Find an enchanter (or do it yourself) to Dire Charm Pendil Dashinger and sick him on The Tangrin. Easy as that. Pendil will not lose that much HP and The Tangrin will go down.

Just to clear things up about his location (3454, 2920). Its the big island all the way in the northern part of the zone. But he isn't static, he roams around the island and in some cases I've read he was in the water (think another post here mentioned it).

He's classified as a 54 Warrior, which sounds easy enough until you start the battle. BRING MELEE DPS!!!! Sorry to shout it but he is VERY resistant to magic (as in resisted every single one of my spells). Being a 62 Enchanter would normally mean me being able to kill him in a couple of minutes, maybe 3-4 since he is a name for the epic. But since I didn't know heading into it that I would be nothing more than a gnome shaped punching bag, I had to spend the whole fight using a 1H Blunt weapon and relying on my pet for dps. Fight took me about 20-25 minutes and I'm fairly confident that 80% of the damage done to him was through Feedback (11point damage shield, although mine was 17 due to armor stats).

Anyways outside of the annoyance of the magic resist, he seems to be pretty strait up. My "group" was me (62enc) a healer merc and my pet. The gorilla hits hard but with the way mercs are, healer never let me drop below 80% (and he never ran below 75% mana either).

Anyway bring melee dps and a good healer and you should be fine.

PS - He always drops the sands so theres no need to kill him more than once.

I spanked this bad boy today as a 55 druid with tank merc. Dots were resisted about 70% of the time so mostly I just healed the merc. Finished at 20% mana with merc at 50%. Not hard, which goes to show how much more powerful toons are in today's game. I'm not braggin, anyone could do it.

People rarely post useful information about mobs on here (actually this thread has been pretty good from what I've read, but normally) so me and my brother have decided to gather statistic for some mobs that we found useful.
62 Mage and 60 Necro easily duo'ed, probably could have solo'ed with mage.

Battle took around 4 minutes EDIT: I went back through again later to parse HP and it was around 30,000.

His minimum hit was 126 (bash), his maximum hit was 235 with an average of 172 throughout the battle. He did about 88 DPS.

He is extremely resistant as I couldnt hit any of the resistable malaise spells and necro was only able to get off one DoT. He never landed a stun, which checks against your magic resist and is a proc. He ran for us at around 19% (which seems to be the norm) so make sure your DPS is high enough, otherwise you're going swimming.

So those statistics again

Min Hit - 126
Max Hit - 245
Avg hit - 172
DPS - 88
HP - 30,000

Proc checks against magic resist and he is heavily resistant to spells despite his level. Runs around 19%.

Be sure to dispell this guy! he was regening extremely fast early into this fight, but after a few dispells he dropped fast. I don't know what buff it is on him, or if something else cast it on him, but it makes things significantly easier.

Also the Monkey Stun is a proc of his, not a cast spell.

Solo'd this monky as a level 71 Enchanter with twink gear. Charmed Hierophant Liyx from the SW corner of zone, ran over to the Tangrin, hasted Liyx and kept rune on him. Tangrin ran at 20%, pet was at 40% health and I was at 40% mana.
Escape From Monkey Island
# Jul 10 2007 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
The Tangrin roams on the big island in the NW corner of the field of bone. I attacked him just hours ago and looted my sands of the mystics.

He is a tough fight with plenty of hitpoints so do not be overconfident with this guy. I like to err on the side of extreme overkill when I can anyway. Let the uber, well equipped guys brag, I am bazaar geared and need some friends.

Our Party:
70 Beastlord
67 Mage
67 Cleric
57 Enchanter

What did NOT work:
Chanter stat debuffs
BL's or chanters slow
Chanter's or Mage's dots
Mage nukes

What did work:
Tash
Bl's poison and disease dots
good ol melee DPS

Static Spawn?
# Mar 23 2009 at 9:32 AM Rating: Decent
This is an old question, but a good one, so I will respond anyway. The spawn is on the large island in the northwest part of the zone. He roams the area. When we found him today, he was in the water between the two islands.

Pretty easy kill
# Apr 03 2007 at 7:24 AM Rating: Decent
Just killed him a few minutes ago. Was fairly easy. killed him with a 63 sk and 62 cleric healing. Forgot to haste SK on my ench before I logged cleric on it so it was a long fight but he went down. He started running at 15% which was good for me cause cleric was almost oom. Everything but darkness landed on him.

Goodluck!

A 61 druid (healing) and a 62 monk (tanking) took this Monkey down. It took 3 min to take him down and it was actually easy if you have a good tank and a healer. Monk just took aggro and took him down within 3 minutes of beginning. It resisted a lot of my spells (61 druid) but we still got it down. The Monk soloed it while I healed him at least 5 times.

Spawn Time
# Dec 11 2006 at 3:35 AM Rating: Decent
Spawn time is between "16 hr and 23" hrs. I am not sure which but here is my story. I logged on yesterday to farm sand for the chanter quest. The Tangrin was not up. SO i logged on a ranger alt and went out to play elsewhere. I checked back every half hour to hour. He was there at 3 am check (16 hrs later). I did the pendle DC and it worked brilliantly. It was about 3 30 am when I killed hime. I came back at 2 am the next night and he was up again. This tells me either he spawns somewhere between 16-22 hrs or he spawns some time after around 2 a.m. (pacific time in real life.) Hope this helps :)

Some Ranger was trying to kite him today near the ramp leading up to FoB while I worked on a young alt. Saw me somehow and hit me a few times for 200+...needless to say one very dead young monk...almost logged on my main to kill him but figured I'll bring a chanty buddy along when I do that.

Just looked for him with my 10 necro (was just curious as to what the H the tangrin is) and he was on the larger of the two islands-the one with the large wall. I found him at around 9:20 PM Central(Illinois) but my buddy tells me that he moves from island to island.
That monkey's just gone bananas if you ask me.

Oh no he didn't!
Sadly i just did. And my self respect is gone just like that...

# Nov 01 2005 at 3:08 AM Rating: Decent
Soloed him as a 70 necro today. After reading the posts here about his resists, I tried using Funeral Pyre of Kelador and Blood of Thule, which both worked fine. Embracing Darkness from Ossein was resisted the two times I tried it. Mostly I let pet tank and used Touch of Death for heals. I ended up having to use Mend Companion. This guy's dps is pretty good for his level.

I don't have much to add to this discussion. I can confirm that Dire Charming Pendle Dashinger is the way to go. For some reason, whether it's because I levitated him or cast Night's Dark Terror on him, Pendle could not swim.

So, the first time, when I decided to play it safe and pull the Tangrin to the neighboring island on the east of Tangrin's island. The monkey fled at 19% health. He swam to the mainland in Field of Bone and Pendle couldn't keep up. Pendle swam like his swimming ability was about 1 and capped there. Strange, because he didn't seem to have this problem when I tashed him and pulled him to the neighboring island where I Dire Charmed him in the first place.

Round Two. This time, I tashed Pendle and pulled him to the northern end of the Tangrin's island. Since the monkey seems to swim well, and Pendle doesn't, I decided to give him as much room as possible to finish off the Tangrin before the ape made it to the water. No NDT this time, or levitation. Just good old Chanter haste. I parked Pendle in the shallow water on the northern end of the island and pulled Mr. Monkey.

Amazingly, Pendle owned this stupid ape. The Tangrin tried to run at 19% as he always does, so I got out my own melee weapon, Illusion: Werewolf and added what minimal DPS I could. The Tangrin made it to the water and I was afraid I'd lose him again, but to my amazement, he simply turned around and continued running away on his own island. He made it to the other side of the island and we killed him in the water.

No new information to add, except I can confirm that Pendle double hits for 177. The Tangrin CAN summon. I found this out during round one, when I became aware that according to what I had read here, this ape can swim, so I tried to pull him to the northern end of the island next to Tangrin's. As I called my DC mob off, the Tangrin summoned him back.

For some strange reason, after I looted the Tangrin and some Wizzie rune he dropped, I discovered that Pendle can swim just fine. As I ran back to the mainland, to turn in some bone chips for faction in Cabilis, I got attacked by some trash level skellies. Pendle attacked them like the dutiful DC mob he was. I was surprised to see him, since I figured that since he couldn't swim, he'd still be on the island. So, it wasn't the Dire Charm that somehow made him into a lousy swimmer. Must have been either the levitation or the NDT the first time.

Got bored, so roamed a part of FoB i had never been to. Lo and behold! a named mob I had never seen.

Attack him virtually naked (wearin some random gimp chain armor + crown of deceit + a bow for that leet ranjah look :P) and fully unbuffed , and this grubby beggar starts fightin back. To my surprise he starts winning.

I notice he resists virtually everything from stuns, nukes, DoTs, root, even the Goldenrod lifetap with its -200 MR check.

Once I'm at 50% I figure somethin's not right, so I look him up while switchin back to proper tank gear (elemental/DoN geared ~7.8k/1870ac unbuffed).

Keepin self up w/HoT while readin online and fightin, mana pool starts goin dry. I use a click off the Casino-drop Vial of Ethereal mist (had no modrod on at the time), and continue to wait for websites to load.

Finally go oom, and w/o lifetaps or self-heals, I pop the oh-so-godly Pal defensive (haha), and at 10% proceed to LoH.

Continuing on, I read chanty 1.0 mob, and am like aha! (lightbulb *on*). Had him to 15% while I dropped back to 10%, and decided to win or die.
I died :P

Laughed it off, then summoned, rezzed, self-buffed (10k, 1950) and wtfpwned his monkey butt.

Round 2 went like this.

Breath of Tunare regen, one click of vendor-bought clar X pot, one click of Elixir of Healing X pot (unnecessary as it turned out), self-HoT + a few fast cast 1200 heals, Atk at 1360 w/ 2hs Basalt Greatsword (45/35 with DoT proc).

He hits 100s, low 200s. couldn't land Wavecrasher slow, nor just about anything else (didnt bother testing tash stick, or Blade of Insanity).

Never dropped below 80%. Teh ape ran like a coward at 19% (figure he didnt run last round when he was at 15% b/c I was also low hp). Chased his **** down like the worm he is. One ape corpse left to rot.

Fight ends with me at 100%hp, and 30% mana.
The end.
