I think some of the peeps reporting here are talking about the wrong mob. A plaguebone skelly cons blue to a lvl 39-40 druid. The plaguebones inside the pyramid are plaguebone theives. The Greater SPURbones are the ones that walk around the place and drop bonechips and the odd rune stone. I sat and camped the DL zone on my 51 Druid for 5 hours and not once in that 5 hours did a Greater Plaguebone spawn. Anyway my question is do they have placeholders and if so what are they. I have killed everything in the Pyramid area. No spawn. I have killed every skelly in the zone including the Greater spurbones and still no spawn. Have i just been unlucky. Anyone with any info on this will you please make a posting.
Been hunting the Skellie for by FV Zone in DL for about a month. I have killed tons of these and never once got anything but bone chips, pages and runes. Might want to try the other zones if you're hunting them for loot.
I am having the same problems. I find these extremely easy to solo (at 46) and there's usually no one camping them in DL. When I'm bored or can't get a group, I can get some easy xp but still haven't had any spell drops. Has anyone found any DL? If so, please post to give us some hope.
Real easy to solo as an sk or nec. Just pull one with darkness and run into empty room accross from room they are in. once they follow you in just cast sppok the dead and they run into wall and can't go anywhere. Then just bash away. No worries about pullin one from group of 3 or 4 either as the others won't aggro when you darken them. Easy single pulls to solo as long as they feared.
I don't know how it got there, but hunting in City of Mist killing entrance area and stables and one of these (or other skeleton) dropped Wu's Trance Stick.
I didn't know they were supposed to drop them, and I hunted here for somewhere between 5 to 7 levels and had never seen one before. I knew they dropped in the zone somewhere. Apparently it's very rare, but if you're a REALLY lucky monk and not high enough to kill whatever is supposed to drop them, there's hope for you yet.

I been soloing these creatures since 45 as a cleric. Not till I reach 50 before I can say they r now an easy kill for me. They have a bit less than 4000HP. It takes me 6 DD which do 585 and 1 Dot does 500 to kill. They can be easily rooted and is just depends on how much mana you have to kill them to make them easy or hard. They will break root after 1 to 2 DD though so caount on having extra mana for a few roots. Hope it helps
Sheesh, these bad boys can take a beating. I took one in DL in the crapped out city (where oddly enough everything looks pristine and new) in the Lost Valley. I had 5 DoTs stacked on him (43 Necromancer) and he lived long enough to slap down my pet (conned green anyway) and long enough for me to even recast Dooming Darkness and Boil Blood. I was chain casting Dismiss Undead too, (not Expel Undead as my evocation still eats Orc **** and a fizzle is too expensive with Expel.)
Update, hmmmm, he must have been special, the last one I wrote about. Just killed another 5 before logging for the night and they conned blue also. No problems with them whatsoever.
the thread that said these things are fairly easy and are about lev 40ish is certainly true for City of Mist.. however as i have never been to Howling Stones (yet) im wondering if the level range is the same for this mob there as it is for in CoM. Why would a mob with the exact same name be a entirely different level range? ...consider the gyrating goos in Dalnir's Crypt that seem to be about lev 28-(rarely)34. Yet in city of mist you get Gyrating goos that can go all the way up to yellow to 47 and possibly even higher. Anyone know if a similar kind of stronger Greater Plaguebone is found here in H.S.? or is it just the same CoM skelly just in a different place.
I solo'd these things (46 mage) fairly easily at the ancient combine ruins in the lost valley (near the druid and wizard tp areas)... usually found them standing on top of the pyramids, but often found them wandering around as well. While I was there I also climbed to the top of one of those giant spires... I was so high my graphics got all messed up... I flew back down using lev.
These things have a MILLION hp, and take forever to bring down. Also have what seems to be a high magic resistance. I avoid these now as the effort to kill them doesn't bring an equal return.
On the contrary i find these to have way less hit points then the Haze or Vapor golems... When i'm fighting this mob in a group, i usually hit him like crazy, most likely they have low AC or low agility. This is one of the easiest mobs in CoM i believe.
