Lord Rak`Ashiir

Raid Encounter
Screenshot

Uploaded July 24th, 2007

Lord Rak'Ashiir is one of the Overlords of the City of Mist. He spawns from the last corpse of his elite Black Reavers. He looks like a huge floating ghost Iksar, but he was not undead. At least not then.

Only the quest-respawned version drops the Iksar Scale for the shaman epic.

If people on your (progression) server kill tons of reavers and never kill Lord Rak, then there may be tons of them in close proximity to each other. If you pull 1 around others that are up, they will add, and you will get multiple stacks of Flamesong, and you will die a horrible death. Truespirit faction mobs assisting each other!!!

Best to see if you can target the upstairs black reavers instead, bring them to an area away from the other Lord Raks, pop your own solo version, and do your turn in there.

did the fight for our guildie shaman tonight on the Mangler server. when he gets down to like 50% he will start casting Healing Touch. if you can, have your guys mana drain him to prevent him from healing up. he was pretty easy to kill, but the fight lasted a lot longer with the heals. we had 3 clerics, 2 enchs, paladin tank, monk, bard, magician, and a druid. we were all mid 50s, paladin wasnt taking much damage outside of the 800 aoe. clerics were getting kinda low from healing the others though, because the fight took so long.

TL;DR - He heals. Mana sieve / mana drain his ***.

Extremely resistant to magic, with all my Shaman debuffs NONE of my DOTs would stick at 63. My merc and Pet just whittled them down.

How to spawn Lord Rak`Ashiir
# Aug 27 2014 at 11:09 AM Rating: Decent
How to spawn Lord Rak`Ashiir, here is how it works (with keys and everything)

1) Kill a Captain of the Guard. There are 9 of them in different locations and their spawn rate is around 10 minutes.
2) Loot the Stone Key and use it to open the last Temple/Building where you find the first Black reaver.
3) The first Black reaver will spawn a series of 2-5 other Black reaver and the last one will Spawn Lord Ghiosk
4) You need to go up the elevator but you need the key to do so.
5) At the back of his room, open one of the doors, go to the right and follow the looong narrow path until you reach another door.
6) Just before this door there is a secret wall to the right, this leads you up to the top level of the city (the air level)
7) First house needs no key, just go thru it.
8) Second house is locked so you need levitate, step up on top of one of the white pillar fence blocks and levitate over to the other bridge, that door is open. There is no key for this door, so unless you have a rouge with picklock, just levitate across and go in the back.
9) Third house is tricky.Again there is no key for this door so use Rouge or use /target what_ever_is_inside, /pet attack and /pet back to get the Reaver out. You can also use Mage eye or you can use mount or bearform to stick your head inside the door and glitch thru it (I did that). When you step inside, watch out for the lower fake floor so you dont fall thru.
10) Kill the Black reaver, he will spawn of 2-5 other Black reaver and the last one will spawn Neh'Ashiir who have the elevator key
11) Kill Neh'Ashiir and loot Key of Torsis (Elevator Key) - this key is TEMPORARY!! So if you log off it will be gone and you have to do it all again!!
12) Go back to the Temple Building and stand on the elevator. With key in hand, right click the elevator.
13) Upstairs are several black reavers who spawn more black reavers. Kill them all and the last one will spawn Lord Rak`Ashiir !!!

7/8/2013 take down...
# Jul 09 2013 at 8:27 PM Rating: Decent
downed him last night 7/8/2013.. no need to pull him down. Fighting him in his room works fine. my 61 shammy , aided by 71 mage / merc. he popped on the stairs and got aggro from someone (pets or merc). I ran to the far side of the room (noticed I was OOR of the Flamesong of Ro he cast). Camped and came back, mage did the same while merc tanked him. Once they were gone, he was non aggro again and I got in place to hand in the child's tear. soon as the mage logged back in, I handed him the tear and the merc / pet went to work. I backed off to the far side of the room and never got hit by his AE.... pet and merc never needed a heal.. they smoked him in less than 2 minutes. figure he had about 28k hps.... could be easily done by 1 group in their 60's I'd think. AE is 850 per tick if you do get hit by it. While the AE might fill his little room, it does NOT fill the landing /w 2 sets of stairs as you enter his area (where the elevator brings you to). so caster's / healer's and ranged DPS can attack from there in relative safety.
Post useful info please

So many posts on this page and absolutely none of them are useful. Come on guys. Post relevant crap. "I killed him on x day" is not helpful to anyone. How do you get to all of the reavers? what are their spawn times? etc. Don't force people to read crap for 20 minutes to find out zero new information
Easy Molo for lvl 63 Shaman.

The hardest part of the shaman epic is now the Lord Ghoisk because he is now the Fabled Lord Ghoisk. Fabled lord Ghoisk casts freeze which locks u in place unable to move for 1 1/2 min.

Lord Rak barely put up a fight and I never was hit by AE. Once I turned in child's tear he went down in about 1 min or so. Fabled Lord Ghoisk was way harder to sneak by because he aggros through the wall behind where the Black reaver spawns.

When you go up the elevator (holding key of torsis on cursor or using a rogue still works) there are 4 reavers (one at the top of the stairs in the entry lobby and three more in the room at the back) and a couple of ghosts infront of the stairs in the lobby (like phantoms or wraiths, I think).

The following is with a 66 beastlord and 67 shaman, equipment is only defiant gear and with 100ish AAs per char.

The first reaver was pulled by the beastlord and downed, then from the left hand corner of the entry lobby (on top of the stairs), the beastlord pulled the reaver on the right hand corner of the back-room, who also came with the reaver on the left hand corner.

When those reavers were downed they both popped phantoms from their corpses and that was it. After this the beastlord pulled the final reaver (who was standing at the back of the back-room) to one side of the entry lobby (down the stairs) and straight after that, Lord Rak popped.

We were both high on HP and mana, so the beastlord moved right next to Rak and I did the tear turn-in. Rak immediately aggroed me and the beastlord grabbed aggro back while I moved to the other side of the lobby.

The beastlord had 360 SV Fire and I activated the veteran AA for 500+ SV Fire, neither of us got hit by the AE (I think I was out of range, not totally sure) but both of our pets did (and one cast of Trushar, 600+ HP HoT fixed that). The AE is a 1 tick DoT, in that it hits initially and then again in the next tick, damage is quite high on pets if you don't watch out for it.

Lord Rak hardly hit the beastlord in melee (I only cast my HoT twice and he could easily have healed himself instead) and died pretty fast from the beastlord, his pet and my pet as DPS (no DoTs or nukes were used, only melee and spirit of leopard on all).

Fight ended with both of us high on mana and HP, I think the beastlord would have soloed him without any trouble at all.

We took him down today without meaning to. Were after jade reaver for druid and ended up getting him. This is NOT a raid force mob. This is not even a group force mob. get a 65+ melee class to help, decent gear, with cleric buffs and a DS and your good. two people easy. Confirmed that he is NOT undead despite the looks. He dropped 3 books, that listed as shammy epic, and a yekesha blade.

Did the turn in to the "The Fabled Rak' Ashiir" and he spawned the shaman epic version. I did not use any other additional faction modifiers and did the turn in's up to the wolf in EJ till I had the message that my faction with true spirit could not get any better.

Turn in done on BB server by Wood elf ranger with max ally faction.
Did 2nd MQ for another shaman with Dwarf Cleric, Max Ally faction.
I am guessing if you can get the faction done that any class can do the turn in.
Please rate this post.

Can use Sneak if behind the quest giver in butcherblock and in Freeport to turn in the gem. Doesn't take many (50 or less?) to get to max ally faction and the best part is you faction never takes a dive cause it's only on the final turn in that you take the negative faction hit.

If you can't sneak, get a chanter to help you the first time. Have the enchanter make a pet out of the "lesser spirit" in butcherblock so your faction becomes indifferent. Say "I wish to know more" to get a "tiny gem" Then turn in the gem to the guy in freeport but DO NOT hit trade. Have the enchanter invis you so you faction becomes indifferent. Hit trade and your all set to do on your own.

killed the named by using just basically just burning him down with nuks, sting of the queen.casted 1 dot, vengance of ahnkaul.
Thats about it.he does cast on ya but i resisted all spells with high 200's resists.Dosnt really have many hp's. but does cast a heal on himself.Cant believe he is listed as a raid mob.

I wonder...Did you turn in the tear before you started killing him? as far as they said,he becomes much tougher. And btw,it's probably listed as Raid encounter because it WAS raid encounter, but nowadays with all the ubber items,AAs,etc...Anyone at your level with "Decent" gear should be able to solo it (at least the Non-epic version).

Btw,if you know something about how to fight this guy:what's he resistant against or not,how much he hits for,etc then inform the ignorant please (I'm 1 of the ignorant).

Just soloed with a level 70 Beastlord for my friends shaman, was piece of cake. It spawned after turn in and attacked shaman, stuck my pet on it and healed every once in awhile and eventually pet beat it to death.

Resisted all my cold and magic based spells though. 850dmg dot still hurts =)

Soloed easily with 65 mage 40 AA's with some QVIC gear and MS4 pet. The only hard part was that I aggroed all 3 reavers at once. Lord Rak`Ashiir went down easily only used mend companion once and nuked the rest of the time. Dropped the shield.

Ok well after reading posts about the Child's Tear being MQable as long as you have MAX ally faction with true spirit I decided to MQ this for my shaman alt.

After tons of turn ins from the dire pelt I got my true spirit faction maxed out, and was ready to do the turn in to Lord Rak Ashirr. Then when i turned in my tear to him he said that he has no need for this and gave it back.

SO NO THIS IS NOT MQABLE BY ANY CLASS OTHER THEN SHAMAN so dont waste your time like I did

I think that the turnin needs to be done by a SK if you MQ it, as they have True Spirit for their epic as well.

Soloed him this morning. Qvic/Time/MPG geared 70 shammy (10k hp/8.5k mana). I got cocky because I beat the non-epic version last night. Epic version is much much tougher. Epic version's ae went off a lot more often and apparently perfectly magic resistant.

Lame question
# Jun 29 2005 at 5:28 AM Rating: Default
With the new AA veteran reward that gives 500 all resists and 255 all stats, could I practically duo him with someone? Im 58 shammy. >_< .. Not well geared, and my main problem is that I never find a guild that helps me out on these.

(Got tear by some random person sending me tell that it's rotting on PoF unless I'd come pick it up...)

Edit: Uhh, with 500 resists the spell still got in several times. Not nice mob at all. >_<

Funny day ... I wanted to get Neh Ashiir killed for epic for my shammy by 2-boxing with my monk. But I had no rogue at hand so I tried "/pet attack a black reaver" in hope pet would grab the reaver out of the floating tower thingie. Pet replied he attacks but did not move. So i thought well try it from upstairs.

While I cleared to the castle door pet went poof and I thought oh oh. Had 3 black reavers on me got blinded, shammy felt in water, got aggro, blablabla but I managed to keel them. Lord spawned. Still did not realize that it was not Neh Ashiir I tried to turnin the ring but he gave it back. Well what to do, I killed him. Resisted all except one FlameSongOfRo. Was an easy fight.

So moral is. If you stand in front of door you can pull out the 3 reavers with pet and without the key but not Neh Ashiir it seems. Well atm rogue otw :)

Killed Lord Rak tonight using a 65sham and a 65ranger. The ranger had 6151hps, 1219ac, 1481attack, 203fr. The hardest that Rak ever hit the ranger for was 137. The shaman has ~4k mana, with FT11. I had c3 and virtue on both chars and then all necessary buffs from the shaman. The AE hit the ranger plenty of times, but Q was more than enough for healing. I didn't bother debuffing Rak at all I just kept Quiescence and Heals on the ranger as she needed it. Took a few minutes, but I was never in trouble. This was alot easier than I was expecting.

65 Monk and 65 Druid. No real special equipment... I had the druid sit outside of the castle by the door behind a pillar and pulled rak into the throne room and pummelled him into a corner. Druid never got hit by the AE once... I resisted his AE a few times with 237 svfire but it stuck for the most part. No problems at all, just need a healer and a monk and you can do him easily.

I made a map to show where we sat and pulled to etc in case some people would like to see:
