Don't just sell them to NPC merchants... save all the silks you can and go into the Bazaar spend around 1 plat on a trader satchel and set up shop. You can easily get around 4 pp PER silk to while you get 2 1/2 pp for a stack selling to NPC(s) you can get at least 80 pp selling to other chars.

A small sewing kit doesn't cost alot (6gp?) and you can make more money by combining the silks and selling the swatches that result. The swatches DO NOT FAIL, so you don't have to worry about losing any silks to a failed attempt. This is a very easy way to get your tailoring skill to 20 as well.

I've been pulling these guys since I hit level 5 and now almost level 7 after an hours of playing. I have a full stack of silk and am working on a second. You get decent exp and silks good for if you're a monk that going to tailor your own armor. I would go back to town but as long as I'm under my wait and there's spider around I don't see why I should leave.

Tailoring Silk

This may seem like a dumb question to you out there, but can you tailor raw silk armor out of spider silk?
no stupid questions

Just want to say that there are no dumb or stupid questions with everquest. It is a game that even the level 60's must keep on learning in.

good point, and to the guy who origionally posted an asked if you can make raw silk, the answer is yes. just get to spider (not spiderling) silk and combine them in a tailoring kit and you will have a silk swatch if your succesful, then, depending on the piece of armor you want to make (some require more than one swatch) buy a pattern and cross your fingers and combine them in the kit. hopefully you'll have a new piece of raw silk in your hands!

Good luck with you tailoring, my monk has just started =)

I am not sure but I think the silk swatch combine is no failure does anyone know for sure?

Not directly. First combine 2 spider silks in a sewing kit and you will get a silk swatch. (This recipe never fails and trivials at 15.) Then you combine a silk swatch and a tailoring pattern in your sewing kit to make raw silk armor (trivial is 36). The exception is for pants and robes (use the tunic pattern). Those two items require 2 silk swatches and a pattern (and therefore you must use a large sewing kit). Remember to never stack items when combining, that control-click will pick up one item from a stack, and that www.eqtraders.com is probably the best site around for those who practice trade skills (or has links to even better but more specialized resources).
hmm..
