Lord Rak`Ashiir

Raid Encounter
Screenshot

Uploaded July 24th, 2007

Lord Rak'Ashiir is one of the Overlords of the City of Mist. He spawns from the last corpse of his elite Black Reavers. He looks like a huge floating ghost Iksar, but he was not undead. At least not then.

Only the quest-respawned version drops the Iksar Scale for the shaman epic.

First off you have to feign split 5 reavers to kill them all and get Lord Rak'ashiir to spawn. Second, the only 2 things on this guys Sh*t list should be 49+ warrior type mage fire pets and the clerics healing them.

Spells this guy casts:
Gravity flux
Complete heal (serious, saw it once)
Immolate (2000dmg AE 0.5 second casting proc)
And various other wizard spells appropriate for this guy's level. You need to kill this guy close to where he spawned from the last reaver so that he doesn't gate when he get's low.

This guy has almost as high resists as a black reaver but a few lvl 60s that tash and malo him might be able to eventually get off a slow with help from call of hero to wipe their agro after a spell lands.

Dump tons of buffs on the fire pets and have your shaman turn in the iksar child tear and he will respawn as agro and attack the shaman. I think he only drops the 'scale' for the shaman epic quest when you kill him after turning in the tear so you should probably make sure to do everything else in your epic quest before doing this part. He might give you the scale before agroing though, that part is unclear to me.

This is the last guy for the shaman epic quest and is equally challenging. Typical levels that should try for this guy should be in the lvl 55 range like all other epic quest mobs.

Anyway, remember that you have to kill 6 different reaver spawns, ghiosk, and this guy and you should be fine. I wouldn't even attempt going after this guy without like 12 or so lvl 55+ guys.

This guy drops the atrementous shield as rare, and ornate rune blade as common. I think he drops lvl 55+ spells too but not common enough to bother killing him if you don't have a shaman doing their epic with an iksar child tear in hand.

Good luck shamans, just wanted to help you out =)

Dubious?

This guy conned dubious to me a 52 erudite necro, and was no kos to any or our 20 50+ people on a CoM raid. Also, he conned warmly to a couple of our shamans. They told us he was for their epic quest. Another person said we had to kill it if we wanted to pull the black reaver. So, we gave it a shot and everybody except 5 people died. Total resist to all spells cast by everyone except for one spell....which saved the 5 people. The aoe took everyone down that was trying to hit him. We did about 10% damage before one of the encs got memblur off. So, in short if you aren't there to kill him then don't bother.
IT is AE
# Aug 28 2000 at 1:46 PM Rating: Default
It is an AE. It is Fire Based. It is about 1800 dmg over 3 ticks. BUT you can use Bashes to stop the casts.

Took him down last night on VZ with 20 ppl 49+. He dropped the Atramentous Sheild.

It's actually more like a Bard Song than a AE spell :)
Loot.

This guy drops Ornate Rune Blade and Ornate Rune shield right? with the shield the rare?
RE: Loot.

Wrong. Lord Nek'ashiir drops the Shield, not Rak
be prepared

I saw 4 45+groups go down in under 2minutes, if you are not prepared for the 2k AoE(multiple times), You better hope the other lord spawns.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 30 2000 at 7:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was on a CoM raid with a buncha others a few nights ago, and a ranger with us by the name of Tenian told us how to take him down, and it's to kill the first reaver... then before the second reaver dies, have everyone but 1 "sacrifice" tank and multiple fire pets run away from there... then it's a matter of using a cleric, mages, and other stuff (I don't remember the whole plan... after this guy wiped us out when we accidentally killed the Reaver that spawned the Reaver that spawns him it was 2 in the morning when Tenian came back from LD and was describing it) to kill him... if I can remember it all I'll come back and post it :)

Our guild killed him with one warrior tanking him and about 3 clerics healing that warrior. We had our enchanter mana sieving him, and he didn't cast after he was at half health (he didn't try to gate). The warrior was fully buffed with fire resists, magic resists, cleric/shaman HP buffs, damage shield and enchanter speed.
Forgot to mention DS

You forgot to mention Damage shield and summoning. ONLY things that should be on this guy's sh*t list are fire pets. You have to time he recast time on his damage shield and pull about 5 seconds before he recasts it. I don't think thats any ordinary fire shield. Took a monk out in a round because of it and his vocerate and monks have high fire resist.

Dump rune and cheals on pets, talisman, full buffs, whatever you can get on the fire pets. By the time you are done with this they will have about as much ac and attack as a lvl 50 ranger, so you can comfortable dump cheals on pet when it gets to 25%.

I would actually recommend bringing 3 lvl 55 mages but even the 49 pets will work if you know what you are doing and be very patient before actually attempting to kill him.

The first cleric that dumps a cheal will probably get agrod on so just try to keep the pet that is getting hit the most alive for a few minutes before dumping a cheal.

This guy also does gravity flux, so if you have a shaman in the raid have the shaman keep dumping resist magic and resist fire on the pets. About all we're good for on this guy. Too high to cast on, and if you do he'll kill ya in a minute tops.

Keep them fire pets all buffed up and resistable and dont cheal for a couple minutes into the fight. Might want to have an enchanter keep dumping swift like wind on pets if it gets dispelled. I dunno if this guy procs a dispel like most hard mobs his level.

Good luck, and if you cant get mages WITH fire pets, DON'T attack this guy. He killed 18 people from our raid. and the fire pet stayed alive longer than anyone else.

Mandicus gets vocerated by flame.
/gu can someone get my corpse to zone?
I assume you mean lvl 55 Decoy pets...
# Oct 26 2000 at 7:13 PM Rating: Default
Which looks like firepets, but can be mistaken for the vocerate fire pet, which is a weak caster pet, not a good tank...
56... its 56
# Apr 10 2001 at 6:13 PM Rating: Default
The 55 pet is a low low hp pet that hits for 85 and dies after the mob is dead. Much like the cleric and wizard "pets"

The Decoy is 56.

On Rodcet, this guy was killed by just 2 fire pets. It took a while though.

Before, when I read it, I thought they were just exagerating.. but we fought him last night, I was buffed to only 2500 hp.. but he took me down in about 4 second (not kidding) his AoE does about 2k hp I believe, it's fire based.. after we failed horribly... we got 5 52+ magicians to come... they all got fire pets up.. we were planning to send the pets to drain his mana first.. but the plan went wrong when a stray pet tried to attack him too soon.. after he killed the pet he went after us while 4 pets was trailing behind him doing minor dmg... this SoB is tough... (btw we had around 3 groups of 46-55
Leave this guy alone...
# Jun 19 2000 at 3:11 AM Rating: Decent
I watched as he took out 25 people, levels varying from 35 to 52, in about a minute. He has a fire based DoT that does around 2400 damage, the only thing that could resist it was the fire elemental pet, so they tried again with just the pet attacking, they got it down to about 10% life, and it Freaking GATED. It then began summoning people and killing them. It wasn't pretty...

EQ needs the D&D spell silence.. hell it could even be single target rather than AE. Of course I'm sure this isn't going to be part of The Vision(tm) any time soon.
RE: Owie
# Feb 13 2001 at 8:14 AM Rating: Default
Heh, EQ does have the spell Silence...and it IS an AE.

But of course, only NPC's can cast it :D
ACK, not a deathtouch
# Jun 18 2000 at 1:42 AM Rating: Decent
it seems as though i remember reading that a single group of high level people killed this guy, that or some other guy like him, but whatever the case i guess verant decided that a single well organized group of below 60 people shouldnt be able to take this guy and gave him the Death Touch. oh well.
Death Touch dot
# Jun 05 2000 at 9:08 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, he has one. When we fought one, he chain cast his death touch dot - at first I thought it was AE because two players died at almost the same time... it was when I scrolled back I saw he cast twice. So it probably is near-instant casting.
