I was farming skins in East Commonlands last night and the very first Black Wolf I killed dropped a high quality wolf skin! Only one I saw all night.

I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I was killing wolfs, bears and the likes in ec, when suddenly I loot a black wolf, and it says You looted 1 platnium! I was shocked, because all I've looted were pelts, meats and tooths from the black wolfs in ec.
black wolf tooth

this is driving me crazy. i can't find a black wolf tooth, and i've tried everything suggested. i've hunted the karanas, the commonlands and QH, but no luck.

I got my tooth in EC. Theres a merchant that sells them to. Don't remember which ones. They aren't a very common drop though.

i kill them for their pelts and meat when i can... i feel so guilty... i think what drives me to kill em is i wish i could have one as a pet... (yes i know its strange, dont look at me like that..)
Wind Spirit Black tooth
# Jun 12 2002 at 12:13 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, I am also looking for the black gnoll tooth for the Wind Spirit quest as well. I managed to find one lion tooth out of about 60-100 lions, but I rarely see a black wolf in the karanas. Tomorrow I plan to go to Misty Thicket and kill any black wolves I see. I hear that a lot of black wolves spawn there.

I just want my wind spirit armour...

Fix your caps lock key you ninny.

I've been looking for it as well. However, given the fact that the quest is given in Qeynos and there are no black wolves anywhere near there, I would suggest killing a_verant_employee until you get one. Or try gray, shadow, and mist wolves and see if they put them on the wrong mutts instead by mistake (which is better than not at all...)

why did I loot a Coyote Skull from a black WOLF?
oh well, I got 6gold from it, thats pretty good for a lvl 1 (well..was at the time)
Druid on a rampage

I'm halfling druid and I whack them when ever I get a chance and I can still walk up and pet them. The only unprovoked was because of pack mentality since I was already dancing with one and I haven't noticed any alert of faction.... then again most were killed before I even went to the guild so I had no allegence at the time but I do now and I hunt them regularly with no side effects, to date but I'll stop soon since I feel it may hurt as I get to higher levels and their not much of a fight anymore. I just wish I could get a non ruined wolf pelt from Misty.
druids and rangers should not kill these!
# Mar 31 2002 at 6:02 PM Rating: Default
they con amiable to druids and rangers and they are part of the animal faction. you will notice if u kill them repetatively ur faction goes down.
Faction hits?
# Nov 28 2001 at 12:20 AM Rating: Default
Excuse the newbie question, but I just started my first druid and found that these things were amiable to me. I was wondering if killing these things would result in a lowering of faction with them.
RE: Faction hits?

No faction hit. When I was a newbie, I was going with the whole Druid mindset (I'm an animal lover, not killer). Don't make the same mistake. Kill these things and kill them often. Use the ruined pelts to start working on your Tailoring skill. You can get some decent looking clothing quick in this fashion. Also, kill bats and kill them often. You can auction these things for phat loot ("/auction WTS Bat Wing Stacks - any resonable donation accepted"). High lvl casters need them for levitate spell and can be generous if you're not greedy and demanding. I was getting an average of 10pp a stack - not bad for a newbie!

Good hunting!

Druids Killing Wolves
# Aug 18 2001 at 4:47 AM Rating: Default
They haven't ever attacked me for which I'm greatful for, so I avoid attacking them. I'm even doubly thankful that once when I was being attacked by an Orc at Lvl 1 or 2, the person I was grouped with swore that a black wolf attacked the Orc and helped me get away. I'm not really sure if that's exactly what happend or not, but even if it's not, I still avoid attacking them just because they dont attack me and as a Wood Elf Druid, I'll be able to go into wolf form eventually.
My 2cps

As a newbie druid I killed these puppies all day long to get my tailoring going. The set of patchwork I made lasted a long time and brought me in a few silver and gold pieces by selling to other newbies.

easy kill
# Oct 14 2000 at 3:09 PM Rating: Default
If you don't want to run around to find something worth killing then you can find 1 or 2 of these puppies and start attacking. Normally you can get a good group of low level monsters to knock off and gain some exp.

newbie watch out

**Wood elf rangers*** shouldn't have this problem with black wolves. At lvl 1 they regarded me amiably, and I avoid attacking them because of it. I can walk right up to them and they won't attack. I believe this is a ranger trait. :-)

I believe if you are a woodelf, or any other nature class, they ignore you, this goes for bears, and other wild life except for lions and a couple others

The first newbie quest for high elf wizards is delivering a wolf pelt to the guildmaster
