Trakanon

<Club Fu> On Bristlebane killed Trakanon with one group, though from what i've heard there were 2 other groups ready to take over if they failed.

Quite an achievemant.

That would be cool if it weren't total BS! One group cannot take trak, it isn't going to happen, ever. 32k hp takes awhile for a single group to hammer down, and the warrior of the group would need aggro the entire battle. To bad Trak teleports people to the shroom area cause thats where that warrior is going. In addition Trak also now randomly procs a 1500 lifetap (same as VS). Nice story though.

I think it could be done, FoH on my server has beaten the AoW with a mere 38 people. I think they are more than capable of destroying trak with a single group. Just my two cents

Great example of mud-flation. Trak is now soloable, even by a Warrior for God's sake!

Don't ask me why I'm replying to a two year old post :)

Having run a dozen trak raids here's my info to add. Trak has a nasty AoE, each second it does 25 damage. The goal is to quickly kill Trak before the poison kills your raid. Trak can be done with 20 level 60 players or 30+ level 55+ players. I try to set up groups like so, two tanks, one bard, two clerics, one pally in the MT group, same thing in the second group. Everyone else fends for themselves with balanced groups.

The most common way to pull trak. Have a monk in the lair to pull, have a second monk in the cave to tag the pull. When Trak/Prot are in the back, first monk single pulls Juggs to the bridge then FDs. If the pull is good as in no Trak/Prot together then have the second monk finish the pull to camp. In the end you should get the Prot single into the cave. If you do get trak in the cave then kill him quick as he will gate.

Lastly when you're done pulling the juggs between Trak and the cave you rush Trak. Send in the first two groups then everyone else a few seconds behind. Have melee use offensive disc at 70%, chain nuke at 50%. The trick is finish off trak quickly - do not send in waves as that tactic just gives his poison dot that much more time to do damage.

Do you know hiw long it took to kill him?

OK me and my 3 cleric friends where on our way with about 10 warriors , 5 wizzys, 3 druids, 3 chanter, another 15 paladins and SK's plus 7 rogues how didn't even get to BS, 2 shammys, 2 monks, 4 necros, 2 rangers, and 5 mages. Most of us were level 55+. Do you know how many revivineces I was giving out per minutes? About 2 and that didn't include healings. It took forever to get this guys down. He hits way to hard and can reach too far to measure. He also has some of the most painful spells to ever feel. But after we got him down he had some good loot. So maybe it was worth it.

hehe, i'm not surprised you guys had some much trouble or got wiped out a few times. i don't see any bards listed on the classes that attended. do not underestimate the power of bards' resist songs on such raids. if you had a few bards, i'm sure your encounter would've been a lot more pleasant. ^_^

Trouble? No trouble. I went to on my 3rd Trak raid last night. This is the raid where I got the Singing Steel Breastplate. It was no trouble at all. We cleared the lair, did minor group buffs, and charged. We had 2 bards. Trak found the floor in 11 seconds and no deaths. We are not the biggest and highest level guild on the server, but we are tring.

What we did for Trakanon
# Jan 27 2002 at 12:28 AM Rating: Excellent
My guild, Bellatoris, on the Tholluxe Paells server, just took Trakanon down tonight. He dropped 2 Cloaks of Piety, and 3 teeth.

Here is the tactic we used to kill him:

Clear all the Juggernauts around him, including the ones in his lair. Our puller did this without aggroing Trakanon, so it can be done. Tolapumj was left until after we finished Trak off.

The first wave of people we sent in were somewhat of sacrifices. We sent in a chanter to Tash him, a druid to dispell, and a shadowknight to center him in his lair. Positioning trak in the middle of his lair is important so that Tolapumj does not add during the fight. This first wave was sent in for the above reasons, as well as to take the first wave of his AE.

Yes, Trakanon does banish people out of his lair, not sure where, but expect to have to corpse summon those who are banished after the fight. He also blinds, but it doesn't appear to be AoE. I was within his AE range during the entire (short) fight, and I was never blinded.

After the first wave of AE was triggered, we then sent in the melee and clerics to start working Trak over. Casters stayed behind at this point. After Traks second round of AE (the tanks established aggro during this time), the casters came in and started to nuke Trak down, dumping as much mana as possible at that time. He has only 32k hp, so it's not a long fight.

His Poision AE does about 1500 damage a pop, and his dot sucks. More people died after the fight than during. Clerics may want to keep abolish poision memmed as well as Word of Vigor for curing poison. One shot of abolish poison cured targets I was able to save.

Other than the positiong of Trak and sending in the three waves mentioned above, standard Naggy tactics apply.

Trak needs a little more atk, AC and a lot more resists than Naggy. You will need standard Naggy tactics. Make sure that your PR, DR and MR are high! Find someone with the highest atk with all buffs possible. So give the tank a DS to pump the aggro to him. So have the tank surrounded by clerics and let him tear away Trak and constantly heal him. Then move people around trak with high ATKs as well. So give it about 1 min. of a beating and have the people surrounding Trak attack, but if they are attacked CAMP! If not begin to release a barrage on Trak. Just beware all his spells!

TOTAL RECAP OF IMPORTANT INFO
(this post contains references to other posts, just do a find for the poster's name to find the original)

This should help people trying to find info on Trak, and is intented to spur discussion. Please reply if you have anything you feel needs to be added. :-)
-(self-appointed) Incantator Drak[oran] d`Aerekast
chanter, Povar

I put a double asterisk (**) next to important things to note.

<>=/\\//\\/------------START--POST---------------/\\//\\/=<>

The poster "(Scholar) Dread Lord Gudeldar" did a great job on posting the effects of Trak's breath attack. Here are the important stats:

Gudeldar says, "Thats 1500 dmg every minute [from DoT]..." **

[Effect Name:] Poison Breath
Adding 9 Poison counters **
DoT for 750000 Hit Points (HP) in 5000 ticks
Decrease Current Hitpoints by 1200 (L1) **

Skill: Instantaneous
Area Effect Range: 300 feet **

Spell Duration: 5000 ticks (500.0 minutes)
Duration Formula: 11
Recast Delay: 35.0 seconds **

Spell cast on you: A green mist seeps into your skin.

>> Why don't you have the guild shamen make antivenom potions?
It would help a lot... does any shaman know the component
cost of an antivenom, and how many poison counters it removes?
>> Also note the nasty 1.2k hp DD... if you aren't hp buffed, you're
screwed it seems. :-)

|----------[Recap of Mazot's Post (on poison):]

Mazot said that Trak has a tendency to transfer aggro to
the shroom king room. **

Mazot states he had 300+ PR (thanks new Luclin bard song). **
"His poison still ate me up two of the three times."
"One time only I completely resisted the poison. I didn't die,
but was reduced to frantically binding wounds ** to keep up,
since the clerics were dead or busy at the end of the fight."

"...the dying doesn't stop when [Trak] dies. People just keep
on keeling over." **

>> Should the guild clear the shroom king room first?
>> Remember that anti-poison song! :-)
>> A high bind-wound skill seems to help the individual person,
but _nothing_ beats a cleric on a Trak raid apparently,
so don't let them die (duh). Perhaps you may wish to keep a safety
cleric alt with FM for after the raid to heal poison.
Does anyone know how often clerics get aggroed on when fighting
Trak? Should clerics be dot healing, normal healing, or CHing?

|----------[Recap of Beric's Post (on adds):]

"Problem was more the juggernaut adds aggroing our clerics
than trac actually. We were prepared for 2 juggernauts and
had warriors designated to tank them while the rest of us
attacked trac. Screenshots indicate that at least 5 juggernauts
added."

>> Ew, that was nasty. :-( FYI Sebilite Juggernauts are lv54-58 and look
like big naked Iksar golems *Drakoran cringes*.
( link to mob: http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=4570 )

>> But... does anyone know what is the tendency to get adds
when fighting Trak??? What camps are nearby and is training a problem?

>> Why didn't the chanters mez or charm them onto Trak?! :-) That's what
I'd do. =P That would have allowed the two tanks and clerics to fight
Trak, while you are doing extra damage to Trak as well (a few k-hp)
via the charmed mobs, while the mobs absorb an absurd amount of damage.
>)

|----------[Recap of yoswamp's Post (on PR):]

"i've been three times. all with 257 sv poison. first 2 times i lived.
i have only resisted it twice, probably been hit 7 times. was lvl 58
at the time, level counts too. so to answer your question 250sv poison
minimum IMO."

|----------[Recap of 's Post (on killing Trak):]

"Next, sacrifice someone to take the AE poison for the first blast
then tank the ***** till its dead. If your casters get in the attack,
make sure they do it after the first AE.

I would recommend keeping them in the far back corner - NOT SITTING
DOWN (casters that is) and have only one tank near where he spawns
(maybe keep folks back near the bridge till first AE). once the AE
hits, call in the rest of your tanks.

5 groups, 55+ take him out pretty fast."

>> This post is FILLED with useful insight and some good info.
May I propose the idea of using a low lv alt to take the
AoE Poison? :-)

<>=/\\//\\/--------------END--POST---------------/\\//\\/=<>

Other questions that have been nagging me include: how much aggro does tash do to Trak? Can Trak be debuffed as well?

Also note that Trak has a lv60 chanter froglok assistant. Tolapumj ('jumpalot' spelled backwards) can be found outside Trak's lair with 2 Jugs according to ('sage') Mandicus Lifescourge, as posted under the Tolapumj forum. More info can probably be found there.

Tolapumj forum: http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=4572

Hope this helps and please post if you have any other useful info. :-)
Summary of Pages 2-7
# Jan 09 2002 at 10:09 PM Rating: Good
Sorry about the nasty-looking "&-lt; and &-gt;" s in the main post. It's a bug with the forums where they parsed for ampersands after they parsed for other odd characters. Also the posts were supposed to be indented... :-(

|-------------------- Pages 2-7 Recap:

* The anon guy who posted about how to kill Trak also says Trak's MR is high. Remember to tash him.
* Depa (pg2) mentions that Trak has an AoE blinding attack.
* An anonymous posting (pg3) says DMF is useful, and that there is a room near the bridge that is out of aggro. You have to clear everything near Trak before taking him on or else the raid will fail.
* Anon post (pg3) says Trak has 32k hp.
* Anon post (pg4) says Trak is on a 3 day spawn.
* Scholar AlaiArcmagi (pg4) says Trak 2khp-lifetaps.
* Anon post (pg4) says Trak is on... (you'll never believe it) Trakanon faction! So if you don't want to ruin your Trak faction, don't kill Trakanon!!! Also, Legion of Cabilis goes up. Poster also says Trak isn't undead.
* Some person named "Cheese" says that Trak has an AoE DT and an AoE teleport that sends you to a room of Myconids. Can anyone verify/flame this please? >)

|-------------------- Drak's Take:

After the first tanks go in to eat up the poison aoe, shouldn't the chanters tash and everyone nuke constantly before the next poison wave comes in? That's what I think; anyone have any reply to that? :-)

The average Trak raid seems to be a few groups of 55+s. Strategy mostly determines who wins and loses, though.

Anyone there?
# Jan 09 2002 at 11:33 AM Rating: Decent
I can't see that anyone here has mentioned Trak's tendency to transport the current aggro target to the shroom king room, which is worse than DTing imho.

The poison is crazy. I'm level 56, done three Trak raids (we've won all three times, btw), and had PR over 300 (thanks new Luclin bard song). His poison still ate me up two of the three times. One time only I completely resisted the poison. I didn't die, but was reduced to frantically binding wounds to keep up, since the clerics were dead or busy at the end of the fight. Weird killing Trak, because the dieing doesn't stop when he dies. People just keep keeling over.

He's not the toughest dragon maybe, but it's not an easy encounter.
What a waste of Time

OMG All these posts and not one provides any real information on tactics on how to kill trac. What a waste of time !!!!
My guild tried him last night, got him down to 10% before everyone was wiped out. Problem was more the juggernaut adds aggroing our clerics than trac actually. We were prepared for 2 juggernauts and had warriors designated to tank them while the rest of us attacked trac. Screenshots indicate that at least 5 juggernauts added. Would anyone who has killed the Trac care to comment on whether they had a similar experience or if all or at least a few more of the Juggernauts by Trac can be pulled (and how) prior to actually engaging Trac? Then maybe this string will actually become good for something.
