know when he's due to spawn again. Any info would be nice. Thanks.

we cast a total of 3 complete heals, MT was never below 77% life (out of about 8k)
MR is a must, everyone should drop all hp buffs so that the 1500 lifetap wont feed it back more health. happy hunting ;)

Lifetaps ALWAY heal for the full amount (unless it's partially resisted) regardless of the target's hp. So keep your hp buffs.

VSR does spawn 11-12 hours after VS is taken out he also spawns 6-10 hours after 1st VSR is taken out after that is the 24 hour period to spawn a VS rinse and repeat for crap lewts

i believe he has to be killed then VSR will spawn 24 hours later....i think its 1 day..but dont quote me on it, but yes he has to be killed first

I think Venril Sathirs remains spawns 12 hours after the actual Venril Sathir is slain. Not sure but i know it is less then 24 hours

ok about 2 days ago our guild did a pick up raid on VS...we were all actually in PoH at the time when we heard that he was up, so having 2 wizzies with us and several droods that need vsr to pop we ran and did him. He didnt turn out to be that difficualt...though we had about 14-18 ppl or so. VS has 2 personal clerics, i would recomend that u just ignore then...they didnt seem to make a difference with us. here is how things went, to the best of my knowlage...i am a wizzy, so i didnt catch everything bout the chanters and melees. we had a 60+ necro pull him, then our 65 pally tanked him. our chanters were casting chain rune, and slowing VS...i believe it takes a total of 3 slows to fully slow him. our clerics were all chain cast CH on MA, and other melees as needed. all melees jumped into fight when he was about 97% or so...by that time our MA had plenty of aggro...then they chopped away. at 50% the rest of us jumped in...all casters kicked his ***. i am a 55 wizzy and he resisted every wave of my rain (i used it for ***** and giggles), u used my lures, believe he resisted maybe 1 of them...but use fire and ice spells he isnt as resistent to them. in short he wasnt that hard, but we had a good amount of ppl with us rangeing from lv 52-65...most were low 60's or mid 50's. hope this helps i guys

Yes, VSR drops 2 RNG/DRU stones as well as Blackened Bones every time.

dark conquest of al'kabor is currently trying to take down VS, his lifetap is a *****. if you have pet classes have them attack from the BACK since he will life tap off riposted on them. pets of course hit very frequently, and each one is just another life tap check. same for other melees not tanking. make sure chanters have plenty of rune up. our tank had 401 svm and it didnt seem to make a difference.

Wrong. Lifetap is a Magic effect, has nothing to do with either Poison or Disease. I have an SK AND a Necro, and the check has always been Magic

I had a group that took him down in a matter of mins we had 5 people (65 necro, 65 Bst, 50 monk, 65 cleric, and 47 druid). We almost took him down with just the druid, necro, and Bst. He was down to 37% life when we all died.

Could not Edit the above, GRRR!

There is a book called The Dark Truth Vol. 7 involving Tserrina and the only other NPC link I could find is Tserrina Syl`Tor (from the text in the book) ... not too sure if anything significant occurred involving the book and these NPCs, but it is interesting to read.

Anyone know if anything happened involving any of this?

I have a question about this tool. After you kill VS (the real one) 12 hrs later his remains spawn. you do the hand in whoopty doo.....it says his remains spawn at 12 and 24 hrs after the real VS is dead...so is it possible for someone to do the hand in in 12 hrs and kill the gympy VS, then at 24 hrs? for another gympy VS? or does the turn in reset him? thanks in advance.

This morning at 4AM VSR was killed by a 65 Beastlord, a 56 druid and a 55 druid on the Cazic-Thule Server. There was no one else other than these three involved in the battle and these three made it to him by themselves.

Just to clear up any confusion, the versions of VSR mentioned here, primarily VS and VSR, have nothing to do with the Iksar Shaman Cudgel Quest #8. That version is completly different. Different model (I submitted a pic of the cudgel version, he looks like Drusilla in HS), different loot table, and different zone.

Doh....You have to have "Blackened Iksar Bones" from VS for the 8th cudgel, so yes VS in KC is involved....he's just not the turn in mob....and he looks like drusila when spawned

The VS in HS isn't a turn-in mob either. He pops after handing the Iksar Relics to An Iksar Apparition. VS and Rile spawn on the Dias in the South room. Let VS kill Rile and then VS becomes targetable. Pull VS, kill him, and Rile pops again so you can do your final hand in.

Could someone PLZ give some clear, honest idea of a spawn cycle?? Every post about it says something different... for instance...a guild took VS on Fri night; I came back 72 hrs later to see the VSR (+/- 2 hrs)... we took out VSR, and now I am told in 24 hrs VS will spawn? Any truth to this??

Venril Sathir comes in two flavours... one is the "real" one that we need for our Wizard Epic, the other is a triggered spawn (aka "VSR") for the Rangers and Druids out there.

He is easily taken down by a single group if you set it up as follows, and they do not all need to be lvl 60+ ubers:

MA (SK or Paladin tank preferred, but anything works)
2 Enchanters
2 Wizards
Healer (Cleric, Shaman, Druid all work fine)

Afer all the usual buffs such as Haste and so forth, the strategy is to engage VS with your tank, and once the MA has decent aggro (only takes a few seconds), have the 2 chanters take turns chain casting Rune buffs on your tank. Venril Sathir has a nasty lifetap that he uses, but if you take that away from him, he is no big deal. Having the MA constantly Runed means that VS will only succeed in breaking the Rune buff... but will not actually get to tap your tank very much... if at all. And of course, once the buff has been broken, a half second later one of the chanters is going to re-buff the MA anyway. Using a pair of chanters (instead of just one) helps to balance the aggro each gets from constantly re-buffing, and makes it less likely that VS will divert his attention to one or the other of them.

This constant Runing will of course *still* draw some aggro to the chanters... or, it normally would, but since we are here with a pair of Wizards, just start blasting VS with your best nukes. He will go down fast with 2 Wizards nuking him. The healer is there simply to heal anyone VS happens to aggro upon other than the tank, or to do small heals on your MA.

I say "SK or Paladin preferred" for the MA simply because they can generally hold aggro better in a situation like this than a warrior can (pally can chain stun, SK can chain tap).

If by any wild chance you mess up, and VS manages to kill someone, just let them die. Healing them only heals VS when he taps them them again. You can either Evac, and rezz later... or just leave them dead and finish the fight. But you should have no such troubles if you follow the strategy above.

VS does not have many hit points really... I am not sure but I think it is around 14K or so. With two wizards chain nuking for 1000+ per pop, he is going to be a meatball in moments.

For months I waited and waited for an opportunity. Tonight, it was it.

A group of 12 peeps, average level 62 gathered in KC for my chance to loot the 1st of three staves. In "prep room" we buffed ourselves and decided to go for it with all raw mana power. 3 wiz, few mages, 2 tanks or so, we engaged Venril.

65 WIZ Manaburn'd VS, it droped to 75%. Tank jumped in, nukers... nuked. Fight last TEN SECONDS. I got my staff (1st attempt) and we rolled those : Blackened Iksar Bones, Lycanthropic Staff, Wild Lord's Trousers and another spell not listed : Mark of Karn.

There you go, just felt so happy, had to tell you so :) Kedge Keep, here I come...

Our guilds lvl 52 Ranger was able to camo into VS/VSR/VS(epic) room and VSR was up; it took about 15 to 20 minutes to pull 2 grps together to be "safe" on kill. Raid grp consisted of 65 Pally (MT), 63 Pally (SA), 65 Shammy (buffs/back up healer), 57 Shammy (grp 2 healer), 55 Warr (me), 55 Rng, 56 Clr, 55 Ech, 52 Wiz, 53(?) Warr, 54 necro and the 52 Rng. As last peep entered room VSR DESPAWNED and VS was up- conned DB to me. VSR on a 20 minute timer?
After a quick vote, it was decided to take VS down, so MT pulled VS into the main fighting area- cleric chain casting full heal on MT, both shammies adding in there heals, entire room attacks VS- I pull aggro as cries of "OOM" fill raid chat and MT has to lay hands on self to stay alive-
It was a wipeout, VS NEVER fell beneath 73% health and was chain casting 1500HP lifetaps faster than the cleric could /q. VS's aggro "jumped" from MT and ran through every member of the raid until all were dead-

I believe they have "upped" VS's level, anyone else had a problem with him? Fully buffed lvl 65 pally with almost 6000HP dead in 90 sec and he was the 3rd to die? Just a bad VS day?

Well, revenge will be forthcoming- amy ideas that I may try?

umm...65 pally fully raid buffed with 6khp? i think thats a problem in itself, as a 64 bard with 9 aa's not even near anything related to hp i have almost 6khp raid buffed, and this is my main so i'm not uber...Also..from wut i've heard, chanter chain rune'ing helps. i know this is old post but i had to type this. i hope all went well on 2nd attempt.

We had 3 attempts in a row on him and all falures.I think it was because we only had 2 groups and highest lvl was 57(our tank)

The ae range on his LT is very small. casters stay on opposite side of him. the hard part is his single LT 1500 which procs every hit but that can be helped by having a 65 shammy slow him. he also has about 32k max hp but between the LT and the regen he has, it seems like alot more.

Its good to have a pally or war for tank and a an sk for back up tanking. ur DPS must be higher then his LT healing which is not to hard.

Ur best bet is to have a wizzy with aa's call of xuzl to use from start and and MB which u use at 40%. the SK should HT at around 50-55%. i would suggest having the melee fite around him in circles so they dont get proced on.

GL to anyone who gets it. we ended up failing 3 times and gave up and sum1 else came in and he ended up dropping wizzy epic piece . =/

Ok, just helped a wizard in our guild take him out today. We had about 20 people in the raid. Main tank was a 65 Warrior.

Our strategy was this. WArrior pulled him into the big open room. Had casters against the west wall, on the balcony. All meele in the pit. Chain casted Rune on the warrior to absorb VS's atttacks. Everyone else just smacked away. Casters started dropping bombs on him at 60%.

He doesnt have that much Hp, and went down quick. His main strenght is his high regen, his two guardians that can heal him, and his 1500hp lifetap he procs every hit. You really need to be able to put out a lot of damage quickly to take him out.

With 20 people, most lvl 55+, he was pretty easy. Had 3 deaths in the fight, me one of them, a 55sk. Somehow I got his aggro from straight meele, over our 65 Warrior. Have no idea how that could have happened, so possibly he sometimes attacks random people, and not just person with highest aggro.
