Alright! This is how you're gonna get haste percents as accurate as you can. Start up eqlog (two handers are good, and this is best done with several different delayed weapons, weighted axe and other high delay weapons would work real well), find some monster to beat on, like river source in warrens or something, and hack away for a couple minutes (the longer you keep it up the more accurate this is). Then, put the haste item on, and hack away some more. Try it with several different weapons.

Now, go into your log file, and as you may notice the exact hour, minute and second are all recorded. Now find the start of your fighting, note the time and then how many times you swung your weapon and the end time; divide the number of swings by the number of seconds you fought for swings per second; do so for every weapon you used, with and without haste.

Now, subtract the number of swings per second without haste from the number of swings per second WITH haste to find the difference; now, divide that difference by the number of swings without haste to find out the percentage increase. Do all of this with every weapon delay you try, the more weapon delays the more accurate.

Now, simply find the average of all of those percentages (they should be very close to each other), and you won't have the exact number, but you will be VERY VERY close to what percentage increase in attack rate you're getting.

Fin.

ok, here is how haste stacks
Haste items (FBSS/Hangmans noose): Stack with Anything EXCEPT other haste items.
Haste Buffs (Celerity/SLTW): Stack with Haste Items and 2 high level bard songs (level 50 and i believe 59 {5% and 10%}) But DO NOT stack with most bard haste songs (Verses of celerity, Bezerkers Cresciendo) and DO NOT stack with any other haste buffs (Including ones cast by items such as Exe Axe)
Bard songs: The two mentioned above (5% and 10% haste 50 and 59?) Stack with Haste buffs/Haste items/the "normal" bards haste songs (Verses of celerity/Cresciendo/etc). Those "Normal" songs stack only with haste items and the "special" (5% and 10% 50 and 59?) songs.
Now if you arent confused... then you probably play an enchanter or a bard.

I went to TT and the Hangman was up but took a hour for my group to get there and when I was about to pull it, other group took him. In about another hour he popped again but that group beat us again.

Haste MATH
# Jun 21 2001 at 12:57 PM Rating: Default
Here's how haste is calculated.

I'm sure % haste is within this range on these 2 items. fbss is definitely faster than noose.

percent on fbss = 20-21
percent on noose = 16-18

New delay = old delay / 1 + (haste item % + haste spell %)

That's it. so a 40 delay weapon with fbss:

new delay = 40 / 1 + (.2 + 0) = 40/1.2 = 33.33

noose with 40 delay weapon

new delay = 40 / 1+ (.17 + 0) = 40/1.17 = 34.18

so basically you get an extra 10th of a second swing on a 40 delay weapon using fbss vs noose.

Max haste = 100%
Max hasted delay = 40 / 2 = 20.

There ya go.

Oh yeah. haste items do not stack.
You can only have 1 haste item and 1 haste spell
there is also 2 high level bard haste songs, dunno what they are called, but they will also stack for a 5% and 10% increase in haste. But in general it's 1 item + 1 spell.

So no you can't use FBSS in waist slot and hangmans noose on head. Otherwise, you'd see people walking around with RBG's on waist, CoF on back, and noose on head and maybe those new sporali haste gloves on the hands. They'd be at max haste all the time even without spells. hehe.

ya but unforunatly you cant max haste to 100%, why i dont know cause verant's an *** like that. you can only get haste to about 70 - 75% maybe lower. verant has stated this so im not just sayin what i think it is.

Having been in parties hunting rare cycles elsewhere, I can tell you for certain that (on Karana server at least) there are very few people willing to respect the forager/hunter cycle camps. We were /ooc'ing to the zone, giving away extra medallions when people needed Seb keys, and everything, yet a druid came storming in and bowled over Hangman, looted, and *destroyed the noose* because it was no drop, even while we were screaming that our warrior still needed a haste belt. Never seen anything like that, and all night we were fighting with other people and parties that just came zipping into the zone and trying to take them down.

So, be warned -- and please don't add to the problem.

I'm a 51 druid and i LOVE to be in groups. I dont like to solo, it's boring and slow. So when i group up with other druids that have been soloing for a long time, I can tell you they dont know how the heck a group should go and they sure as heck dont know how to play their part. I wont go into that any further ,but I'll have to agree with the others that there are a LOT of druids that are idiots like this one! So on behalf of that druid, I his fellow druid (i hate saying that) appologize for the retarded, pigheaded, selfish jerk. I feel for you guys, sorry that happened to you :-(

Druids who are respectful and kind to all seem to be the Exception, not the rule these days. They've gotten worse than necromancers used to be in my opinion. The fact that they can port only elevates their egotism and snobbiness. But Take away snare and they are nothing! Nothing! Muwhawhawhaw!

You actually think Wizards cannot solo? Have you never seen a Wizard quad before? I wish you people actually new what you were talking about before you make such stupid statments like that. You probably are a Wizard and don't even know how to play your class.

As for the Druid issue, all druids are not like that. However, I myself, a 53 Druid, have been KS'd by other disrespectful Druids, as well as many other classes. We all get KS'd by all types and classes. Don't be so short sighted as to nail it all on one class.

The facts:

The hangmans noose is dropped by the hangman in trakanons teeth. He looks like a giant erollisi mantrap.

He is around level 50. Was blue to a 52 ranger and 53 shaman, red to a 44 druid, so probably around level 50.

He is on the forager spawn cycle, NOT the hunter spawn cycle. He and a hunter were up at the same time after we killed a forager. Thus, if you are gunning after this item, you need not kill the hunters. We weren't killing hunters, and we were the only ones hunting the zone at the time.

Once up, I dont know how long till he despawns, but I can tell you that our first attempt resulted in all of us getting spanked, and I ran all the way back from FV to TT, looted, we medded up to full, and gave it another try, and he was still there. All told took us around 15-20 minutes for me to get back and med to full, so take it for what it's worth.

The item can be worn in the head or waste slots ONLY. I know it's ridiculous that it can't be equipped in the neck slot, but go figure. Given that most folks that want this item are (or should) be wearing an FBSS anyway (tanks that want to taunt via haste), it is a nice piece for the waist, adding the AC.

I have no idea if the haste on this is lower or not, and i don't give a rat's ***. As a ranger, I am an AC *****, but I also want haste for taunting and in general mob butt kicking, so this is a nice compromise until I get ultra lucky on a naggy raid or the gods smile on me in velious. My fbss is now a cash flow item, period.

The Hangman spawned just south of the lake/stream intersection. I have no idea if he always pops there or if is random, just telling you what we saw. He was an instant pop after killing the forager.

The hangman is straight melee, a warrior if you will. Several in other boards have said he's a hybrid. NO, he's not. He straight up hits for 120 max (accidently hit the sit button during the battle.....ouch :) ) He can double hit, has LOW delay on his hits, and has pretty tough AC. Myself, a 52 ranger with fairly (I stress the word fairly) high ac (930 self buffed) and a 53 shaman with high wiz gear were only able to bring him down with help from a 44 druid in our guild that came along just in time.

This guy is RARE. RARE RARE RARE, but each pop is an independent probability. One could go 3 weeks without seeing him pop, then have 3 pop in one night. I can tell you that in 40-60 hours of hunting in TT, I've seen this bad boy pop twice. Take it for what it's worth.

And finally, not to be a prick, this is NO DROP FOLKS! That means you CANNOT BUY IT. No drop by definition means it cannot be dropped, traded, or sold by the individual, it can only be used or destroyed. I LOVE the fact that it is rare and no drop, I like having an item few others have =).

Good luck to all those going after this item, it took me 11 levels after being ninja looted the first time I saw him pop at level 41. Be safe out there.

<<. Given that most folks that want this item are (or should) be wearing an FBSS anyway (tanks that want to taunt via haste), it is a nice piece for the waist, adding the AC.>>

Was this a typo? If you have the FBSS, why would you need to camp this? If you need AC, there are much better waist items than this. If you have an FBSS, the Haste is better. This is an alternative to the FBSS for those of us who don't have forever to beat out the casters on the rolls for them and cannot come up with 8kpp to buy one from the casters who win all the rolls on them. I personally think this is better for a Tank than the FBSS because of the AC. My weapons are pretty fast already, so I have no problems taunting (except against Monks and over-burning nukers). I will lose the 5 AC from the Strw Spun Belt, but The Extra Haste is worth it. With the FBSS, I would lose 10AC, which is quite a loss.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 04 2001 at 4:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It makes me sick to see another Ranger call himself an ac ***** or say ac is king ect. If you play a Ranger right you don't need any ac. I personally have 750 - 760 ac unbuffed and have never at the end of the night been called a mana spounge.
RE: Cantonine Feistywolf
# Jul 18 2001 at 7:33 AM Rating: Default
AC is king if you tank as this guy probably did , unless he made his shammy friend tank.
If you have a low AC then the only good reason a group has to take you is as puller in outdoors, since you can't tank, monk/rouge will hit harder then you and monk you out pull you in the indoor.

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 05 2001 at 5:04 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I find the phrase "AC IS KING!" absolutely histerical. Neglecting all of your other stats for ac shows a complete lack of common sense. Regardless of how good a tank you think you are because of it. This item is the perfect example of a well balanced item. It gives Haste with 5 ac as opposed to the FBSS no ac. Under "AC IS KING!" logic, this belt is worthless because 5 ac is nothing. However under "AC IS KING" logic your also doing less dmg because you attacking slower. If all you want to be is a meat shield then by all means continue to shout your battle cry...AC IS KING! The rest of us will obtain AC almost as high as yours with the rest of our stats significantly higher.

Part of the problem with haste calculations is how people measure them. There are basically 2 ways. One is to calculate the reduction in weapon delay, the other is to calculate the increase in swing speed (these are different numbers).

The FBSS lowers weapon delay by approximately 17%. Therefore, a hypothetical 100-delay weapon would have its delay reduced by ( .17 * 100 ) or 17 points; a modified delay of 83.

Conversely, the FBSS speeds up weapon swing speed by approximately 21%. This means, when equipped, you will swing any weapon 21% faster than you would without the haste item.

By these measurements: The hangman's noose is less haste than the FBSS--balanced by the AC.

It is a 14% delay reduction, and/or a 17% swingspeed increase.

RE: Disagreement
# Mar 03 2001 at 7:45 AM Rating: Decent
Agreed! I would really like to see someone sit down and show me the exact formula they used to calculate the haste effect. "i first melee for one minute without a haste item then do for a second minute with haste item and then calculate the differance" Whatever. If it was so easy we would have a resounding agreement on haste effects and there would be no arguement as to what the numbers are.

So for once i can post a true haste percentage!

I called Miss Cleo and she said that the haste effect was 23.456345667% unless underwater at full moon and then it was 23.34788645% (a little slower)If she says thats the numbers then i believe her, after all the taro cards don't lie.

Spell?
# Feb 18 2001 at 2:37 AM Rating: Default
In allakhazams it says the haste is triggered, so you dont actually wear it cause its crap. Wear your normal head gear and just put this in an inv slot and click it when you want haste. FBSS is permanant haste, which means you have to wear it to get the haste, when it says noose is triggered, that would suggest to me that you right click it and it is a buff. Therefore would be able to stack with FBSS since one is buff, one is perm haste!
RE: Spell?
# May 05 2001 at 5:11 PM Rating: Default

Also, it is not crap. 5AC is pretty damn good for a haste item.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 05 2001 at 5:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You are an idiot. It is not triggered, but permanent haste. If you actually had the item, rather than believing what other people say who also, do not have the item, then you would know this. As you might guess, i have the item.

Verant said a long time ago that the haste percentage on an item directly corresponds to the level of the creature dropping the item. The Hangman is level 50 therefore the haste on this item should be greater than that of the FBSS, which is dropped by the Frenzied Ghoul which is in the low to mid 40s. Enjoy.
