Never got around to getting Sebilis key yet on Mangler and got tired of telling people I can't join a Seb group for lack of same. So I zoned into Trak's Teeth to kill a forager and a hunter. Put up track and the whole window is filled with mostly "a froglok hunter" as well as quite a few "a froglok forager." I inquire and find out that there were complaints they were spawing too slowly for all the players who needed to get into Sebilis after the Kunark expansion got added to Mangler. So in this new "Care Bear" gamer's reality we all live in now, DBG "upped" the spawn rate but apparently to ridiculous levels, especially as the demand has dropped precipitously and now nobody's really killing them. One would think this would be a good thing, except these annoying froggies have a habit of swarming and if you tag one, you quickly get 6-12 around you, and even as LB mobs, a dozen can do some serious damage, particularly as they hit fast and run fast. Plus, they all have bows so I suspect they're rangers. This means they ARE eager to die but not until they've hit you with a bunch of arrows!

This is especially annoying with foragers, since there seem to be fewer of those and you have to go looking a bit for them, picking them out of packs of hunters.

The trick, for the total noob, is to tag one, run to the zone and snare it right before zoning. The target will stay there, waiting for you to zone back in, while the other 6-12 you've picked up will amble away. This works assuming you don't get arrowed to death during the pause to cast snare.

PS Hmm... Magelo says both these toons are warriors. Maybe that's why they don't equip their bows while jumping around.

PPS Interestingly, the actual name in game is "a froglok hunter", not missing the "a" as shown here, probably for 20 years.

I'm not sure when the increased spawns went in but it was Agnaar or Coirnav. I believe they only spawn like mad for a couple of weeks then they go back to normal. Also, the hunters and foragers drop the two medallions so you don't need one hunter and one forager anymore. I was surprised to find this out last night on Mischief.

Isn't that classic!? Why not just put the two quest items on every mob in the zone? Or, better yet, make them automatic forages or ground spawns found close to every zone-in? Sheesh!

The name change from "froglok hunter" to "a froglok hunter" occurred March 14, 2018 when they also had the rare flag removed. Same with a froglok forager.

Decided to get my Trak Idol last night and ran in to TT to kill froggies. Zone'd in both up in usual spots (forager near SoNH zone and hunter closer to ruined wall). Simply pulled them to wall, root, dot, dead.

Forager melee'd max 188, the one time he got a freebie on me, Hunter hit 166 max. Definitely higher level than hunter which dropped with about 3 dot rounds (Drifting + Drones). Forager also had higher resists of magic-based spells.

Not difficult for 52 druid wearing mostly defiant armor. Anyway, might want to add the tradeskill quests materials found & defiant armor to drop lists.

Forager dropped:

Medallion of Kunzar
Spectral Bow
Flawed Defiant Silk Wristwraps
Fulginate Ore
Crude Animal Pelt

Hunter dropped:

Medallion of Nathsar
Spectral Bow
Crude Silk

52 Wanderer Rhain
The Rathe

we were in TT today to raid the foragers and hunters for the sebilis keys, and we got several tips on what the PH's were, and so on. What turned out to be true tho, was that the placeholder for the forager was Harbinger Djorik. For the hunter, its Harbinger Josk.

hope this helps.

Trying to get key for guildie .. no hunter .. no named on track. Kill a few foragers and still no named, so search the zone. Find this guy [ Partisan Yinlen ] down near OS city. Pulled him with few dots, and few cal's, by time I got almost back to group, had him to less than a bub so killed him. Dropped 3pp and sali's. Hunter popped next. Was DB to me at 59.

Hunter Location

After a while of randomly roaming throughout the zone I finally found the hunter STANDING at 2550,3400. I stood right next to him to get this loc. Didn't actually see him spawn, but I'm guessing he spawned here.

From 1800,2900, next to the river, I saw the forager STANDING within a hundred units or so straight south (about 1600,2900). The forager will also roam past this location at the river alot, and he aggroed on me three times while I was here in under an hour.
Not broken, no - on Zeb, anyway

Killed him today with a level 52 bard helping me (thank you, Axl! Thank you, thank you, thank you!), with me being a 52 enchanter. Hunter killed my pet pretty fast, but that's mainly because I was unprepared (didn't Berserker spirit pet and didn't slow the hunter). Got both pieces all the same, though, so that's beside the point.
I haven't seen him in quite a while

Not bad xp
# Jan 26 2002 at 10:41 PM Rating: Good
At 53 (druid) I was soloing this guy for xp/rares. I'd much rather be quading wyverns in CS, but unless you can play very early in the morning you wont have much to kill. At least on my server.

They xp really isn't too bad per kill. I usually get about 1/5 a blue per kill (seems to be that much, maybe more) The perferred method is your standard rood/dot technique. Starfire is not efficient enough to allow you to take him by pure kiting. (Depending on your gear you might be able to. I always ended up oom when I tried) Generally takes 2 Winged deaths, 2 Breath of ro, and some times 2 or 3 dones from ES arms.

The loot is not really that impressive (every time its been around 5plat, medallion for Seb key, and Spectral bow *NODROP*) But if you want a place you know for certain wont be camped this is the spot.

From my experience, the hunter is much easier to pull to a safe spot than the forager. (I gave up using wolf form when killing forager because I ended up zoning so much from getting adds) But the rares on his cycle are, for the most part, devoid of loot.

Best of all: They are never camped! Maybe the occasional person coming for their Seb key. But they are usually more than happy to just let you kill and take the medallion afterwards.

Happy hunting.
Tracking

The easist way I have found to find the hunter is to track him from the Emerald Jungle zone. He's usually in that area, and can even be tracked by a bard (who has the shortest tracking range of the tracking classes.)

The forager can be tracked similarly from the cave by the Swamp of No Hope zone.

I've had no problem finding both of these when I needed them, this way.
Seb key Froggies
# Nov 14 2001 at 4:32 AM Rating: Decent
Got my Seb key with the help of a 55 Rogue and his 56 Druid for tracking these nasty Frogs. We parked ourselfs near a cave where the river is and Druid sets out to track down one of the frogs. Druid comes flying back with this little frog that can hit for 118+ So I jumped on it with my 51 tank and Rogue starts to BS the little guy. We play ping pong with him for a min. or so and he went down. Got first medalion and Driud waits a bit then set out to bring back the PH froggy. Same tactics used (rinse and repeat on taunt and BS.) Got second medalion and also a spectral bow. Turned in both medalions to Iksar emperor guy and got idol which is Seb key. Pretty easy only took 15 minutes at the most.

The Hunter is an exact duplicate of the Forager except to what he drops and who he is the PH for. Same deal as the Forager 2 minute spawn time so they're really pretty easy to find...117's and gates very rarely but can. Good luck getting into Sebilis...if you can find the entrance =)
Beware of Doom
# Jun 18 2000 at 9:03 AM Rating: Default
Yesterday as I was hunting my keys I found out a very imporatant lesson... Doom a lvl 55 skeleton that hits for over 200 CAN spawn in hunters place if it does you need to kill it to get hunter to respawn (we got together everyone in zone that needed hunter keys and ganged up on him...dropped nothing). Thats just a warning so if Doom is up no hunter will spawn.

Doom is not too hard for a group to take down, just have a cleric nearby.

Our group: 46 Cleric, 51 Mage, 48 Monk, 45 Ranger, and 44 Ranger (me).

Took him down easier than expected...
I stood there fighting; with C3 I was chain casting "Burning Arrow", "Flaming Arrow" and "Careless Lighting" (got two "CL"s off before "BA" recovered for recast). He was not very resistant, most of my spells hit for max, and that was with a 11 level diference

Only took abotu a minute and a half - just beware of his summoning ability - especially if you're the puller trying to get him back to your group.

Don't know if it was just a coincidence, but he never started summoning until we hit him for damage... our puller was only using snare to pull, but as soon as damage was done, Doom started summoning almost immediately... like I said, don't know if its just a coincidence or not... ?

Thats how summonning works. It begins when the MoB take a certain percent of damage (1 or 2% if I recall).
RE: Beware of Doom
# May 04 2003 at 11:48 AM Rating: Decent
I don't know if that is quite accurate or if it is different for dragons. I was summoned by Lady Vox on a Vox raid.. Never touched her, never healed etc... But somehow I was on her hate list and she summoned me.. So I don't think it matters if you deal damage to them or not.
At the time I was lvl 45 DRU (and btw the raid was a pick up raid and was wiped twice if you were interested in the results heheh =) )

It doesn't matter who does damage to the mob, if a mob has taken damage, it will summon people on its hate list. You can get on a hate list without doing damage (heals, proximity aggro, etc)
RE: Beware of Doom
# Jan 08 2004 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, dragons are different - Vox Summons folks AWAY, when they're 53rd and higher level, since she's supposed to be a raid encounter for level 50s.

Non-dragon Summoners summon those that do damage to them, and Don't Summon those that Don't do damage to them (unless you're healing someone that they'd Summon, then their attention gets atracted to you).

Somewhat of a pain to SKs and Necros, since their Snare spells also do damage (they're listed in the spell context window as DOTs, not as snares or slowing spells), but they can just cast a debuff or stat tap instead.
RE: Beware of Doom
# May 14 2004 at 6:20 PM Rating: Default
Simple version:

Lady Vox and Lord Nagafen teleport level 53 and above people out of the zone if they touch them. Has nothing to do with the mob ability "Summon".

All other summoner mobs summon you if you are at the top of the hate list and they are damaged beyond 98%.
