ok here it is, you ready for it? i camped greater spurbones all night and the greater charbone never spawned, into the next day actually, but i'm like, you know what, let's kill gorilla's, and 5 mins later after wiping gorillas, the greater charbone spawns, but he didn't drop what i needed, so naturally i was cursing the heavens in utter agony. I gonna keep at it.

Some infos to share with...while I log my 65 Ranger to track Greater Charbone,I found out that it usually spawn around the Stair, sometimes it will wander down to the forest. But most of the time,it only walking around the east part of this zone.It will be hard for NEC to using Sense Dead to track it because 2 other kinds of undead spawn a lot too.
Best way I would suggest is bring your Ranger friend with you.Let him/her use "rconsider track" method.Greater Charbone is probaly the lowest level mob in this zone except maybe Soulbinder and some others.Hit track, and if it spawns, you will see its name on the first page of list.A LOT easier than Sense dead spell imho.Good luck..

Killed two in the vicinity of 3300, 3400, in the NW corner of the zone. Killed random mobs to spawn them...found 2 that way in about 15 minutes or so. First dropped bone chips, second dropped ulak, shiny gem, and trooper shield.
my experience...

these do not have a static spawn... that i can figure, out of the 6 i saw spawn, not one was in the exact same place. they spawn near the ruins -3000, +3500.

i stuck to killing mobs that were on the hill ridge that arched around the ruins from west to north sides. i had more spawn when i started killing on both sides as opposed to just the west.

most regularly appeared in the vincinity of -2800, +3800, although 3 appeared on the w-sw side of the ruins, on the west side of the hill ridge

skeleton mobs do not appear to be any specific PHer... it's just random mobs, again, from what i can tell, although more spawned when i just killed anything i could see, vs the exp mobs (was trying to ding aa as well ;) )

can confirm that the charbone needs the shield & ulak (both no drop) to also drop the shiny emerald.

hopes this helps some.

I hung out at that loc for a good while and can say with 100% certanty that it's not static - he walked past that point, but did not pop there. He may walk there and stop, but he definetly is a roamer. I guess there could also be a static spawn, but I didn't see it in abotu 45 min of camping...

If he is not carrying the shield and ulak, he won't have the gem. After killing a few, I found that there were none on tracking, so I started killing greater spurbones within tracking distance of NW corner stairs, and I soon had a greater charbone. Good Luck.
loc?

Dropped the following for me the other night.
Fine Steel Ulak - I'm guessing this is a CoM key?
Trooper Shield - OT quest shield.
Shiney Emerald - ??? What is this for ???

Ulak are Hand 2 Hand weapons silly. Mnk and Bst useable usually.

Ulak stats: 1H slashing, 4/23 Wt: 4

Also, this mob is incorrectly classified in the bestiary. In case it's not obvious, him being a skellie and all, he is in fact undead, can be feared and nuked with undead specific spells

The Shiney Emerald is a gem for the 7th rank Necromancer Skullcap. It is one of four gems needed to be combined with an unfinished septer in the Grand Forge of Dalnir.
