Never Spawned
# Apr 27 2006 at 10:10 AM Rating: Decent
We were with a large group of people helping a druid friend with this part of her epic last night. She did the turn in, got it back, the little guy despawned then nothing....we were there for 20 min and no spawn. Was kinda frustrating, and when someone in the group got ahold of a GM and SOE, they basically said sorry, can't do anything to help you. Petition about the bug has yet to be answered.

The "Dispell" AE
# Apr 26 2006 at 4:01 AM Rating: Decent
Unlike most 'regular' dispell effects, if you resist the Lava Breath AE, you don't lose any buffs - so pop the Veteran Resist AA and you shouldn't have to worry about having a load of 'junk buffs' to save you from this.

To the naysayers... yes, the real non-triggered Faydedar does indeed still exist. Just killed him about an hour ago on Bristlebane.

I picked him up on track from the Firepots. He's got insanely huge agro radius. Level 70 druid here and I found him to be horribly resistant to damn near everything I threw at him. Mire Thorns, Spore Spiral, all debuffs, Glitterfrost, Dawnstrike you name it ... I mean none of it stuck on him with me casting in his belly. I landed Illumination of the Sun once and Wasp Swarm once, surprisingly epic 1.0 stuck on him twice, very odd. Aside from that little spell damage, it was all damage shield and weapon procs. I had pulled him to Chessboard for the fight and under 10% he starts making a beeline for the iksar master! He dropped before I got into agro range of the monk.

Dropped: Banishment x2, Greater Voc Water, Water Dragon Meat, Pod of Seawater, Shield of the Water Dragon, Kavruul's Mystic Pouch and Treasure Hunter's Satchel.

Finally, the evasive Faydedar gets his name notched into my belt. The last of the Kunark dragons bites the dust :)

I'm looking for the non triggered Fey on The Rathe. I don't have track so I need to get where he will aggro me when he pops. Do you have a loc, or a place that I can stand to make that happen?

If you sit on the spires above the firepot room you will draw his aggro when up. If it is not shown on your maps, it is down in the SW corner of zone just a little below the raptor islands.

Druid soloable
# Jan 16 2006 at 12:04 PM Rating: Good
I know other druids have soloed him, but usually folks want to know if their current equip level is sufficient.

I am a level 70 druid with about 200AAs and Time/EP geared.

Follow sparex's post, entitled 'Spawned Fay', a few posts below to get there.

Prefight:
- I suggest you max out all buffs, because this mob dispells quite frequently and he will take away all your buffs eventually.
- He summons. You will not get a chance to re-mem a spell, so choose wisely.
- Equip any clicky item that has a clicky buff on it, especially ones with low recast times. When he debuffs you will want to clicky re-buff, and it happens a lot.
- Break out the potion belt for heals and clarity X.
- Break out a pet and buff him to the max. You will need him at the end anyhow. Turn off taunt.
- For spells, forget about any fire spell, snare or root. Mem your highest quick heal spell (chloro line). Use magic based dots. You can try cold nukes, I never got one to land but I only tried it at the very end when he resists every spell. Mem your highest single target regen and DS. Mem any 'quick' rebuff spells (the idea is to try and protect the better buff spells from being dispelled). Have SoE memmed.
- If you have Exodus, make sure it is available.
- If you have the Veteran AA to refill hp/mana, make sure it is available.
- DS is very important. You will get hit a lot so you should make the most of getting hit.
- Enable personal tribute for increasing effectiveness of DoTs and lower mana usage.
- If you have Guardian AA, have it available.
- Save the spellset! You may need it again if you evac.

Turn-In:
- When you turn in the Essence, which you do get back, he will pop in water. He takes about 15 seconds or so to crawl up on the beach. He has a huge aggro radius. If you evac and come back to him, he summons from just inside the second tunnel.. that's a fairly large radius!

Fight:
- If you decide you want to try and snare him, do so in the beginning before he summons.
- I suggest just starting of with stacking the magic dots on him.
- Send in the pet after you have decent aggro.
- As he debuffs, try and re-stock the debuffed spell if you have it available as a clicky or a memmed spell.
- Burn your heal potion the first time you reach 30%-50% hp. The fight make take 10 minutes, so you want to maximize your utilization of time.
- Cast your quick heal when you reach 50%. You may get it interrupted a few times before it takes.
- If DS gets removed, refill it first.
- He summons about every 9 secs, and if summoned your spell will get interrupted. So start a DoT cast immediately after a summon to maximize your chance of getting it to hit.
- If you see him stop to cast, you stop and cast your DoT or heal at the same time.
- If you lose C6 or KEI, use the clarity X potions asap.
- Burn your Guardian AA if you have it.
- When your mana gets to around 10%, do one last heal then burn your mana/hp/end regen AA.
- If you get under 5% hp with no mana, hit Exodus.

The End:
- He starts to flee around 5% or so. At this point he resists everything thrown at him. You need to melee him down. Use your pet and start swinging. He will swim out of the tunnel and get hung up on the rocks in the center 'ring/bowl' of the island.
- It may take up to five minutes to beat him down.
- If your pet is dead, resummon a new one and send it after Fay for a little more dps.

Evac Recovery:
- If you had to evac, you can still finish him off. If you already spent your mana/hp0/end regen AA, then you are probably done. If you still have it, burn it now and continue.
- Burn your Clarity X potion and rebuff all mana regen items (oak, mask, etc).
- Rebuff all AC/DS self buffs.
- Rebuff SoE.
- Mem your pet summon spell.
- Start running SE for the island.
- When pet spell becomes castable, stop and summon pet. Reload 'fight' spellset saved before. Since Exodus is spent, you may want to replace a slot with Egress. Continue running.
- You want to be fully buffed when you reach the second tunnel, because he will summon you from at least that far away.
- He shouldn't be at full health. He may be between 50%-100%. Expect him to regain about 40%-60% of his health from wherever you left him at evac time *providing* you moved fast after the evac and got back to him quickly enough.
- Resume the fight by stacking the two (or three if you want) magic dots, healing yourself and keeping DS up.
- With any luck you can get him to his flee point.

Good luck!

need infpo on the REAL fayd. not the trigered one.
1. where does he pop.
2. where is the iksar he fights.
3. what is his spawn cycle
4. wha does it take to knock him down
5. NO other info please. got to much of that already. (BTW a level 70/308 pally will NOT de-lev to 51.)

Well, here's an actual info post for you nukers. Fire lures will be like 65% successful against him and regular magic nukes are all resisted. Ice lure is what I got to land, maybe regular ice nukes work but to be safe keep ice lure memmed...

Liveye (lvl 65 Wizard)

PS- Nuke heavy at the end, he seems to now flee over the mountain instead of through the underwater cave so unless you want to chase him through water you need to kill him before he climbs over the hill.

Just did the spawned Fay last night and got the piece that I needed from him. ^_^ When you get to Tim Deep, there is an island on the very southern end of the map. On my map it says 'Bar". Swim down to this island, and when you get to it swim underwater through 2 tunnels. You will come up inside the bowl and there is a small lake, a little beach, and a hut. On the beach is a little gnome. Hand him the Froglok Essence that you looted from Ulump and that will spawn the smaller Fay in the pond. You DO get your Froglok Essence back. About 8 of my guildies showed up for the fun (COMPLETE AND TOTAL OVERKILL, btw) but we had a blast anyway. You can probably do this with a good tank, and a good healer if they are in their 60's. I spawned Fay, a guildie dragged it onshore, and then we proceeded to beat the stupid out of him. Poor thing even tried to crawl away. Anyway, for a bit of redneck fun, while waiting for various guildies to show up we started a cliff diving compition. Put on a levi and climb the walls on the outside, you can get all the way to the top. Run out over the water and click levi off. All kinds of fun. A little anit-climatic without a splash, but still boat loads of fun if you are waiting for more to show up. ^_^ GL to you on Fay, he is WAY easier than I thought he'd be!

just wanted to confirm that Fay is not nearly as hard as he used to be. Just duoed with druid friend, me 70 ranger(Darie) and him 65 druid(Fausha). when he did turn in he got feared then i took aggro from there i needed 1CH but i did use a 2nd CH at end of fight just to fill health bar full. Easy kill fight only last for 2 mins tops. druid got water and now is a proud owner of Druid Epic 1.0.

FYI: Druid epic fay and Pally epic Fay are 2 differnt mobs. druid epic fay is triggered. Pally epic fay is Not triggred and is a real trouble some mob to mess with. group of 70's took pally-fay down but lost cleric in process.
RE: Duoed
# Apr 26 2006 at 3:59 AM Rating: Decent
Not true. In terms of the fight, AEs etc, the mob is entirely identical - the only difference is that the triggered version ONLY drops the Epic piece (Pod of Sea Water) - the regular version ("Pally-fay" as you call it) drops that, plus a selection of loot from the Vox loot table, plus sea dragon meat and/or water dragon meat. (Well, I -say- "selection", I got 3 Kavruul's Mystical Pouch the last time I killed him, plus the Drums and some spells).

Lots of people asking about where the real Fey spawns. I do not know if he is still arround.

But back in the day when there was no "spawned" version a Druid would park a mule character on top of the spires down by the firepot room. Fey was the only thing in the area that would kill you, so when he poped your mule got killed and you knew it was time to call in the troops. You only had a couple hours to grab him before he got to the Iksar Master. A lot of people died trying to kite him arround the zone until thier friends arrived.

Good Luck!

He is on a timer, will spawn on the beach, close to the water and to the right (while facing towards the hut) of the little walk way going up to the hut, but down on the beach. He is a dwarf, if you see a dwarf on the beach it will be him. If no one does the turn in, he will despawn after a while and repop later, some have told me, every 12 hours, others say 24 hours, but I have not confirmed this myself. I just bound there and kept checking till i say him up and then went and organized a group to take down Fay after the turn in. Took 30 minutes to get people and get there and he was still there, hope this helps.
Needing more Information
# Dec 12 2004 at 9:46 PM Rating: Decent
I also have heard that the actual Faydedar containing the Pally epic no longer spawns. I too am looking for more info on this.

I have read from several sites. One claiming that the Fire Gators are the ph.After spending 3 hours killing the Fire Gators nothing happened.
I also have been told actual Fay is on a 7 day timer.
The biggest problem is people keep getting the triggered Fay for druid epic and the actual Faydedar mixed up.

All and any information, is and will be greatly appreciated.

Dropped the spawned version vazaelle( druid epic ). Was easily take with a 67 pali, 65 beast and a 64 druid. Remeber Fay will argo the druid right after the turn in, have healer back away to stay out of stun range and your golden.

Killed Faydedar today with a 67 Mage and 65 Druid. Mage got Mala to land, but malosinia afterwards and any other dmg spell would not land. Tried both fire and magic based. Druid could not get any dot's or hand of ro to land. So, 66 air pet pretty much tanked him solo without help from us except heals.

Never took more than 40 pts of dmg from the ae with fire resist at 250. Never got feared, magic resist at 220.

Hope this helps : )

Paladin Epic drop?
# Aug 09 2004 at 11:11 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I'm reading this post, and a few times people have asked about the spawned version, but I haven't seen any clear answers. Here's where I'm coming from, I'm a Paladin looking for the Torn Frost Book, I'm level 53, so I can't do Lady Vox. I want to try Faydader, yet I'm not finding any posts on the drop for the Paladin quest. Can someone tell me which mob I need to kill to get this. According to the top of the page, it says Faydedar does, yet we killed the spawned mob. Why did I not get it, and how do I get this particular mob?

Any help on this one out there?

Thanks

Xaanru, Your best bet is to die until you reach 52, get into a Vox raid and get in line for the Torn Frost Covered Book. It may sound stupid, but the other two dragons have a 7 day pop timer and have never been up in the two years I have been stuck on this part. I'm just jaded, though. I spent a long time getting Soulfire. It sits and rots in my bank with little chance of ever being used to complete my epic. I was lucky enough to get the other book on a Nagafen raid, but this has eluded me.

Getting Gorenaire sure seems easier than delevelling a character.

Several of our Paladins have gotten the book off Gorenaire, although for some reason the Gorenaire spawn seems to be more contested than Severilous or Talendor(who drop the other book).

We've even managed once to kill Sev and tal both the same day, right one after the other.

There are two Faydedars. There is the spawned version, which drops ONLY the Pod of Seawater, and there is the regular version, which is a timed spawn, like all kunark dragons.

The regular version drops normal Kunark Dragon loot, including the piece you want. The spawned version drops nothing except the druid item.

Returned Today with Myself ( 65 Druid ) , 65 Pal, 65 SK with his shaman bot and a 48 Monk. I Triggered the spawn and it was easily defeated, the entire fight taking about 4 minutes. Approx. 10 slows and cripples were resisted according to our shaman, but malo DID land. Having PotSeasons up proved to be valuable, everyone resisted the AE a lot, as opposed to eating it early and often on our first attempt. The Loot was a single Pod of Seawater, looted by myself. Special thanks to Ashryn, Hofan and Slaed on Rallos Zek for helping me complete my epic.

Just thought id post my experiences with Fay here, didnt go as well as i had planned!

Showed up with Myself ( 65 Druid ) , 65 Pally , 34 bard ( figured MR would help , what the hell! ) 65 SK and his druid bot. Set up on beach, handed in my froggy essense and triggered him. Was only hittin for 200's but a fire based dispell and DD pretty much ruined it for us. Lack of foresight on the strat left us buffless, and pretty much at the little fishy's mercy. He was despawned within 30 minuted of failure, i even ran a 60's ranger to the zone just to be sure he hadnt roamed off. Also wasnt sure if the mob could be slowed.. when we came back for CR and the 2nd attemp, we had a slower , but he was gone. Trying again tomorrow when trigger respawns.
