In Permafrost (Level 90 Raid): Part of the "Lady Vox's Lair" raid event (see this quest entry for event and loot information).

In the Heart of Fear: Part of the mini raid event "Monarch Widow" (see this quest entry for event and loot information).

In Newbie Zones: The spiderlings are the non-posionous version of the spiders. They are non-aggressive, but EXTREMELY social and will join in if you're fighting one anywhere near them. While they can be excellent xp for the younger player, they do come in a variety of level ranges. It is very important for the newer player to /consider the spiders closely to ensure they're of a reasonable level before taking them on.

Any one been farming these lately? Does someone have a sweet / favorite spot?

I've tried farming Nek, Gfay, EC, Nro and Steam font. Please let me know if you have a good area to hunt for these.

How much for a stck?!

Is it me or have people gotten EXTREMELY greedy when it comes to the price of Spiderling Silks? Yes, while I know these are the most basic ingredient in any tailoring combine, but they certainly aren't rare...they are a friggin' common drop from a lv 2ish MOB!

I'm on the Bertox server, and the prices in the bazaar for this item is ridiculous. ATM, I'm glancing at the prices the 6 vendors are selling them at. With 7 p the highest and the lowest...5 p! And that's ONE silk, not a stack! (I sometimes feel that those people are trying to take advantage of newbie tailors who don't know much about the bazaar and assume that 5pp means a stack.)

A few weeks ago I needed cash so I farmed a few stacks and sold them at the bazaar at a price of 7g5s (15 p a stack)...which I even felt guilty about since I thought it was alot. Needless to say, they were bought mad fast...by someone who then set up trader mode RIGHT NEXT TO ME and resold them at 5 pp each! WTF?!

Do people actually pay 100+ pp a stack for this newbie-area item!? If so, I have some CB belts for 10 pp each and Bone Chips for 5 pp each, oh and I got a really sweet deal for you brewers: 25 pp for a BOTTLE!

Please don't be some of those dimwhits and support this highway robbery. Shame on you for your laziness and spendrift, inflation-increasing attitude. It only takes less than an hour to farm a few stacks (in newbie areas).

Price on Tunare right now - 50pp per silk

i agree, most tradeskill items are ridiculously expensive in the bazaar.

however, the reason this PARTICULAR item is expensive is because it is a component of many other items of higher value.

leather padding goes for 20p PER PIECE on Bristlebane right now. as you know, leather padding takes 2 spiderling silks and 1 low quality pelt.

of course, can't tell whether the price of leather padding rose because people were overpricing spider silk and pelts, or whether people raised the price of silk and pelts so that people couldn't buy, combine and sell-on at a much higher price.

so when examining the price of a tradeskill component, don't forget to examine the going rate for the products of that component.
more?

I've been heering rumors about being able to make more than just silk bandages. By adding something else to 2 silk bandages people have told me that you can make a much better item, please post anything if you know anymore.
MONEY!

Stacking 20 spiderling silks will go for 3-5 pp in EC for easy money at low levels. Some spiderlings drop 4 silks each and they sell much faster than bone chips and bat wings. A stack of 20 spider silks will go for 25pp and I sold 2 stack of silk swatches for 60pp each!

With the new trade skill stuff, everyone's working up their smithing again for those 51ac BPs...

Seen 100pp per stack, and even a few 200pp per stack...

Now, one question... When I started the game and 30pp was a big deal... Where were these guys? :p
now stackable
# Jul 12 2001 at 7:42 PM Rating: Default
the new patch made the spiderling silks stackable.the silks used to be bad for newbs unless they were tailors butnow i stack them and easily get a gold after 5 or 6 kills.spiderlings sometimes drop 3 of them at a time.

These guys are super easy and are essential for the beginning tailor as the silks can make a variety of things (thread which makes bandages and cord).
Silk Bandages

Silk Bandages have now been added to the game.

2 Spiderling webs in a Sewing kit = 1 Silk Thread
2 Silk Threads (unstacked) = 1 Silk Bandage

As with any skill, you may fail due to lack of knowledge. The exception, 2 Spider Silks which combine to a Silk Swatch. Bandages will trivial at a higher level than Swatches, but should be easier to gather webs for!

Threads & Swatches use the same picture icon, double check that you are using the correct pair.
Both do stack in your Inventory.

Near the brownie camp in Lesser Faydar I came upon a yellow spiderling. Hmm...interesting, it attacks me. So I figure one hit and it is gone. BTW I am a 18 level mage. I battle the thing and NEVER scratch it and it kills me!!! What is with these spiderlings? They con green as they should but I could not take one hit point off their heath. ????????????????
gems off the spiderlings
# Aug 10 2000 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
i killed a spiderling in ec and it gave me a gemstone of some sort. i didnt realize what i had. i asked a friend to sell it for me because i was using my darkelf and couldnt sell to the merchants. this guy comes back with 15pp and says wow wish i had that gem. i almost fell outta my chair. this thing could have gone for alot more than that if i sold it to a pc. well just wanted to say this thing is out there, but i have no idea about the rest. have fun

The gem was probably given to the spiderling by a high-level, you'll often find weapons on bixies and rat fur on wolves(hehe). It's really done to mix up the other newbies minds and at a low level
15pp is a ton of money..:D

By the way spiderling silk can now be used to make silk bandages, place two silk into a small sewing kit and combine. If your successful you will get back a silk thread, take two silk threads and place them into the kit and *poof*
you have a silk bandage. I can imagine for all the effort involved you could get 2-3 plat or more per stack of bandages(20=1 stack). They
can be used in the bind wound skill, which is especially good for warriors and classes that can't heal themselves.

Good Luck and go kill those spiders..:)
