Need Help
# Jun 29 2001 at 6:12 PM Rating: Default
Okay, Ive been going nuts camping these guys. Ive finally got 10 pages, I put em all in the binder, cliked COMBINE, and was told I could not combine these items, in a container of this type. I also noticed that 3 of the pages in the binder WERE NOT lore. Do i have the wrong pages? Anybody have any clues as to what Im doing wrong?

There are 9 lore pages and 1 that isn't. Got to keep hunting.
Spawn rate
# Jun 16 2001 at 11:06 AM Rating: Good
I've found through camping them for the past few days that these guys spawn at a rate of 2 per EQ day, and the best way to get them to spawn is around 6am gametime and kill any giant mosquitos around the area. They're the placeholders. Making sure they're out of the area, the raiders will spawn 2 at a time in the general vicinity of the iksar camp/monument. The leveling is really good around that area for 16-25ish, so if you're of that level there's something else to do while you wait. Hope this helps.

first your in a zone with no one in it(which means not getting some insane train pulled on ya like FOB or LOIO).
Second the only things that aggro on ya are the rare red frogs and skellys.
Third i gained 4 lvls while doin the dang quest which means the time i spent there was not a waste of time.

A lot of ppl seem to have problems with this quest. =) I'm considering attempting the quest but I read the page I got from the guild. A few ppl asked if it will still work but nobody seems to know. I know the other pages won't work, but will the original one? If not, then how can I get a new one, cause we get it for doing the first quest?

u need to put this page in the tome with the other pages u get in SoNH. if u loose the first page dont worry u can get it again by saying "i will retrieve the tome" to the guy who gave u this quest. let me tell u this quest is a ***** n if u ***** it up ull have to do the whole thing over n let me tell u it takes like a couple hours to get all the pages.

Ticket Stub
# Apr 03 2001 at 7:37 AM Rating: Default
I killed a Raider last nite, it had a ticket stub on it. Lore, No Drop. On the picture in my inventory it has the word 'Seaking' written on it. Anyone have any ideas?
RE: Ticket Stub
# Dec 17 2001 at 8:15 PM Rating: Default
A ticket stub that says Seaking, eh? Well, one of the two ships that travel between Erudin and Qeynos is called.... Seaking. I think the other is Golden Maiden. You can click on a ship, and it's name will will be in your target box.
i read a page

Crusader's Test of Pain
# Mar 17 2001 at 5:58 PM Rating: Default
What a fitting name, anyways, for all who care:

The froglok raiders spawn in Swamp of No Hope near the bandit camp at 2500, 0ish. I don't know the spawn rate but it's S L O W, so in order to preserve my santity I've taken to dropping in once a day and killing the two raiders that might be there (they seem to spawn in pairs), then I get on with my life for the rest of the day and repeat next time I log on. It's a leingthy proccess, but I've never seen more than four in a day, so... And yes, there are repeated drops making it take a whole lot longer but patience IS a virtue, and as far as the 20-25 lvl mobs in the area, keeping a sharp pair of eyes and ears has kept me safe so far. All in all, I've found it alot less frustrating to not wait around for the spawn, which is a pretty safe thing to do 'cause I've never seen another person hunting these mobs. Good luck to all who have to endure this test of pain (a pain it is), and try not to go bald on yourself.

Well, I finally completed this quest. With my first Iksar SK, I never completed it. I recently started a new Iksar SK and decided to do every quest - including this one.

First, IMHO, it seems the Raiders are spawning a little more frequently, so I was able to complete the quest in just a little over 12 hours of playing time.

I was level 13 when I started, and Dinged level 14 just prior to finishing. i spent the entire level (except for a brief outing into FOB to get some Bone Chips)

Where to find the Raiders - basically, go left and follow the path after leaving the City. When you get to the monument, you are there. You will see a Bandit Camp. The raiders will spawn anywhere around the camp - and sometimes inside the camp. Don't bother with the bandits unless you want some fun (pull one and they all come).

I do not know what the placeholders are so I killed everything that was Blue and Green to me. My guess is all of the Frolok Bounders and Fishers in the area are the placeholders - the Iksar Footpads might also be PHs, but I don't think so.

I did notice that the Raiders seemed to spawn more frequently at night, AND, they seem to come in threes - somewhere around the camp.

Recipe for the book.
1) Lore/No Drop page - given by the Iksar in the guild when you get the quest.
1) Tome Page - regular - found on a Raider
1) Tome Binder - holds 10 pages
8) Lore Tome Pages - each page is unique

Warning - NEVER EVER view the pages. If you accidentally read a page - Delete it - it is no good to you.

If you cannot pick up a page, it is because you already have one - offer it to a fellow SK that may also be camping the area. I spent a couple hours camped with another SK - we helped each other get some of out final pages.

BIG WARNING - Keep a Pet with you. There are many things that will con red to you - most don't aggro. But - watch out for Frolok Ton Warriors, Froglok Gaz Knights, Iksar Pariahs, ect. None of them will like you very much. If one aggros on you RUN to the guards - your pet will buy you the few steps you need. I had to run many times to stay alive - luckily only died once. Don't worry about causing a train - almost no one will be in the zone.

Good luck - the next quest is MUCH easier, took me a total of 30 minutes.

This is incorrect. There is no scripting or code which detects when the page is read.

I walked around the camp looking for raiders for almost 24 hours real time. I found ONE raider.. I can't beleive that I have to find 10 pieces from such a RARE monster. And the fact that this is only the second quest does not say much for rest of the game.. Nice going verant!!!!!!!!!
Not that rare
# Mar 21 2001 at 2:06 AM Rating: Default
The Raiders aren't all that rare...
I spent 4 hours one night looking for them and clearing the brigand camp. I got 13 raider pops and 9/10 pages but no binder. Just kill anything you see and keep circling the camp and you'll find the raiders.

I was out tryin' to finish my Illusion Iksar quest at the Brigand Camp... 2400, 0. If you keep everything in the area of the camp killed... you will get a few Raiders. In the hour that I was there I got 6, and 5 different pages, that bookmar, and something called a Lens of Sorts. If you ID the Lens it says it is a T'eir Dal Lens or whatever. If you ID the Bookmark it has a little quote on it. It also is a T'eir Dal item. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the Lens was for!! =o) The Lens is Just Lore.
Strange Drop
# Jul 19 2000 at 1:38 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a lvl 9 SK hunting these raiders near the brigand camp thats to the east of Cabilis. During 6 hours of hunting I collected 4 pages. In addition to the pages one dropped a "strange writtings on a bookmark". It looks like a small brown note and when you right click it to attempt to read it, nothing happens. Anyone have a clue what this may be needed for? It is Lore, No Drop.

LVL 12 iskar SK. I have seen and killed about 6 of them. If you run around the iskar bandit camp for long enough then you can find them. They tend to spawn at night according to many of the people i have spoken to (Norrath night that is). I am not sure how accurate that is because everyone I have found was during the day. I have been told by many people that they spawn during night around the water, but I have yet to find where. Anyways, for those of you who are upset about it im with you. I have dropped from lvl 12 8 times because of froglok shamans, warriors, and knights, and yes im pissed :(. but im keeping it up and hopefully ill be finished with the quest by the end of the week.
IM GOING NUTS!

I have never seen one around where they should be. They should be around the iksar camp right? if they are it is crazy i have never seen one in my life!
RE: IM GOING NUTS!
# Jan 18 2001 at 12:37 PM Rating: Default
I've seen one and only one. The worst part is, most everything but the raiders around you tends to be red, and the raiders are rare so it's like a suicidal waiting game, but I guess it's only suicidal when your froglok faction gets really bad since you have the shin shamans and warriors walking around more than the raiders.

I have looked and been killed too many times trying to find some raiders. and I haven't seen a single one. I am a level 12 sk and I shouldn't have to look around level 25 guys to find a level 9-11 Raider
True. Agreed.

Yes, for a 'casual player' (2 hour sessions, a few days a week), this quest might literally take months to complete, depending on circumstances.

First, you have to FIND the raiders, which are relatively rare.

Next, you have to collect 9 UNIQUE pages. I still don't have the last page, but I've collected about 10 more dupes.

You also need to get a Binder. Actually, by the time you get all 9 pages, you should have seen at least one binder, so that's not too bad.

I think the key is killing everything in sight to get the raiders to spawn. I didn't really start seeing them until the high level enchanter showed up and started killing everything around there. At the time, the Shaman and I were mostly killing various leeches, mosquitos, insatiable devourers and man-eating vines, so they may not be part of the same spawn rotation. I would concentrate on killing any frogloks (and maybe the roaming bandits) roaming around that area.

Of course, even when they showed up, there seemed to be some pattern to the spawns.. long dry spells intermixed with active periods (had 3 raiders on tracking at one point.. I think they all popped at the same moment - two were standing beside each other).

Good luck.
Hmmm guess i cant be casual
# Jul 07 2000 at 4:31 PM Rating: Decent
I read the message above, and while it seems to give details, it also mentions that you waited 5 HOURS!!! For a casual player, that mean doom, and for others who just dont like sitting and camping ( me ) its also a dead end. I wish Verant would make camping a bit easier.

Chilaraz...
Verant doesn't condone camping, so why the hell would they make it easier?
My Pain
# Jul 06 2000 at 3:27 AM Rating: Decent
The above post is not too bad, except that he started off wrong... when you enter the swamp From The City, bear LEFT and follow the road.. at the end of the road is a pillar on a hill and just beyond that is an Iksar Bandit camp (2400, 0).

After reading the tails of pain here, I decided just to bring in my 33rd lvl Ranger to start with. Note that about 20-30% of the mobs in this area were Blue to my 33rd lvl char (not all of which are auto-agro, but skels, exiled Iksars and some high level froggies will wax your butt if you go there too low level and/or ill-equipped).

I was there for about 5 hours and saw 0 (zero) Raiders. During this time, I grouped with a 28th shaman and we pulled from all around the area (we each made a bubble or more exp).

I went away for a while and when I came back a 51st lvl Enchanter was there trying to get a totem from a ton warrior (spell quest item). His pet was pretty much mopping up the whole area and I started seeing Raiders spawn. We killed about 8 of them in an hour maybe and ended up with the binder and 4 unique pages.

After he left, I hung around helping a warrior look for Bounders (which seem about as rare as Raiders). During that next 2-3 hours, I ended up collecting 6 more pages (killed 3 Raiders within 2 minutes at one point - go figure).

At the end of the day, I'm still one page short (sigh).

In addition to the 'lens of sorts' mentioned above, I also picked up 'a ticket stub', whatever the heck that is (looks just like you'd expect a movie theatre ticket stub to look).
Where
# Jun 22 2000 at 8:36 PM Rating: Decent
When you zone into the Swamp, go to the right and follow the road out to where the pillars are. The road is at the edge of the swamp. The raiders spawn around the bandit/brigand/marauder camp. Be careful.
Can anyone tell me what the "a lens of sorts" is for. I got a page and the lens off a Raider.
Thank you for your help.
