For those doing Hunter - I got this almost immediately just sitting around camping the rotting skeleton on Agnarr server. Didn't drop anything.
Tuff at 45, even con

A Necro (46) and I (45 Druid) took one on that conned even to me. Very MR and hard hitting. I got a couple nukes off while it was feared but once Necro had aggro I spent almost all my time healing Necro and Pet. Necro had some Fears resisted and we both had snare and root reisted. We took him down ok but it got close a couple of times. Hits Hard and Fast. Just my 2c.
Great pet

For bards, this guy ownz. Charm him and go kill 2-3 or more of his counterparts/spiders. He makes a GREAT pet. Just make sure you can run away without getting stunned if it breaks early
Solo

As a lvl 40 necromancer I can fear kite these without too much problem - just gets a bit hairy if darkness is resisted...

these suck

I really hate these fookers. Some of them still con dark blue at 51.

Ok, these may not be as tough as some of the drolvargs in KC, but they are probably close, hit hard, have alot of HP, seem to stun more than their little brothers. I have been kiting a ton in DL and these are about the only common spawns that I usually avoid. The kite is just too long for the XP you get from them. Small groups or lower level groups should probably avoid pulling these or the healers will be screaming OOM quite a bit sooner.

These critters con dark blue to me and I'm lv49. I usually leave them alone when I solo.

managed to kill one of these awhile ago as a 44 necro it was blue to me so i did stanard fear kiting it was pretty tough had darkness, VOS, boil, aystole, with the occasioal lifetap thrown in and my best pet (quads for 47 and hasted) beating on it, it still killed my pet cause of all the resisted fears but by the time that happened he was so low on health i just nuked him to death. i was suprised by the huge amount of hps this guy had

Forget what level these are, they are underconned like the drovlargs inside Karnors Castle. They have roughly 4.5k hp and have higher MR than their rager and gnasher counterparts. Expect a long fight with these unless you have some heavy artillery with your group (i.e. wizard, mage, twinked melee )
Sweet xp

I have seen a large number of Ravishing Drolvarg spawn and roam near the eastern ruins. Occassionally they roam across the North wall area. These mobs have big HP's but it' swell worth the effort as they are better xp than even the Ragers. As far as levels go i have seen a minimum of 100 ravishing Drolvarg and none have been higher than 43rd level or lower than 40th. If higher ones have been seen they are ultra rare.
rager
# Jun 05 2001 at 12:01 PM Rating: Default
Bards/all other charmers: Charm a ravishing and have it attack a rager, can kill 2-3 ragers with one ravishing and then charm/wait until it wears off and get 100% for the ravishing...
ravishing + rager = 3/1
ravishing + gnasher = 6/1
ravishing + birds = 4-6/1

5minutes to kite with dots at 46 1/2+ blue

There are a few different types running around in the DL. Ravishing and Raviging and the the ones with drolvarg infront of the name and then some with it at the end of thier name. I will tell you these guys (useing the eq view program) they do have over 4k hps. There are weaker Drolvargs out there that do con even to lvl 41 or so...but these bad boys are very hard to kill. I am a wimpy *** Erudite Paladin lvl 52 and it took me a prayer to Quillious himself to win this battle. I was double hitting him for 142 with my Jaid Inlaid axe and he was kicking my butt. This guy left an imprint on my concious becuase all the druids and what not that can solo him with ease.

Level range is wrong
# Nov 30 2000 at 12:51 PM Rating: Decent
Last night I was fighting in an open-area group in the Dreadlands, and some of the *RAVISHING* Drolvargs that we fought (yes, I'm sure it's this same one) conned even to me at level 40.

The range lower limit should be 40, not 45.

The level range can vary alot gang..dont take it face value. I fought one with 3 other friends tonight and Im lvl 41 and it coned blood red to me. So I know it had to be at least lvl 44 or more. We did manage to kill it with much down time afterwards. This guy has more life than a feline. Anyway happy hunting and good luck.

As far as I remember, some ravishing were white to me at 41.
I *think* the correct level range is 39-41 but i am *sure* they can't be 44, nor 45.

Conned even to me at 44
# Jan 30 2001 at 12:24 PM Rating: Default
Ive been fighting these for a few levels now and at 43 they conned blue and yellow but since I've hit 44 I've never had a yellow con. They have been mainly blue and the last one we fought conned red to our 40 druid but even to me at 44.

# Aug 02 2001 at 10:42 PM Rating: Default
hes right they r max lvl 44 i think they were red and yellow and white at 41 - rarely blue. at 44 many were even and most blue. But at 45 they were all blue

You're all confusing these things with the ragers.

"a drolvarg RAGER" is not "a RAVISHING drolvarg." These DO reach as high as 45. Unsure of the lower limit.
Rav's are cake
# Sep 17 2000 at 1:26 AM Rating: Decent
Rav's are easy to to take down if you use the snare/fear combo. (Druid/Ranger ones are the best). Just try to get them down to 3/4 life, then fear them so they dont run so far. Just make sure to have someone call out the snares so you dont fear them first. They run very fast! And once they start to go too far just taunt it back to the group after its back to mobbing you. Nice things to have in your group are Mage pets that can stun and shamans to debuff them sensless. But i wouldnt waste much on Dots, nukes are perfect since it will be feared and not hitting you casters. With this tactic your healers will start to nuke since heals will be light. Im a 42 TSK and i have NP feraing them. Try to use the lower lvl fears so they cant go to far. 18 seconds is perfect and if you can stun them if they do run away to much.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are cake. At 45th with my wizard there is no way I could take him solo. However, now that I am 50th he should be a piece of cake to slay solo. Just be aware of his huge amount of HPs. In my mid 40s I could only get him to half with the majority of my mana.

I actually solod one of these bad boys as a level 45 shaman. It conned blue so It had to be less than 45. Hit for about 107 I think. (I have good ac so possibly more than that). After pet kiting this ******* for a while my pet eventually died and I had to root, med, root, med some more. Then finally when I had decent mana I would dot, root, med over and over. I did malise this guy, so its possible his magic resist would have prevented me from doing so well against him. Hell the only reason I lost my pet was that a passing drovlarg decided to join the party =) Another group thought it prudent to dispatch the new found friend so I could get back to work.

Anyway, if you are a caster, do not fear these guys so much. They have about as many hitpoints as ice giants, but they dont hit nearly as hard, and get hit by melee classes even easier than ice giants. So, if you are a 45+ caster, dont run immediately from these things. This poster is correct. If these things are truly level 43 to 45, they sure dont fight like it. They fight like they had downed some wuss pills. Although the fear kiting is a good way to dispatch any high level mob, I only suggest it when you have PLENTY of room. These things are even less threat to a full group of 40 to 45s. They are not much harder than their level 35 to 40 counterparts.

This beauty has around 4000 hitpoints. 5 Drifting Deaths + several roots didnt take him down.

I just parsed one of these. Logs show 4741 hp, more than 2x the hp of the gnasher/growlers and almost 2x the hp of the ragers.

I solo these with my 48 druid, and it takes SIX drifting deaths with a varying number of roots so this is roughly correct. They will beat you up in a BIG hurry when/if they break root too :(.

Uhhh..im 41..try kiting it..root sucks..ensnare..burn burn burn burn burn..its dead..Had one of these as a roamer by the Combines, and I just nuked it, forget DOTS..he's too tough for that.

Umm, you are on crack if you think at 41 you killed one of these SOLO. How did you manage that?
Please tell me!!! not sure you get any spells at lvl 39 mean enough to do over 4k hp...

But I guess thats just my opinion, nuff said.

I don't see it being impossible to solo at 41. My bard was able to *barely* solo these at 41. With tash stick, the snare/fears land much easier. If I didn't use it, they'd resist half my songs. Most of the mobs I can solo and bring down in 2 minutes but the ravishing dogs take about 6 minutes. IMO they are not worth the time and effort to bring down if you're soloing. I get 1 percent exp from any of the other dark blue mobs, which take 4 minutes less to bring down.

I killed the frost giant captain in Eastern Wastes at 41, and he hast like 8k HPs. Everything's possible, it just takes forever and a day. Though, 4k is easy

Hey ya know, Sarnaks are iksar lab rats gone bad, everything on Kanurk is like upgraded, Goblins look cooler, Giants scratch behind thier heads instead of thier ***... I was just thinking like.... Maybe this is a next generation kobold? kind looks like it.......
RE: Next generation kobold
# Nov 19 2000 at 12:56 AM Rating: Default
Actually they are werewolves rumored to be controlled by a high level wizard. At least that is what the NPC in the large white building in Firiona Vie says
RE: Next generation kobold
# Jan 24 2001 at 12:27 AM Rating: Default
Nah, they are Gnolls combined with Kobolds AND Werewolves perhaps. Other Drolvargs walk upright, like Gnolls and they SNARL (!!!!) like them. Look at their JAWS! Goblins are bigger and stronger and have armor now, so why not Gnolls?
RE: Next generation kobold
# Jan 29 2001 at 10:48 AM Rating: Default
Nah Drolvargs are indeed some kind of werevolves (Lycanthropes) by they are artificial made by Venril Sathir, they act as his shock troups and agents (because they can shape shift).
