I don't see here where anyone has mentioned that these babies summon. They do, I got summoned twiced, ganked, and left for dead. What a surprise that was, lemme tell you.
2 x 65 Necros and a 60 druid. We thought we would try a few of these in the hope of a couple of level 60 spell drops. Without slow these mobs are VERY nasty. The ones we pulled were hitting for 512 a shot and clawing or whatever they do. We struggled to keep the necro pets healed. So I logged my 55 chanter , tashed and shiftless deeds at the begining of the fight - easy after they are slowed , and poor resists.
Heres some information about the ones inside of Veeshan's Peak. Nearer the zonein we found two varieties. Variety A do not see invis and have a weak fire-based AoE of approximately 130. They clawed for close to 600 and had around 20k hp. These ones do run at 10%, but if rooted they will enrage. Also, some of them have a chance to pop another one instantly upon their death. Variety B is a bit tougher. These ones see invis, which is how you can differentiate between the two. Their AoE is a 500pt cold based attack and top-slot dispell, similar to the cobalt drakes in The Cobalt Scar. They also use Dragon Roar, which is a fear that makes you run away (very annoying as you often path into the lava). They also hit for near 600 and have about 20k hp, but only about half of Variety B run at 10%, and enrage as well. Their drop rate on spells is nice, about 1 per kill, and we've gotten some decent spells from them such as Avatar and Malo. Also, the recent patch has changed their spawn time to 15 minutes instead of two minutes.

Posted:Apr 14 2003 at 10:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I took these bad mofos out with my 60 Monk, 59 Shaman, 53 Druid. Yes i 3 box, yes i have some sort of life )This is how i did it 1. Clear Vp area. Pull gaurdians to here unless they are already spawned here. 2. pull with monk 3. Inc shamy pet 4. Malosini 5. Slow (Turgurs) 6. Bane of knife 6. Winged death 7. Drifting death 8. Drones of doom (clickys) 8. Innerflame with monk and away we go ( bah add in cripple after slow) after i bon (dot) he summons you thats actually a good thing cause he misses alot and that gave me a chance to get more dps from Monk, while dots add up. Then back up from summon and Kragg monk ghetto c-heal, then maybe sum spam heals Sup heals from drood chloroblast and one more Kragg mending to monk and hes done, then at the end of fight snare and whoop on him till dead Note: DO NOT ROOT OR HE WILL ENRAGE WHICH IS VERY LAME, CAUSE IF U KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING THEN U HAVE TO TURN OFF ATTACK AND WAIT FOR THIS IDIOT TO CHILL OUT. After hes snared he will run at about 1 bub of life so really the hard part is the intitial attack . This **** hits for about 300-500 I have about 1250ac on my monky and he was still getting hit for 500 after cripple and slow ( but a virtue or aego can take care of that. So far ive killed about 10 and only f-got Pox of Bertox. Xp is ok for drood otherwise it suks for killing lvl 60 Dragons( Alot of times clerics will come over and buff me brains out for shards so keep an eye out for whose in zone. My thoughts are that a couple friends cn get togethier and go do this. So Gl getting spells, ow and btw sumtimes this fook doesnt even drop a spell. Which is really upsetting after gettting pounded on for about 5-10min fight. I assume they dont have that many hps and now that i got Pox i assume fight will be even shorter. As far as others saying they solo I cant see a Lvl 60 Shammy soloing or any 60 for that matter. I suppose it could be done but the fact that he summons and hits so hard, Pet would crumble mana would be gone ( no torpor, malo, pox, epic, or any other ubah spells or gear is gonna help yah when u getting clawed for 500 and such. Gl guys otherwise i was suprised they are rather easy if u got a little dps ( other than pet) to get his attention..
shaman solo'in <== 65 shm with 100+ aa, these are a breeze hp? not sure, 32k i suppose, max hit 530/double, fire ae 182 max easily resisted with FR buff
1) malo to pull, run a lil, get distance.. 2) slow..., pull to ur camp or whatever... 3) cast quiescence/torpor (having SCRM makes this a lot safer and easier)keep this up always! 4) cast ur dots, jukax(another 65 shm) was usin Ultor and BoNife i use Ultor, Pox, epic, pray for no resists 5) keep your hp up, dont get below 40% 6) repeat 4 and 5 till its dead...
have your self completely buffed, maybe even virtue/kei, not needed if ya do it right, but suggested, also have pet fully buffed as well and hasted! if your pet dies, you might as well hang it up and gate, i found that the best place to camp is at RF spawn place, and most wander near the volcano just in front of it, just takes time, at 65.. get 3/4 blue aa per kill, but kills are to far apart to take advantage to this, spell drop rate, about 1:4 that simple ppl
These flee at 5% life or so. Make sure you save your last 20 or 30 % mana for torpor. Just let pet and spear dot do the rest once you get that low on mana =). Shammy potions can make these soloing missions much more fun. The DS potion and the fire resist one are awesome, so make sure to bring one of each along per wurm. Personally I never nuke these critters when I solo them. Dots seem to be more mana efficent. The RF spawn place has a nice little canyon in the rear where you can pull to and never get adds. Last thing is that pulling can be tricky because if you get to far ahead of the mob, it will stop chasing you. So have lev up and dont get too far ahead =) And they tend to drop 2 spells when they die, or so they have for me.
Soloed one at 61, though wouldn't have bothered if I knew what level it was. Conned blue, assumed it was 50ish like the others. Wasn't too resistant, pulled with slow and didn't resist. Seemed to get no more than normal resists with DoTs and nukes.
Tanked it myself with pet taunting. I just backed off if I thought a heal wasn't going to land in time, so turned on the pet and gave me time to heal up. Max hit on me was 380, fight took about 15 minutes. My unbuffed FR is 122, resisted it every time, not sure if it's a proc or cast, but seemed like a proc as it was pretty often.
Have killed a couple more since then but now I bring along my 52 cleric on other PC. Only gotten one spell so far in 3 kills, Mark of Karn. I'd kill them more often but I can't track and the exp there is not worth the effort.
I think of these like the thought stealers in maiden's eye. Wander through and drop em if you're bored, but not worth the time to camp, unless you REALLLY need torpor or malo or one of the other really rare ones, but be prepared to devote a month or so to just killing these.
I find it funny when poeple say "I soloed one" and then you read that they "Boxed" 3 characters... Yes YOU may be alone at home solo...but you are playing 2 or 3 characters to kill it...that is not soloing.
Me (61 druid) and a 62 chanter(with DC)duo these easely. Chanter gets a wurm (old or mature) and we buff it. Pull with snare, tash-slow, it summons... Had to heal pet maybe 2-3 times with 75% CH Doesn't drop that many spells... Got more spells from the Lava walker that roams close.
They hit double for about 200. Cast some breath weapon...decent resists you avoid this.
"They hit double for about 200. Cast some breath weapon...decent resists you avoid this"
Sorry thats very mislead, they hit max 530ish, and tell me if lava walker can drop malo/torpor/sunstrike or stuff like that then I will consider kill lavawalker, which they dont.
Personal opinion post, As a 62 Shaman i prefer to take my warrior with me to tank though i think i can solo these. The ones in SF that is. But i don't use Malo or Torpor. As to poison beng better than disease because of speed please use both they do stack. Personal opinion shaman should always pull these not warrior saves mana on heals because they come in slowed. They seldom resist anything so I never use Malo and the 1950 heal for Shaman is quicker and doesnt have the snare effects Torpor has (wish I'd sold that spell instead of meming it) Malo is nice on God type mobs that resist others casts to a degree but for mid lvl mobs like these I never keep it memed. If there are several up (most i've seen at once were 3) I bring my 60 Cleric 60 Warrior and my 62 Shaman and 3 box them. As I said this is an opinion post and to each their own but this is a simple way to fill in Alts 55 to 60 lvl spells without spending a fortune.
only a ****** shaman would say he wish's he would have never got torpor... you would HAVE to be like a 35 noob to even think that torpor isnt the second best heal a shaman ever gets... quiesience being the first... so stfu and stop trying to sound cool cause you lack.
If with virtue and kei its classed as soloing then I soloed about 5 of these today, and one warped and somehow disappeared. I am shaman and only yesterday got torpor. Its hard and I died once(. Keeping Torpor up on myself I used Bane and Envenomed bolt on it and 61 pet then spirit call at end. Reason why poison over disease, is because you want to kill it quick.Disease is slow, and more damage is done to you in that time, plus reslows are needed etc. I would like to upgrade my gear and be able to do it with only self buffs+ I need epic.
These can't be solo'd by a necro, you'll just get summoned all over the place as they can NOT be feared. Really only 2 classes I would think would even have a chance and that's Mage and of course, Shaman. For a shaman it's VERY tight and you need Malo right off the bat. I say possibly mage because I don't know Mage pet soloing ability.
Shaman, generally, maloXXX it, root it, slow it, insidious decay it, cripple it, cann up, wait for root to break, pull it to your pet, root it, torpor up, RESLOW it, Pox/Epic/Plague and Pet. It can definitely be a close fight and the pet should be alpha'd, but it's a fun challenge that can pay off.
(Add beastlord to that, I don't know Bl's well enough to yay or nay that)
I personnaly watched Vox get soloed by a necro before the encounter got nerfed... Problem is ppl play for a few months and think they know everything =)
Ok these guys are easy. I track them with my ranger once I find them I log him log my SK on and pull to my group which is me, my 56 shaman and my 53 cleric. Yes I 3 box and yes I kill these with ease. Cleric has 60% mana left at end shaman about 60%. If your using pets make sure there at the back of the wurm to avoid fire and repostes. Got Malo woot. Only really good spell so far. Still waiting on torpor to drop. Damn you verant.

these wurms outside of vp are random spawns generated by their ph elder wyverns, the 8 hour spawn time is not factual. hunte dthen for 6 hours and got 6 spawns
Heh they aren't that hard to tank. I did it (54 sk) with a 57 mage, a 55 bard, lvl 60 cleric, and a lvl 58 shaman. shaman slowed after i got agro. highest it hit me for was 512. doubles for 200 sometimes. The one i tanked was in Skyfire btw.
Can anyone tell me what part of skyfire these pop at or roam at as well as wether I could land malosini on them at level 60 as a shaman. Could me and a 60 necro solo them? how about me and a 60 druid? they hard to keep rooted? how about 60 bard and me? 60 enchie? who's done these things with the smallest party possible and what does it take if you don't have a defensive tank is it possible at all?
They summon, so once you start damaging them someone is pretty much always going to be tanking. You could attempt to fear them but at some point it will wear off and the Necromancer will be summoned and quickly killed.
4ppl can kill these easily. i go at least once a week with this group...60 shaman, 60 druid , 60 rogue 60 warrior and we own these things. The druid tracks them down and pulls them, i malosini them and slow them then the warrior gets agro i cast torpor on him. Never had a death although occasionly if i get a couple of resists before he is slowed it can be close. The trick is to kite i around and try to slow it before anyone has dealt it damage so it doesnt summon you. Once slowed its very easy to kill
I don't know in fact, if the Guardian Wurms inside are harder than the ones outside, but I know the ones inside claw for 1100, and have some AE for 450 points of damage.
The ones in Skyfire claw for low 500s maximum but hit slowly. Willsapper slow proc sticks to them. They also cast a fire based nuke (which isn't particularly scary.)
These can be done with one group provided you have a tank with disc defensive and a high level cleric.
We killed a couple yesterday, group was:
60CLR, 60WAR, 57MNK, 56MNK, 55DRU
Monk pulled to warrior and FD'd with healers standing back, (No-one sit on pull or it will agro off tank onto casters and you ain't going to win - it summons for a start)
Let warrior gain agro for a few seconds and then send in the rest of the melee.
Cleric was 50m at end of fight. Druid threw in a few chloroblasts if cheal was looking a bit delayed, so prolly nice to have a backup healer.
We got Legacy of Thorn and Flaming Sword of Xzul from the two we killed.

For one, it's aoe would beat your ***. For two - Fear would hardly do ****. For three - Your pet would be dead in about 10 seconds. Try again
I really don't know where people get off from having a holier than thou attitude...
This is a GAME - it's supposed to be FUN - if they wanted to try to take it down with two people, why not?
I've been in a group of two that took down a 32khp mob in Great Divide, and I must say it was one of the most enjoyable times I've ever had on EQ...yet you don't see me lording it over people.
I've also seen a 60th level necromancer get Gorenaire in Dreadlands down to half life SOLO - so obviously *you* know nothing about fear kiting and necro pets, do you?
Kindly keep your attitude to yourself and off these boards. Oh, and try again.
I've also seen a 60th level necromancer get Gorenaire in Dreadlands down to half life SOLO - so obviously *you* know nothing about fear kiting and necro pets, do you?
wow some people think they know everything.
mobs 55+ are immune to fear.
necro pets are very very weak against a mob that hits hard.
as far as takeing on lady vox solo.... no way. not before the nurfs, not after.
just the aoe will kill necro very very quickly.
she is unfearable so you cant fear her to stop her from summoning you and stonping you into the ground.
A necro can NOT currently solo a guardian wyvrn because they summon and hit for so much damage you just cant outheal it.
The necro posting that he did must have been thinking of one of the other wyvrns in SF.
I really hope this post was before PoP, but even if it is - not all mobs 55 plus are immune to fear, most of the time you need to use trepidation rather than invoke fear, but they are not immune. Plus, when fighting something that summons, you constantly fear so it doesn't wear off.
Since PoP, several necros have soloed the guardian wurms. It really isn't as big of a deal as you want to make it. I would doubt any have soloed Vox soley because if we touch her we get ported out - that includes our newer pets.
Had lvl 60 water pet off them, Pox of bertox (uber UBER rare shammie spell) an many others, tough SOBs, get 2 groups at least 1 cleric and slwoer then try them. Dont drop cash (well not much)
