Spawn Change

After the zone change, Fellspine spawns all over the place. I saw him up on track from the CS zone, thought it was odd and followed tracking through the first tunnel on the right. I killed a few roamers on my way there and saw fellspine was fairly close. After killing him and getting his belt, I went after a rampaging bulthulk i saw on track. A few minutes later I saw Fellspine on track again! Turns out one of the first roamers I killed was a PH for him too. Got another belt (after transfering the first one to a twink) and a seahorse hide cloak.
Fellspine hits harder now, summons, and seems to have less HPs.

After the Revamp on the 08/26/2003 , Fellspine popped in the area near the CS Entrance...
Hits for 220, doubles, and kicks, cannot enter land area BUT summons!
Killed by a Druid, Cleric and Warrior. (Warrior tanked, no more Dire Charm able mobs in SG after revamp) Dropped something new:

Spiked Seahorse Hide Breastplate
AC 29 DEX+15 HP+50
WT 4.4
Plate Classes
All Races

Looks like Ikky BP from the Icon.

I did exactly how Dukevivi described it...works perfectly. Invis.... swim down well.... go thru south "+" shaped tunnel.... take immediate right... camp.

Only problems I encountered is if you get turned around or stuck at the bottom of the well. I didn't swim to the very bottom and got stuck, missing the south tunnel and got agroed by all three mobs after the see invis mob hit me.

If you do it smoothly and go straight down and out the south + tunnel it works like a charm. Excellent post Duke!! Thank you.

As far as where Fellspine(or PH) roams/spawns....Duke is right on again...around the -300 -300 area is the spawn point. I chose to camp just inside the next tunnel up straight from the south well exit on the little ledge there before coming to the next set of mobs. Fellspine/PH will roam from his spawn point (-300 -300), to the well, and back again. Same path everytime. Killed him with 61 pally (me), 54 drood, and 65 chanter. Easy kill. Oh.....and I got the belt :)

Ok, I have read a couple different posts here and the one I can understand the most is Mandicus, posted on 21 Oct 02.

The lastest post, when I followed the directions, put me in a TOTALLY different area.

Basically, in the most recent, I jumped in the water, killed the first Seahorse to the east. There are 2 more behind it that I killed. Killed a roaming swordfish and then swam down the east side. I eventually got to an open area that I had two choices, right or left. Left was 2 more seahorse and right was tunnel going further down. I killed those 2 horses and stayed in the area for a few, nothing.

I followed the earlier post and as far as I can tell, I am in the area. I swam until I saw a Seahorse, but it was roaming. I eventually Killed it and then swam back to the area where I first encountered it.

SO if anyone can clarify the any part of this, it would be awesome, thanks in advance )

Its easier to explain how to get to him from WW than from CS, but sorry if I wasn't very clear. Follow Dukevivi's instructions to get to him from WW.

To get to him from CS, you need to go east, killing any mobs that aggro you (mostly seahorses). A high swimming skill and enough distance, and you can sometimes swim past them without aggro - I can never count on it, even at 200 swimming, so I summon up a pet as soon as I'm past the zone-in molkor/ulthork. Swimming and going through tunnels, you'll eventually come to a part where there's like a "stage" looking place, above ground, with sirens and elementals. Don't go up on the stage - stay in the water, on either side of the stage is an underwater tunnel going down - these are the top and bottom of the "plus" everyone is referring to - east of the plus is a bit of dry land and an up/down tunnel, west of the plus are a few mobs and a roaming seahorse - this is Fellspine's PH.
Killed him twice

I've killed him twice now, and gotten the mask and whip :( My strategy as a shaman is to zone in from CS, summon up a pet, and fight my way east to his spawn point. Depending on blind luck, I'll have to fight between 2-4 seahorses to get to his spawn point. Used to be easy when the pathing was all screwed up heh, but now the seahorses and swordfish can follow ya out of the water :( Excellent info in Dukevivi's post, but its no longer relevant - they fixed the pathing. Best way in now is from the CS side.

He's very very resistant btw, malo/malos is extremely helpful in getting him slowed. Hits for 210 tops and doesn't have any more hitpoints than the regular seahorses (maybe 12-15k). As a matter of fact, both times I killed him my pet did all the damage, as he was virtually immune to my dots and nukes.. so I just spent my mana healing and trying to reslow - took pet about 6 minutes to kill.

Do have one quick question, if anyone knows - does he only have one PH, or is any seahorse in the lowest section (tunnel) of the zone a possible PH? Anyone ever seen him near the well?

If you follow Dukevivi's post it will still work. If you can slip down the well and head thru the south tunnel fast and smooth enough (recommeded high swim skill) while invised you won't agro the mob with see-invis. But I'd still camp out just in case.

He will only have 1 PH (seahorse) which roams from his spawn point, to the well, and back to spawn point repeatedly. Fellspine follows the same path. From my 3 times camping it, it has been the only roamer in that area. So set up a safe camp somewhere inbetween there and wait for him to swim by.

PH name is "a coldspine seahorse." He drops the bracelet and some other decent stuff. Took this camp with 51 war, 64 cleric, 50 necro, 48 chanter. Everything is cake once slowed.

Salkan - 54th Druid of Tunare
Ulic - 51st Warrior of Rallos Zek

is this true?

i heard fellspines spawn was moved, if so where was he moved to? looking to camp this guy again, just cant find where he pops =/
He doesn't move
# Mar 11 2003 at 12:03 PM Rating: Excellent
Ok just killed him and got the uber belt this morning. He was at neg 325 neg 310 (approx). And as a confirmation, he didn't move at all when I began stack up the dots on him. Total contrast to everything else in the zone, which as a whole is a major pain in the ***.

Took me a death to figure this out, but basically, go to the bottom of the well and head south through the tunnel that is cross shaped (vertical cross-section is a big "plus" sign). Do this invised of course. There may be see-invis mobs at the bottom of the well - swordfish and seahorses. Don't stop, look back, etc. Swim down and past whatever is there and through the tunnel. It soon opens up into a big area. Turn right, go to the corner, and camp. Pathing here is BAD, so that means you have time to camp and relog. When you get back in, re-invis and follow the tunnel that continues the cross-shaped tunnel further south. He was back there for me, but I hear he moves around so track is a good thing. Once he reaches some point he stops moving, even if you are sticking arrows into him and dotting him. Enjoy :)

Oh - placeholders see invis, Fellspine doesn't.

Just a quick question? Do these guys see through inv. to animals? Druids have that spell from under level 10.

Just an idea.

My experience has been horrible despite what has been posted here.

I tried to access the tunnel as posted by some of the very fine people here with my trustly companion - 61 druid.

We have yet to get through to the bottom of the Water Shute or Well. At least one of the 3 mobs at the bottom sees through camo which ends any chance of getting by without a fight.

Perhaps our equipment is lacking somewhat, but my partner and I have yet to get through that part. Are we in the wrong place? gone too far down? or is there some other tactic that we have not employed.

Thank you for any kind feedback.

I don't know if SG has always been this way but atm the pathing in here is brutal. I have pulled mobs only to watch them path in the opposite direction and appear somewhere else, usually stuck in a wall. Some won't come at all.
I never saw Fellspine though I did see a seahorse where the other post mentioned.

My question. Once you are at the bottom of the tube you are in a room with 3 - 4 mobs and there are 2 tunnels out in addition to moving up and out of the water. One of the tunnels is cross shaped and leads to an open area with 3 tunnels. Is Fellspine located in the tunnel straight ahead from the cross shaped tunnel? Assuming he even spawns that is.

Well yes. Follow the tunnel straight across after the cross shaped one. Fellspine's placeholder (a coldspine seahorse) can spawn before that tunnel or quite far into that tunnel. It's quite random but I seem to get unlucky with it spawning right at the bottom of the well shute with all the other mobs around it. The other poster really did a fine job describing the location.

My luck has either been amazing with the drops or the belt is the common drop. 2 days of farming, 3 Fellspines, 3 belts.
Removed?
# Nov 09 2002 at 2:42 PM Rating: Default
I'm convinced he was removed in the last patch. I camped him for a week after the posts describing his spawn location (thx guys) and got him a bit over once a day on average. Since the last patch, I've camped him every day for many hours, and he hasn't popped once. If anyone sees him, please post so we know he wasn't completely removed. Also, isnt' it a rather odd "coincidence" that he seems to have been removed a week after someone finally disclosed his spawn area (call me Mulder)?

Cheers

apparantly you folks aren't too interested in this guy even though he drops one of the best haste items in the game. I say this because I've gotten 6 of these belts and I've NEVER seen anyone camping him but me.

To get to fellspine go to western wastes zoneline and follow tunnels till you get to the lake with the well that leads down to the siren area... go down the well and go through the cross shaped tunnel into a larger water area with 2 water type servants above... keep swimming under them into the next tunnel and follow that until you see a coldspine seahorse. When you find that, kill it. That is fellspine's placeholder.

He can and will spawn anywhere from the bottom of the well (3 spawns here... 2 normal mobs and a servant mammal) all the way to the end of that tunnel below the 2 watery/icy servants. The end of that tunnel has 4 exits and is very obvious when you reach the end.

Spawn time is approx 28 mins.

Recommend only camping this if you can solo a coldspine seahorse till fellspine spawns... after that call in some guildies for help.

Fellspine hits for 210s, highly resistant, but has same hitpoints as the other seahorses... about 12k is my guess.

common drop: mask of swirling water 4ac 5dex 5wis 25hps 0weight all all

uncommon drop: *spined seahorse hide belt* 10ac 4str 4sta 4dex 4agi 4wis 4int 4cha 1svmag 1svcold 1svpois 1svdis 1svfire 25 hitpoints 25mana 0.0weight all all no level restriction. eff: haste 34% according to many haste parser websites.

rare drop: spined seahorse hide breastplate 29ac 15dex 50hps 4.4weight chain classes usable... looks like regular chain when worn.

ultra rare drop: fellspine's tail somethin like 7dmg 17dly 9wis 9int rng pal and sk usable and a 300dmg dot in 3 ticks with blind effect... recommended lvl 55 is on that.

So, to reiterate... from the center of the well to the end of the long tunnel opposite the well in the water is fellspines location... when he spawns he moves slightly then stops and never moves again due to broken pathing. So you have to kill him where he spawns even if he spawns next to 2 molkors or sirens. Same with his placeholder... pathing is very annoying here but its still very possible to kill this guy without exploiting.

Quoting Scholar Mandicuslifescourge:

<Fellspine location: between well and the end of his tunnel opposite the well (end of tunnel has 4 exits with siren priest building above) placeholder is ALWAYS a coldspine seahorse
(yah this is the guy with the 10ac 4allstats 1allresists 0weight all all 35% haste belt.) >

This is how I find Fellspine. As stated on my previous post - I just TRACK him. But the location where I found him is:

As I zone in from CS - at SG zone I succor to SG / WW zone near the 2 walrus type. I make a left and run down the tunnel with superior camo up. in the middle there is a shute with water - go down and go throught the exit that look like a PLUS sign. Stay in the water. now look around. there is 3 tunnels to your left. go throught the middle to the farthes END. At the end you should see a neriad maiden - back up a bit. there is a seahorse just before her. HE is the PH for Fellspine as far as I know. I would like to thank Scholar Mandicuslifescourge and Allakhazam for the above info or I would not be able to figure out where Fellspine spawn. GL to all and hope it help.
Where?
# Oct 15 2002 at 1:25 PM Rating: Default
Samanah, please give us a bit more info about what tunnel you found him in. I've killed hundreds of seahorses, but I've never gotten Fellspine to pop, so I'm convinced he can only spawn in a certain spot or area. Also, Samanah makes reference to a post by Scholar Mandicuslifescourge -- I've looked everywhere I could think, but I couldn't find it. Anyone else know what he's talking about?

I was bored killing the othmirs so decide to give free succor across SG. While I was there waiting for my friend to zone in, I decided to do some tracking and may get lucky with the shimmering spirit. The shimmering was not up, but I seen Fellspine is. With the new druid's 75% heal spell mem, I took the warr with the cler and enchanter's buff in looking for the Fellspine. Got Succor mem just incase. Finally found him at the end of the tunnel like Scholar Mandicuslifescourge say where he was. too 2 75% heal from the druid's to bring him down along with the Druid's Dotts. He drop the Belt. Now I got to decide where to put the belt. the shaman, rogue or the BST.. Decisions, decisions ) Good luck to all.. Now keep on looking for the Shimmering again... Need to get that drum of the Beast for my friend the Bard.
