Some useful info since I didn't see it posted anywhere here...these guys (at least the ones at the VP entrance) are on a 15-20 spawn time. I've been hunting Torpor for my sham for about 3 days for about 6-12 hours a day. The Elder Wyvern's spawn about 85% of the time instead of G. Wurm and even when they do spawn they may not drop spells, when they do however they can drop up to two. The most I've seen spawn at once is two G. Wurm's. Also you can sometimes expect to wait up to 8 hours to even get one to pop in the spawn cycle after killing E. Wyvern's.
Some helpful tips for this zone. I run the zone killing named's I find while I'm waiting for the spawns at VP. So far I've collected every epic item out here except the Burnt Book (pali epic 1.0). For all you monks looking for Immortals go for the Shadow Drake or Black Scar killing three Shadow Drakes they dropped the book every time, Black Scar I killed four times and he dropped once. Enchanters looking for F. Goldenwing she roams only seen her once so bring a tracker. Can't remember what dropped Bard epic (Guts) but if I can recall seen the mob twice he only dropped once. Clerics just mow through mobs for shards collected all four after about the 2nd day. a Ancient Wyvern is static spawn just south of Overthere Zone common drops or the Improved Damage aug and earring. The gnome (mage or wiz epic guy) roams all over the place and aggros other mobs.
Also have a load of room in your bags because spells drop like crazy think I've collected over 40+ and I've only seen about 3 sets of copies. I even had to destroy spells, gear etc to make room.
Here's a note there are a few spots where a ton of mobs path through (I call them aggro hills) if you get caught fighting a single mob here you WILL get up to about 30+ mobs on you in about 5 mins...so keep moving even me a level 71 sham with dog and 71 war merc had a tough time staying alive with so many mobs aggroing at once. Usually only had time to cani AA, cani spell style and spam heals on merc when I was caught on one of these hills, also buffs get constantly dispelled by Chromo's so like me I wouldn't even bother with them if you get stuck here, either run or chain heal.
About Talendor (spelling) like many have said on his spawn info this guy will hit you without you even knowing beforehand. I was running noticed merc had stopped (keep map up, mercs get stuck sometimes) something had been casting on me for about 15 secs (resisted everything) saw dog bolt back toward merc...noticed merc was down to 60% health. I ran back toward his loc on map and there they were two titans of the battlefield locked in mortal combat, dog aggroed and flew into the fray...I was right behind him getting roboboar ready to activate. Merc was down to about 40% when robo popped under me. I had 60% mana so cast heal (Kragg's Mending) then did cani aa (tier one) the tide of battle was turning in our favor, I cast malos then slow (resist), slow (resist), Breath of Wunshi (resist). Gave up on casting (I was casting on top of him, Dragon Rule), turned from offense into a defensive support role spamming heals...had merc back up to 70% health and that's when all hell broke loose...
I was right smack in the middle of an Aggro Hill. 3 mobs added, I threw a slow on 1 before my mercs health spiked down by 7%. Healed...three more mobs aggroed including Chromo's they dispelled everything on merc (only kept two on him Blessing of Replenishment and Focus of the Seventh). I started chain healing (only thing I could do) and in about a minute had 6-9 more mobs on merc...so 12-15 mobs + Talendor...it was all I could do to keep merc from Falling as he was at the very epicenter of a maelstrom of blades, teeth, claws and magic...as a warrior he was bred for war and this make no mistake about it...was war. Merc's health stayed at about 6% due to my chain healing, dog was in a frenzy tearing into Talendor's flank while Talendor was on merc. The merc slaughtered mob after mob...he was a moving whirlwind of steel death as each foe fell he turned to engage another opponent...if he was going to Fall then he would see it done at a price. My mana was at 10% (with canni's)...and the Gods must of been watching my merc's valor on the bloodied slopes of the volcano because just when things looked bleak...Talendor ran...dog lept after him...the merc seeing his greatest opponent trying to flee cut a Wyvern down and followed close behind...I canni'd, healed merc and was the last to follow. Merc and dog threw down their common foe...it's death throe's echoed throughout Skyfire as it screamed in rage before the final blow fell upon its head...the other mobs stood no chance as my merc and dog fell upon them with a savagery that their enemies would never see again.
Talendor dropped Horn, Scales (Bard epic I think),Shield and about 8-10 spells...no Torpor. So the hunt continues...I will post back on how long it takes...
